I'm a teenage girl and I have a corner in my room between two windows which looks really bare, I have my tv in the corner on a cabinet but I was just looking if anyone new what decorative ideas I could do with the wall. I thought of a photo collage but I thought it might look a little weird since its a corner. But I'm open to any suggestions

Answer
Well it depends on how far away the windows are from the corner of the wall and the colour of your room but I am a teenage girl too and I think maybe one of the following could look cute:
- Wall stickers (they have a sticky backing and look like wall art but can be peeled off if you want to change it)
- small canvases (I live in Australia and there is a really cool store called Typo which has cute canvases so you could have three that continue a picture e.g. first canvas is the branch of a tree, 2nd canvas if the trunk ad 3rd is the other side of the tree)
- Wallpaper on one wall only
- On the cabinet you could put those 3D letters in different fonts that spell something important to you e.g. 'love' or your name or someting

Hope this helps! Answer mine? http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20130830182826AAxYaIf

Are there any fun places for toddlers in Springfield, Illinois?

daniko

I am driving from St. Louis, MO to Watseka, IL. I am going to stop halfway there in Springfield, IL for lunch and to let my daughter get out of the car and have some fun. Any suggestions on where to take her? She is 13 months old, walking, and very active. I would like a place where she can see other kids her age and get some exercise. Something like a children's museum or even just a nice playground near a good restaurant. Please help!

I would check out this site for more, we use it to plan our trips from STL to Springfield. There is no science center or "Magic" House type place. The little princess place is a lot of fun, we have taken girls of all ages there! When in doubt find a playground and let her run! Have a great trip!

Well these are the items want to get rid off

Some old tee shirts (rolling stones, kind of formal shirt- button up semi see through, white with pink flower pattern and some lace -, and a bunch of other grahpic tees, and a pink striped one and quite a few others

My skatebored (I can't balance on it and I'm to afraid to get back on because I hurt my ankle last time and its not really fun for my friend and I to just pull eachother)

I have some old toys but I need to sort throuh them

I have a barbie car that doesn't talk anymore, I have a plastic barbie plane with alot of missing peices, and a giant barbie doll house- more like a hotel and lots of barbie peices to go with it and a barebie living room/bedroom/bathroom set and I do have about 10 barbies including some vintage barbie clothes from my aunt, a vintage barbie, and a green holiday one still in its box but I don't want to get rid of my barbies jsut the barebie stuff (I'm 14 and no longer a prissy little kid) continued.
Bit I heart my barbies too much to get rid of them, I want to save them for future kids

And msot of my clothes have sains on them or are ripped a little but nothing that can't be sewen or washed out. I've had most of the clothes for 2+ years and the barbie stuff for 5-7 years plus
so is this stuff ok for ebay or just garage sales?
And theres about 3 or 4 pants included too

Answer
Ebay is like a huge yard sale. If you don't want the items anymore, sale them. Someone, somewhere is bound to buy it.

How would I go about designing an Audrey Hepburn bedroom?

Lulu

My room is teeny tiny and my mum is allowing me to do whatever I want to it, I want an Audrey Hepburn style room, my family has bought me a few pictures. What colour scheme/furniture would look best to work with the theme? I am 16 next month if thats important...
She was an old hollywood actress

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Audrey_Hepburn

Tada!

Answer
Audrey Hepburn was a very stylish lady of the times. She was most famous in films in the 1950's. So I would choose things from that era.

She worn pearls, tight waist belts to show off her tiny waistline, she carried a fashionable purse always and a hat.
She was always very put together.

One of the ideas in decorating in that time frame was to do a black and white decor with splashes of pinks, blacks or grays. Sometimes reds. They had silver fabrics too with lots of shimmer and elegance.
Choose things with lots of sparkle she was a Hollywood star!
Poka-dots were really in fashion.

Furniture was a modern now retro style, very streamline in style or to the other extreme of curves more Victorian in style and often in white or deep wood tones. Tufted headboards on the beds with tacks.
Art nouveau mirrors , elegant chairs, Chrystal glass sparkly lamps.
You can likely find much of the furniture are used stores or Salvation Army stores. A little paint or furniture polish they will look new again.

Here are some links to some decals of dots to carry through the idea of poka-dots onto your walls. The poka-dots were usually black on pink or black or red on white. You could paint your room pink and put some dots all over a wall and a few scattered in limited areas on other walls to tie it in.

http://www.dezignwithaz.com/removable-wall-stickers-otherz/bubble-cloud-wall-decals-p-588.html

There is bedding on the market with dots on it to follow through with the dot design plan. Some examples on links below.

http://www.overstock.com/Home-Garden/Kids-Durham-Polka-Dot-Quilt-Set/3465575/product.html?sec_iid=33969

Or you could paint a large silhouette of Audrey Hepburn on one wall.
Take a look at this link to see what I mean.

http://www.dezignwithaz.com/graphic-wall-decals-characters/dreamz-home-wall-stickers-p-600.html

When you follow the links above scroll and click on the other things on the site when you get to them. Many have lots of ideas for you.

Best wishes have fun and make the room about your love for Audrey Hepburn and your personality too.

What should I make with my glitter glue?

Kristiana

I have a lot of glitter glue, like, 5 whole bottles of it in different colors. I want to make something really cool, something that isn't a waste of time, artistic skill, and glitter glue. I have other supplies to use too, like: paper, hot glue (I have glittery hot glue, too), glitter glue, pencils, pens, markers, crayons, shalk, note cards, yarn, lots of beads, and some stickers. If you find anything time consuming and utterly cool, please tell me about it so I can put my craft tools to use!

Thanks!

Answer
There are so many things you can do with glitter glue!
Here are some great ideas from ehow.com:
http://www.ehow.com/info_8255799_glitter-glue-crafts.html

Glitter Glue Containers
Create a beautiful, glittery container to hold pens, pencils or other items. Use a clean clear glass jar. Draw a design on the jar with glitter glue. The design can represent something or can be abstract. Use various colors for a colorful effect or choose a couple of colors. You can draw simple flower designs on a jar or clear vase to create a flower vase for someone special.

