Which vanity do you like best (10 points!!)?

I can't decide between 2 vanities. I like Vanity A because it seems like there's a lot of storage and I have a lot of makeup and stuff. But I'm afraid it looks too "kid-ish." so which one do you like best
Vanity A: http://www.wayfair.com/Poundex-Bobkona-St.-Croix-Bedroom-Vanity-Set-with-Stool-in-White-F4074-XQP1109.html?refid=FR49-XQP1109

Answer
I like A better because it has more storage. I think if you surrounded it by adult-looking things it wouldn't look kid-ish. Plus, if you really would use the vanity you wouldn't really see the looks of the vanity because of all the make up. I would go with A!

I NEED HELP!!! Which vanity do you like better!! (10 points)?

Answer
Vanity A is a better--Much more storage. Get it in a darker color (preferably brown) with gold knobs and it'll look a lot more "grown up". The pink wall behind it doesn't help it look "adult," but I think once it's away from there and in your own room, it should look okay. :) Vanity B doesn't have nearly enough storage space--You'd have to have storage room on top of the vanity, which defeats the purpose in my opinion.

I spend most of my time in my room. I do my computer stuff in there, eat snacks, watch T.V, and chill with my friends in that room, it's like my mini house. I am really into girly things and my current room is blue. It is 10ft by 8ft (on the small side..)
My little sis watched a show called "iCarly" for a while and I really liked Carly's bedroom when she put it on. I also have a lot of stuff, a TON! So I'd need a lot of storage.. Like 100 nail polishes, TBH, lol.
I like a lot of pink and white (girly) stuff and am an organization freak.. Let me know if you have any suggestions?

Answer
Well, one of the best things to do is take stock of what you HAVE and then what you NEED. You need storage, you say? I recommend Goggling decorative storage and looking at those. Also, how do you want to store them (we'll use the nail polish bottles as an example)? Do you want them out of sight, or might you want to use them as decorative pieces when not in use? If so, consider a plain shelf, nothing too elaborate, that has a few levels to it. Maybe arrange them by color to make a statement!

Unfortunately, 'girly' encompasses a LOT of styles. Are you modern girly? Traditional? A mish-mash?

I definitely recommend taking style quizzes and looking at the following site for ideas: http://kidsthemebedrooms.com/ Yes I know it says 'kids', but it's more than that! There's ideas for all sorts of themes for all ages. I've used them for ideas for years myself.

One point of note: Since your room is a bit small, I recommend multi-function pieces and utilizing vertical space. Got stuffed animals? Buy a net that goes in the upper corner and stick them there. Another idea for showing off pretty polishes is using spice shelves. They're tiered like stairs, and show off the small items without hiding them or taking up too much room. Here is a search of them on Amazon: http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=sr_nr_p_n_feature_keywords_1?rh=n%3A1055398%2Cn%3A%211063498%2Cn%3A284507%2Cn%3A289754%2Cn%3A289779%2Cn%3A510156%2Cp_n_feature_keywords_browse-bin%3A2827206011&bbn=510156&ie=UTF8&qid=1364616102
and here's a good example: http://www.amazon.com/Seville-Classics-3-Tier-Expandable-Organizer/dp/B001E2864K/ref=sr_1_4?s=kitchen&ie=UTF8&qid=1364616171&sr=1-4

Also recommend using shelves (wall and book) for displaying and holding items. Just make sure you don't have too much that the room becomes cramped feeling!

I hope I was able to help a little bit.

Is there a big difference between these villas at Disney World?

I heart av

Out of Bay Lake Tower, Jambo House, Kidani Village, Boardwalk or Wilderness Lodge, which choice would be nicest for early December? It appears that the older one bedroom villas have only one restroom, as opposed to the new ones that have two. Any other major differences? Are the newer villas significantly nicer than the old ones? Which choice would be nice for Christmas season?

Answer
Our family is apart of the Disney Vacation Club and we own at Bay Lake Tower and I can honestly say that is the nicest hotel I've ever been to. Everything is brand new (even the lobby still smells new paint and everything :D ) There is also not many kids here so its really quite, only people who are staying here can get in (need a key everywhere), awesome pool, amazing views of the MK, spacious, and awesome bus transportation to anywhere with a short walk to the Magic Kingdom.

I have stayed at Kidani Village, but Jambo is better. Together though, they aren't that good. Yes there is animals, but these villas are sooooo flipping far away from all the Disney action. You can hardly bus anywhere because not many buses come to the resort. It's also enormous so a trip to the room takes forever and parking is like in a garage. Blah.

Boardwalk is pretty cool. Never stayed here, but have seen lots of pictures. We also spend a lot of time just walking the boardwalk and using the back entrance of Epcot (good perk) Lots of transportation here with a pretty cool setting. The rooms themselves aren't the greatest. Kind of tacky in a way.

