You could use the orange side of this and have a tailor sow on some gold ribbon:

Also look through this collection:

I have a bright floral bedspread and white walls, but the room looks boring, does anyone have any ideas of things that could go on the wall, that isn't to expensive or any places of pictures of teen bedrooms where I can get ideas? Thanks.

Answer
Hi! You can paint your walls a color you really like or that matches your bedspread. Also, fabrics for your windows would liven your room up too. Pictures and posters will help too.

Try taking a look at this link to help you out!

Also, looking at decorating magazines such as IKEA and JCPenney are great help also.

Good Luck with your room!

Craft ideas for middle school boys at summer camp?

Q. I am crafts director at a summer camp, and I am having trouble coming up with crafts that the boys will enjoy. Keep in mind that they are middle school age. We will do crafts an hour a day for 4 days, if that helps. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated! Thank you =)

Answer
Boats out of milk cartons.
PIrate maps.
decorate walking sticks with feathers, bits of leather, painting
paper airplanes (this really can keep them busy for hours just have somewhere that they can also throw planes without hititng other people)
painted rocks
woodburning things.
bug traps out of milk cartons.
Sometimes they just want to draw and color, just give them a theme like pirate ship, ninja secret lairs or design a car and they will go at it for hours and then they wil explain it to you for hours
Making Signs for things, like beware signs for their bedrooms at home
Anything with popsicle sticks (this is a little tricky cause you've got to use hot glue, the elmers doesn't dry fast enough)
Mosaics, weird but true middle school boys enjoy puzzle like things and this is something that I have found they get really into

a lot of people don't think this age of boys like crafts, boys of any age love to build things and use their imagination which is pretty much crafts.

War paint is always a favorite too, but its really messy

What would you think of a pirate flag in someones house?

My son, who is 2 1/2, has a space themed room (mainly shades of blue). His bed is an espresso color, and I am looking to buy a dresser for him. I could buy a white dresser and paint the drawers blue or add space-themed decals to it, but I am not sure if it would clash with his dark-colored toddler bed? Ideas/suggestions?

Answer
Mixing and matching can definitely work, it just depends how you go about it.

I would suggest leaving color off of the furniture. Keeping it a neutral color (like white or brown), you don't have the hassle of having to repaint when you want to change color scheme / décor again. Space themed decals are great! They add to the theme, but can always be removed later.

I do suggest getting some espresso knobs that match the bed and adding those to the dresser (if it has knobs). This room mixes espresso and white rather elegantly. https://www.google.ca/search?hl=en&q=dark+borwn+and+white+furniture+childrens+room&bav=on.2,or.r_cp.r_qf.&bvm=bv.44770516,d.b2I&biw=1366&bih=599&um=1&ie=UTF-8&tbm=isch&source=og&sa=N&tab=wi&ei=o8JfUbjMF4KYqgHAzoGgDw#imgrc=dtYighXwrr_uGM%3A%3BsMQvWjruONGcoM%3Bhttp%253A%252F%252Fwww.home-designing.com%252Fwp-content%252Fuploads%252F2012%252F02%252FBrown-red-white-small-kids-room.jpg%3Bhttp%253A%252F%252Fwww.home-designing.com%252F2012%252F02%252Fspace-saving-designs-for-small-kids-rooms%3B1500%3B1072

The bookshelves match the brown accents on the furniture, which really ties the décor together.

Good luck! :)

Can you help with Unisex bedroom ideas?

Melissa

My children will be sharing a bedroom. My son is 6, and my daughter will be 3 this month. Does anyone have any design ideas that will make them both feel at home? I'm a single mom, so budget is a big factor to consider. Thanks for your help!

Answer
Rubber duckies are always cute. My sister's kids' bathroom had a whole makeover just by adding a new shower curtain, toothbrush holder, rug, and framed photo all of rubber duckies. I think she got the stuff at WalMart. I love it for a kids' bathroom.

EDIT: I'm so sorry I misread that and thought it said bathroom.
A cute unisex idea for a bedroom is a jungle theme or even just using coordinating colors on the bedding. A red, white, and blue patriotic theme would be really cute, and easy too. One could have a navy blue comforter and the other could have a red comforter with white sheets. Then you can find all kinds of stars and stripes stuff cheap at thrift stores and again, at WalMart/Kmart/TJ Maxx - whatever you have near you. Good luck!

Hi. Me and my husband just bought a vacation home in SW Florida (Ft. Meyers area). Anyway, we also have 2 kids - 7 year old girl and 3 year old boy. The house is only 2 bedrooms, so the kids will be sharing a room when we go.

Need help with some decorating ideas. Do you like the idea of blue/white flowery comforter set for daughter and blue/white stripes for son? Or maybe just bright colors - like bright pink and green? Not sure what direction to go. Any help?

BTW, the furniture is like a white distressed wood. Thank you!!

