they both share a room its the master bedroom ...what colors, patterens, divide it into a girl and boys room

Answer
Personally, I think that 9 to 11 is a huge jump, maturity wise, especially with girls. She's probably starting to think about boys and friends and clothes, etc, and the boy is still a "little kid". It's important that you divide the space A: she's on the verge of becoming a teen and needs her own space to have privacy and escape and RELAX (i'm sure they love each other a lot but also get on each other's nerves) & B: once girls and boys start to mature it's better if they have separate bedrooms. You could definately divide the room up in a cool way. You could go to pottery barn for example, or somewhere similar, and buy some sheers with the cable system: (maybe in white or something neutral)
http://www.pbteen.com/products/p2496/?pkey=cwindow-curtains-drapes-sheers
or you could buy some room dividers (like the folding screens)
a "central space" is also an option. (a lounging, hanging out neutral space) Here you could have a pink floor chair and a blue, you could buy a different, more gender neutral rug, buy some girlier lamps for her, some wall decals for him, just mixing and matching. http://www.pbteen.com/gift/thm/thmlng/thmlngffb/
Or you could make their study space on the dividing line. And make it reflect both your little girl and little boy.http://www.pbteen.com/gift/thm/thmstu/thmstusbs/ (of course these are just starting points, you can always change things up)
If you cleanly divided the room, in the center, where the dividing (invisible of course) line is, you could put a couch and a rug and a tv, or their desks and a rug, or a long dresser that has her drawers on one side, his on the other, etc. you get the idea.
Pottery Barn Kids and Pottery Barn Teen are both great magazines that have wonderful ways of decorating rooms. They are also a great way to look for inspiration or cool ways of doing rooms. Take a look at their websites, and call for a catalog to brouse through for ideas. :) www.potterybarnkids.com & www.pbteen.com. Talk to your kids about how they might want their space to look. They each have the'r own preferences, hobbies- maybe she like dancing and he likes the ocean, etc etc. They probably both have great ideas... If you do decide that you just DON'T want divided rooms, you want them to share, take a look at this:
http://www.potterybarnkids.com/stylehouse/decorate/sharingspaces/index.cfm
You could always choose basic furnature, and have each pick out their own bedspreads, rugs, (little things)
Whatever

what can I do to divide my kids room, I have a 4 year old boy and 2 year old girl, any ideas?

babygirl

I'm moving and can only afford a two bedroom apartment right now but my kids are a boy and a girl. I've been told they can share a room til one of them turns five, my son will be five in November. I want to put a divider the room is big enough but they like to climb on things and pull things down so anyone have any ideas on what to do?

Answer
One idea I saw that might word is bamboo shades. Hang them side by side in the middle of the room, they can be rolled down to divide the room. OR you could put book cases in the middle of the room one facing her side and one facing his.

SOYOUWANNA PAINT A ROOM?
1. Get The Right Equipment
2. Prepare
3. Paint
4. Mater Special Effects
5. Clean Your Equipment

If you're like us, your bedroom probably consists of four white walls - much resembling the crazy house that your life has become. Sure, you might have a picture or two hung up, and tables, rugs, the bed, people, etc. all add flavor. However, you can add the perfect touch of character to any room merely by painting the walls.

So we suggest that you take a deep breath, imbue the spirit of Martha Stewart, and get ready to paint the town (and your room) red. And one more time, we really must say how proud we are of you that you decided to paint a room on your own. You are officially a non-wussy.

But, even non-wussies can screw up a simple project. So, to ensure your paint job is streak- and tacky-free, take a look at this video.

http://www.expertvillage.com/video-series/1389_painting-inout.htm

1. GET THE RIGHT EQUIPMENT
While fingerpainting your walls may be good for a kindergartener's room we suspect that you're actually trying to fool people into thinking that your paint job was done professionally. So to do so, you'll need some supplies:

3-inch flat brush
Small angled brush for trim or corners
Canvas drop cloths, plastic tarps or newspapers
Spackle (a substance used to fill in cracks before painting)
Turpentine (if using oil-based paint)
Bucket to clean brushes in
Painter's tape or masking tape
Putty knife
Sandpaper
Primer
Cleaning rags
Roller (with extension pole for tall walls or ceilings)
Roller tray
Disposable rubber gloves
Oh, and getting some paint would help, wouldn't it, Einstein? First measure the square footage of the surfaces you're going to paint in order to know how much you'll need. Paint cans tell you how much paint they contain in square footage, so as long as you measure, you'll be fine.

Here's how to pick the right paint:

Choose a type of paint
Choose a finish
Choose a color
Choose a shade
Choose your brushes and rollers

Choose a type of paint

The type of paint you use (and its finish) are essential factors if you want a neatly painted room. Substances like mercury and lead, which were used for centuries in paint, are now banned. That's because it's dangerous to eat the paint chips of lead- or mercury-based paint. Sure, you don't eat paint chips, but little kids eat all kinds of disgusting things (bugs, boogers, play-doh, etc.); if they eat lead-based paint, they could suffer from brain deficiencies later in life. Here are the two types of paint you should consider:

Latex-based paint. This is easiest to work with and the easiest to clean up -- only soap and water are required. Latex is best used on walls, floors and metal surfaces. It also works well on woodwork.

Oil-based paint. This is also known as alkyd-based, and requires a solvent-like turpentine to clean off of paintbrushes, your skin, and the telephone when you answer it in an unguarded moment. Oil-based paint is stain-resistant and sticks well to walls and ceilings. It is particularly popular for bathrooms and kitchens.
Choose a finish

Once you've decided on the merits of latex versus oil, you must pick a finish (the same color of paint will usually be available in a choice of finishes). A paint's finish affects how shiny the finished paint job will look as follows:

Flat finish: This finish is good for large surfaces, since it doesn't reflect light. It is often used in bedrooms, living rooms, dining rooms and ceilings.

Satinfinish: Such a finish is excellent to brighten up hallways, common areas, and children's bedrooms and playrooms. It helps soften the paint job, muting bright colors but still allowing the color to shine through.

Semi-gloss finish: This finish is easy to clean, making it great for high-traffic areas (kitchens, bathrooms, doorsâ¦).