Wilderness Lodge is another I have not stayed at, but finally got to tour around on my last visit there (last week) and we walked around for a while. It is very nice. Awesome architecture, pool, and theme. It is pretty loud in the lobby area and also a long walk from the parking lot. Decent transportation, but is not hooked up to the monorail and you can't walk to the monorail resorts.

In summary, from best to worst is Bay Lake, Wilderness, Boardwalk (very close tie to Wilderness), Jambo/Kidani.

How to fit 4 kids in two 11'x11' bedrooms?

Skye

I have a 7 year old daughter, a 5 year old son, and 1 year old twins (boy and girl).
Do you guys have any ideas on how to fit them into two 11 foot by 11 foot bedrooms. Should I put the girls together and the boy together or the older ones together and the twins together. How should we organize their furniture. Should we buy a specific type of furniture (bunk beds for example).
We just moved in and need HELP!!!
Thanks in advance

Answer
Ships captain style bunk beds. Stephen Spielberg arranges his kids' rooms like this in the book Hollywood at Home by Architectural Digest. Don't be intimidated. You can also create DIY solutions for this. Look on sites like Apartment Therapy for small space solutions. I also highly recommend Pinterest for kids and teen room boards for inspiration. I am also a big fan of Christopher Lowell's book on small spaces. You also want to maximize floor space so I suggest that all lighting is off the floor and off table space. You can choose kids' room wall sconces and ceiling lights so tables are free and floor lamps don't get knocked over.

how do you make your room look smaller?

Sara

yeah...this is a strange question. but my room is wayyy too big. i always hated having a big room. i would always take the small room and give to big one to my brother. so...any ideas?

Answer
It's not a strange question. Large rooms arent' really cozy and I have had a number of clients ask me the same question. Here's what I tell them:

An excellent way to take up some space in a large room is to have more than one furniture group in the room. For your bedroom, think one area for sleeping, one area for reading, one are for writing, one are for hanging out or watching television (if you have one in your room). Each group should be in its own space. This will make your room cozier and fuller. An oversized chair would be great in the reading section! Just don't put oversized furniture in the entire room because you'll find it's just toooooo much.

If your color scheme is light, opt towards darker colors. Dark colors absorb light and make the room appear smaller. You can do dark colors on the walls. A deep exspresso coffee brown would look good on the walls. And using dark colors in one area (the paint) doesn't mean you can't use light colors elsewhere. Brown walls look amazing with soft powder blue! Add silver metallic accents to warm it up. If your ceiling is high, bring it down by painting it dark also. It doesn't need to be brown in this example, but I'd do exspresso lightened with cream... Stay away from white ceilings.

Warm up the room and make it feel more comfortable by adding plants. Spider plants are the best in a bedroom, as they give off lots of oxygen and filter your air so they are definitely a plus.

Choose curtains, a comforter, duvet cover or bedspread with a large bold pattern. Although you should vary the size of fabric prints, make certain that the main fabric in the room is big and bold. Think huge dots, bold geometrical patterns, great big peace & love flowers!

Some designers will tell you that placing furniture away from the walls eats up space. And they'd be right. It eats up floor space. But personally, I think even though it eats up floor space, unless the room is already small (and yours isn't), when you see furniture not up against the walls, though you are physically taking up floor space, psychologically, you still get the impression that the room is big. What I suggest to make a room appear cozier, is to mix the two. Keep a big piece up against the wall. Not your bed! Having a bed away from the wall makes life so much easier when making the bed! Opt for keeping the other furniture away from the walls... group chairs away from the walls, maybe stick your desk crossway in a corner, things like that. It's hard to say when I don't know what furniture you have to work with...

Place area rugs in strategic places. A nice warm color next to your bed, a rug underneath the chair, table & lamp in the reading area, etc. This will take the focus off the space (the walls) and redefine the room perimiters.

In a small room, baskets, vintage suitcases, funky & decorative storage cases feel sometimes like clutter. In a large room, they work. You can use these in your room to take up visual space.

Don't hang small items on the walls unless you are hanging lots of little items together in a large scheme (such as framed photos, for example). Stick to bigger pieces of art.

Don't forget to think about lighting... Keep away from just having a ceiling light. Opt for a standing lamp, perhaps next to the reading area. And a nice table lamp on the desk or table in the writing area (if you don't have a desk in your room, a table that fits your decor can do this duty.

I hope this has given you some ideas. If you need any other help, feel free to email me.

ok, its my daughters fourth birthday the weekend of thanksgiving. It is her first "real" birthday (meaning that she has school friends to invite instead of just family) anyways. I live in a tiny one bedroom apartment, so does my mom, and my dad. last year we wen bowling, 6 adults, 12 kids, and it cost me 100$. and that was just family. what we want to do is have her party indoors with an option of outdoors if weather permits. my only issue is price. I need a room or facility or somewhere I can have a 5 hour party that wont cost me an arm and a leg. I live in Kitchener, Ontario, Canada.