Glitter Glue Ornament
Plain glass ornaments can be made beautiful when embellished with glitter glue. Create interesting designs on a glass ornament by using the tip of a glitter glue pen to leave a trail of glitter glue. The ornaments can be used as Christmas tree ornaments or, when done in pastel colors, can be used as Easter or springtime decor. Hang the ornament from an ornament stand for use all year long.

Glitter Glue Window Decorations
Lay wax paper down on the table and use glitter glue to create a design or write a message. After the glue dries, carefully peel the glue from the wax paper and use tape to hang the design or message to a window. This method can be used to make sparkly winter snowflakes or "Happy Birthday" greetings. Use multiple colors of glitter glue by allowing one color to dry before adding another colored glitter glue to the design.

Paper Crafts
Create paper crafts with glitter glue. Greeting cards are a nice craft for kids to make and give to loved ones. Create greeting cards with construction paper and other craft items. Use glitter glue to create the wording on greeting cards and other decorative elements. Use glitter glue to draw simple flower patterns on greeting card envelopes too. You can also use glitter glue to embellish other paper crafts like bookmarks.

Also, you can watch this video about glitter and glitter glue techniques and tips, as well as craft ideas:
http://store.scrapbook.com/ms-40-00001.html

Just be creative! You can add glitter glue to anything! Like cards, trinkets, painting it onto door decorations or room decorations...

Have fun!!

How to decorate my bedroom?

kids bedroom decor stickers
on ... Stickers and Abstract Tree Decoration in Kids Bedroom Paint Decorating
kids bedroom decor stickers image

Sheel

I'm a college kid commuting to school aka still living at home with my parents.

I've recently decided to completely redecorate my room.

Basically after you walk in, the ceiling slants in like a triangle.

The only window in the room is on the opposite side of the door.

The bed is perpendicular to the window.

So far, all I have is strung lights framing the window.

I know I want to do a map of the world on one side of the ceiling with the quote "not all those who wander are lost".

What else should I do to decorate?

Answer
I love the world map and quote idea!

I was going to suggest hanging string lights and drape a sheer sequin curtain in your accent color over the lights on the sloped ceiling cascading down behind your bed http://www.walmart.com/ip/Beacon-Looms-Groovy-Sequin-Interlined-Curtain-Panel/16662997

http://24.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_mabbkuTeP11r72hyuo1_500.jpg
But since you already framed the window you could hang the sheer sequin curtain on the window.

Swirling flowers decal would look great on the slope above your headboard.

You can get one^ in your fave color, maybe add a couple butterflies ?

Wish I could see a pic of your room/colors : )

Fabric panel/bulletin board on the back of your desk ? and lean against the sloped ceiling.
http://www.etsy.com/shop/TamiahDesigns/search?search_query=fabric+covered+wall+art+15x8&order=date_desc&view_type=gallery&ref=shop_search
Easy and inexpensive to make one by wrapping fabric to the back of of a cork panel and staple in place.

You can buy 1/2 yard (18x45") of super cute fabric for $3 at walmart in tons of different patterns/designs in the colors in your room.

Designer frames
Cut two 1 1/2" wide strips of the fabric and wrap two picture frames.

Cut remaining fabric 13x30" and lay across your dresser as a cute runner to tie everything together.
or
Make a cute accent pillow for your bed. Easy to sew with a needle and thread if you can't use a sewing machine.
Cut fabric 13x30"
Fold the fabric in half, in-side-out so the color/print is inside.
Sew 1/2" in, along the edge on the two long sides, leaving the short end open.
Turn pillow cover right-side-out so the color/print is on the outside.
Fill with batting or even with a sweater/shirt you don't wear anymore.
Then sew up the opening.

For a girly touch drape a lighted feather lei over your door mirror. ?
http://www.flickr.com/photos/54604713@N06/8829678514/ get a feather boa $3 accent/fave color

what are some unique ideas to add a little personality to your bedroom?

.

btw,
im 14

Answer
A big fake tree strung with mini lights adds coziness and romance to any room.
But here is a favorite of mine for your walls. Go to an art supply store and buy a canvas or two in the size you need. Like these:
http://www.dickblick.com/categories/canvas/
Then cover them with a fabric that coordinates with your bedding. You can find cheap remnants at a fabric store. Or use decorative paper.
After you cover them, decorate them any way you want....photos, decals, stickers, tassels, feathers, sequins, etc.
http://www.ejoyce.com/
When you're finished, they'll look something like these only with your own personal flair (and alot cheaper!)
http://www.pbteen.com/products/p3542/index.cfm?pkey=cwall%2Daccessories%2Ddecoration
You could also just paint them a solid color and paint a simple design on them or glue a favorite picture to them.
http://www.pbteen.com/products/p3741/index.cfm?pkey=cwall%2Daccessories%2Ddecoration
http://www.pbteen.com/products/p3468/index.cfm?pkey=cwall%2Daccessories%2Ddecoration

A cool wall hanging can add lots of personality to a room. See if you like any of these:
http://www.turtleislandimports.com/index.cgi/nv=86/r=aw/Bedspreads.htm?gclid=CIv2_KKvrJkCFSPxDAodsBdTJg

Go to a thrift store and buy a simple wooden chair. Then paint it a bright color, hang a cool throw over it or an accent pillow and put it in a corner of your room with some magazines or a pile of books nearby.
http://cgi.ebay.com/New-Kids-Wooden-KidKraft-Avalon-Decor-Red-Wood-Chair_W0QQitemZ150314711956QQcmdZViewItem
If you're artisitic at all, you can use stencils to decorate it with.
http://www.walltowallstencils.com/stencils/miscborders.php
Or just make your own stencil from a piece of cardboard and add polka dots or squares to it.

Decals are a great way to easily add some pizazz to your walls.

ok so in the next month before summer my parents are gonna redo my room, paint it, and a theme. i don't know what color or theme to do.. please help. plus ideas of where to get them from as well.

