kids room decor cheap image

I bought a cheap-o alarm clock for my kid's room. It doesn't match their decor, and I was wondering if I would do serious damage if I spray paint it (purple!). Do you think if I spray paint it without taking it apart, I will ruin it? And are there any hazards in doing so (toxic fumes, etc.)?
Answer
Use masking tape or other methods to cover any holes or vents. Tape off the electrical cord and remove any knobs that pull off. Wipe it down with paint thinner. (lightly don't soak) Use latex spray paint and do it in the garage.

Have you ever stayed at the Excalibur in Las Vegas?

I have read reviews but I am trying to get a little more information. It's very inexpensive in comparison to the majority of Vegas hotels. They just renovated some of their rooms, and those are the ones I plan on booking. It looks nice enough. I'm just worried that I'll "get what I pay for." Any input is appreciated.
I'd love to hear from people who stayed in the new area, or people who have been there within the last year. Thanks for your help!

Contrary to popular belief, Excalibur is actually a nice, clean hotel with a great feel. I have stayed there 5 out of the 6 times I have been to Vegas and will be staying there on our trip in July. I love it! We always get the Widescreen rooms (renovated in 2007) and they are SO MUCH better than the standard rooms. The decor is modern and warm and you feel like you are in a nice hotel. The walls are creamy, the furniture dark, the tones in blue, green and brown. There is a flat screen 42" television, a safe, granite countertops in the bathrooms. There is one large shower but no bathtub. I actually prefer baths but in Vegas I'd rather get ready as quick as I can so I can go explore. There are tons of cheap food options in the food court like McDonalds, Quiznos, Pizza Hut, Krispy Kreme, etc. and they are also connected by indoor walkway/mall to Luxor and Mandalay Bay so it's like getting 3 casinos in 1 because you technically aren't walking outside to leave the hotel. Excalibur's casino is large and in a diamond shape. Each corner contains an exit and/or room elevators.
Of all of the times I have stayed there I have never noticed more kids than anywhere else (even though it is considered a kid-friendly hotel because of the Midway in the basement). The pool is never overcrowded so you can always find a lounge chair, especially if you get there in the morning.
If you don't book a room with a view, they won't give you one. So if the view is really important to you go ahead and pay extra for it. I don't like paying extra for a view so every time we have been looking at the roof, trash, or service entrance from our window.
The location is fabulous, right across from MGM Grand and NY NY. It's not right in the middle of everything, but it kind of gives you a break from the crowds as it gets pretty shoulder to shoulder between Planet Hollywood and Harrah's. It's still within walking distance to everything in center strip.
I can't wait to stay there again! Here is a website with some traveler photos of Excalibur so you can see what it really looks like. You will also be able to tell the difference between the widescreen room and the standard room. http://www.tripadvisor.com/LocationPhotos-g45963-d97786-Excalibur_Hotel_Casino-Las_Vegas_Nevada.html#31109613