Answer
You should look at prices at a nearby recreation center, that's what my mom did. We even got a bouncy house because we rented it outdoors. They have good prices and you should look on Pinterest took they have good ideas :)

Answer
Sounds like you want a Kawaii mural for your room. Kawaii is a Japanese word for cute.

You can look for Hello Kitty wall decals, stickers or wall stencils. If you like fairy tale mushroom homes for gnomes, you can search Pinterest.com for fairytale bedrooms. Though you are not a kid, you might find some great murals for kids or teen bedrooms. One major way to set the scene for a girl's bedroom is with lighting. Take a look at these.

I am trying to get lots of DIY tips and things to decorate my room, but I have no money! I'm a teen girl with a pink and purple bedroom, and a bunk bed, if that helps for decor ideas.

THANKS!

Answer
1. Hang some pictures or photos on your walls in cheap frames. If you group 3 - 8 frames together it can look very nice.

2. A vase of flowers or a small pot plant can add something cute to any room.

3. A new cushion or bed sheets can also make the room look nice.

4. Display your books etc on a nice set of shelves or a book case.

If you have a look on some home decorating web sites for bedroom ideas I am sure you will get some nice ideas to use. Good luck :)

I need to figure out what carpet color and wall color to use in my Master Bedroom, HELP!?

Andi

The problem is that I have white and Emerald green Marble tiles (similar to this http://khetanmarble.com/images/marble/big/Emerald_Green.jpg ) in the master bathroom and the bedspread I bought a year ago is deep reds with some gold mixed in. Similar to this but deeper and more variation in the reds... http://www.patches7hillsmall.com/images/38598.jpg
I really like the idea of a green carpet about this color (mostly we were looking at colors similar to W050 on this chart but I like the idea of going darker with a rich deep emerald green http://www.currentcarpets.com/3349/chart-large.jpg), but then what color would I do the walls?!? What about a deep royal navy blue for the carpet? I just do not want browns or whites... I need color! But I thought red would be too much. Ugh, I'm so confused.
Would an emrald green make it look to Christmassy??

Answer
oof! Yes, sorry... emerald, blue and red does sound a bit circus-y.

How about this....

I don't know how much you invested into your bedspread, but how about replacing it or purchasing a duvet cover for it?

The safest bet would be to go to a library (or bookstore) and look at magazines like House & Garden, Elle Decor, and Architechtural Digest which seem to be most likely to show that kind of floor and match your style. Look for photos that you like and contain that dark green. They don't have to be an exact match to your space, but it can help you decide on colors that will go together, and you can then work off of the photo to accessorize.

I've done this successfully in my own home. When i redid my bedroom, i pulled pictures out of design magazines and put them onto a board. I discovered from this what colors i liked, and i chose two photos (one of a bedroom focusing on the bed, and another of a dresser), to use as a guide when i shopped for paint, bedding, lamps, and a dresser, and then when i set up the room i used them again for pillow placement and accessorizing the dresser. It was fun to do it this way.

How to make my room look nicer ?

kitkat XD

Ive just moved house and my bedroom would be perfect if the walls werent painted a horrible mustard yellow colour, but because the house is rented im not allowed to paint it, so im stuck with this minging colour. Anyway im wondering if anyone can give me any tips on how to get my attention away from the walls, like putting a billion posters on a wall then having loads of furniture to cover another ... Anything , im desperate !! <3

Answer
The landlord won't even let you paint it white? Did you pay a deposit? Most the time a deposit covers paint and all that.. just depends on the amount and how much you paint. I would think white would be easier since most landlords and realtors like to sell/rent a house with white walls since it looks easier to work with!

But anyways...... I would put dark colors on my wall along with one light color (usually white to go with the lightness of the yellow). Thick black bordered frames, if your going to put posters up frame them, it always looks better and if you go to Hobby Lobby or some craft store its really not expensive to frame! I think that adding some light or white curtains would make that mustard look clean and neat as well.

I would just add the decor on the walls but don't clutter them, if you do then it will just make the yellow look worse. If your stuck with the color, might as well use it the best and make it look good! If you clutter any wall no matter what color you have.... it looks tacky. IF you do white, black and yellow themes it can actually look REALLY cute. Zebra print with yellow looks amazing, especially a printed rug or bedding.... if you don't have those then just do black and white. You can use the yellow to your advantage by setting the tone with the black and white colors, and the yellow will grow on you! I love yellow and with the right color scheme you can make it look amazing. But, in my opinion clutter will not cover it ALL, it will just look like a clutter mess. Ill list some sites under sources to give you some ideas...

also try googling under images "yellow wall bedroom decor" or "yellow black and white room decor" or "yellow bedroom decor"...it should help!!! I think you will be surprised how good it can actually look and half the stuff you can make yourself, its not hard and a crafstore can provide all the things you need to make it. Good Luck!!

Its a really dull average size bedroom with a bed and a wall cupboard. I can afford a couple of paint buckets for the walls, beds and cupboard, and a few other accessories.