Answer
Before anyone can help with specifics, you need to have a theme or color scheme in mind. Since you do not, that should be your first priority. Some links to help with picking a theme for your room:

http://teensthemes.com/
http://www.raftertales.com/decorate/decor-themes/25-cool-teen-bedroom-themes/
http://www.digsdigs.com/60-cool-teen-bedroom-design-ideas/
http://www.hgtv.com/topics/teen-bedrooms/index.html

If you do not see anything that you like on one of these, then you can do a basic web search for "teen bedroom themes" and go from there.

What I would suggest that you do is to take a moment or two and make a list of your likes and dislikes style-wise, your two favorite colors, and the things that are important to you (family, friends, music, etc.). You'll also want to note whether you are a girly-girl, a tom-boy or somewhere in-between the two. These things can help you identify your style. Then it becomes a simple matter of finding a theme that incorporates a good portion of the things on your list. You may want to get started on this and get it finalized soon, so that the parents know what to get paint and bedding wise.

Some other sites that can help are:

For paint & color applications: www.sherwin-williams.com
Hip/trendy bedding & wall art: www.target.com (Seriously, look before you laugh - You will be surprised!)
Area rugs, lamps/lighting & decor items: www.ikea.com/us
Wall murals: www.greatbigcanvas.com

Finally, some advice that is more my personal opinion than fact:
Avoid hot pink or lime green and zebra print - It's overdone and you want to be unique, right?

A style/theme that is subdued and elegant is something that can evolve as you mature. Just because it's fashionable now doesn't mean it will be a year from now. Your aim should be something that grows with you. An easy one to pull off is black & white plus your favorite color for accent pieces or monochromatic (black, gray, white with one accent color): There are so many interesting black & white patterned bedding sets and many black & white photo posters available on-line and in stores that it is really easy to customize.

Be subtle/sedate with the color you choose for your walls. It is far easier to accent with neon-bright colors in accessories, decor items, bedding items etc (and easier on the eyes) than it would be to live and sleep in a screaming pink or hyper lime colored room.

Good luck, have fun and I hope that you end up with a great room!

Answer
James was a great help:) Ok so here we go. For small rooms it's great to use a light colors because it seems to open up a room. So keep the colors light. Too keep a room from getting too dark if you still want to use a darker color then have an accent wall with your bed against it. This will make it the focal point. Then you can paint the rest of it white so you have the best of both worlds; a light an airy room, and that dark color you wanted. Or you can have a white room with the accent color teal and something else if you want.
I love the look of teal and coral together. I think color teal is the most beautiful color ever.. As of yesterday.. For right now.
What's the point of having windows if they're gonna be closed all the time? Keep your windows open (the curtains at least) and let the light in. Having natural light in gives the room that great light and airy feeling.
Another great reason to have natural lighting. This doesn't really have to do with anything, it's just a great tip. If you have good natural lighting then put your alarm clock near that lighting. The light is like your body's alarm clock so when your alarm clock goes off you will feel a lesser need to roll over and go back to sleep.
No matter how big your room is you usually don't see people trying to make their room smaller. Another great way to keep your room open is to use multipurpose furniture. Things that have storage in them. Like an ottoman doubles as a foot rest and a storage place to keep books and other things. Make sure your night stands have storage space in them instead of using a stool.
Designs: Since your room would most likely look tacky if you used all your favorite patterns on the walls, so try to incorporate them in your decor. You can have chevron, polka dots, and striped pillows and picture frames and things like that and it will still look fine.
I'll give you all of the links that I found. Most of them have coral in them and some have teal in it and they look great together. If you end up loving it like I did then these will be helpful for redoing:

List of things for moving into an apartment for grad school?

bedroom decor necessities
on Necessities Fitted Sheet Pumice Queen - Sheets & Valances - Bedroom ...
bedroom decor necessities image

Sunshine

Hi everyone,
I'm moving into an apartment for grad school which I'll be sharing with another person. The apartment has the basic necessities (microwave, fridge, etc)....I'm making an extensive list of things I need to buy (like pots, pans, towels, etc), but can you please brainstorm necessities?
I'm pretty much moving in with a suitcase of clothes, everything else will be bought once I'm in the city. What are things I should be buying immediately?
Thanks!
Oh and the apartment is furnished so no need to buy the furniture :)

Answer
It was a smart idea to get a furnished apartment, because buying a lot of furniture can be a pain! See if you can split some of the things on these list with your roommate, and remember to organize what each of you are bringing. Here is a list of things you should get for your apartment:

The items marked with * aren't necessities and are optional.

For the kitchen:
- One set of cups and glasses
- Set of dishes and bowls
- A toaster or toaster oven*
- Blender *
- Coffee maker *
- Set of silverware
- Utensils (for a full list look here: http://ph.answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20100922043136AAqnSv1 )
- A computer/ laptop *
- Silverware tray (for inside the drawer)
- Baking pans/sheets
- Complete set of pots and pans
- Plastic mixing bowls
- Oven mitts and hot pads
- Freezer bags and baggies
- Spice rack *
- Spices (can be purchased once you're there)
- Paper towel holder
- Hand and dish towels
- Cutting board and knives
- Dish rack *
- Bottle opener

For the bathroom:
- Shower mat
- Shower curtain (it may already have one)
- Set of towels (I reccomend getting a small basket to keep them in, sort of like this: http://www.raftertales.com/wp-content/uploads/bathroom-storage-towel-basket2.jpg )
- Tooth brush holder *
- Hamper
- Plunger

For the bedroom:
- Extra set of blankets for cold nights *
- Extra sheets
- Pillows
- Mirror *
- Alarm Clock *
- Hangers for the closet
- Rug *

General:
- Plants *
- Wall decor *
- Clock *
- Phone *
- Extension cord for multiple things to plug in
- Ironing board with iron
- Stereo with music *

That's about all I can think of. For more ideas, check out these links:
http://www.survivingcollegelife.com/2008/07/28/your-first-apartment-things-you-should-remember-but-probably-wont/

Also, I recomend using www.Amazon.com to buy some of the things you need, they have a lot of good deals on quality products.