Glossfinish: This finish reflects the most light and tends to be used in small quantities (such as on trim).
Contrary to popular belief, finish was not invented in Finland. That would be the "Finnish."

Choose a color

White - White (and its various incarnations such as off-white, beige, and eggshell), provides a can't-go-wrong foundation for any room. Yes, it's boring, but it also doesn't distract. It also makes a room look brighter and bigger. It's great for just about any room, especially bathrooms and kitchens. At its worst, white is: too plain.

Red - Bright and bold, red suggests vitality and aggressiveness. It can be a bit overwhelming for an entire room, but if you have a bedroom that you want to convey amorous vibes, it's a unique way to go. Deep, subtle shades of red such as burgundy and maroon are perfect for living rooms. At its worst, red is: too dramatic.

Yellow - Stimulating, sunny and cheerful, yellow is associated with intellect, power and creative energy. Bright yellows bring warmth and light into dark rooms, and pale yellows make small rooms seem larger. It's also a great kitchen color. At its worst, yellow is: disruptive.

Blue - Blue denotes harmony, peace, steadfastness and loyalty. While it's appropriate for any room, blue is an excellent bedroom color because it makes one feel comforted and serene. It can also soften rooms that are over-bright. At its worst, blue is: cold.

Orange - Orange combines the energy of red with the intellectual associations of yellow. Dominant and lively, it's a fun choice for bathrooms and work areas. Peachy oranges have a delicate effect, while brownish oranges (like terra cotta) give off warm, cozy vibes. Many living rooms are orange to give it that "den" feeling. At its worst, orange is: non-relaxing.

Green - Green is refreshing and pleasing to the eye. It makes dim apartments seem more vibrant by bringing a garden-like atmosphere indoors. With its varying shades, green works in just about any room. Just be sure not to go too dark. At its worst, green is: dull.

Violet - Strong and majestic, violet is a powerful accent color. Pastel violets take on the characteristics of red or blue depending on which is more prominent in the shade. (Lilac, for example, takes on blue's characteristics, while lavender takes on red's qualities.) At its worst, violet is: overpowering.

Black - You probably like heavy metal, S&M, or some combination thereof. Either way, it's way more than we want to know about you. So don't paint a room black. It'll freak people out. Black walls also tend to look dirty because dust shows up very clearly.

Deep "warm" colors give a room an intimate, cozy feel: red-violet, red, red-orange, orange, yellow-orange, and yellow.

Light "cool" colors make a room seem more spacious and elegant: green, blue-green, blue, and blue-violet. White also has this effect.

Choose a shade

One of the biggest problems that painters face is that what looks to be "orange" on the sample in the store turns out to be "brown" on your wall. So it's incredibly important to pick the right shade of paint by examining it under different sources of light. Here are some tips:

Examine the paint you desire under both natural light and the bulbs that light up the room to be painted. Again a color that looks perfect under the store's fluorescent rays will turn to bilious shades at home.

Get samples of the paints you like, coat large sheets of poster board to get a sense of the paint and prop them up around the room to be painted. Look at them at different times of day, because morning light will have a different impact than sunset light. This will help you narrow your choice and prevent costly mistakes.

Lighting fixtures also play a part. Diffused light will enrich the color of walls and ceilings, whereas spotlights which focus on certain points will change the color and add shadows to other areas.

Also look at the poster boards when the room is furnished as it will be after the paint job. Furniture and curtains absorb light and create a different effect than an empty room. You'll also be able to see if the paint clashes with the furniture.

When using white or off-white paint, remember it reflects colors around it, such as a blue carpet or burgundy furniture. In general, lighter colors distort less with changes of light than deeper colors.

Remember, the higher the gloss in a paint, the more light it will reflect.
Choose your brushes and rollers

Now that you know what kind of paint you're using, it's a cinch to figure out what type of brush (and/or roller) you'll need. You don't necessarily need both, but there are positives and negatives to each. Rollers help the job go faster and can make your paint job look neater. But rollers are also difficult to use in corners or weird surfaces. No matter what, you're going to need a brush for touch-ups, but we recommend that you start with a roller too.

If you're using oil-based paint:

Get a brush with natural bristles.
Get a natural (lamb's wool) roller.
If you're using latex-based paint:

Get a brush with synthetic bristles (because natural bristles absorb the water in latex paint).
Get a synthetic (nylon) roller.
One last note: rollers come in different pile depths, meaning the thickness of fiber used on the roller. The rule of thumb is to use a smoother pile with the smoother surface, and the rugged piles with the rougher surfaces (so they can reach into the nooks and crannies).

How does a teenage male decorate his room motocross theme?

Answer
Look at this room, it'll be good idea to put up wall decals of bikes above your bed in the same way:

http://boysthemebedrooms.com/skater/Skateboarding_bedding-skateboard_theme_bedroom_decorating_ideas.gif

Buy the decals from:

http://www.amazon.com/gp/search/ref=sr_nr_i_4?rh=k%3Amotocross+decals%2Ci%3Agarden&keywords=motocross+decals&ie=UTF8&qid=1280300470

http://www.wall-decals.eu/Kids/MotoCross-wall-decal-sticker/prod_252.html

http://hadesdesigns.com/interior-decor/motocross-wall-decals-appliques/

Don't buy motocross bedding as it might be an overkill of the theme. Look at this as an option:

http://www.amazon.com/Tommy-Hilfiger-Comforter-American-Denim/dp/B000GFGIK0/ref=combo_pack_i_9

With accent pillows:

http://www.amazon.com/Smooth-Industries-Signature-Pillows-Pastrana/dp/B001AWGAIS/ref=pd_sim_sg_2

The bed spread and accent pillow will go great with your wall colors too.

Dedicate one wall to your posters and motocross memorabilia. Don't scatter this stuff around the room!

Good Luck :)

I have to walk through bathroom to get to my bedroom, How to solve it in Feng Shui?

I live with my sister and she built more room upstairs behind the bathroom and a new room happens to be my bedroom , I have to walk through the bathroom. How can I solve it in Feng Shui way? Should I put anything in the bathroom?

