My husband and I are soon to be moving to a new house, we are both very big into the Medieval decor, but I can not seem to find anything the way I am looking. Any suggestions that may help?

Is there a Website that offers Bedding and other Bedroom decor in a Classical Music Theme?

Tyler H

I desperatly need a new look for my bedroom and I am a Classical Musician. So I was wondering is there anything out there to help me?

Answer
Choose deep serene colors for the wall, such as smoky gray or burgundy then add music wall art in silver or gold tones, respectively, to add contrast.

Change things up for classical music aficionados with framed classical musical scores, busts of Mozart or Beethoven set on floor pedestals and cast resin grilles above doorways and windows that recreate the look of elegant plastered reliefs. Paint them in a hue that is similar to the wall color in order to make it look as though an artisan has created them on site.

All kinds of musical themed home decor here:

http://www.themusicstand.com/Music-Home-Decor-s/1.htm

As for bedding, there is more geared toward kids for this theme. If you prefer a more adult look, I'd suggest going with plain bedding that coordinates with the walls, and add music inspired pillows. If you add a lot of other musical decor to the room, the bedding might just be overkill. The site I've provided above will have nice classical looking music note inspired pillows that would look nice added to a solid color bedding set. You might also want to consider purchasing their musical throw and adding it to the bottom of the bed for a pop of design there as well.

Help! I need room ideas!?

Bob

So I just bought a quite large home and I'm not sure to do with all the rooms. I already have a living room, a kitchen, three bedrooms, a guest bedroom, an office, a library, three bathrooms, a dining room. A hall, a conservatory, a sun room, a music room, a ballroom, a drawing room, a computer room, an art room, and a game room. Also I have a basement, garage, and an attic of course. My only problem is I still have about 20 rooms left. My house feels empty and I'm not sure what else to do. Any and all suggestions are appreciated. Best answer goes to the person with the most reasonable rooms. ( by reasonable I mean purposeful)

Answer
1. Kitchen - Go simple. If you have a color in mind then paint it on the cabinets rather than walls.
2. Living room - My living room is collectique. This is where you want to piece together odds and ends and make it work. So keep the color palate in this room neutral and natural. Dark greens, browns, tans, whites, etc. Bookshelves on both ends of a fireplace would look nice.
3. Dining room - This room needs to be the most simplified. Since not much time is spent here, This is where you need to cut back on your budget. Apply the more expensive items elsewhere. A nice table, tablecloth, centerpiece and a few photos on the wall will suffice. Make sure the color or theme scheme is the same as the kitchen so there is a nice flow.
4.Hall - Don't clutter this area. Instead of putting several small photos up, try a HUGE mirror instead or oversized photos or artwork.
5. Conservatory/Sunroom - Maybe a bench and some tropical plants. But you could start gardening and use these rooms as a greenhouse, it will work just fine. Visit http://www.seedsandshovels.com for more info
6.Music room - Do you have instruments? If not you could invest in a piano for looks or learn how to play it.You could do a Victorian kind of theme here. Antique looking photos, antique piano, etc. If you are willing to take on a project then I would suggest you do so in this room!
7.Ballroom - Hmmmm....I would just leave this room alone for now. I don't know what purpose you might have in mind for this one. I will get back to it.
8.Drawing room - You definately might want to put your sewing or cricut machines in here on some simple desks or tables. Any projects you are taking on...use this room to create your mess. I wouldn't bother to really decorate it. This is an adult play room...lol
9.Computer room - Some simple desks, try glass tables or desks for an open feel. Sometimes computer rooms are small and you feel sufficated.
10.Art room - I wonder if this room is beside the drawing room? I would knock down the wall and make it one room. I would treat it the same as the drawing room.
11.Game room - Big screen TV, Xbox, anything game related. Keep it all together in huge entertainment center. Also I saw someone who did this....Take 2 couches and put one right behind the other. But the one in the back needs to be raised up on a platform. Build one or maybe find one online? That way people sitting on the second couch will be able to see the TV, just like being in a movie theatre!
12.Basement - This could be the ultimate man cave. Since you have the cars in the garage, I would covert this to a workshop if you could. Or if it is insulated then I would do a bar theme. Have a bar and stools, a TV and a mini fridge...or leave it alone for now.
13.Garage - I wouldn't bother putting up any decor. However, if you found any cute nik naks that don't fit in the house then I would decorate the garage with them.
14.Attic - Who goes in here?
15.Bedroom 1 - Black and white - this is the most simple theme. Decorate in only black and white. You would be amazed at all the cool things you can find. Again Hobby Lobby is your best friend! Add some red for a pop of color.
16.Bedroom 2 -Green, tan, brown - Keep it natural and relaxing. Only use colors found in nature. A small rock garden on a table would be cute.
17.Bedroom 3 - Sky blue, white and orange - I have a comforter with these colors. I have used pictures of birds on the walls and also there is alot of decor called "bird on a wire" google it and you will see. Or you can use some birdcage decor you will find at Kirkland's or Hobby Lobby.
18.Office - Just like the computer room you want to keep this area simple so you don't get crowded. If you must use more than 1 desk then put them back to back, so you are working with your co-worker (lol..) face to face only separated by a computer screen if you catch my drift. Bookshelves would be nice but keep to a minimium. Use a few large photos rather than several smaller ones. Less is more and remember not to choose big and bulky furniture. You know how it is when you go to a professional office and you wonder why everything is so large in such a small room. Do that opposite of that!
19.Library - A cozy couch and maybe a recliner. A few large decor pieces. Again you could do the Victorian theme, since this is an area that your guests probably won't be spending much time in. This is your relaxing area. I would put up wall to wall bookshelves and a nice, large rug with the furniture sitting ontop in the middle. An oversize floor vase would look great!
20.All bathrooms - I would use the bedroom themes so it can flow nicely. If it's a guest bathroom then I would do something simple and neutral rather to appeal to both genders.