Good luck, and I hope I helped!

I'm 18 and looking for an apartment, what are the main necessities that I will need?

la la

Answer
Well it depends. Some apartments come with stove, fridge, washing machine and dryer, so those, if you don't have an apartment that includes those things. Then -
Bedroom: Closet hangers, bed with bedding, television (maybe), dresser, nightstand, lamp.
Hall: bookcases and really any decor you want.
Living Room: Couch, chair(s), entertainment center w/ tv, video games, whatever, desk and chair, anything else you want
Kitchen: table, chairs, microwave, Stove and fridge (if not already there) dishes, cups, silverware, food and drinks
Bathroom: Toiletries, towels, rug, shower curtain, etc.
And there will probably be a little linen closet in the hall. idk about you but I have extra room in it and that's where we keep the cleaning supplies.

what is your favorite hotel in walt disney world?

dinosaur themed kids room
on Kids Room Decor and Kids Bedroom Decorations
dinosaur themed kids room image

Sarah J

i will be visiting there, what in your opinion is the best hotel in disney, please give details, which one has a good pool? nice rooms? what are good restaurants? the best rides, any tips would be great! thanks!

Answer
Favorite Hotel are probably a tie between Wilderness Lodge, Polynesian, and Animal Kingdom Lodge. Both Lodges are great escapes from the hustles and bustle and both have extrodinary dining experiences. Wilderness with the campy fun of Whispering Canyon (anything but quiet) and the more upscale Artist Point with an amazing wine list and the best salmon you will ever eat. The pool at Wilderness lodge starts in the lobby as a creek and runs though the courtyard until it is a massive pool (with slide). Thier are also boats to Magic Kingdom as well as the buses to all the parks. Animal Kingdom lodge also has terrific dining. Boma is a fantastic buffet (and I hate buffets)...both Breakfast and Dinner are something special with the flavors of Africa, make sure you ask for the special dessert (it's a secret) of deep fried oreos. Jiko is by far one of the best restuarants on Disney property. They have a filet with a cabernet macroni in cheese that is amazing and all the wine are from the Africa. The pool is great, it has a slide and two hot tubs with a great pool bar. The best part of this hotel is obviously the savannah and the the ability to see zebras and giraffes from your room is unlike anything. The Polynesian is a classic. One of the original hotels built at Disney. it has the monorail access that is so nice, as well as boats to Magic Kingdom. It has a very new refurbished pool equipped with a volcano. Also new is the quick service restuarant serving really decent choices. O'hana though is the favorite. During breakfast you can find Lilo and Stitch and while enjoying family style options including Mickey Waffles. At night it is various meats are grilled on an open flame and brought to you by skewers at the table. Before your server will bring you an all you can eat shrimp, egg rolls, and salad. Make sure you wear loose pants for this place :) What else makes the polynesian special is the hotel directly stares at the castle, it is perfect night to sit on a hammock by the water and watch the fireworks. If the premium resorts are out of your price range my favorite moderate is Port Orleans, Riverside (it oozing of southern charm) and has a great boat ride to downtown Disney, as well as fishing holes and bike paths. For the value resorts stay at Pop Century, it is the newest. At night the cast perform the Hustle in the lobby and the food court even has a tie dyed cheesecake. The pools are themed, the 50's is shaped like a bowling pin.

The best rides...by far the most popular is Everest and it worth the wait. The story and ride are so detailed and the Yeti is very life like. If you are at animal kingdom the other must sees are the Safari, Festival of the Lion King, Dinosaur, The new Finding Nemo show, and some of the walking trails for the animals (either in Asia or Africa). While at Disney-MGM Studios check out Tower of Terror, Rock n Roller Coaster, Fantasmic! (nightly show), and a very over looked but great option is One Man's Dream (a tribute to Walt). While at Epcot there are some great thrills with Mission Space (they even have a softer version than the original) ,Test Track, and Soarin (use your fast pass here first as this is the most popular). The best of the rest here: Spaceship Earth (the icon of the park), Norway, Crush the Turtle, and Journey into Imagination. The Pavillion at World Showcase are great for browsing and for kids they have Kidcot, where Kids get to put together masks at each pavillion and get a stamp. For adults, a drink around the world game is always fun, beware of the sake though....Finally Magic Kingdom- there are so many good things here, Pirates (now with Captain Jack Sparrow), Splash Mountain, Big Thunder Mountain, It's a Small World, Peter Pan's Flight (try to use a fast pass here(the wait is always outrageous), Buzz Lightyear's Space Ranger Spin, Space Mountain, Haunted Mansion, and the new Laugh Factory. Wishes is by far one of the best nightime fireworks display. The best viewing is to focus on the castle.

Now it's time to eat. First off if you plan to eat in a Full Service Restaurant call ahead to 407-WDW-DINE. Here are my favorites at each park. Magic Kingdom, the breakfast at Crystal Palace is worth it: a huge buffet with Breakfast Lasagna, Hashbrown Cassarole, and made to order omelets and Mickey pancakes. All this while having Winnie the Pooh and friends come to your table. For quick service. I'd say Casey's Corner on Main Street have terrific hot dogs and shoestring fries. Also Peco's Bills has great burgers for a quick bite with a large fixin bar for toppings. Epcot the choices are endless: I would say the best countries are Le Cellier (Canda)-a steakhouse, Japan they cook the food on a big grill in front of you (terrific scallops and chicken), Alfredo's (Italy) has homemade pasta and is legendary for the Fettuccini Alfredo. Chef's De France (France) has a steal for lunch. $15 you get onion soup, a croque mosiuer (sandwich) with field green salad, and creme brule for dessert. Any of the countries have great quick service locations. At the studios: I'd recommend Brown Derby (upscale) the cobb salad and grapefruit cake are worth it. Also the Primetime is so much fun, make sure you wash your hand before dinner and expect if you don't behave to maybe sing "I'm a little teapot" (I did). If you go to prime time the Fried Chicken is very popular and try the PBJ shake. Sunset Market ranch has a wide variety of quick service options. At Animal Kingdom there aren't many choices for full service other than Rainforest Cafe. There is a Donald character breakfast in Dinoland USA. For quick service try Tusker House in Africa (great rotissare chicken) or Flame Tree Barbaque. In the resorts, besides the ones I mentioned try California Grill (Contemporary), Flying Fish (Boardwalk), and for a really special night, Victoria and Alberts (jacket requirred) at the Grand Floridian. The Hoop De Doo Revue (Fort Wilderness) is the longest dinner show and is very fun. All you can eat and drink ribs and chicken. Also afternoon tea, is a nice treat at the Garden room at the Grand Fla, and finally downtown Disney has some more delish offerings at House of Blues and Wolfgang Pucks.