Answer
1] find 'girl' and 'boy' comforters in same colors, different designs, as you said.
2] paint the walls the light blue [ sky ]
3] get a washable rug, in a deeper shade of blue.
4] plain white blinds or curtains
5] themes to consider:
beach [ obviously ] with driftwwod lamp, adirondack chair miniatures, etc. ]
sea creatures - 'her' side could have mermaid pix; 'his' side could have Nemo
6] don't forget some storage for toys, etc.

Any suggestions and ideas?

Answer
paprika! just kidding, you need to focus on renewing your feelings of desire for each other, a huge problem in the bedroom is people get into habitual sex, sex is best when both people are feeling realy in love and really excited and in the mood. Plan a romantic night, bring flowers etc (I don't know why I think I'm talking to a guy, those grey smileys are unisex, but I think you get the idea if you are looking to please a woman read on) take as much time as neccessary to get her ready, don't just go d*wn on her for 2 min, then poke her. Cuddle, undress slowly, touch her whole body, please her in whatever ways she likes best. Don't stop focusing on her until she tells you.

Confessions of Georgia Nicholson
Gossip Girl
A-List
Private
7 Deadly Sins
It Girl
Alice Series
and please dont suggest twilight cause i didnt really like it all that much, it was good but ive read better.
Thanks =)

Answer
Wow, some of those were my favorite books when I was younger. Here are some that I also enjoyed and some summaries of their plots.

1. The Princess Diaries series by Meg Cabot

Much better than the Disney movies of the same name.

2. the Mediator series, also by Meg Cabot

Susannah Simon moves from New York to California, having to deal with a whole new social circle. However, this move becomes even more complicated when she has to deal with her unusual ability: Susannah can see and talk to ghosts and they come to her to help find passage to another realm. Life gets even weirder when a very attractive male ghost haunts her bedroom.

3. Prep by Curtis Sittenfeld

A girl from a small town in Indiana goes to an elite boarding school on the East Coast that consists of primarily rich kids. She has to deal with all sorts of things, from boys to a game of Assassin to school to not being upper class like many of her classmates.

4. the Midnighters series by Scott Westerfeld
Five individuals in the small town of Bixby, Oklahoma find that they all have a unique ability. Time stops for them at midnight and they have an hour to do whatever they wish, with special powers at their fingertips.

5. the Uglies series by Scott Westerfeld
In a future society, everyone recieves surgery at the age of sixteen to become stunningly attractive. However, this surgery also prevents dispute, anger, creativity, and wanting to be different, and Tally Youngblood is beginning to think that becoming a pretty is a bad thing.

6. The Year of Secret Assignments by Jaclyn Moriarty
When three girls from a haughty private school are chosen to be penpals with three boys from an enemy school as part of a project to bring the two schools together, chaos, kisses, and surprises ensue. The whole story is told through notes and letters.

7. A Great and Terrible Beauty by Libba Bray (and sequels)
These books are set in Victorian England. When Gemma Doyle's mother is killed in India, Gemma decides to pursue a proper education at a finishing school in London where she will become a lady. However, this school has some supernatural secrets.

8. Divine Secrets of the Ya-Ya Sisterhood (and sequels) by Rebecca Wells
A woman is in love with her fiancee and living the life she's always dreamed of. However, due to the unhappy marriage of her parents, she isn't sure if she should go through with the marriage. It's up to her mother's friends (the Ya-Yas) to convince her that life is full of triumphs and tragedies.

9. Crank by Ellen Hopkins
Kristina is a goody-two-shoes honors student. However, when she visits her less-than-desirable father over the summer vacation, Kristina becomes addicted to meth. She develops an alter-ego, Bree. The book is told from Kristina's point of view and primarily through vivid poetry.

10. Nineteen Minutes by Jodi Picoult
A school shooting is terrible, but so swift that it begins and ends in nineteen minutes. Ten students are killed and twenty more are injured. But the events leading up to the shooting in small-town New Hampshire have been brewing for far longer than nineteen minutes. The book explores the shooting from the points of view of the judge, a survivor, the shooter, and the shooter's mother, and examines the events leading up to and after the shooting.

There, that should keep you occupied for awhile. Let me know if you have any questions. (:

Interior Decor Tips?

Q. My hubby and I recently bought a house. I haven't decided on what colour to paint our bedroom, but I was hoping somebody had some knowledge of colours and their affects on mood, and well-being and all that. lol I've had a banana yellow room for the last 8 months and I don't think I want yellow again....nor does my husband. If there is a colour that has some negative effect, I'm curious about it.

Answer
When it comes to bedrooms, try to keep the wall color neutral or, at the very least, calm... (like light blues, beiges, even lavenders... if you want something darker, you can go with burgundys, burnt oranges, browns... greens are great too!) Really ANY color will work... it's finding the right SHADE that can be difficult.

For example, a cream colored bedroom with a single wine accent wall could be positively beautiful... but a room with fire-engine red walls is intense.