Answer
Well, ideally the bedroom should not be immediately opposite, above or below the bathroom, kitchen, next to the living room or children's playroom. You can enhance the yin-yang and the feng shui five elements balance with the appropriate color scheme and decor objects with the present arrangement that cannot be avoided.
Your bed should be the only big piece of furniture in your bedroom. You can opt for a wood frame instead of metal, a natural mattress and high quality cotton sheets. There should be minimum electrical fixtures but enough light and no synthetic materials in your bedroom.
A good Feng Shui bedroom supports vibrant health and happy relationships.
Sleeping is a Yin activity and therefore the bedroom should be located in a low activity area at the back of your home. A good Feng Shui bedroom is a cozy, relaxed and nurturing environment, as it is a sacred place where you renew yourself as well as share the most intimate moments with those you love. Your bedroom is your ultimate relaxing place where you are at your most vulnerable while you sleep and recharge your chi. From a yin/yang perspective, this is a more yin, quiet and peaceful environment; you need to feel protected and do not want distracting and powerful chi to disturb you. At the same time, there needs to be a good circulation of chi and plenty of fresh air available to recharge you.
Given that the bedroom is a more yin environment, the lighting that you choose needs to reflect this. Soft lighting is ideal. Avoid having ceiling lamps right directly over your bed. Pastel colors are ideal. Avoid sleeping with your image visible in a mirror. the worst scenario of all is a mirror at the foot of your bed. Place something beautiful that fills you with inspiration if you where to have a first look in the morning. Do not clutter under your bed. Keep the space clear and get rid of any unwanted items there.
For bathrooms, you can as well use feng Shui, remember two thousand years ago homes did not have bathrooms or toilets inside the home, so why now is it bad Feng Shui? The only thing you have to remember is all bathrooms should have the door closed at all times and it is kept clean, other than that do not worry if your head is facing the bathroom wall, your luck will not be affected at all.
The truth is that there is no really good placement for a bathroom in Feng Shui, at least in part because maybe the ancient Chinese system was developed before indoor plumbing. No matter where your bathroom is, there are simple fixes you can do so your good luck wonât just keep on going down the drain. Find out what they are ---
Feng Shui suggests:
1.Putting an uplifting picture or statue (a bird, a tree) in the area underneath the bathroom.
2. Hang a faceted crystal from the center of the bathroom ceiling.
3. Put an earth-related object (a crystal, terra cotta vase, or stone) in each corner of the bathroom.

Q. I want to re-do my bedroom with some stylish new themes and can't really think of any. I want it to be a theme that you can find alot of cool stuff for thats not too expensive.
I was kinda thinking something with movies posters?? cuz i love alot of different movies but im really open to anything!

Answer
As our family has recently moved, I am decorating my new room in an ocean theme. We had taken a trip to California last fall and I fell in love with the ocean (even more so than I had every other time I had been out there.) We drove up the PCH (Pacific Coastal Highway), through Malibu and many other breathtaking places. When we reached our destination, my fondest memories are just of us sitting on the beach watching the waves crash onto shore. That is what I am going to attempt to recreate in my room, but I am still looking for ideas from others who have done this. Most other rooms I've seen have either underwater ocean themes (mostly kids rooms), or they do an ocean themed room with just solid wall colors. I want to create an ocean-like experience on at least one wall. You can usually pick up ocean-like nicknacks at garage sales or thrift stores.
My advice: Pick out a favorite place, whether it's an ocean or in the heart of New York City, and if you have large enough walls, there are usually wall-murals you can buy. (I had one in my old room.) That way when you enter your room, you feel as if you are in your favorite place.

Will my baby like this?

Simply

I have about 10 really big poster boards from a while back that I never used. They are maybe 18 inches by 24 inches.
I am pretty good at cartoon drawings, and I'm 16 weeks pregnant.
Today, I made a picture for my baby. I drew a big cartoon stegosaurus with a simple background.
I'm planning on making a few other pictures for my baby. They will be gender neutral because I don't know the sex for about a month.
I'm using black permanent marker to make all the lines solid, then using crayon for the coloring medium. When they are finished I will have them each laminated so they will last for years.
I am hoping my baby will like them, even as it gets older, like six years old.

Other themes I'm thinking of are an underwater scene, and elephant theme, and a cat.

Ooooooo. Dinos! And underwater! Coooooool.

Oh! And space! Do stuff about space! Please?

Ooops. Forgot. It's not for MY bedroom wall, is it?

Yah, your kid will probably love it. Even later, when they're older, but won't admit it any more 'cause it's "baby stuff." ha ha

How to decorate a bedroom with salmon carpets?

boys bedroom sets with desk

boys bedroom sets with desk image

lilmisspun

My parents just bought a new house and my bedroom isn't an actual bedroom, it was the previous owner's office. Therefore, there isn't a closet or anything. Its a fairly large room, somewhere upwards of 200 sq feet. However, the carpets are this nasty salmon color and there are also these ugly counters that we can't take out.. I've attached a little collage of pictures of the room. The wall shelves are being taken out, and half of the counters were able to be taken out (the ones on the back wall as well as the one closest to the bottom left corner in the top left photo). Also, before I move in the wall that looks unfinished will be completed..

Things I definitely need in the room:
- 2 wardrobes (already have them, they're a light espresso color)
- bed ( haven't purchased the bed frame yet)
- desk (light wood finish)
-small, 4' high book shelf (light wood finish)
- small flat screen tv (currently have that on my bookshelf, but I'm not sure if that will work with the size of my new room)

I have a black la-z-boy recliner that I MIGHT put in the room, and plan on buying another desk (a vanity style), etc.. I am on a budget as I am 19, and I prefer the look of darker wood finish.. I want the room to be like a small studio apartment, with as many separate areas as possible (studying, sleeping, beauty area, etc) since I have the space to do so.

Any ideas on how to make this room a little less ugly? I was thinking maybe add cabinet doors to the counter, and maybe get some cream colored fabric to cover the counter tops with? I'm open to any idea though (they cannot be painted, and I also cannot paint the walls a color other than white)

Answer
Wow, what a space !
First you need a ceiling.Add some pot lights and remove those florescent lights.
Remove the shelves and trash them or use them else where.

