Wow, some of those were my favorite books when I was younger. Here are some that I also enjoyed and some summaries of their plots.
1. The Princess Diaries series by Meg Cabot
Much better than the Disney movies of the same name.
2. the Mediator series, also by Meg Cabot
Susannah Simon moves from New York to California, having to deal with a whole new social circle. However, this move becomes even more complicated when she has to deal with her unusual ability: Susannah can see and talk to ghosts and they come to her to help find passage to another realm. Life gets even weirder when a very attractive male ghost haunts her bedroom.
3. Prep by Curtis Sittenfeld
A girl from a small town in Indiana goes to an elite boarding school on the East Coast that consists of primarily rich kids. She has to deal with all sorts of things, from boys to a game of Assassin to school to not being upper class like many of her classmates.
4. the Midnighters series by Scott Westerfeld
Five individuals in the small town of Bixby, Oklahoma find that they all have a unique ability. Time stops for them at midnight and they have an hour to do whatever they wish, with special powers at their fingertips.
5. the Uglies series by Scott Westerfeld
In a future society, everyone recieves surgery at the age of sixteen to become stunningly attractive. However, this surgery also prevents dispute, anger, creativity, and wanting to be different, and Tally Youngblood is beginning to think that becoming a pretty is a bad thing.
6. The Year of Secret Assignments by Jaclyn Moriarty
When three girls from a haughty private school are chosen to be penpals with three boys from an enemy school as part of a project to bring the two schools together, chaos, kisses, and surprises ensue. The whole story is told through notes and letters.
7. A Great and Terrible Beauty by Libba Bray (and sequels)
These books are set in Victorian England. When Gemma Doyle's mother is killed in India, Gemma decides to pursue a proper education at a finishing school in London where she will become a lady. However, this school has some supernatural secrets.
8. Divine Secrets of the Ya-Ya Sisterhood (and sequels) by Rebecca Wells
A woman is in love with her fiancee and living the life she's always dreamed of. However, due to the unhappy marriage of her parents, she isn't sure if she should go through with the marriage. It's up to her mother's friends (the Ya-Yas) to convince her that life is full of triumphs and tragedies.
9. Crank by Ellen Hopkins
Kristina is a goody-two-shoes honors student. However, when she visits her less-than-desirable father over the summer vacation, Kristina becomes addicted to meth. She develops an alter-ego, Bree. The book is told from Kristina's point of view and primarily through vivid poetry.
10. Nineteen Minutes by Jodi Picoult
A school shooting is terrible, but so swift that it begins and ends in nineteen minutes. Ten students are killed and twenty more are injured. But the events leading up to the shooting in small-town New Hampshire have been brewing for far longer than nineteen minutes. The book explores the shooting from the points of view of the judge, a survivor, the shooter, and the shooter's mother, and examines the events leading up to and after the shooting.
