What would you want at a store grand opening? Help me make the opening of my boutique great!?

I'll be opening my boutique "Crush" in South Texas. I buy, sell and trade clothing. (I also buy from places that sell to WetSeal.com / Gojane.com)

I sell both name brand and non-name brand clothing and DIY/vintage items. I also sell shoes,handbags, accessories, makeup, unique home decor, art and more.

I have made the entrance a lounge. This room contains the check out/front desk and makeup display. It also has a couch, coffee table, TV, magazine rack and free coffee/cookies. I will have coloring books for kids.

The next room has all the clothing and accessories sorted into different sizes/styles.Connected to this room are dressing rooms.

I have made the entire store have a comfortable, artsy and non-cluttered feel to it. The pricing is low, an Abercrombie shirt might cost you around 9/10 bucks.

I've collected a great deal of good ideas for my store and now I'm asking for something else.

I need some REALLY great ideas for the grand opening! What can I do to make the day amazing?

well, all my ideas will be inexpensive. One: don't forget balloons and crepe paper, the cheapest thing of all in decorations. 2) have finger sandwiches, you can make with tuna, chicken salad, etc. 3) have coffee (good hotel brand)
and good brewed hot tea and good ice tea at a table.
4) serve homemade cookies or little tea cakes 5) Have a brochure about your boutique, who you are, done in elegant style (use your computer for the flyer) 6) Add a 10% coupon to the flyer for them, works wonders for business.
7) can give the women a carnation for coming 8)
can give a small item with the name of your boutique, say a pen, comb, notepad, magnet for refrigerator.
9) can do a roster of those who show up, send them a thank you note for coming 10) get a roster of each individual's needs, sizes, etc.
Hope all these marketing ideas help. I am sure there are dozens of others. Just remember, it doesn't have to be expensive. Can have quiet Classical music playing in the background. Tailor your choices to your clientele.
Make those who are there feel like they are royalty.

What party theme should i get for my son who is turning 2....Just ideas please.?

We just did an "Under the Big Top" party for my son's first birthday.

We served hot dogs, popcorn, bags of cotton candy, circus peanuts, soft pretzels, etc. If you have a lot of friends, you can ask around and see if anyone has a hot dog roller cooker, a popcorn maker, a cotton candy machine or a snow cone maker to make it really authentic.

For decor, we used a red and white theme. We had red plastic tableclothes and we draped white streamers around the front. We also took red and white streamers and hung them in the center of the room and twisted the two colors together and took them out to each corner and then let them hang down to the floor so it resembled a Big Top Circus Tent. We also sat stuffed circus animals (elephants, a giraffe, some lions) around (we even made little paper collars for them that resembled something you would see in the circus).

For the cake, we had a friend make us a 3D peanut cake but you can find circus cakes for $24.99 at the grocery store bakery.

We also printed out signs and glued them onto cardboard and sat them around. They said things like "Please don't feed the elephants!" and "Step Right Up!"

We did a few games, too. We printed out tickets that we designed on the computer.

For a duck pond, we got some rubber ducks from orientaltrading.com and wrote 1, 2 and 3 on different ducks and we put them in a kiddie pool (or you could use a bathtub if it's inside) and let the kids pick them out.

We put baby food jars in a diaper box that we cut down to 1" higher than the top of the jars and had kids throw ping pong balls at them like in a goldfish toss. Instead of winning real fish, they won little bags of goldfish crackers.

If you google "Circus Birthday Party" or "Big Top Birthday Party" you will find all kinds of inspiration.

I think in total, we wound up spending $80 for everything but we did as much DIY as possible and we used freecycle.com to get some of the materials. Be creative and it will turn out great!

What are some fun things to do over the holiday?

Me and my mom want to do something fun over Christmas break, and we need more suggestions. We live in Toronto,Ontario and no snow there so we can't go tobogganing or build a snowman etc. We have done lots of shopping, and we only have 2 fun suggestions of stuff to do. Any other fun things to do?

There are actually some fun things to do during your good time!



1. Go out of town - Although holidays may be lazily spent at home, why would you let yourself get stuck at home for days doing nothing? That will eventually become boring so if you want, it would be best if you just pack your bags, score some tickets, and plan your trip elsewhere. Take the kids somewhere nice like a family resort or go on a romantic trip with your loved one and spend your days away from worries and stress.