A larger bed would fit in the space. You can put it next to the window. You can use a woven headboard :http://www.overstock.com/Home-Garden/Abaca-Weave-Headboard/7213500/product.html
The walls can be painted a grey.
Try mostly white and navy blue bedding .http://luxury-linens-4-less.com/436-1366-large/3pc-hotel-framed-navy-blue-and-white-bedding-duvet-cover-set.jpg

Put your desk and study area at the end of the room away from your bed.
In the middle you can have a table with your tv and some sift chairs .

AlphonzoA

I am the president of our theater guild and I actually don't like the two options mentioned above. i was thinking about something people could relate to; like: Bye Bye Birdie. nothing with complicated sets but lots of fun songs and energy. Please help me.

Answer
Grease is so overdone. I suggest you do something more recent and fresh. Not to mention it requires a lot of set (you need to built some type of car!) Here are some ideas for you that are fun, but don't require that much set:

9 to 5- The rights to this show just came out. Its based of of the Dolly Parton movie and a lot of her songs are in this show so its something modern that people would really love to hear. It does require an office set and a bedroom set, but just get a couple of desks and a bed and your good to go! Here's the website for licensing: http://www.mtishows.com/show_detail.asp?showid=000385

Shrek- The rights to this JUST came out. People have been waiting forever to do this show because its just so much fun! It does require some set like castles and things, but its shrek so it can be fun and creative and it doesn't require that much set. Though you will need some crazy costumes! Here's the website for licensing http://www.mtishows.com/show_detail.asp?showid=000372

Seussical- I've been in this show twice and its so much fun! Its a great one to do at a school and its a real crowd pleaser. Its based off of the books of Doctor Seuss such as The Cat in the Hat and Horton Hears a Who. It is so much fun and really doesn't require that much set. We did it at our High School with a very limited budget. Here is the website for licencing: http://www.mtishows.com/show_detail.asp?showid=000229

Footloose- Again another show I have been in. It is so much fun and it features crowd pleasers such as Footloose, Lets hear it for the boy, and Holding out for a hero. It is such a great show! And it really doesn't require that much set. Here is where you can licence it from: http://www.rnh.com/show/38/Footloose

Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dream Coat- I adore this show it has one of the best scores to sing and dance to. It is just so much fun to be in. it pretty much requires no set at all. Its a great one to be in and it really features the ensemble. It does have a lot of male parts, but if your musical is made up of mostly women (like most high schools are) you can just change the brothers to sisters. Here is where you can licence it: http://www.rnh.com/show/57/Joseph-and-the-Amazing-Technicolor-Dreamcoat

I think Bye Bye Birdie is a great choice as well! I was in that show and it was a blast. Here is where you can licence it from: http://www.tams-witmark.com/musicals/byebirdie.html

Hope this helps! :)

We want to buy a Recreational Vehicle to live in full time?

kids room decor in canada
on how to decorate kid s bedrooms in a hockey theme
kids room decor in canada image

Vasara

In the next 3 years when the kids are off to school my husband and I want to Full Time in an RV. The following is what we are looking for:

Something to tow behind a large truck
Has a "homey" feel and decor
separate bedroom from the rest of the rooms
washer and dryer
a lot of storage
automatic leveling

Something along these lines. Any ideas as to what brands and models we should start looking into?

Answer
This can be the adventure of a life time or go the other direction. The key is to plan ahead of time like you are doing, and I suggest that you keep your home so you always have a home base many people sell all they have and hit the open road. The price of gas is a reality check that is harsh these days, you should consider a diesel dually pickup for a tow vehicle and a fifth wheel of some type, but I would suggest a diesel pusher bus of some kind and towing a small car or suv. There are many good reasons for this among them 2 or 3 slide outs, storage space and all the ammenities that you talked about.
I highly recommend that you start going to any RV shows that you hear about, and possibly renting an RV for a week or a month and just taking a trip to see how you like living like that. I did it for many years, and found that the more space you have the better off you are in the long run. And keep in mind that a lot of people follow the weather for example the north coast of california, oregon and washington state in the summer and fall then the snow birds all head south to arizona or to florida in the winter. There is a lot of give and take living in an RV and there is nothing more boring than a winter cooped up inside due to storm after storm and cold dank weather.
So start doing your research now is a great idea, also I believe online still is an outfit called camping world, I got my insurance through them as well as they had stores online RV accessories and I belive there are still a club for RVers that was a lot of fun back when my family did the traveling thing, I lived on the northcoast of california above san francisco In Eureka CA and traveled north as far as canada, there are weeks if not months of areas to explore there, and of course all of canada and alaska above that. It all depends on what your plans are and where you live. Be sure thats the way you want to live before you commit a lot of resources because those nice RVs of any type are not cheap and do your research, there is a lot of look good crap for sale in this world. have fun I loved it

Winter hibernation triggers breeding

Origins: Several species of garter snakes exist throughout the USA and Canada. They live most places where they have access to water â including your backyard.

The Garter Name: They are called GARTER snakes because they look like a garter. They are NOT gardner snakes. They will eat some of the pests in your garden, but GARTER snakes will not help you garden. Actually, they will not hold your socks up either, but forget that line of thought.

Cage: You can keep a small garter snake in a 10-gallon aquarium for a while. We recommend larger quarters, so they get the exercise they need. In the wild, garter snakes move around a lot in search of food.

Hide Box. Most snakes prefer a hide box. Garters will live without one, but the box or cave gives them a secure place to hide. Lots of predators eat them: large birds, raccoons, opossums, skunks, and cats. Kids, of course, love collecting them. Theyâll fill a bucket full if they find a nest

Temperature: Since garter snakes slither wild in Iowa, you know they adapt to a wide variety of temps. They avoid the hotter periods of the day. And they take the winter off.

Temperament: Garter snakes actively hunt their prey. However, they rarely bite people. Theyâre runners not fighters. Their main defense when captured involves emitting a white, smelly liquid that repels some predators. Luckily, they stop emitting this substance after a short time in captivity.

