... when you, as a CHRISTIAN, became aware... and KNEW absolutely, positively, without a doubt.. that your god was REALLY there?
I know as children, most of us are "taught" god... we grow up believing because we were "taught" to believe.
So, without calling on "taught" faith to describe your belief, I just want to know... WAS there a defining moment in your life when god let you know he was real?
.
Answer
I was brought up in a catholic home so i had knowledge of God but now I am just a Christian.
No tags or labels, not perfect by any means, just a Christian.
I am now 55 but just like the John Denver song says, "He was born in the summer of his 27th year. Coming home to a place he'd never been before. He left yesterday behind him. You might say he was born again..."
Well, that song fits to a t ee.
I was 27 years old, it was August, 1980 when it happened.
I had just gotten a new, better paying job.
We, my wife ( 8 months pregnant t the time) and 2 small children lived in a small but nice apartment.
That evening after everybody was in bed I couldn't sleep. I got up and just stared out of the kids bedroom window.
As I was looking at 2 trees in the neighbor's yard,
they were approximately 30 feet from the window directly in front of me, and they were about 25-30 feet apart. I noticed that the wind had picked up a little.
I then noticed that both trees were bending toward each other from the force of the wind.
Toward each other!
Not blowing in the same direction, but bending toward each other!
At this moment...I just muttered "what am i to you God?"
Immediately a leaf floated down on the outside of the window and just stayed almost suspended in one spot as I put my hand up from inside the window like I was touching it... I suppose that someone could come up with a scientific reason for this happening, and maybe they would state the odds of frequency that this could happen but to me it was something so unusual that it caused me to ...It was at this moment that I knelt down on my kids bedroom floor and asked Jesus into my heart...that moment changed my life forever.
I went over by the kids bed and knelt down. My eyes were blurred because of the tears in them but through them it looked like Jesus was there, in the room...
I got my wife out of bed and began telling her things, just things that maybe I felt that I knew the answers to, I don't know but because of the hour she wasn't thrilled, nope, not thrilled at all, lol.
I remember talking about things almost like in parables. she was having a hard time relating at all.
It was then that my oldest daughter who was 4 at the time, and was now awake, got out of bed and began explaining to my wife what I was saying.
I know this sounds weird.
I wasn't speaking in tongues but I obviously wasn't able to communicate very well to my wife, my 4 year old daughter interpreted my words to her. Talk about strange...
At that time I was like on fire.
I sat out in the yard with a beer in one hand and a bible in the other.
(yeah, i guess God was teaching me about judging others, lol)
I welcomed anybody and everybody that came to my door.
I didn't see any conflict with drinking or anything so I often would have a beer while reading the bible.
One day some southern baptist's came to my door and sort of reprimanded me about it. I cordially and calmly told them to leave.
Hey, whether it was right or not I don't know but I think god was showing me some stuff about judging people???
He doesn't demand perfection out of anybody.
That is never going to happen.
He just wants your heart...
During the first few months when I opened the bible the words that were meant for me to read were almost like they were written in neon colors.
Don't want to keep going here but during the first 6 months or so there were 4 or 5 miracles that we witnessed!
I could go on but I am probably already getting under somebodies skin...
There is an old Neil young song that Always stuck with me...
In the song Neil says "It's all subject to the invitation."..something like that...and I have found this to be very true...
No matter how many times you set a food dish in front of a dog, or a water dish, they won't touch it unless they are hungry or thirsty...so i am thinking that on that August evening in 1980, I was a little hungry and a little thirsty, so I accepted the invitation.
sorry that this went so long...

How can i help my mom to get a good job.?
Rose Lams
my mom is single with three kids, and we have financial problems. My father passed away 5 years ago and he used to bring in the money and my mom was the housewife, she never had a legit job until after his death (she used to do babysitting, clothes tailoring at home). After he passed away, my mother has been working minimum wage jobs up until NOW. i really hate it, how much little money we have for our selves. We live in a two bedroom apartment, which is okay for a family of four but it is not okay when you rent one room to a roomate, so thats extra cash. So basically we all share one bedroom. And my mom works very hard, vary vary hard to support our family. But she's not going anywhere. She's not much educated: high school diploma, moderate at speaking english (my parents are foreign) and moderate computer skills. I try to help her out as much as possible. Infact, i do alotta things that a regular mom would usually do for me (cook my own food, laundry, groceries, cleaning all that). I understand she is working hard so i dont ask her to buy me much. mostly everything i buy for my self is with my own money, including clothes. I do summer jobs and tuturing. i dont bring in enought money to help my mom with bills. But the thing is im only 15 years old. I know when I turn 16 I will get a job, after school and weekends hopefully. But for now, im really looking for a BETTER job for my mother. She worked at a daycare for 4 years and still hasnt got a raise and previously she worked as a cashier. But she was always paid minimum wage. I know my mom is depending on me. I'm the oldest child and she expects me to help her out when i turn 18 so she can take a break from her hard life. Are there better jobs available for her? Where can I look for better jobs for her? Should she take certain classes so she can FIND better jobs? Please, I really need your help, because i'm just trying to help my mom out and i barely know anything about the job world and neither does she. What should I do? What should i do to help my mom out? Will helping her improve her english and computer skills give her benefits in finding better jobs? <--what kind of jobs should i help her apply to? help me out and thank you
we live in NYC btw if that helps :)

When it comes to finding ways to earn money, consider a Denver (Colorado, USA), a woman that lost her upper management job. She started a simple business picking up dog droppings that led to earnings of over $75,000 a year, working outside, setting her own hours, and could be done using a bicycle as transportation. It is also something a child age 10 and up can do alone, an adult can do, or a whole family can do together. This article describes how.

In this economy, you need to think outside box. Companies are refusing to take applications from the unemployed resulting in many giving up.
