Describing a characters house?

In my daughters story she is writing about a rich kid who gets what she wants and is spoiled. She's having a hard time trying to describe the house and room for the little girl and I can't think of anything. Any suggestions that could get her started?

If you have any home decorating magazines around the house, such as House Beautiful or Elle Decor, have herpage through them to see houses and rooms she likes.Or she can look at decorating websites online.

She should base the style of the house on where the character lives. If it's in a big city, maybe it's a townhouse or a penthouse. If it's in a historic town, it might be an old stone mansion on an estate or a plantation-style house, with big white pillars on the front porch. Or maybe it's a modern wood-and-glass house surrounded by woods. Perhaps it's off by itself, or maybe it's in a neighborhood of wealthy homes.

One thing is for sure - everything in the house will be high quality. Maybe a decorator designed the rooms, or maybe they have heirlooms handed down from generation to generation.

The girl's room will of course be large, with some kind of elaborate bed (canopy bed or a loft bed or a sleigh bed, maybe a waterbed). There will also be a large play or hangout area, with lots of toys or whatever the girl would want at that age.

Perhaps it gets redecorated whenever she asks for it to be. It could be all girly pinks and flowers and lace, it could be a beach theme, it could be all emo black, it could have posters of her favorite rock stars or of horses, if she likes to ride. She would of course have her own large flat-screen TV on the wall with surround sound, her own computer, her own cell phone, no matter how old she is. She might have a pet or many stuffed animals. Maybe there is an area for a huge dollhouse and the dolls have tons of clothes, accessories and equipment.

Alright well I'll be moving quite soon and my mom said I'm going to be getting new bedding and so on. But anywho, my favorite things are dancing, acting, horses, singing and France! But I knew we wouldn't be able to put all of those things into my room so I just chose horses and acting. So what kind of colors would go with that type of thing? I really like brown and peaches and purples and browns but anything will be okay besides pink! :) So what do you think? And if you could give me a link to some bedding you may have found or even something that has anything to do with acting on it?

And if you scroll down it will give you the whole collection. I thought that you could use the sheets with a solid comforter or plain sheets with the printed comforter.

For a acting style bedroom I would go with a simple purple comforter and maybe a fun pattern purple sheets. Similar like above. Black would also add in good with that.

Then I would pick some pictures that represent Hollywood. Do you have any favorite actors? I would get some black and white pictures and frame them on your wall. Allposters.com has a great selection. Also maybe you could find the Hollywood sign in black and white.

And then you could just add in some film style décor. Search ebay for film, film reel, camera (vintage). Also check Hobby Lobby if you have one in your area. You can always print a 40% off coupon off their website.

Maybe add in a star pillow or two. I would search star on POttery Barn teen or just google it and see what pops up and where you can buy it.
