The house we are moving to has many windows. I love the natural light and the character. The photos are of the bedroom we will probably we using upstairs. There are several on the other wall as well and I an concerned about all the light coming in for sleeping purposes. I have some 96" grey curtains I could hang high or from the ceiling but I don't want to take away from the look. I've thought about small curtains, roman shades, plantation blinds..
Does anyone have an older house and have suggestions? Thanks!

Answer
In an old house I'd use full length drapes to match your décor with a blackout lining. You can buy the lining separately and hang on the same rod as the drape. I'd hang them on a double traverse rod with a valance on the second rod. Hang them just above the window. That's the way it was done in earlier days minus the blackout lining. Most houses in the 1900's had valances or valance boxes

If you simply want blinds I'd go for roman blinds

how to disguise my fire 70s fireplace?

Emma

i have moved in to an old 1900's victorian villa, and in every bedroom and the livingrooms are horrible 70s style fireplaces (not like a nice grand one). the fire places are listed, so cannot be removed. i have thought of a few possible options .. can i A) paint over the tiles? and will that look silly? B) tile over tiles? or C) have to remove each tile and retile? what do you think? it is similar to this - http://i.ebayimg.com/t/Original-1930s-Formed-Tile-Fireplace-99p-No-Reserve-/00/s/NzUwWDk5OQ==/$T2eC16V,!wsE9suw)qITBQ4IGq0NZg~~60_35.JPG

Please! Thank You.

Answer
Yes. You can file compalint with Better Business Bureau (BBB). Visit their site and then you can put in business name and other details about what happened.

They will try to 'mediate'. However, they can not force business to make any type of monetory / non-monetory reimbursement to you. In the worst case scenario, if business doesn't respond, BBB will flag the business as 'bad' ... but thats it.

If you really think you have case, you can file complaint in 'small claims court' of appropriate county (I think it is King's county). This is where actual lawyers and judges sit and hear the case and try to come up with fair settlement.

Good luck.

I am moving to El Paso in June 2010. I need help finding where to look for a place to rent before i go there. Where do I look? I would like to live as close to the codova bridge in El Paso. also have my two kids. Any help would be great thanks

Answer
You can also go to www.realtor.com . On the first page type in El Paso Tx and click the rent button (the default setting is buy). Click on the bedroom button to let them know the minimum # you will need. Same for the bathroom button. Then hit search.

Hope that helps.