Whew...that's how I would decorate it. Add me as a contact and keep in touch. I want to see updates!

Christmas presents for me?

Katherine

So I'm 16 and I'm a girl. I like Pokemon and dragonball z and WoW and baggy "hippie" clothes and I don't wear makeup to rock music. I have a few things down for Christmas but my dad says I need to add more. So fr I have Pokemon sapphire, iTunes money, the movie 16 candles, a book, and nail polish. What else could I get? I don't want to be greedy?

Teenage girl bedroom idea? HELP ASAP!?

Trinity

ohkay. So my family is moving into a new house like tommarrow.. and I need some bedroom ideas! I'm 15 year old typical girl. Love lots of colors, but I think I'm gonna keep the walls a cream color?

I had some ideas in mind. tell me what you think. Or any other ideas would be fantastic :)

- first idea:
cream walls, black borders. white Christmas losghts around the top of the walls, and a dream catcher painted above my bed.
I have a king sized bed, ( for now just a plain black comforter. but once I figure out what I want, I'll get a new one.) a white vanity table, and 2 white shelfs I was planning on putting in there. (I have a huge walk in closet and my dresser goes in there) soo? How does this all sound?

Or my second idea!

Maybe like a fairytale room. like a chandelier (I dont know how to spell that!! Obviously. haha) and maybe a silver bed frame. some silver glittery curtains. maybe my walls like a light light pink or white?
or maybe just cream. then have a big canopy. ??
Ideas?

Any other ideas are welcome.

I also have my own bathroom to decorate too! We already had the bathtub/ shower done. it is a light granite tile, then at the top it has almost like a diamond looking tile pattern. then the tub is just plain white. there is a white toilet, white counters, and a silver sink.

The walls are a really hideous green. so I deffinetly need to paint. so what color would be nice? I need to pick out curtains and shower curtains and sinks too. so any ideas?

Thanks I'm advance. (:
Trinity
My room in my old house had hot pink walls, black trim and border, and the ceiling was zebra print. (it was friggen awsome if I do say so myself (: ) and yes. I'm very sad to leave it, but I don't think I should do the same thing in my new room. it's a new house. a new start. a fresh beginning.

and I suck at decorating so please help me out?(:

Answer
Hey,
here are some ideas :

-Make a collage in your room. Like put your favourite pictures together and format it into a nice place. (it adds colour and personality!)
-Add a lamp to make your room look cozy and calm
-Add a white or black, or pink rug to make it look cozy , calm and warm
-Put posters on your wall. Like your favourite singers, actresses/actors.
-Decorate your walls with pictures of yourself with your friends, etc.
-You can have a dresser with a mirror and you can put all your perrfume, lotion, nail polish, etc placed neatly on top to add some colour in your room! :D
-Spray a bit of febreeze or air freshener to make your room smell nicer and cooler! I do that all the time lol. It's calms everything down :)
- On your wall, just add anything that describes you
-Hang some artwork!
-Have a vase and fill it with flowers! :)
-if you gave a stuff animal, place it sitting somewhere, can be in a corner.
-if you want to add more colour, then open your closet door so all your clothes stand out!

good luck and i hope i helped! :)

Ideas for decorating a toddler boy bedroom?