I hope this helps here is also some sites to check out

http://disneyworld.disney.go.com/wdw/
Disney also has a free vacation planning cd you can order.

and this site gives you menu options and some tips to the park:

What are some good game ideas for a kids party??

Kaylin

What would be good snacks? Good crafts to do?? Thanks!
Well, they are 5-6, and it is for a church party in our Daisies class. There really isn't a theme...

Answer
Pinata

This is a game that requires room and good supervision - the children are blindfolded (or not, if they are young and don't want to be) and they take a stick and try to break a hanging container that has candies and other small goodies in it. (Colorful Band-Aids were popular among the preschoolers here!). To make one, you can do something as simple as decorating a paper grocery bag with paints or crepe paper and then gluing and taping the top shut once the treats are inside. Run a string along the top edge before shutting the bag. You can also make a fancier one using a balloon and paper mache. The fun thing is that these can be decorated to match any theme. Alternatively, you can purchase a pinata that compliments your chosen theme.

Pin the _Something_ on _Something_

Traditionally Pin the Tail on the Donkey, this game can be changed to fit any theme. In this game, blindfolded guests try to stick a paper 'tail' onto a poster of a donkey. You can take a piece of poster board and draw anything with something missing - a nose on a clown or animal, the TY heart on a beanie baby, a spaceship in an outer space scene, and one year we gave Yoda (Star Wars) his staff. Just be sure to include an outline of where the object needs to land. Or, if youÃâre short on time, you can purchase a Pin the Tail on the Donkey or Pin the Nose on the Clown game from our sister site, Birthdayinabox.com.

Drop the Clothespin Into a Bottle

This is another one that can be turned into a themed activity simply by using a coffee can with a plastic lid on it as the container to catch the clothespins. Cut a hole into the plastic lid appropriate for the age child. Then decorate the can.

Bean Bag Toss

You can make an easy Bean Bag Toss using a double layer of poster board glued together and a large box. Use the large box as a base, and attach the poster board to one side of it. Before attaching the poster board, paint a design on it, allowing for one or more holes. We never kept score, but the kids had a lot of fun throwing those bean bags. One year we even gave bean bags as party favors - they're easy to make from fabric scraps if you sew.

Go on a Treasure Hunt

These are some treasure hunt ideas: You can scatter real coins, plastic coins or candy coins in the lawn and let the kids hunt for them, much like an Easter egg hunt. You can hide each child's goodie bag and then give that child a piece of paper with a hint for finding it - it could be a simple map drawing for a young child, a word or two, or a riddle for older children. You can also let the children do a paper clue based hunt as a group - with the goodie bag for the youngest being the first found, along with the clue to the next goodie bag, and so on.

Make a Bracelet/Necklace

This activity can be an activity the children can go to between other activities, or the main focus. A big bag of pony beads, some elastic cord, scissors and an adult to help when needed, and they can make their own jewelry. Or, purchase a bead kit that compliments your chosen theme, such as an animal bead bracelet kit for an animal-themed party, an ocean bracelet kit for an ocean-themed party, or a heart bead jewelry kit for a Valentineâs party. Be sure to supervise this one, so that necklaces and bracelets are not made too tight.

Make their Own Place Cards or Placemats

This activity could be as complex or simple as you want - children can decorate 3x5 cards or construction paper with a variety of stickers, cut outs (use an old beanie baby magazine for a source of a hundred or more beanie pictures, a pokemon magazine for pokemon), crayons, and colored pencils. If you have enough help to cover the placemats after they're done with clear contact paper, they will last a long time. You can also entertain your guests with store-bought activity mats, such as a Dinosaur Activity Placemat for a dinosaur-themed party.

Guess How Many

Fill a jar with candy. Have children write their name on a small piece of paper and their guess as to how many candies are in the jar. The child who guesses the right number, or comes closest, gets a sucker. The candy in the jar is then divided among the children. A variation would be that the winner takes the jar of candy home to share with their family. For added fun, fill the jar with themed candy, such as mini dog bone candies. You can also create a large lollipop bouquet with flower-shaped lollipops, and let your guests guess how many lollipops youâve included.

Concentration

Use our Kaboose Clip Art to make matching cards to fit your birthday theme. Two of each picture mounted on sturdy cardstock and laminated, if desired. Or, purchase a memory game to compliment your chosen theme, such as a car- and truck-themed memory game or a magic-themed memory game.

Who Am I?

When the children come through the door tape a farm animal or item/object to their backs. Through the course of the party they may ask each other yes and no questions about what they are. Explain that the first question they may want to ask is "Am I an animal or an object?" At the end of the party each child takes a turn saying what they think they are. Suggestions: cow, pig, sheep...pitchfork, saddle, horseshoe, hay, milk, barn, tractor, etc..

Farm Buddies

Is similar to Who Am I?, but this time you whisper in each childs ear a name of a farm animal. Tell them that there is at least one other person that is the same animal as they are. Throughout the party they may ask each other yes and no questions to try to figure out who their "Farm Buddy" is. At the end of the party tell everyone to go sit by who they think their buddy is. Go over the clues with the kids until they figure it out and everyone is sitting next to the correct buddy.

