kids room decor nautical image
can'tbelie
Any decor ideas for a room that is 14 x 12 ', will be used as a 5 yr boy's room mostly, and about 3-4 times a year for guests? It has a queen bed w/ simple headboard, 1 nightstand. 2 windows. Might soon have a TV & stand.
I am looking for decor that can be changed with minimal effort. So far, I can only think of the obvious: keep a separate set of drapes, bedding-set for "guest".
Don't know what to do about the walls, what to put there that can be changed without too many holes in the wall?
So, looking for any ideas on how to do up a room (walls, accessories) for use by 5 yr old boy plus visitng guests. Guests are often couples with small kids. My kid does not yet have any preferences for his room. I also am pretty open to any ideas for the "guest" decor.
Budget is not an issue.
So, question I guess is, how to do up a room so it can be changed from kid's room to guest room easily?
Answer
try a nautical theme for the room... It´s fun for kids and also attractive to the eye for the guests...
- the walls can go cream color or light blue with a a few navy blue accents
- wall decor can be navy ships, flag ships, sail boats or even sea scapes
- you can also hang some nautical accents like oars, fishing net, life ring that hang on boats or even shells or sea stars
- if you have a carpet try and change it to wood floor or laminate floors and put some accent rugs-
hope this gives you a small idea on what works for the guest and the 5 yr old.
And also are things you can easily find on a lot of places...

as far as activities go-what do you like to do with your friends at their houses? how about a TV for your room? dart board? is there room for a pool table or other type of game table? how about a table for puzzles? you could get beanbag chairs and play board games on the floor. get stuff to do makeovers (nail polish, face masks, make-up, etc....)
I also recommend if you have a yard, to get sports equiptment to enjoy the outdoors with your friends-thats what i did as a kid. there are all kinds of fun things to do outside (capture the flag was my fave!)
make yoru room comfy for just hanging out and listening to music and/or talking too.
good luck have fun!
