Tell me about the Disney Port Orleans- Riverside resort?

We'll be at the Disney Port Orleans- Riverside resort in Fall with Dine plan. We have two little ones - 5 and 1 yo. Any advice and tips are welcome. Thanks!

Well, first off, Port Orleans is close to Downtown Disney. This is a really great area to be in, because you can quickly just get to Downtown Disney to shop or have dinner. All of Disney is central and all of the other parks will be just a few minutes away by bus, but the Downtown Disney area seems to be a little bit more quiet because not as many buses go there as all of the other theme parks, so that should be nice. Port Orleans- both Riverside and French Quarter- is a huge resort. Since it isn't several stories high like other resorts, it is spread out over a large area, so you might want to really take a day to get to know your way around. It is also beautiful- the decor is really pretty and very well thought out to fit the theme. Port Orleans is surrounded by the Sassagoula River which is pretty and serene. The rooms will be your basic hotel room- 2 queen beds, a bathroom, a small sitting area, and maybe a trundle bed, I'm not sure. But there should be plenty of room since your kids are small. Port Orleans has several pools- 6 I believe, and some are bigger than others. Some are large, with a slide, while others are your basic swimming pool. There is also an arcade and a nice playground for children, which should be perfect for your children. There is a lot of info about them and pictures on the first link that I put under sources. There are 3 restaurants; Riverside Mill is a food court, but the food is pretty good and it's quick. Boatwrights Dining Hall is like a typical sit down restaurant with steak and seafood, along with other foods. And the River Roost Lounge is more of an entertainment type restaurant- they serve appetizer type foods and there is a show. As far as transportation, all Disney hotels offer free bus transportation and since this is a large resort, it is very frequent, you shouldn't have to wait long at all. You may have to stand on the buses though. Thats about all I know, but Port Orleans is a great hotel and a great deal. It's beautiful, and although there may be a lot of walking since it is a large resort, its scenery is so worth it. Disney hotels are the best, and you can't get the full 'Disney Experience' without staying in one. Your kids will have a blast, Disney is just so much fun, no matter how old you get. Good Luck on planning your trip, and have a great time!!