Answer
If you have a comforter/quilt you really like, or something else in the room you really like, then keep it and work with the colours of it. Painting the walls/cupboard will change the whole look of the room. New hardware to update the cupboard/desk will greatly change the decor look too. Embellish your curtains with ribbon (can get great things in a dollar store) or you can take an inexpensive plain curtain and add a small band of more expensive material for a dash of colour and a whole new look. This can be done at home or by a friend or if no one you know sews, then a seamstress can do this for a small amount of money. Lamp shades can be changed with paint or material or fancy trim or just changed out for another (though around here shades are quite pricey). A brightly coloured bedside rug is nice. If you like the colour of your room, then you can add random squares of good size on the walls in a couple of other colours to brighten the look and modern it up...just be careful not to pattern them and not to add too many..just a few will work well..vary the height of them. Many times a dull room only needs different coloured pillow covers..some co ordinating organizers, flowers, new laundry/garbage bins ..small changes to brighten and spruce up a space. A great mirror can bounce the natural light around when placed properly brightening up the room..so many things you can do with little money and a drab room.

Is it okay to mix dark-wood furniture with light (white) furniture in a child's bedroom?

My son, who is 2 1/2, has a space themed room (mainly shades of blue). His bed is an espresso color, and I am looking to buy a dresser for him. I could buy a white dresser and paint the drawers blue or add space-themed decals to it, but I am not sure if it would clash with his dark-colored toddler bed? Ideas/suggestions?

Answer
Mixing and matching can definitely work, it just depends how you go about it.

I would suggest leaving color off of the furniture. Keeping it a neutral color (like white or brown), you don't have the hassle of having to repaint when you want to change color scheme / décor again. Space themed decals are great! They add to the theme, but can always be removed later.

I do suggest getting some espresso knobs that match the bed and adding those to the dresser (if it has knobs). This room mixes espresso and white rather elegantly. https://www.google.ca/search?hl=en&q=dark+borwn+and+white+furniture+childrens+room&bav=on.2,or.r_cp.r_qf.&bvm=bv.44770516,d.b2I&biw=1366&bih=599&um=1&ie=UTF-8&tbm=isch&source=og&sa=N&tab=wi&ei=o8JfUbjMF4KYqgHAzoGgDw#imgrc=dtYighXwrr_uGM%3A%3BsMQvWjruONGcoM%3Bhttp%253A%252F%252Fwww.home-designing.com%252Fwp-content%252Fuploads%252F2012%252F02%252FBrown-red-white-small-kids-room.jpg%3Bhttp%253A%252F%252Fwww.home-designing.com%252F2012%252F02%252Fspace-saving-designs-for-small-kids-rooms%3B1500%3B1072

The bookshelves match the brown accents on the furniture, which really ties the décor together.

Good luck! :)

Me and my mom want to do something fun over Christmas break, and we need more suggestions. We live in Toronto,Ontario and no snow there so we can't go tobogganing or build a snowman etc. We have done lots of shopping, and we only have 2 fun suggestions of stuff to do. Any other fun things to do?

Answer
There are actually some fun things to do during your good time!

1. Go out of town - Although holidays may be lazily spent at home, why would you let yourself get stuck at home for days doing nothing? That will eventually become boring so if you want, it would be best if you just pack your bags, score some tickets, and plan your trip elsewhere. Take the kids somewhere nice like a family resort or go on a romantic trip with your loved one and spend your days away from worries and stress.

2. Redecorate - Have you been looking at repainting the walls? Are the kids telling you they want a new theme for their bedroom? In case you decide to stay at home during the holidays, make it fun and interesting by doing your home or even just a part of it a makeover with everyone else! It'll be exciting to plan decors and even buy them together as you create the new version of the home or its room that you want to reanimate.

3. Go to a spa - Since it's time to take away your stress and totally relax during the holidays, you might as well take this time to hit the spa. This can also be a romantic event that you and your loved ones or special someone can share.

4. Fix the house - You might not notice it at first but trying to be your home's very own handyman can be a fun and interesting to do. This is of course extra special if done with the family. There are lots of DIY articles that you can read up online if there are specific things that you needed to repairs on. Plus, online shops are peppered with hardware tools that you would find useful.

5. Go on a road trip - Whoever said that traveling should be expensive? Go on a camping trip or simply go out on a roadtrip across the state! The biggest investment that you would only have here is for gas and some supplies that you would need to bring with you during the trip.

6. Go to the beach - The holidays is also the perfect time to get a new tan or just enjoy the beach without any hassles. Pack your bags, fill it with beach clothes and make sure you don't forget your sunblock.

7. Cook and bake at home - The holiday season may also be the perfect time for you to unleash your inner chef. Plan some recipes that you have always wanted to try and cap it off by daring yourself to bake even just a simple yet yummy chocolate cake.

These are just some of the fun things you can do during the holidays. Just remember that in the midst of all these things, what's most important is that you get to do it with the people who are dearest to you.