Maximum Size. Garter snakes usually top out at three feet. Most stay a bit smaller. Females grow the largest.

Garter snakes love goldfish -- surprisingly large goldfish.

Garter snakes like guppies also.

Foods: Garter snakes love goldfishes. A group of garters will feed heartily from a water bowl containing live goldfish. They look like cobras when they lift their head and body up with a mouthful of goldfish. They will also eat deceased goldfish. They also love earthworms and baby rodents. Theyâre nearly always eager to eat and can get chubby in captivity.

Supplements: Garter snakes fed goldfish tend to suffer from thiamin (vitamin B1) deficiency. An occasional earthworm dipped in powdered reptile vitamins should prevent this problem. Warning: Occasional means at least two weeks apart. Donât overdose the vitamins.

Lighting: Most snakes donât need full-spectrum light, but garters do appreciate a regular day and night schedule â without bright lights. If your garter snake gets an occasional baby rodent, youâll see no problem with vitamin or calcium deficiency.

Water: Garter snakes love water. However, they prefer a dry substrate. Donât slop water in their cage

Furnishings: Give garter snakes some wood chunks or branches to clamber over. Garters also need wood to âcatchâ their skin on when shedding. Artificial or real plants make no difference to your garter, but they sure make your cage look better. Keep your decor easy to clean.

Handling: Feel free to handle your garters (except right after feeding). Support them well. And donât squeeze them. Their âover-activenessâ and attempts to âmake a run for itâ tempt you to grasp them too roughly.

Last Word: Always wash your hands thoroughly after handling any reptile. And keep them out of your mouth.

I need to make a jungle at school? How shall I start? I wish to make a pond and children dressed as animals?

I need it for display at school exhibition. Its a room project. The theme is jungle. Need some songs for it

Answer
For the Jungle try a carpet warehouse for cardboard rolls, cardboard from TV shops etc, they just skip it along with polystyrene packing.Fasten it all together with PVA type glue and newspaper.Short ends of cardboard rolls with paper glued over the end makes great drums.I hope you have the kids already,as making them takes a while. They will make the music for you if given the inevitable glued up brushes.Any strips of left over paper will always stick to the little darlings,so have a tape recorder to hand for when Mummy comes round for additional sound effects,or failing that colour the paper strips black and yellow for the tigers.Be careful as the one that I did included a giant spiders' web but I lt my little angels put it over the fire escape ,so,when the Head came racing through during the fire drill he got rather tied up!!Yours truly,a retired art teacher. Don't laugh too much I nearly forgot the pond............

Can you tell me some ways to organize a kid's room in a pretty way?

Can you tell me some ways to organize a kid's room in a pretty way?

Answer
Creating a jungle theme kids bedroom is an opportunity to use really fun colors and prints. Consider painting the room a fresh green or a bright yellow to provide a warm and exotic backdrop for the rest of the room's elements.

Instead of typical window treatments, think about getting some silk vines and foliage from the craft store and draping them around the windows as you would with a scarf curtain. Then perch stuffed parrots or monkeys nearby to round out the jungle canopy effect.

You can use jungle themed bedding, or simply use bright solids and stripes, and accent the room with throw pillows in animal-print fabrics. There are several sources for wall stickers in a jungle theme to add even more visual interest.

Fairy Tale Princess Themes

Many elements of décor for little girls' rooms lend themselves to dreaming of once upon a time and far, far away. From canopy beds to eyelet and lace and pale pink, you may already have many of the elements in place to make your daughter's room a real Princess's room. To bring the fantasy one or two step closer to reality, rely on some paint techniques and a few choice accessories.

Paint the ceiling a sky blue and sponge paint on some clouds; turn the walls of your girl's room into castle walls with faux painting techniques, and embellish them with stenciled runners of ivy â you can even add some silk ivy from the craft store for additional dimension. Swath tulle or silk flowers where you'd otherwise put a valance and curtains, and be sure to add a stuffed frog prince someplace in the room ⦠just for a bit of whimsy!

What gymnastics equipment is best for at home for a 5 & 6 year old?

Kathleen

What gymnastics equipment should I buy for my 5 year old girl and my 6 year old boy to have at home for extra practice? They are about 1-2 years before starting the competitive level. I don't have a lot of room at home. Will a junior training bar be too flimsy/small for a 60 lb. boy? Should I get an incline mat? A foldable one? Please name the top three things I should buy that will work now and for the next couple of years.

Answer
Okay, I have four suggestions:

1. A Chin-Up Bar - the kind that hangs inside a door jamb. This can be used for pullups, chinups, leg lifts, and a variety of other strength exercises. Developing upper body strength will give both of them a huge advantage. Guys have four events that use primarily upper body strength (Rings, P-Bars, High Bar and Pommel Horse). Strong arms are a must! Girls only have one "arm" event (Uneven Bars) - and since they don't use those muscles for much else, that's where girls are usually the weakest. Conditioning at home will give her a huge head start. Make a little chart to hang by the bar so they can keep track of how many pullups, leg lifts, etc. they do - and reward them with a small treat when they reach a certain number. But don't force them to do it - let it be their choice. Otherwise it will become a chore and they'll avoid that bar like the plague. Be sure to hang the bar low enough that they can reach it themselves (you can raise it as they grow taller). And make sure they know it is NOT to be used for swinging or flipping. If they slip off while swinging or hanging upside down, they could be severely injured. (This is why I would strongly discourage you from getting a training bar at home). There will plenty of time to practice skills at the gym, with their coach - and if they've been working on their strength at home, those skills will come a lot more quickly.

2. A foldable Panel Mat - this can be used for a zillion different things throughout their gymnastics careers. Coaches use folded up panel mats for all kinds of drills and exercizes, which your kids will be able to practice at home. Unfolded, they can use it to practice skills that they've learned at gymnastics. Just make sure they're doing skills that they can safely perform on their own. They should never attempt something at home that they haven't already mastered at the gym.

3. For your daughter: a low floor beam. She'll be able to use this for as long as she's in gymnastics. It doesn't need to be elevated; in fact, she'll actually get more out of it if it lays flat on the floor. When you eliminate the fear (and danger) of falling off, she'll be more likely to do a lot more repetitions of the skill she's practicing - which is the whole point of a practice beam.

