The kitchen and family room are open to each other with no obvious separation. Right now I have linoleum in the room and it needs to be replaced, but I want to try out a new flooring type. Do you have any suggestions besides the ones below?
Hardwood floors: There is wood paneling on the walls, so this would be too much for the room to handle.
Tile: Too cold.
Carpet: The boys in my house are too messy to have carpet in the kitchen/familyroom.
Linoleum: No.
Answer
That all depends on the traffic.
how is your budget?
~do not put carpet in the kitchen.
~pergo is nice.
~carpet in family room is nice and you could get a carpet stemer to clean it.
~slate?
~heated tiles. if you use tiles in kitchen, put then at a 45 degree angle and it will make the room look bigger.
~mixing and matching is ok.
~vinal?
~steping stones?
~grass/astroterf/sod?
~straw
~concreet
~blacktop (like a street)
~rubberish mats like they have in school gyms?
~metal?
~stainless steel?
~indoor basketball flooring material to match your decor?
~alternating black and white is out dated.
well.. what ever you use do not put the same flooring in the kitchen as you do in the living/family room.
be bold.
let me know how this works for you.
would like to see pics.
thanks,

What should I get my boyfriend for Christmas?
Nicole
I honestly have no idea what to buy him! My family is poor, as well as me, so I can't spend very much money on him. The thinggs that I want to buy him are too much! I can only spend about 20-30 bucks on him unfortunately:( He likes xbox, but those games are expensive. He likes the celtics, but jerseys at 70 bucks.. he likes guitars, but guitars are hundreds!
What do you think a normal 15 year old boy would like for christmas that is affordable? Thanks!
Answer
If he likes xbox, he would LOVE a microsoft points card!
Or an xbox live membership card.
A microsoft points card is like a gift card, that provides money in the form of points that he can use to buy things (items, games, media) on the xbox.
An xbox live membership card will give him the ability to play games online and message his friends and many other things on the xbox for certain months at a time.
Also, check out some video games he wants. Not all are 50 bucks or more. Some are $30, some are $20-25, some are $18 or less. They also go on sale sometimes. So you can check out different stores to see what they offer game and price wise.
Sports products with the celtics logo on it could be nice. Like hats, t shirts, room decor, blankets, basketballs, etc.
Basically, take his interests and think outside the box a little. He may like guitars, but that doesn't mean he has to have a guitar exactly. He could have guitar accessories, decor that has guitars on it or something similar, or a C.D of his favorite band.
Maybe you could also get a C.D of the soundtrack from his favorite video game. They have those, and they are pretty cool.
Merry Christmas and happy shopping :)