What should do I when I clean my room?

Larissa

Simply put, over break I am going to reorganize my whole room, and just everything that is mine.
Now to break it down..
Walls: We are slowly getting everything re done in our house, floors are next then walls, so no paint yet. As of now they are just drywall, so command hooks, and normal hooks don't work,
I want like pictures and stuff of me my friends, people I admire etc..
Furniture: My room is a square shape. Let's say the bottom right corner is the door. Walk in, to the left is a dresser and a TV, walk past that my desk is at an angle, past that a rocking chair, then my night stand. In the middle back wall is my bed, then to the right of that my closet. I have a window by my desk. It's small, very little walking room..
Clutter: Help. Me. Oh. My. Gosh. I have too much stuff, how do I know what to get rid of, and what not to? And how can I get rid of it? I always think "I'll need it sometime."
And what kind of storage units should I get? This kind of goes with furniture, but I have a lot of books, and stuffed animals that are just in boxes.. That I kind of want out..

Answer
i've been doing the same thing and cleaning my room, rearranging, etc and i'll hopefully be able to paint over break! so my tips:

-when going through the things u want to keep, you can either do small sections (ex-dresser one day, desk the next day) or you can do the crazy route of like everything in one day haha (the closet is the craziest!) small sections would be easier to handle.

- make piles of "keep" "donate" and "get rid of". if you cant decide if you'll need something see if you have anything similar to it. who needs 2 hairdryers? it really makes it a lot easier to keep your room clean and it looks better if you have less stuff. dont think of it as losing things, because you are gaining something -space. keep things you know you will want and use. for things you are keeping "in case", put them in a box and put it in your closet, the attic, or garage. if you haven't used it in 6 months, get rid of it. same with clothes. hang all you hangers one way and when you wear something turn the hanger around. then get rid of the stuff you havent worn after a few months. easiest tip is to keep what you need and love. if you're just keeping something in boxes (like your stuffed animals) consider donating them to kids who would play with them instead of keeping them out of sight (you can keep some if they're sentimental tho!! i did at least.. haha)

-after your room is clean you should have a lot more space. more clutter= smaller looking room. try pushing your bed against a wall or rearranging your furniture to have more space and function.

-for decor, you can look at pictures on tumblr or pinterest to see what you like. pinterest has so many diy ideas that are super cute and easy. You can hang some picture frames on command hooks if you want. One idea I saw was really cute, someone pit pictures up on a clothesline on their wall. people also put up string lights in their room which is cute. cool lighting ideas are always fun. you can get cute inexpensive bedding at ikea or target and have accessories like curtains and lamps in your favorite colors. just make your bedroom full of things that reflect you and you will love it.

ok this answer was like one of my longest ever but i guess im excited about decor since i've been doing my room. have fun!! :)

I'm finishing up the decor in my boys' bedroom - we have always referred to them as monkeys: "Little Monkeys", "Chunky Monkeys", etc.

I will be putting up a vinyl wall decal with a cute little saying beyond the obvious monkeys jumping on the bed. Any suggestions on rhymes or sayings? I'm drawing a blank!

Answer

How would I decorate a teen boy's bedroom with Big Bang Theory theme?

Anonymous1

I need to make this room zazzy!! I am thinking of changing the curtains, possibly bedding and all of the wall decor. I am looking for ideas and inspiration. Can anyone think of any geek chic ideas? Thanks in advance for any ideas!

Answer
Well for sure you need a 'bat signal' alarm clock. You can look up some physics equations on line and put them on a wall or on a whiteboard stuck in the room. Sheldon is alway popular for Big Bang fans. He likes his flannel plaids. I don't know if they have big bang sheets or anything but Sheldon does sleep with his infamous comforter that has the two different colors of blue (one on each side) and the white stripe down the middle so he can perfectly line himself up to sleep. He also uses his Star War sheets. Any superhero items such as the Green Lantern, Flash, Batman items are good as well. There are a lot of places on line (on eBay as well) where you can get decals of sayings that are show favorites. My niece got one of Sheldon's 'Soft Kitty' song and put it up on her wall. There are also lots of places on line that sell items (t-shirts, etc) that are like those on the show.

I want a purple/blue theme with maybe some black, but have no idea on what to do. Images would be really appreciated.
Thanks.

Answer
OMG, thats what i wanted and what I do.
Paint the walls a nice purple, and then paint the base boards blue, LOOKS SO CUTE.
If you choose a dark purple, try a medium blue for the base boards.
If its a light purple, use a light blue on the base boards.

You could get a bean bag and put it in your room, a t.v, stereo, anything really. It all depends on your style.

You could hang nice things on the wall, band posters, celebrities, your paintings, anything.
sine your a female, Try getting a body mirror and hang it up.
(its rectangle and you can see your whole body)

You could go to the dollar store, get wooden letters and spell your name and paint them and design them however you want and put it up on your wall or door.
Behind your door hang an organizer

http://www.google.ca/imgres?imgurl=http://www.doororganizers.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/03/girls-over-the-door-organizer.jpg&imgrefurl=http://www.doororganizers.com/&usg=__2yMNvNb-_lbvng-uYZ-L04rhrGQ=&h=141&w=150&sz=6&hl=en&start=0&zoom=1&tbnid=qFwbCv2Az-uAPM:&tbnh=112&tbnw=120&prev=/images%3Fq%3Dgirls%2Borganizer%26hl%3Den%26biw%3D1280%26bih%3D619%26gbv%3D2%26tbs%3Disch:1&itbs=1&iact=rc&dur=290&ei=SOFuTK_LItfrnQe2ucDPBw&oei=SOFuTK_LItfrnQe2ucDPBw&esq=1&page=1&ndsp=18&ved=1t:429,r:1,s:0&tx=65&ty=71
something like that.

You could get a little desk and put your computer or laptop on it if your allowed.
Try getting cute carpets. cute pillows and bed sheets and comforters for your bed.

If you want something black, Try getting a black lite and hanging it on one side of your room

it looks like that.

if you like lights and colourful things, Try hanging up some christmas lites or cute outside decor lights

I want to repaint my room, so I had this idea and I'm not sure if it'll actually look good. So, I have a black futon and white furniture. I thought about painting my walls black (chalkboard paint so I can use chalk to put designs on my walls) and then the ceiling a darkish blue, and then have the decor be turquoise with a splash of coral (just to add some more color cuz i love color) and then hang up christmas lights and use blue and coral chalk on the walls...so, what do you guys think?

Answer
Sounds pretty good, but I suggest in investing in a few more light sources 'cause it's going to be dark as hell (especially considering chalkboard paint is so matte that it won't even reflect the slightest bit of color).

vintage/hollywood/pop art themed bedroom?

my room is in some need of.. redecorating. i know what i want to do and what i want in my room but i can't really.. place it all. i have hardwood floors, white painted wood furniture (dresser, desk, bed framee, and nightstand), and i have a cheetah print duvet.

now i either want my walls a bright aqua color, or a vintage-y dustylavenderr color.

i have a huge obsession with the 1900's, all of the eras, even the 90's. but my love out of all is the 50s-80s. really, the 60's and 70s.. but i'm aiming for all of those.. the vintage hollywood theme of the 50s, and the psychedelic pop art theme of the 60's and 70's.

i want to get posters of andy warhol's art - my favorite artist of all time - and maybe get some of the beatles (possibly the warhol poster), and some other vintage rock posters. i also want am planning on getting some cute little accessories and novelty items from places like fred flare and urban outfitters.

so tell me, do you like this idea, what color do you think i should paint my room, where can i get some warhol art, and what color curtains should i get?

eeeeeeeep help!

Which style should I decorate my new bedroom?

Maddi

I've had my own apartment here on the beach for a while now and I love it. Due to some extremely unfortunate circumstances, I'm moving back in with my parents next month. It's only 10 minutes away from the beach, but still, I'll miss being right across the street.
Anyways, I have a wide variety of styles I like. And the western/horse theme I had going on before isn't cutting it for me anymore. I'm considering a few things:

1. Beach theme- the walls would be painted a light blue and an off white. I'd put in white furniture. I think this theme might make me feel more 'at home' because this beach truly feels like my home now. And the decor might be reminiscent of this- http://cache-images.pronto.com/thumb2.php?src=http%3A%2F%2Fimages.pronto.com%2Fimages%2Fproduction%2Fproducts%2Ff0%2Fcd%2Fhome937d6a95a3ea3f5962be0d47d9c9-1270899898_560x407.jpg&wmax=180&hmax=180&quality=80&bgcol=FFFFFF

2. Dark Red/Orange- Orange is my favorite color by far and I'd love to be surrounded by it. I'd paint the walls a deep reddish orange and put some dark cherry wood furniture in OR put in some wrought iron furniture and give it a Mediterranean feel. I love Mediterranean architecture and decor. This picture really inspires me, particularly the wine rack on the wall, although the color of my walls would be a much more rich red/orange - http://s3.hubimg.com/u/736506_f496.jpg

3. Retro/Car Theme- I've always thought I was born in the wrong decade. I'm 18 and have a nice vinyl collection. I'm also a HUGE car fan and when I was in high school ceramics I made some actually awesome pieces that could go into a retro room. Mostly including 57 Chevy Bel airs, 50s-2010 Corvettes (including the 70s stingray) and 60s-2010 mustangs (excluding the fox body and 90s crap stangs XD). Think - http://imagecache6.allposters.com/LRG/8/881/SAYJ000Z.jpg I'd also display my record collection and maybe make a wall piece out of records. This idea just seems a little more juvenile to me and I'm not sure what colors I'd paint the walls or what furniture pieces I'd get.