3. For your son: A Mushroom and/or a set of floor pommels like this:
http://www.theamericangym.com/proddetail.asp?prod=T%2D178
Pommel Horse is the guys' toughest event. The more he can practice, the better!

I wouldn't recommend an incline mat. For one thing, they're huge and bulky. Unless you have a place to store it (and the energy to put it away after each use), it will become a new piece of living room furniture - and the primary colors they come in tend to clash with most home decor! Also, it won't be useful for very long - they're generally just used for learning a few beginning level skills. And most importantly - incline mats are used in the learning stages of a skill, with the help or supervision of a coach. Having one at home will tempt your kids to try skills they can't do by themselves - which is not only dangerous, but it will cause them to learn bad habits.

Same goes for any other type of gymnastics equipment. Just not a good idea to have at home. If they teach themselves a skill at home, it will most likely be wrong - and then the coach will have to back them up and re-teach it, which will make the process longer. And then there's the safety issue. Even if you think your kids are responsible and careful, one of their friends might decide to try something - and next thing you know, you've got a lawsuit on your hands. And you WILL be found at fault, because you've made dangerous equipment accessible without qualified instruction.

Hope this helps some!

White and Black bedroom decorating ideas?

Im going to be in grade eight and im moving into a new house. My bedroom will be themed black and white. Is there a color that would be a good accent for my themed ones? What are some decorating ideas, or things i could buy for it?

Answer
Black and white with an accent color is one of the easiest themes to pull off. What I usually suggest is black & white plus your favorite color (two or three shades of the color - maximum). If I were doing this for me, I'd pick teal or turquoise or a royal blue as those are my favorites :) and I'd go with a black & white patterned bedding - just NOT zebra print as I feel it has been done to death in recent years.

Pick black or white for your furniture or go for a dark wood.

Wall color could be a light to medium gray OR a light to medium shade of your third color. If you use gray for the walls, then use your third color for accent pieces like curtains, throws or pillows. If you use a darker shade of paint, then use mainly lighter shades of the same color for your accents with maybe one item the same shade as the paint. If you use a lighter shade of paint, then do the reverse.
Here's a nice turquoise/teal for instance:

or gray:

http://www.target.com/p/room-essentials-turquoise-rose-reversible-comforter/-/A-14432001#prodSlot=medium_1_1

Target is great for black & white bedding and they also have a great selection of black & white photo posters that are reasonably priced. With a black & white themed bedroom you can use black, white or silver toned frames for your posters/pictures. Depending upon the size you need, you may be able to obtain frames to fit your color scheme at your local dollar stores.

Hope this gives you some ideas to work with and helps you out.

Hey!

How old are you? Will you be attending college? Will you be alone or with husband/kids?

Are we talking houses or apartments? Renting or buying?
www.craigslist.org is the best site to search for apartments. (and houses, and jobs, and furniture, and pets!!)
http://losangeles.craigslist.org/apa/...
All the apartments on sites like rent.com and apartments.com are just going to be fancy apartments that can spend money on advertising.

The BEST thing about Los Angeles is that there are apartments EVERYWHERE. There are probably more apartments than houses! You just have to really look around.

If you are looking to buy a home I suggest you try www.ziprealty.com and look into areas such as Palmdale and San Bernadino which are near Los Angeles and a bit cheaper. Oh Pomona is pretty cheap also.

Gas Prices
Currently $3.40 - $3.90

Rent
1 bedroom ranges from $700 - 1400 depending on area
2 bedroom ranges from $900 - 2200 depedning on area
Average 1 bedroom is probably $1100, average 2 bedroom probably $1500

Bills
Are suposed to be a little higher than average but I'm not really sure

Traffic
HORRIBLE TERRIBLE HORRIBLE . Taking the bus is many times better - and cheaper. $52 bucks a month gets you unlimited rides. And if you are going to be at UCLA and on the Westside alot then another $60 for the Santa Monica bus. IF you have a car, parking at UCLA is alot. And of course gas and insurance both are terribly expensive out here.

Neighborhoods
I reccomend Glendale area. Glendale is a bit cheaper than the average but also very nice and very safe. Glendale / Burbank / Pasadena is the best area to live in with regards to both price and quality. Glendale has a local bus for a quarter, rent for 1 bedroom is $800-1000 with Pasadena and Burbank being about $900-1200.

Hollywood is nice if you want a bit more excitement and flavor. Hollywood ranges from really cheap to really expensive. North hollywood is really cheap $700 apartment.

Entertainment
Hundreds of clubs, bars, strip clubs, restaurants, malls, movie theatres, complexs, fairs, festivals, events, etc.etc. It is literally IMPOSSIBLE to be bored in Los Angeles. Whatever type of person you are there is something for you. There are hundreds of different neighborhoods and they are all different in some way. Whatever race you are, whatever weird activities you like, whatever music you like - you will never feel weird or alone in Los Angeles. It is a very exciting place to live. BUT the right area can still be good for families. It is possible to raise good well-rounded kids here if you live in the right area and raise them right.

If you are young or going here for college or don't have kids yet, you'll LOVE it here. It is just a paradise to be young in Los Angeles.

The buses run everywhere so despite what you hear you don't really need a car in L.A. It helps of course but it's so expensive these days to drive that it's nice to always have the bus there to fight traffic for you.

What's it like to live in Los Angeles? How do I find cheap & affordable housing?

Ms. Denton

How do I decorate my room in a vintage film-inspired style that's a bit edgy?

I just got a new house and wanted to decorate my bedroom in a vintage style, but with an artsy edge. I kind of wanted to incorporate a 1920s glamor style with the dresses, vanity chair etc, but also a 1960s style with things like andy warhol - kind of breakfast at tiffany's inspired. but i also wanted to make it a bit edgier, with kind of surrealist salvador dali-ish elements, and maybe some james dean. I want my room to be film-inspired, so maybe i could have some vintage film posters? I kind of have all these ideas but don't know how to incorporate them into one bedroom. If you have any suggestions about textures or color schemes that would be great. Also, I have a walk-in closet and a bathroom, so any suggestions for those would also be appreciated.