2. Redecorate - Have you been looking at repainting the walls? Are the kids telling you they want a new theme for their bedroom? In case you decide to stay at home during the holidays, make it fun and interesting by doing your home or even just a part of it a makeover with everyone else! It'll be exciting to plan decors and even buy them together as you create the new version of the home or its room that you want to reanimate.

3. Go to a spa - Since it's time to take away your stress and totally relax during the holidays, you might as well take this time to hit the spa. This can also be a romantic event that you and your loved ones or special someone can share.

4. Fix the house - You might not notice it at first but trying to be your home's very own handyman can be a fun and interesting to do. This is of course extra special if done with the family. There are lots of DIY articles that you can read up online if there are specific things that you needed to repairs on. Plus, online shops are peppered with hardware tools that you would find useful.

5. Go on a road trip - Whoever said that traveling should be expensive? Go on a camping trip or simply go out on a roadtrip across the state! The biggest investment that you would only have here is for gas and some supplies that you would need to bring with you during the trip.

6. Go to the beach - The holidays is also the perfect time to get a new tan or just enjoy the beach without any hassles. Pack your bags, fill it with beach clothes and make sure you don't forget your sunblock.

7. Cook and bake at home - The holiday season may also be the perfect time for you to unleash your inner chef. Plan some recipes that you have always wanted to try and cap it off by daring yourself to bake even just a simple yet yummy chocolate cake.

These are just some of the fun things you can do during the holidays. Just remember that in the midst of all these things, what's most important is that you get to do it with the people who are dearest to you.

What should do I when I clean my room?

Simply put, over break I am going to reorganize my whole room, and just everything that is mine.
Now to break it down..
Walls: We are slowly getting everything re done in our house, floors are next then walls, so no paint yet. As of now they are just drywall, so command hooks, and normal hooks don't work,
I want like pictures and stuff of me my friends, people I admire etc..
Furniture: My room is a square shape. Let's say the bottom right corner is the door. Walk in, to the left is a dresser and a TV, walk past that my desk is at an angle, past that a rocking chair, then my night stand. In the middle back wall is my bed, then to the right of that my closet. I have a window by my desk. It's small, very little walking room..
Clutter: Help. Me. Oh. My. Gosh. I have too much stuff, how do I know what to get rid of, and what not to? And how can I get rid of it? I always think "I'll need it sometime."
And what kind of storage units should I get? This kind of goes with furniture, but I have a lot of books, and stuffed animals that are just in boxes.. That I kind of want out..

i've been doing the same thing and cleaning my room, rearranging, etc and i'll hopefully be able to paint over break! so my tips:

-when going through the things u want to keep, you can either do small sections (ex-dresser one day, desk the next day) or you can do the crazy route of like everything in one day haha (the closet is the craziest!) small sections would be easier to handle.

- make piles of "keep" "donate" and "get rid of". if you cant decide if you'll need something see if you have anything similar to it. who needs 2 hairdryers? it really makes it a lot easier to keep your room clean and it looks better if you have less stuff. dont think of it as losing things, because you are gaining something -space. keep things you know you will want and use. for things you are keeping "in case", put them in a box and put it in your closet, the attic, or garage. if you haven't used it in 6 months, get rid of it. same with clothes. hang all you hangers one way and when you wear something turn the hanger around. then get rid of the stuff you havent worn after a few months. easiest tip is to keep what you need and love. if you're just keeping something in boxes (like your stuffed animals) consider donating them to kids who would play with them instead of keeping them out of sight (you can keep some if they're sentimental tho!! i did at least.. haha)

-after your room is clean you should have a lot more space. more clutter= smaller looking room. try pushing your bed against a wall or rearranging your furniture to have more space and function.

-for decor, you can look at pictures on tumblr or pinterest to see what you like. pinterest has so many diy ideas that are super cute and easy.You can hang some picture frames on command hooks if you want. One idea I saw was really cute, someone pit pictures up on a clothesline on their wall. people also put up string lights in their room which is cute. cool lighting ideas are always fun. you can get cute inexpensive bedding at ikea or target and have accessories like curtains and lamps in your favorite colors. just make your bedroom full of things that reflect you and you will love it.
