Bedroom decor ideas.?

Bronwyn

I am in a small unit and want to redecorate my bedroom. The walls are white and I have wood panel floors. So far I have a white bedspread with a Raspberry throw across the end of the bed and raspberry and white patterned pillows. I think the whole room needs more but I am not sure what to do to add a bit more interest to the room. What colour bed skirt do you think I should have as I am thinking a Raspberry colour may be too overwhelming. Also would introducing touches of lime green be too radical? What sort of rug should I have as well and what type of furniture? (White or woodgrain?). Your suggestions would be much appreciated :)

Answer
oooh i love your ideas so far, im currently in the middle of redecorating my bedroom so im in decor mode (and getting excited for christmas decorating isn't helping either!), any whom depending on what "raspberry" is to you (more red, or more dark/bright pink?) i think accent colors that would work best are; medium bright blue, lime green, or even dark purple. depending on your age and your taste i think you would be happier with purple or blue in the long run (they are a little more mature and will age better) also, for furniture i think that wood grain is the better choice because it comes in many different colors, styles and you can always re stain old furniture to suit a new style. white is more juvenile and it harder to keep clean. for a rug i would go with your accent color, maybe shag..... just a few ideas, hope you like them!

Shabby Chic Bedroom Help?

Glitter

Okay so I have like THE DARKEST house ever, my moms like, a vampire lol all of our furniture and decor is very dark and vintage and don't get me wrong, my moms a fantastic decorator and our house is beautiful but i'm SO tired of dark this, dark that. So I wanna redo my bedroom in sorta "shabby chic" theme because its really bright and cheery, so I was wondering what are some ideas i can use to create the shabby chic room on a budget (i'll be paying for most of it myself, but i do save up a lot) with a sorta small bedroom with dark blue carpet (I know most shabby chic rooms have light carpet or wood) and what are some colors i can paint it?
also, where are some good places to get little knick knacks?

Answer
Purple would look nice, but not a dark purple, more like a lilac or lavender. Put up posters, drawings, anything! Maybe above your bed you could have a small shelf with letters that say love or peace or your name. Next to your bed you could put a little rug out for when you get up in the morning, if you have hard wood floors it would work out better. For the bathroom put out a fuzzy rug in front of the sink and get those decorative covers for the toilet seat. and some nice curtains. If you have a shower put the rug there instead. Also, above the sink for the mirror you could have lights surrounding it, like a makeup mirror. Finally with your closet you can hook up some lights in it so when you open it they automatically turn on or get a switch. If you want you can put some paper lanterns on the ceiling or a mini chandelier.

P.S maybe a pod chair or a beanbag chair? (:
