Well, the first thing that comes to my mind are animals. Elephants, lions, cheetahs, giraffes, etc. Also leopard prints and zebra prints are very popular with some. You can have all white bedding with maybe a few pillows in one of these prints and some African accents, like figurines, etc. Pictures also. Black and gold are popular colors with this theme. If you arent sure or want some ideas google it. If that doesnt work, try googling the images. For example, go to google, then type in african themed bedrooms and click on images! That should help. I tried it and saw quite a few! I am not sure where you live but here we have a store called Hobby Lobby, and i know they would have things to fit your theme! Good luck!

Planning on painting a bedroom mint green, possibly with white trim. what color bedding would go well with this keeping in mind both genders?

You could make it a seaside-themed room, subtly putting in shades of soft gold (starfish), ivory (scallop shells), sky blue, seaglass green (actual seaglass or faux accents of it). A nice chunky bed with corded-trim mattress and white sheets made of linen will help. Go to wallmart, in the craft section near the bolts of cloth they have a small clear plastic box filled with shellls like conch, scallop, leopard conch and all from Bermuda. Shell necklaces hung on pins are manly, and can be worn as well as displayed as wall ornaments.
