Decorating my way, AND considering my boyfriend...?

So, my boyfriend moved into my house a few months ago. I've managed to remove most of the ex-tenants horridly wild/ disturbing "decorating" by now. I mean, the kitchen and bathroom and master bedroom were the most disgusting shade of pink. (I don't mind a little bit of pink, here and there) but it is not my most favorite of colours.
However, my main problem stands in the fact that I adore everything cute and shabby-chic-y/ vintage, and I would like to decorate my bedroom in a similar fashion.
He said it wasn't the manliest style going, and he isn't wrong.
I have taken him to B&Q and dragged him around the home & DIY sections in every shop we've been in, and the things he's pointed out, has enforced the rule that he must have a signed letter of permission when buying paint/ wallpaper.
Of course, I'd love to decorate it like so, but it's a little bit girly to share with a boy. I would like some ideas as to what I can do to make it suit us both?
Any advice would be much appreciated.

Answer
Neutral wall color, maybe a cream or pale grey. Geometric patterned fabrics, not bold but complementary to the wall color.

Guys always want a black leather sofa and a wall size TV, when they get older a huge recliner. Be prepared.

Light green, maybe frogs. You could do just simple stuff, bumblebees, sailor(there are awesome pillows at homegoods with a compass, some that say ahoy, some say sail, and theres a lamp with waves and a fish on it. its so adorable. And If you have a window in his room, put a bar over it(for safety) but also then you get get like a pirate ship wheel, put it on there and when he gets older he can pretend like hes a pirate and stuff. I don't know. Maybe clouds or something, you can also just keep it simple. But if you go with a theme I 100% totally suggest wall decals. They're awesome, theres tons of cute ones, you can put wall decal ABC's on his wall or his name as well with whatever theme decals you have. But they look real, the don't mess up the wall, they're cute, perfect, and you don't have to deal with the hassal and messiness of paint or having someone paint the walls. Plus hes obviously going to get older and grow out of it, and all you have to do is peel them off. If you dont already have one, get a Pinterest account. They have great DIY easy projects and stuff you can do to add to his nursery theme. Hope this helps you at least a little bit. Good luck, and Congratulations!