Birthday Dinner

Players sit in a circle. The first player starts by saying, "At my birthday dinner I like to eat hamburgers". The next player must repeat "At my birthday dinner I like to eat hamburger..." and add another dish. This continues all the way around the circle with each player reciting the dishes in the exact order they have been given and then adding a new one. If a player makes a mistake they slide out of the circle and the game continues. The person left who can perfectly recite the birthday dinner menu wins.

Fruit Basket

Put chairs in a circle with one less chair than there are players. One person says, "I'm grateful for people with blue eyes". Everyone with blue eyes stands up and changes places. While everyone's scurrying for a chair a parent takes one away. The person left standing is out and the last person to sit down goes next..."I'm grateful for everyone who's wearing tennis shoes". Repeat.

Button, Button, Who's got the Button

A child is chosen to be "it" and hides her eyes as a button is given to a child to hide in his lap or behind his back. "It" then has three chances to guess which child has the item. (All children hide their hands in their laps/behind their backs like they have it.) For animal themes, select an item that goes with the animal, such as an animal figure. If you're doing a character theme like Cinderella it would be "Slipper, Slipper, Who's got the Slipper". At our sister site, Birthdayinabox.com, you can find small toys to accommodate just about any party theme

Scavenger Hunt

Scavenger hunts are a fun way to entertain kids at birthday parties. Rather than encouraging competitiveness between teams, have children work together to find all the items. Hide items in yard or designated rooms. If youÃâre throwing a theme party, select small toys or other party favors that compliment your chosen theme

Duck, Duck, Goose

Whatever the theme, substitute words from the theme for "duck" and "goose." (like "Pika, Pika, CHU" or "Scooby Scooby Scooby DOOO")

Hot Potato

You can use virtually any item for the "potato" for this old favorite. For character parties use a stuffed toy of the character.

Simon Says

For character themes replace "Simon" with a character from the theme. Children should listen carefully and only do what "Simon" says.

Red Rover

Divide players into two teams. Each team forms a line by holding hands and stretching themselves out. The two teams face each other and should be about 25 feet apart or more. Each side takes turns calling, "Red Rover, Red Rover, send (name) right over." At that signal, the player called, runs from his line and tries to break through the line of his/her opponents. If he breaks through, he can take one opponent back with him to his team. If he does not break through, he joins the other team. The team to add the most players wins.

Charades

Have one child come up to the front of the group and whisper the name of an animal, or something to do with your theme, to them. They then act out what the animal does. The rest of the kids try to guess the name of the animal.

Water Balloon Volleyball

You'll need lots of water balloons stored in a bucket full of water and towels for each pair of children. Divide children into two groups. Pair them off and give each pair a beach towel. One side begins by placing a water balloon in the center of their towel. Each child holds onto one two corners of the towel in their hands. The object is to toss the water balloon over the net with the opposing side catching the balloon in their towel. The volley continues until one side misses and the balloon breaks giving the other team a point. First team to 15 wins.

Variation: If you do not own a volleyball put two sets of pairs a distance apart and have them volley back and forth.

Variation for young children: Instead of beach towels use two large blankets. Divide into teams, each team member holds a part of the blanket. Toss the balloon back and forth between teams. Not too tough with a bit of team work.

Make sure to carefully clean up the balloon remains as they are choke hazards for young children.

Freeze

Begin by playing music, everyone moves and dances until the music stops then they must "freeze" in whatever position they happen to be in.

Musical Chairs

For character themes based on movies or T.V. shows play music from the program and tape characters on each chair. You can also use themed wall cutout for basic themes, such as farm animals or cars and trucks.

Pop-the-Balloon

All the children gather in a circle, holding hands. Everyone moves into the center and on the birthday child's mark begins blowing. The circle expands getting larger and larger until you can no longer hold hands and "POP" everyone falls down laughing. Toddlers and young children love it! Have each child grab a balloon at the same time and try to pop it.

Make sure to carefully clean up the balloon remains as they are choke hazards for young children.

Balloon Bust Relay

Purchase large balloons, stuff with a prize such as a whistle, then inflate and tie. You will need one balloon for each guest. Divide children into two teams and place each team behind the start line. At the other end of the room are the balloons. On your mark a child from each team runs to the other end of the room, grabs a balloon and sits on it, bounces on it, lays on it, anything they can do to make it pop.

When the balloon pops they collect their prize and run back to their teammates. The game continues until every child has retrieved their prize. If one team falls behind parents are allowed to help. Make sure you've got the movie camera rolling, you won't want to miss the action or the expressions. If you don't have time for a relay yell, "GO" and let every child grab a balloon at the same time and try to pop it.

Make sure to carefully clean up the balloon remains, as they are choke hazards for young children.

Wits and Consequences

Blow up balloons with questions, written on strips of paper, inside and place balloons in Bag "A". Let each guest reach in and pull out a balloon on their turn. If they answer correctly they stay in the game for another 'round, if they answer incorrectly they pull a balloon out of Bag "B", pop it and have to do what it says..."Rub your tummy and pat your head at the same time", "Strut and cluck like a chicken three times". If they complete their task they can return to the game. If not they can cheer on the remaining players. When all the questions have been answered the games over.

Make sure to carefully clean up the balloon remains, as they are choke hazards for young children.
Good luck

lian

I'm having my room repainted this December. What color should I choose to paint it?And any bedroom decor ideas?

Note: I have a small width, large length room (if that makes sense...)
My old room color is blue so i'm not going for that

Answer
It depends on what sort of mood you want to create in your room, like if you want a happy, jolly mood you can go for a bright colours, or if you want a calm effect you can go for calm colours like grey, or pastel colours.

What kind of dresser is this pic included?

tess

http://bedroomdesigncatalog.com/chic-pink-and-black-bedroom-wall.htm/chic-pink-and-black-bedroom-wall-decor-ideas

Not the bed just the thing around it.
I don't know what it's called and I need to order one.
Thanks

Answer
A dresser is piece of furniture where personal items, such as clothing or toiletries, are often stored. A vanity, on the other hand, is a type of dresser with a mirror and a matching chair that allows people to apply their cosmetics or dress themselves in front of the mirror.