Those are the ideas at the top of my list. What's your opinion?
Me calling them "crap stangs" was not at all ignorant. It's my personal opinion, and my not liking the fox bodies or the 90s mustangs doesn't make me ignorant. I'm free to express my opinion and you're free to express yours, but it's not cool to put someone down for their opinion.

Answer
The beach theme would be appropriate since you are only 10 minutes away from the beach. You can even get some materials for decor or crafts while walking on the seaside. I also like the Mediterranean look but painting the four walls orange is not up to my taste. Anyway, the final decision is really up to you because you're the one who will be living in it.

How do I decorate a toddler's bedroom without breaking the bank?

Little Bug

I need to turn my son's plain nursury into a toddler boys room, but I;m not sure what to do.

Paint isnt cheap ( I dont care what you say, an 11X12 bedroom will cost us $100 to paint), and we have a crib that converts to a toddler bed, only problem is that they no longer sell the guard rail that converts it to a toddler bed (It's target's do your room nursury crib). A friend gave us an elecric blue and yellow plastic/metal bed, (no stickers, it was spongebob I think) but I can't find any toddler rooms that seem to not look cheap/cheesey with the plastic/metal beds, or rooms that are not girly with the crib to daybed option. Plus I can't find a guard. The twin bed guards don't work with toddler mattresses

Am I going to have to shell out $50+ for a wooden toddler bed, plus table+chair set ($50), toy organizer ($59), Posters ($9.99+Frames), Bedding ($40)?

..

Thats $224!!!!!!..at least!!

Anyone know if building the stuff is cheaper? Is it easy? I don't have a lot of tools (nor do I live by an Ikea), so buying plans won't help me very much.

ANy ideas?

I've tried Craigslist, consignment stores, 'goodwill stores', and none of them have any of the stuff I'm looking for. Not even a plastic table or toybox, or they have it and it's used...abused.. and $10 less then the new stuff

I'm burnt out and wondering how to do this for him without shelling out $300 in cash

Answer
Hey i have a toddler myself, and i know what you mean!
You want to make it more grown up and colourful but not not spend alot of money!

If your in australia, you can go to spotlight, they have packs of kids furniture, such as say a toddler bad and some cupboards.Or just the beds, in characters, and they are reasonably cheap! It will last him till he is big enough for a single bed! Also they sell like tables and chairs!
But if you do not wish to go out and buy this new, id say just go to target or a store thats similiar and just buy a clip on rail. I think they are like $30. (or ebay)

Go to your local baby stores, and check out thier sales on decor for rooms. For my daughter i just picked up a pack (think there was 6-7) wooden decorations that you just stick on the wall. They are like princess theme, so castles and so on, they arent big maybe like 10cm x 10cm... and i think that was like $20. I dont know where your located (please tell me =]) cause i got these at baby kingdom! (Im in australia)
But alot of baby stores have sale bins on decor for rooms. You can usually find alot of nice things cheap!

Or if you really dont have time or money to search. You can just get old wrapping paper (that is in good condition) with nice prints for boys such as cars and so on (if you have non just go to a dicsount store and buy a sheet for $1!) and frame these. I have in my daiughters room, in a frame, the first wrapping paper she ever got from a gift when she was born. Its soo cute and is sentamental aswell! You can do this aswell with gift bags you have laying around!

Or you could simply get your son to draw pictures of his favourite things on bright coloured paper and frame this! And when he has friends or family over he can show it off!! Lets him contribute!

Hmm think thats all i can think of at the time sorry lol, we did so many things like this, not just to save money, but so its unique and different!

hope its helped!
goodluck!!
I will add any more ideas i come up with! =]

Hii(: Okay so music themed bedroom? Hmm...

IDEAS

- Maybe you can paint or stencil quotes from your favorite songs on your wall, with lime green or pink (:

- You can get a frame and go to like a store and buy vinatge records and put them in the frame and hang it up.

-Paint a treble clef staff or music notes on the fronts of dresser or bureau drawers for instant musical panache.

-You can put posters up

-You can purchase a musically-themed bedding set. You can also choose a solid colored bedding set and use music-themed pillows as accents.

-Put a radio in your room! Lol you can put a radio and just listen to music (:

Hope this helped! Xoxox Good Luck!â¥

Im a 14 year old girl and Im looking for a little something to spice up my room. I recently got a new bedspread with bright pink, blue, and green. But besides my bed, everything else seems so dull. i could use some girly-ish things on my wall, floor, and/or desk. Im kind of on a budget so nothing to pricey please. Thanks! :)

Answer
You can create an entire theme for your room with paint, which is one of the easiest ways to decorate!
Perhaps you could try a Picket Fence Stencil and do a "white picket fence" around the room, then using flower stencils and a little creativity, create your own English Garden.

How can I make my bedroom cozier and prettier?

Zoe

I am 13yr old girl and I want to make my bedroom feel like a place I actually want to hang out in because at the moment it is sort of boring. But the problem is I can't paint the walls and I only have a budget of about $50. I want to make it indie or vintage looking.

