Im looking for lots of ideas
it needs to be neutral without being too boyish
but also not girly, obviously...
it also needs to go with all the ages as well
I was thinking skulls for the girls since they like them
and more pirate for my son
but give me your ideas
with details like colors,etc...
thank you

Answer
As much fun as you might think it will be for them I agree with answer one. The relationship to a skull and crossbones is not at all cool for that age group. I've never in my life known a female that LIKED that?

I'm most curious about why they sleep in the same room, first of all???

On the cheap I'd go with the Pirates movie series posters with Johnny Depp.
Not knowing your budget but knowing children and that their tastes and moods can change daily if not hourly, I'd go with making it a tropical thing, even if it only suggests Pirate or Castaway, or Swiss family Robinson, etc.

Paint is cheap, foamcore cut outs of tropical vegetation, even a jungle theme with animals seems more enjoyable to me. Most especially for a 5 year old, what you suggest is stimulation and a cool place maybe to hang out, not a MY SPACE room that should be a place to relax.

Ideas for kids bedrooms?

NeedAdvice

We just built a new house and we are getting ready to move in. I am wondering if anybody has ideas for themes for their rooms/ decorating ideas??

I have 6 kids so its alot to think about.

a boy age 9, a boy age 7, two girls both 5, and two more boys both 3.

one of the youngest boys i am already doing a jungle theme but i am stuck on all the other rooms.

any advice??

Answer
Jungle theme is so common, don't you think? I mean, no offense.
Make sure to include things the kids like.

For the oldest boy, do something simple but include things like hobbies. Remember, he's going to grow up quick and before you know it, he'll be in middle school, interested in other stuff. Pick colors he likes. Black or wood furniture sounds good to me. For decorations you could do posters of things he likes, such as video games.

For the 7 year old... I suggest cars. I think there's lots of things that you could find that have to do with that. For colors, cars mostly remind me of red, royal blue, and gold. I like the idea of red walls.

It depends if the girls are sharing a room or not. If they are not. Green and purple sounds nice. It would be nice if you did a sort of inverse thing. Like color one girl's walls purple and the other's green, one girl's curtains green and the other purple. Things like that. White furniture would look nice.

For the 3 year old, do a dinousar theme. Colors: green and red. I don't have many suggestions for this one.

Q. my little girl is into everything pink and girly but i can't let that overpower the room as my 15month old son shares with her..
i'v looked on the internet and everything i have found is boring or says use primary colours but i don't like any of those ideas..they have to have bunk beds as they have not got room for 2 seperate beds..
any ideas are welcome..

Answer
Try something gender-neutral like a jungle or farm theme with animals.

Need ideas! Cute bedroom themes for toddler?

Q. For my son's 1st birthday in September, my husband and I want to redo his room... We want to do a theme that is appropriate for a toddler, vs the baby nursery look we have right now.

What are some cute themes to do for a toddler boy's room?
We did his nursery in Jungle theme, so that's out for sure.

Answer
We did our son's room for his 1st b-day too! He doesn't sleep in it so it's really more of a play room but we have it themed up cute anyway.

We did a nature/camping theme for his. His name is Sequoia so I have Giant Sequoia trees on the wall and I bought decals of bears and paw prints and some other nature things to hang. I have the paw prints positioned like they're walking across his wall and they lead to a bear every 5 prints or so.

And his sheets have animals and tents and is a camping theme. And I have a play structure and a play tepee set up with all his toys and stuff in it. He LOVES it. I did his bathroom for his b-day also (a jungle theme) and for the whole first week he would grab my hand and lead me to his bathroom and room and point at everything on the wall and babble away and ask "that?".

The camping theme is still cute and toddlerish because we did it with a nature theme and animals as well. And he can grow in to it, it is not so babyish where he would be embarrassed by it when he's older and his friends come over.

It works for us because we're an outdoorsy family and camp a lot and plus his name is Sequoia so the Sequoia forest on his wall works out well. He loves animals nature and being outside, he's 14 months now, so it works well for him.

I don't like character rooms because they may like Barney or Elmo now but will they in 4 years? So I would stick with something they can grow in to. Like a forest theme, or a ocean theme or planet theme...

Good luck!