Ive looked through all of the popular websites like HGTV but I'm looking for more artistic and creative designs, something original.

How can I make my bedroom better?

Mandy

I have had the same bedroom since middle school. I'm now a junior in college! I really want to make it more mature and stylish but don't know where to begin. I can't change my wallpaper but I'm down to paint, buy some new pieces, work on different projects etc to make it nicer. I need some help though. I'm not good with decorating. Any suggestions? All are appreciated.
Here is picture of my room:
http://yfrog.com/2o0315002128j

Answer
well, you can select the paint of your chioce and make sure that you choose the rest of the furnishings and other accessories to match with it, to make your room mature, get some nice tall vases, they are in fashion these days and fill them up with artifical flowers and shrubs, you can even leave the vases empty if they are good looking enough

get a nice shelf and cabinet set, it will make it easy for you to keep the room tidy and organized as you will be able to store all your books and other important things inside the cabinet and shelf and it would add some order to your room

you can also hang some nice wall hangings and get some really good looking lights for your room, they will go a long way in reinforcing the mature theme and make the room look big

make sure you paint the room in a color that is both light and effective as only then you will be able to achive the right combination

Ideas for decorating a kids bedroom for 2 girls and a baby boy in a skull/pirate theme (girls 10 and 5,boy 1yr?

boys bedroom pirate theme

boys bedroom pirate theme image

moi

Im looking for lots of ideas
it needs to be neutral without being too boyish
but also not girly, obviously...
it also needs to go with all the ages as well
I was thinking skulls for the girls since they like them
and more pirate for my son
but give me your ideas
with details like colors,etc...
thank you

Answer
yes go with a neutral color like soft green or baby blue but come back and use cling art stickers ( they peel off). they might have a pirate theme or a boat theme set. if not then bring in your theme with lamps and clocks and wall art. however i like the idea of using a glaze to stamp on a cross bones pattern to your wall in a border pattern around room.

Would you paint a nursery brown?

Joel's Mom

My little boy is due this December, and I've always thought a brown nursery would be cute.
A darker brown, but not TOO dark.

I'm going to get the Fisher Price Rainforest Set, which is full of greens and browns and blues and bright colors, and I thought brown would look nice.

Would you paint a nursery brown?
If not, why not?
I was thinking brown because it you're familiar with the rainforest nursery set, it's VERY obnoxiously bright, and so I thought a neutral wall tone would kind of tone it down a little.

Answer
My bedroom is brown, the nursery is a mossy green (dark-ish but not dark). A bedroom should be calming, not exciting! My baby sisters room was bright, bright, bright yellow and I won't say its the only reason she never slept there but it couldn't help!

If you find brown appealing and calming (as I do) then go for it. Remember the nursery is more for you anyway.

Browns can be "natural" or "woody" and feel cosy, and sometimes "country". Browns of course are used in a lot of "nature" themes which can be "country" or "contemporary".

Browns are often used in classic "french" styles which are very elegant.

Browns can be used in "handsome" themes. Think old maps, pirate ships. Browns can be very nice when mixed with blue.

I could go on and on but basically brown can be warm, or cool depending on how it is used. It can fade away and allow other elements to show off, or it can be powerful. It can be elegant or country. It can be handsome or pretty.
Oh and one other word about darker colours -its really important not to go glossy -it really tends to look weird with the reflections. Lots of paints have a between matte and eggshell which is nice, or eggshell is fine.

http://www.behr.com/behrx/inspiration/emotional_7.jsp
(photo in this article is a darker brown wall)
Your bedroom is the first and last place that you see each dayâa private sanctuary of your very own. It's also the place where you spend about a third of your life; it should revitalize your spirit each time you awake.

Because they are private spaces, bedrooms allow more flexibility than other rooms in regard to color, style and décor, making the decorating opportunities for these rooms almost endless (see Defining Your Decorative Style feature).

Just remember, above all, the atmosphere you create in your bedroom should be harmonious and comforting.

Base your design thinking around colors, textures, fabrics and objects that make you feel calm, serene and secure. The bedroom is also the place for the things that are most dear to youâwhether that's art, photographs or personal mementos.

[...]

Neutrals
Neutral (see The Hidden Power of Neutrals feature) colors are also an excellent choice for bedrooms. Neutrals are very soothingâquietly elegant, these subtle hues are calm and understated.

Using neutral colors also offers a lot of flexibility for décor. Since neutrals go with everything, it's possible to make subtle changesâbedding, artwork, and window coverings, for exampleâto give the room a new, updated look, without having to repaint the entire room.

http://www.catalogs.com/info/home-decor/bedroom-painting-ideas.html
Neutral colors are another favorite choice for bedrooms, as they allow the occupant to inject a dash of unexpected color throughout the space. Neutral tones also provide for easy rearranging of accessories as well as seasonal decorating within the bedroom. Maximize neutral color schemes and monochromatic color schemes in the bedroom by adding sufficient texture, via interesting bed linens, window treatments, floor coverings and wall coverings.

http://www.dreamhomedecorating.com/decorating-color-schemes.html#neutral
The real neutral colors are white, black, and any mixture of these two, that is, all the different shades of gray.

Sometimes brown is seen in the neutral neighborhood as well, but strictly speaking, brown is not neutral. It is a mix of many different colors, among them yellow, orange, red, black, and green.

However, since most woods are a shade of brown, and much of our furniture is wooden, we are so used to seeing brown within decorating color schemes that it appears neutral to us.

Now to the second part of the question: Using neutrals in decorating color schemes does require a special way of looking at your room. Youâll find more about this in the chapter on

http://interiordesign.lovetoknow.com/Choosing_Paint_colors_for_a_Room
Neutral colors are mood neutral and can work just about anywhere.

How to redecorate a small bedroom?

bedroom decor for sale
on related designs quotes for teenagers girls teenage quotes for girls ...
bedroom decor for sale image

Lucy

I've outgrown my bedroom and my dad has finally agreed to let me redecorate my room. I was thinking a sort of vintage/french/old-style room, those are the things I love.