Answer
Art deco, an architectural style popular from the 1920s until the 1940s, is all about glamour. The use of mirrors was frequent in art deco design, along with rich woods, pale color schemes and splashes of animal print. The two styles complement each other, with art deco giving a touch of sophistication to the simplicity of contemporary.
Add glamour and sophistication with art deco elements. Include splashes of color in pastels In an all-white or cream color scheme, pinks and teals are the perfect art deco complements. Since you wanted to add posters, and you like Andy Warhol, why not frame a poster of Marilyn Monroe (which incorporates the pinks and teals) http://www.cvm.qc.ca/mboudreault/Images%20Jpeg/Andy%20Warhol,%20%20Marilyn.jpg
And perhaps a poster of one of Salvador Dali's prints (make sure the colors work with the other posters.)
Add crystal lamps for further glamour enhancement. And don't forget the animal print. No art deco room is complete without a little zebra or cheetah print. An animal skin on the floor, a velvet pillow and throw or an ottoman at the end of your bed.
You could incorporate a cute pewter wall hook that is reminescint of the 20s (flappers) and hang things like scarves, or sweaters from the hooks.

Either hang a movie reel clock (item 191), or to further incorporate Marilyn Monroe (and James Dean) go for the Monroe/Dean clock (item 239)
http://www.hometheatreinteriors.com/qs3/products.php?catid=10&category=CLOCKS#thumb
You could use a movie reel table as your nightstand
http://www.hometheatreinteriors.com/qs3/products.php?catid=3&category=FURNISHING
You could also hang a 3d movie reel metal sculpture (item 131) or the standard 3d comedy/tragedy metal sculpture (item 133) from the wall

What color or exactly to decorate my kids bedroom?

Proud mom

I am moving to a house and will needed painted. I wanted to paint and decorate my kids room. Both of them are boys. Three and a five year old. They both will be sleeping in the same room together. I am trying to figure out want to do for them to be happy in our new place and they like cars and balls. I really want it to be special.

Answer
Do you have a bed? If not-here is a link for a loft bed w/a tent. Its so cute. Too bad its not a bunk bed, though. Then you could get the sports bean bags, basketball clothes hamper.. etc

sports bed:
http://www.roomville.com/products/productDetail.asp?PROD_ID=357&DEPid=0&ROOT_dept=0

sports bean bag chairs:
http://www.target.com/gp/search.html/601-6331324-2538546?field-keywords=basketball%20bean%20bag%20chair&afid=yahoosspslp&lnm=basketball%20bean%20bag%20chair&ref=tgt_adv_XSJH1060

I wish my 4 year old wanted sports, I have found many more ideas and things to go with sports. but he wants monster trucks! I may get a tire and dip it in brown paint and make muddy tire tracks over his blue walls. Then hang posters up and maybe even get a wall murial. Also hang or paint road signs. if you do a search on wall murials and/or road signs you will find lots of ideas. the murials are really too expensive for me so I may try to do it myself! (MAYBE) they also have the wall "stick ups" for sports or cars. they are removable stickers. do a search if your interested.
anyway. good luck and have fun!

Does any1 have tips for designing my bedroom?

Q. i am a teenager boy and LOVES the florida gators! I have wall paper (blue with oragane penstripes and gator heads) and lightly colerd wood floors but them im stuck. i think i will probabaly just empty my room and start putting things in with the wall paper but i could use hints. keep in mind im only 13 not 18 and this is like a 400 sqaure foot room.i will put a soda macine and stuff like that but think and who ever has is the most useful answer will be my favorite answer!

Answer
Well alot of stores carry sport themed bedspreads, thats always an option. As for other things, hmm. There's always lamps, clocks, and storage items. I'm redoing my room also and when I searched for ideas I kept getting links to lockers for your room. Like actual school lockers, which if you painted them how you like would go with the football theme. You'll need a place for your friends to sit so beanbag chairs would be a good idea. I don't know if you play vidio games but if you do, racks to hold you games and a good chair to sit and play in. Maybe instead of getting a soda machine you could get one of those big water cooler things that they have at sport games. You know? Like a Gatoraid one? And then put in on a bar stool? Since I don't know your spending limit I'm kinda just putting random stuff down.

Am I rushing in to everything too fast?

kids bedroom sets sydney

kids bedroom sets sydney image
Q. Hi, sorry if this is long in advance and thank you so much to anyone who takes the time to read and answer it :)

Since my Mum got sick and died, I have been thinking about what *I* want out of life, and what I want to do with my life. So I have been looking through real estate just in case I found an apartment/unit or small house for cheap and I looked up a tiny town near the Snowy Mountains (Australianâs might know where that is, itâs like 6 hours from Sydney) and ironically our old house was for sale, we moved out of it when I was 2 after my dad died and moved to Sydney. I have always wanted to move back there (we go down there every winter for 3 weeks on a ski holiday) and the house is very cheap too (needs a lot done to it, but itâs livable).

Anyway seeing as it is coming in to winter here, I thought that if I did decide to move down there, I could easily get a job at one of the ski resorts and teach/help small kids to ski or snowboard (I have been doing both for as long as I can remember) and seeing as my godfather lives there and co-owns the Thredbo resort, Iâm pretty sure he could figure out something for me to do. Anyway, after winter and after the ski season is over, I can work in a family friends work (he owns â what is now a hotel â but owns a ski hire shop) and he called last night offering his condolences about my mum, so while he was on the phone I asked him about his shop and he said he always knew I would call up one day about it and that there would *always* be a job there for me.

Anyway, just working in his shop wouldnât pay for rent on a house or wouldnât pay to keep a house, so I also called up one of our closest family friends who owns the general store in the town I want to move to and also lives across the road from our old house, and she said that she is always looking for more people to help her run the store, because itâs such a small town, not many people want to work in the general store.

As far as schooling goes, I can finish out this year at the local high school and do my school certificate, then see if I want to go through to year 12, if I do and decide I want to go to UNI, there is one not too far away, but if I donât I can do a full course in becoming a ski and snowboard instructor and then after 2 years of working in Australia and New Zealand, I can go to other countries when it is winter there and teach there, there is potentially a lot of money in that.