POPPY

I just finished painting the walls in my soon to be 3 year old son's bedroom. The paint is called "Guacamole" . Its a very warm rich green. My trim is dark wood, which I hate (I like white trim but I'm renting). I'm having a tough time decorating because his dresser is white and the toddler bed is a pine color. I'm not willing to paint the dresser and I really prefer to use what we have already. I love the look of pottery barn, but can't really afford to spend the money. Can you help me come up with some affordable ideas to make it look like a cool, & fun big boy bedroom. I'm not into themes because his likes change so often. But one thing that always stays the same is cars, trucks and trains. I could decorate by displaying cars and picture frames with cars&airplanes themes. I"m not sure. Possibilities are endless. I also need an idea for curtain color. I'd like to add a play table and an easel. I'm also making an underbed train table as a surprise. Thank you for reading my post.

Answer
Just a thought. Try downloading a printing pictures of high end cars and exotic planes or trains. Then frame them and put them up in his room. For extra touches add a small collection of Maisto cars in cases for display. By the way many car dealers will give you free booklets and on occassion you can get promo items(i.e. we got a Porsche flag for our sons room). Maybe a few light weight model planes hanging from the ceiling. And if your able put a 6" shelve about 18" from the ceing around the entire room and set up a electric train on it. Put a switch some where on the wall out of his reach for now(he'll enjoy turning it on when he five or so, but not now he may break it to easily). Also for the curtians try a dark green or Dark purple(aka Royal Purple). By the way a extra nice touch is a rug for a kids room has a play scape on it (usually a road and such). I know it sounds like a lot, but it works out nicely. It's what we are doing for our sons room.

Cool ideas for a teen girls bedroom?

AnnMarie

i am redoing my room soon and i need some ideas!! i have picked the color i want to do. i am doing teal/pool colors, and white. :) i need cute ideas for things to set around the room, decor ideas, anything!! thank u!!

Answer
Do realize that in bedroom décor worlds, like spread and accessories, this year's teal, aqua, etc.. ma not match or coordinate with next year's shades or hues. This is all the more important if you are purchasing things on sale, typically slightly older merchandise, and hope to finish up later.

When pre-teen and teen types ask for bedroom décor ideas, I like to suggest that they look around but then save some of their budget for DYI equipment, tools, and supplies. For example, once you've seen some of the magazine holders available for sale it doesn't take too long to see that the shape can be easily cut out of a cereal box with an exacto or utility knife using a metal edged ruler for a straight edge. From there, the box can be covered in anything ranging from brown mailing or printed gift wrap paper, paint, or cloth. In fact, when you look at the décor magazine holders in the $20 or higher range, you will find that many are basically a covered, cardboard box. The cost of the equipment, tools, and supplies for the first constructed holder can often be no more expensive than the cost of one purchased holder from the décor storage department; the cost of additional constructed holders then goes down depending upon the supplies chosen. And, thrift stores like Goodwill are great places for finding low-cost supplies and materials; look through the linens and curtain departments but, even the cloth cut from an old formal often works well for smaller projects.

This said, lace appears to be quite popular in the clothing world and, gaining in the décor world. Spray adhesive, a glue gun, some scissors, and old lace or netting can be used in all sorts of ways. Consider covering your lamp shade, trash can, or book ends with some lace or netting cut from purchased yardage, remnants, or out of something de-constructed from the thrift store. Make gathered ruffles of the same and attach using a glue gun or thread and needle. You can also use the same to make painted designs on items; tack the lace on the item then paint to leave the lace pattern in the underlying color.

If you truly want to save some money, learn how to paint furniture, accessories, and things like picture frames. This will require some tools, equipment, and skill building. A sewing machine is also another investment that can return untold dollars when talking about room décor projects.

Learning some of these types of DYI skills, how to think out of the box, how to duplicate and/or improve on what you've seen on the store shelf or showroom floor, and getting a basic collection of equipment, tools, and supplies can give you a whole life time's worth of savings too.

