I would paint it around what colors connect to you. If its blue, green, yellow, orange, off white, etc. go with what sticks out to you and build your room decor on that. If you plan on having a theme such as one of the many crib sets you can get at Baby's R Us and the Baby Depot go with the colors in the bed set either in a deeper or lighter shade. Just remember that babies can get overly stimutlated by too loud/bright/deep hued colors so keep it more toward the softer hues. One thing that is reallly cool is to paint 3 of the walls in one color and then 1 in the highlight color. Another is to paint it one color half to three fourths of the way up and then the remaining either in a lighter shade or in the accent color. I really think a cool idea is to hang wooden letters with your baby's name on the top. Or on the opposite color wall. One book that is an excellent resource for ideas is Taunton Home's Kids Idea Book. Here are some of my suggestions:
baby blue/mint green
yellow/orange/chocolate
You could create a monkey, dinosaur, sports, natural, sea, moon and stars, safari, elephants, bob the builder, etc The possibilities are endless. A good bet is to get one of the small trial cans of paint from Home Depot/Lowes paint the color in question on the wall and leave it there for one or two weeks and see if you still like it. This way you won't have to buy a whole gallon of paint you don't like and you can still change your mind befor the whole room is painted. Hope this helps:)