But if I decide to stay here in Sydney (not really where I pictured my life anyway, I donât like the city), I will have to live with my grandma and my two sisters, in my grandmas two bedroom flatâ¦But one of my sisters is also looking to move out after this year, but wants to stay in Sydney.

Also if I decide to stay in Sydney, I wont have to move schools (not that that is anything big for me) and I wont have to get a job, yet. However, UNI is pretty much set in stone for if I stay here, my grandma wants me to go to UNI and has offered to pay for it, the only thing is, I cant think of anything I really want to do at UNI, I would probably study art and designâ¦I donât know.

And finally, if I decide to stay in Sydney, I will have to move out within 3 years probably anyway and housing is A LOT more expensive here, being in an expensive area and very close to Sydney City.

So, sorry that was so long. But what would you do if you were in that situation?

Thanks!

- Katy â¥

PS: Sorry if it makes no sense! I was kind of rushing that whole thing.
Like I said, we used to live there and we go every year and I never want to leave. Also, the only family I have now is my Grandma and sisters because my brother moved to Port Maquarie...There are a lot of family friends and my godparents down there.
Blatantbullshit or whatever your name is. Please keep your lame opinion to yourself. You didn't even answer my question...I could report you, but I won't.

Answer
WOW! I really think you thought about so much here! Good for you! I am also sorry to hear that your mom has passed. I think it would be good for you to get the house you used to live in, pending you have thought about the amount of money you would make and that you can really afford the bills you are going to have. You have jobs lined up but will you be able to do house hold repairs and pay your living expenses with the income you will generate? I do think that living with your grandmother will allow you to grow up at a slower pace instead of forcing yourself into so much responsibility right after such a tragic event in your life. I also feel that maybe you want to do this growing up because it will help you grieve and deal with the loss of your mother by being responsible for yourself and growing up in a way respectful of your mom.

How do you like the bare beginnings of my story?

Jennifer T

I am going to add more to the beginning don't worry- I think it is for older teens (15 and up) and young adults.

Holly Dallas tossed and turned in bed. Outside was the âpitter patterâ of the rain, the wind had an agonizing swoop to it. Without warning, lightning cracked the sky with a explosion and thunder rumbled through the valleys. Holly turned on her light it was no use-- She would never get to asleep. She stared outside her window just to see the New Mexico desert. Another flash of lightning pounded hear the window, which made Holly jump back, Hollyâs whole family spoke Spanish at home, so Holly followed. People might of described Holly as: humorous, quiet and creative. She twirled her black dreadlocks of hair and felt her baby smooth, tan skin. Holly was beginning to feel quite thirsty and climbed down the unstable ladder that lead up to her room and crept down stairs.
Mean while back in snowed-down Boston, Massachusetts, Aria Prince was having the exact opposite problem. It was mid-night there and Aria had such a problem trying to stop watching the beautiful, glorious snow that fell down from high. âHow could anyone not want to watch this?â Aria said dreamily. She put her hand out, a cold, soft snow trickled on it. âAhâ. Even though Aria loved the cold, she was getting a tad chilly and needed her fuzzy, lilac blanket which was in her baby sister- Laneyâs room, downstairs. Aria had delicate blond hair and the rosiest cheeks, with penetrating emerald green eyes. A beauty. Aria was dramatic, dreamy, and loved the spotlight! She opened the door from her bedroom carefully and headed to Laneyâs room, which she loved dearly.
Holly was just downstairs when a red vivid, black at white truck pulled into the driveway. âProbably just Charlotte coming back with her boyfriend and her daughter- Sydneyâ Holly said thinking nothing of it and rolling her eyes, when in the kitchen she turned on the tap- nothing, next Holly tried to switch on the lights- nothing. Then the phone rang three times. âThis is just like one of those scary moviesâ said Holly aloud. Hollyâs walk broke into a run as the silence in her house fell in. Again something made her stop by the door again. She cracked it up a bit. Coming out of the red and white truck came six, dangerous, tough looking guys armed with illegal weapons and explosives, she leaned in closer to hear what they were saying
âLook rob the house, blow it up, take all the money and get out- If any adults come- shootâ em, kids- kidnap them- those er things are dangerous, boysâ A gruff voice said. Holly gasped. He looked in her direction. Holly ran to the porch and hid in the dirty laundry basket, barely breathing a word.
Back in Boston, Aria had slowly pulled the blanket away from Laney and hushed her back to sleep. Laneyâs face was so peaceful. Aria looked outside the window, clutching her blanket. As Aria looked more closely she saw a motorcycle in the yard, she didnât recognize and outside smoking and drinking were three teenagers, none of whom she had seen before. She quietly opened the window making sure they didnât hear her. The youngest said
âLook, weâve been stalking these people for weeks now, the plan is- kill the adults, injure the elderly woman, choke the baby, kidnap the kids and any teenagerâs leave them.â
Aria felt a tear trickle down her cheek. They had been stalking her and her family. âNo! I canât let this is happen!â Aria cried, choking herself up. All of her memories were becoming as precious as a fairyâs eyelash. With no thought Aria grabbed Laney and a snow globe she had and ran as fast as she could to a closet, tears streaking down her face as she rocked Laney.

Question: I am not sure how they are related yet- maybe they both get kidnapped to the same place and live through the tortures while trying to escape???

I need: Editing,Constructive Criticism, Compliments, Suggestions Anything!

Answer
Here are a couple of points!
1. I thought when the both sets of men were talking it was kind of odd, I mean I would think they would already have the plan and the whole thing just seemed rushed and unnecessary, I would just have them start walking towards the house with guns, and we would get the picture and both girls would know to run away.
2. If you want them to relate, you could have it where since both girls are hiding the men don't see them and they end up surviving, and then since both sets of parents die you could have Ania and her sister end up living with their neighbor since they were so close, and then have Holly go live with her aunt all the way across the country in Boston who would be Ania's neighbor.
3. I really like it, the whole idea and the writing.
Hope this helps and happy writing:D