Answer
It's always fun redecorating! :) I hope you're able to find some things you like that are within your budget. Here are some answers and ideas I found online that should help you out. Good luck!

Idea 1: Hobby Lobby has beautiful vintage looking stuff. They are always having sales!

Idea 2: DIY lacy/doily lamps! (it's the second link below)

Idea 3: They have cute scrapbook boxes at AC Moore ( www.acmoore.com) and you can stuff almost anything in them. I have about 4 and they're helpful and come in a variety of colors. I always think a painting or 2 make a room look nice. You can also find some removable wall stickers at most art stores, but I'm not so sure about the price. For the furniture, pick a color you like and make sure they contrast. Like, don't pick dark brown furniture with a gray comforter.

Idea 4: Animal prints, polka dots, stripes, or retro would all look pretty good. Just pick your favorite them and go with it.

Happy decorating!

Any Halloween Party Activity Ideas?

Q. My mom and I are trying to plan a Halloween party for my friends and I. We already made up the total of decorations which is $57.20. But we don't have any ideas to do during the party. We haven't sent out invitations yet beacuse we don't want to have a boring party, and pay for all the decors. So all we have now Is to watch horror movies and do a creepy scavenger hunt. Also, We are only 6th graders. But we act like 8th graders so don't think we are babies 'n stuff. -.-

Answer
here are some games you can play with your friends.

tricked or treated

cut out paper pumpkins. you need exactly the amount of everyone playing. on one write treat and on the others write dares that you think your friends might do

e.g.
cackle like a witch
howl at the moon
act like a zombie
walk like frankenstein
flap your wings like a bat
sing monster mash
dance like a fairy
laugh maniacally

put pumpkins in a witch's hat or large plastic pumpkin and have each person pick one. if they pick treat, they get a treat (you can get a large bag of individually wrapped misc candy for this). if they pick trick they have to do the trick before they get a treat.

candy corn relay

have two groups do a relay with candy corn. they have to transfer candy corn from one container to another container across the room with a tsp. whichever group finishes first, wins

fear factor

have two plastic pumpkins with misc food items wrapped in foil .... two groups again...each person picks an item and has to eat it.....game goes on until all the items are gone.

some items
olive
boiled egg
hershey's kiss
kiwi
pea soup baby food(take it outof the jar - looks really gross)
(you get the idea)

hide the skeleton

get some jointed paper skeletons from walmart (they're really cheap). on the back of each part, put a dot with a marker. depending on how many groups one skeleton would have orange dots, one would have black dots etc. take them apart and hide the various parts around the house or wherever the party is. each group has to find the various parts and put their skeleton back together. whoever does it first wins.

balloon game - this can be done before guests arrive

you can play it two ways
tie a string on the end of the balloons and tie each balloon to every person's ankle. the object of the game is to be the last one to get your balloon popped.

have the balloons on the floor. each team has to grap a balloon and sit on it til it pops. when it pops the next person has to do it until everyone has a turn. (this one is hilarious)

I have a party for my kids every year and these are their favorite games that they ask for again and again. (they're 15, 17 and 20 - and yes, they want yet another party LOL)

birthday party ideas?

My daughter will be turning 3 and I will be having a Little Mermaid theme party at my pool. I also have a big room for food and activities. I need some unique and cute ideas for food, decor, and games. Can anyone help?? thanks

Answer
Take one of the Mermaid songs, change the words a bit and make it the invitation to the party. Deliver it in a soda bottle filled with a little sparklie sand and tiny "thingambobs"

Pin the tail on the Mermaid, OR Place the Trident in King Tritons hand.

Make a Giant Ursela, let the children do something to her... think about it.... put red lipstick on her, throw rings over her tenticles, ... so forth.

The Little crab, Sebastian. Make a hunt for him game, like in the movie where he hid from the chef. Hide little crabs everywhere and let kids find them.

Buy cheap plastic thin blue table sheets / cloths, hang from walls, to make the room like the sea color. Decorate each with sea scenes, mermaids, dolphins, starfish.

Buy same plastic cheap thin table sheets/ cloths, cut in long slivers like seaweeds, hang from the ceiling in clusters of 3 to 4 to simulate seaweeds.

Hang a few fish from the ceiling.

Use a few green light bulbs if you can.

Hence make the room..... UNDER THE SEA.

Make goodie bags.... full of "thingambobs" and put in a treasure chest..use as decoration till party over. You can make a treasure chest out of cardboard easy enough.

I could go on and on. LOL I used to do parties like this for my daughter, who is now 18. We did a Beauty and the Beast party, very similar.
Watch the movie....alone.... think of the ways you can make party ideas.....

Cute one.....
Crab cakes... make a few cupcakes look like crabs...kids might not eat them, but the adults might, and if not... you can eat it later that night while you recuperate and take a long needed breathe.
