My daughter just moved to a "big girl" bed and so I went out and bought her a new bedspread and all white furniture. The comforter is bright pink, lime green, purple, orange and teal. I am trying to decide what color to paint the walls. I was thinking of doing a lighter green (like lime but lighter) and then doing a bright pink stripe around the room, or else painting the room a light teal with a purple stripe...does that sounds too "grown up" for a 2 year old? I want it to be a room she can grow into but I don't want the colors/design to be too much for her. What do you think? Any other cute decorating ideas? I hate just one color walls so I'm trying to use two colors to decorate...Thanks!

I think a soft lime green with a medium pink strip would be adorable! I don't think it would be too grown-up. It should serve her well into preteens, at least! Another idea for longevity in a kid's bedroom: paint the walls a solid color and then decorate them with the peel and stick "Wallies" or other precut images that can be adhered to the wall temporarily. You could put some flowers or butterflies on the wall now, and then when she gets older and wants something different, you could put polka dots or something geometric like that. Good luck!

I'm 15 and i still have the same room paint from my nursery; its a light baby pink. my parents wont let me repaint it though. i have plain white curtians too and im not allowed to buy new ones so that even adds too the babyish feel. some of my furniture is cherry wood and some of its painted white. my rug is plain white as well. this room feels like a five year old could live here and i hate it. so i need help with what to do with my room. i wanted a zebra print bedspread to match my loud personality but i think it might contrast too much with the soft pink walls. i really have no idea what to do because my room just isnt me at all and i dont know how to fix it. i was thinking maybe a bright colored animal print canvas above my bed? but it might contrast alott. i cant think of a color scheme to to go with the pink either. please help? any idea are appreciated

Do you do any babysitting or have a means of earning some money??? When my son was 15, he wanted this expensive skateboard & shoes & I couldn't afford them, being a single mom with no child support. So I made him a deal - if he earned half of the cost somehow, I would pay the other half. He wanted these things so bad that he found a job at a golf course picking up golf balls. It took him the whole summer to save up, but he did, & he found it a rewarding experience. He learned just how long it takes to earn something. He is 25 now & still talks about it.
So here's what I'm saying - see if your parents would be willing to change some things in your room if you earned at least half of what it would cost. Approach it this way - if you buy new furniture, it could go with you when you move out & get your own place...basically, an investment in your future life away from home. Paint & curtains at Wal-Mart costs very little, so you could start there once you earn that money.
I think your parents will be very impressed that it means so much to you to show your coming-to-adult personality & that you're willing to put forth the effort to achieve this goal!!!
BTW, I like the idea of the zebra print with the pink...I just did this in my step-daughter's room (with her help) with bedding from JC Penney. We did pink, lime green, & zebra print. Check out their website.