Im looking for a small chic chair and a very small glass end table
my color palet is black pink and zebra

Answer
Thats my daughters exact decor. I went to Target and they have the cutest mirrored end table for 50 bucks and I got a chic gold painted rod iron chair at a store called DD's deals in California, but it is a lot like Ross and Marshalls if you dont live where I live. Cause I have never heard of DD's till I moved to my area. But if you have a Ross or Marshalls type store in your area, they seem to have a lot of stuff for room decor to choose from. I even got my daughter zebra print satin sheets at a Ross the other day. Hope this helps. I wish I cold post pics.

Ideas on styling my room ?

Q. I'm a teen and I want to re-do my room . I like colors combo but i don't know what color combo ( black/white/lime green, pink/purple/white etc.) I wanted things in it like beads and i wanted a comforter that doesn't look like a kid's comforter . I also wanted to resemble my interests.
I like Dancing
Fashion
Desiging
Shopping

I'll accept all answers
Websites if possible plz !

Answer
You could paint one wall, preferably the wall behind your bed a medium shade of purple, and hang up vinyl records on the wall. If your room is pretty small, try not to paint your walls dark colors, it makes your room seem smaller!

Or you can use some of these decals on your wall:
http://www.decaljunky.com/cart/c-66-dance.aspx
They're all dancing ones

Now, to get more of a "fashion" feel to your room, you can try adding mannequins! You can find a lot on ebay! Try Putting clothes on a rack and not in a closet, it adds more of a fashion vibe. A couch. Although it's kind of expensive if it will last a long time and its worth it.

Mirrors make a nice addition since it reflects light, and makes the room look bigger.
Cloose favorite colors and shapes. Colors should reflect your moods and personality. Different colors of shaped objects in the decor like clocks, picture frames, chairs, floral arrangements, help accent every room to the max.

I like rummage sales to pick out different objects that look interesting and make a conversation piece.

Old books stacked are sophisicated, old dishes used for candle holders or jewelry holders are very stylish.

I look for objects that I might be able to hang my jewelry on for part of my decor, hold a hat, hold a throw blanket for those chilly fall days, baskets for holding makeup, brushes, etc.

clear shoe holders hang on the back of your door for all of those quick to get items used every day. school items, hair items, makeup, under garmets, cleaners for facials, hair, or just bathing, perfumes, ....anything you can imagine!

Use flat plastic containers to put under the bed for extra blankets, or extra decorations to trade out sometimes to make the room look a bit different without spending over budget. However you decide, it has to be YOU! Have fun sweetie!

Now for the wall colors:

Purple and green are the opposite colors so its perfect combo. Add a hint of pink, blue or both to add that variety. Use the white and or silver as your accent colors. I would suggest to paint an accent wall. Have your two walls dedicated as your black & white movie style pictures. Use basic black frames for them. You can usually buy the frames for cheap if you stick with the plastic black ones. This will also draw the attention to the pic not the frame. You might want to use one horizontal stripe on two sides of the room to make it longer. Vertical to make it taller. Use a solid purple color comforter with plaid, square or flowery styled pillows

Best place for comforters for the color scheme you want are Walmart & Target. Black & white pics is target. For lamps and maybe some shelving, Bed Bath & Beyond.

Of course trying to figure out your room with out looking at it, Im only guessing here but if your walls are small by your entry door, add two long mirrors. If the window is opposite from your door, natural light will bounce from them and make the room appear larger. Also the mirrors can be written on with dry erase board markers could be used for msg's, reminders or important dates.
For your windows, drapes can be soft and sheer. One idea you can do is find sheer material to drape across and over the window. Another way is to find an inexpensive shower curtain, preferably sheer. maybe a white one, cut 4" of ribbon (fun and colorful maybe even feathery) tie around the holes of the shower curtain (leaving enough room for it to slide back and forth on the curtain rod.) glue on flowers or sequences. You will have your very own unique curtain.

Hope I helped,
Laura

How do I hang this accordian storage holder in kids room?

Mommy of 2

I just re-decorated our 2 1/2 year olds room. We bought a lot of really cool decor for her room and one of the items is this disney accordian storage holder. I'm not sure exactly how to describe it, but it just has 3 fabric storage bins and I was going to put stuffed animals in them, but it's supposed to drop down from the wall and look like an accordian. It can't be against the wall though. It has a velcro (sp?) loop at the top, but I have no idea what to use to hang this...any ideas? Thanks
My husband said the same thing (it probably goes in the closet) but it's really cute and I wanted to put it in her room, but I'll put it in the closet if that's the best option! =)