But to be honest I have no idea how to go about decorating it. My room is a pale purple and that is the one thing my dad refuses to let me change, so I have to work around that.

Any advice on how I can get a vintage feel in my bedroom?

Answer
You can start by repainting that wall- maybe "tuscan sunset"- or also there is a type of paint called "crackle" which makes it look like 'old world' peeling paint- is really awesome, but takes time.
Also for wall and other decor garage sales and thrift stores are great places to shop! It is th time for people to start having them, and may I suggest going to a "HOA" garage sale. That means the whole neighborhood is having the garage sales and you wont have to drive all over town.
Also I think every room could use a 6 ft ficus - always like the way they make rooms look. Wal-Mart, $20- $30.
And to finish off, you will need rugs and window coverings. For the rug, Big Lots is always a good place to check. Window coverings are easy cuz you can buy the fabric you want and make your own, and is VERY easy to do.
Hope I was helpful, enjoy your new room!

Anyone have good ideas for pictures and things that I can hang in my bedroom walls?

CG

My bedroom's theme is a bit Middle Eastern, but the pictures I've been choosing for it don't have anything to do with the room's decor so I really don't mind the theme much. I also would really like a cool, original way in which to arrange them in my walls. I'm on a tight budget so I can't spend much.

Answer
The art work does not have to "match" to look nice in your room. The colors in the pictures, however, should blend with or complement the colors you've used for bedding, walls, floor covering, furniture, etc.

You could use wall sconces, mirrors, shelves, plates, etc. in with the pictures to make a focal arrangement.

If you're on a tight budget (aren't we all?) check out yard sales, thrift stores, consignment stores, etc. for bargains. You'll be surprised at what you can find for little $$.

When I have a lot of things to hang and I am concerned about where to place them, I trace the shapes out on brown paper and tape them to the wall. I keep arranging until I get it perfect, then I put the actual pieces up This takes time, but it has saved me many a nail-hole patch job.

How old were the characters of the brady bunch kids?

Answer
In 1974 during the show's final season, the producers decided to add a younger character, Cousin Oliver (Robbie Rist), since the Brady children were now all 12 or older (Barry Williams was 19 during the show's final season) and a lot of the fifth season was aimed towards Greg going to college. In the episode in which Oliver was introduced ("Welcome Aboard"), Carol explains that her brotherâJack Tyler, Oliver's fatherâtook a four-month engineering assignment in a South American jungle where there would be no schools. He was taking his wife, Pauline, with him and Oliver couldn't go.

HOPE THIS HELPS

Origins
In 1965, following the success of his TV series Gilligan's Island, Sherwood Schwartz conceived the idea for The Brady Bunch after reading an article in the Los Angeles Times that said "40% of marriages [in the United States] had a child or children from [a] previous marriage." He instantly set to work on a pilot script, called Yours and Mine, and passed it around the "big three" television networks of the era. ABC, CBS and NBC all loved the script, but each network wanted changes to it before they would commit to filming it. Schwartz felt that his script was perfect, and although he had the interest of all three networks in America, he decided to shelve it.[1]

Despite the similarities between the series and the 1968 theatrical release Yours, Mine and Ours starring Henry Fonda and Lucille Ball, the original script for The Brady Bunch pre-dated the script for the film. However, the success of the film was likely a factor in ABC's eventually ordering the series.

[edit] Plot
Mike Brady (Robert Reed), a widowed architect with sons Greg (Barry Williams), Peter (Christopher Knight) and Bobby (Mike Lookinland), married Carol Martin (née Tyler) (Florence Henderson), whose daughters were Marcia (Maureen McCormick), Jan (Eve Plumb) and Cindy (Susan Olsen). The daughters took the Brady surname. Schwartz wanted Carol to have been a divorcée. The network objected to this, but a compromise was reached whereby no mention was made of the circumstances in which Carol's first marriage ended, but many assume she was widowed. The newly-formed juvenile sextet, parents Carol and Mike, Mike's live-in housekeeper Alice (Ann B. Davis), and the boys' dog Tiger settled into a large, suburban home designed by Mike.

Often erroneously cited as the first series to show a "blended" family (two series which debuted in the 1950s, Make Room For Daddy and Bonanza, had step-siblings and half-siblings respectively), it came at a time when divorce and remarriage in America was seeing a surge. Episodes in the first season chronicled the family learning to adjust to its new circumstances and become a unit, as well as typical childhood problems such as dating, rivalries and family squabbles and the fact that their house had two bedrooms for six children.

Subtle references to larger social problems found their way into the dialogue from time to time. In one social-issue episode, season two's "The Liberation of Marcia Brady," Marcia explores the oppression of the Brady women and sets out to prove a girl can do anything a boy can. The boys find this very upsetting and Peter finds himself joining the Sunflower Girls, Marcia's club, in hopes of making her back down from her 'bad idea'.

Mike did much of his architectural work in an office/design studio within the house, an apparent way of lending some realism to the way in which sitcom dads seem to be almost always at home while nonetheless earning a good living. In the episodes where he was shown in his away-from-home office, he often came home from work about the same time the children got home from school.

The theme song penned by Schwartz quickly communicated to audiences that the Bradys were a blended family, though the situation largely was deemphasized from the second season on with a few exceptions. Two episodes from the third season, "Not So Rose Colored Glasses" and "Jan's Aunt Jenny", mention that Mike and Carol had been married for three years. In "Kelly's Kids," reference was made to the Bradys' adoptions ("Either way, you adopted three boys and you adopted three girls, right?") when their neighbors, the Kellys, adopted three boys of different races.

In 1971, due to the success of the Brady's ABC Friday night companion show The Partridge Family (about a musical family), some episodes began to feature the Brady Kids as a singing group. Though they never charted as high as the Partridges, the cast began touring the United States during the summer hiatus from the show, headlining as The Kids from the Brady Bunch.