I did a little google research (haha!) to try and answer your question about which colors are said to have certain effects.
Go here: http://freshome.com/2007/04/17/room-color-and-how-it-affects-your-mood
Just scroll down past the intro and it goes color by color... it'll tell you what colors are best for what rooms and the effects these colors have on the people living there. (Note, crimson is BAD!)

I hope this helped a little... if you want more, just google search room color meanings. You should come up with more answers.

Hope I helped hun! Good luck!

ps. I had a yellow room for a little while when I was a kid... and hated it! I'm definitely a fan of calm blues myself.

I'm moving into a different bedroom soon and can redo it. The doors and trim are light/medium brown and the carpet is tan. I can paint the walls and get new furniture and stuff and I need to figure out a theme. I wanted to do an all white theme, but would that be weird with the brown and tan doors and carpet? (I can't paint the doors or change to carpet) or is the white theme lame? If so what are some other cool themes or color schemes? Thaaanks!

Answer
The all white bedroom is a great idea. Even with the bit of brown/tan you can still make this room relaxing and calm.
Here is an example :http://www.flickr.com/photos/melissm2007/4391887998/in/photostream/
You can use natural fiber headboard and add pieces like that to your room.

What is some nice creative decor for a small space In my bedroom?

Nikki

I'm a teenage girl and I have a corner in my room between two windows which looks really bare, I have my tv in the corner on a cabinet but I was just looking if anyone new what decorative ideas I could do with the wall. I thought of a photo collage but I thought it might look a little weird since its a corner. But I'm open to any suggestions

Answer
Well it depends on how far away the windows are from the corner of the wall and the colour of your room but I am a teenage girl too and I think maybe one of the following could look cute:
- Wall stickers (they have a sticky backing and look like wall art but can be peeled off if you want to change it)
- small canvases (I live in Australia and there is a really cool store called Typo which has cute canvases so you could have three that continue a picture e.g. first canvas is the branch of a tree, 2nd canvas if the trunk ad 3rd is the other side of the tree)
- Wallpaper on one wall only
- On the cabinet you could put those 3D letters in different fonts that spell something important to you e.g. 'love' or your name or someting

Hope this helps! Answer mine? http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20130830182826AAxYaIf

I am 13 my birthday is in july 21 what ideas do you have for a party
I want something cool with alot of music and there no budget for me!!!

Answer
For my 15th birthday,i decided to have a hawiian themed party. If youre looking for a great way to celabrate a birthday for teens,a hawiian theme is the right way to go!Everybody loved mine, and they are still raving on about it to this day!So follow my party plan instructions, and youre guests will all have an enjoyable and memorable time! First off,we didnt want to pay out loads of money on invitations, decor, food, music etc; so we made my invites on the computer,i made them really colourful and bright! i also looked up on the net what all of there names would be in Hawiian, and wrote them on there invites! We made pineapple centerpieces out of real pineapples and crepe paper. We bought big pieces of coloured card card, and wrote different things on them like "Aloha","happy 15th birthday" etc;we made our own food but we did order a big cake with a hula girl on it.And finaly we went to the library and got some wiked tropical music! Now for the fun part! When my gests arrived(35 total)my mum presented them with a flower lei and a tropical fruit punch in a coconut shell cup, with pretty umbrellas in it!And the boys got a staw hat!On the front door,we covered it with bright balloons, and a big sign saying "the party's here." we have quite a big garden,so we decided to hire a'surf board simulator' (roughly ?160) to ad to the hawiian theme, that was the highlight of the party, and it was quite cheap to hire for a whole day!Every body loved it! Since we didnt have a pool we thought we would buy one of those round'stay up all year pools(?100)but we were going to get 1 for the summertime anyway! so i told my friends to bring there most colourful bikinis and towels! the pool really set the hawiian beach feeling! We set out 2 big tables and decorated them with confetti, rafia triming, the pineapple centrepieces and a coloured tablecloth! And we servd snacks such as crisps, candy, chocolate, fruit punch etc; We bought a limbo set for the party aswell, but you can easily try to make 1 from branches,or just have an adult hold a pole for you!I set up a treasure hunt for all my mates and I. i hid different types of sweets arond the garden, and for a joke i hid stuff like brocoli and carrots! when it got dark and it was time to come in (around 8.30) we cleared out the dining room and/or living area, and turned it into a dance area, where we also later played truth or dare games,we opened my pressies and stuffed ourselves with all of the left over food! yum! afterwards i had a few of my close friends sleep round after, it was a very eventful day, and everyone went home very hyper! If you want to go all out on this you could hire a DJ or some professional hula dancers, and for decoration mybe you could buy some cheap sand from somewhere and pour it over your patio for a more 'beachy effect' I hope i have given you more than enough helpful ideas on how to have a great hawiian party! Have fun !!!!!!!!! Also oriental trading has tons of cheap items for this party so go to orientaltrading.com

Is there a Website that offers Bedding and other Bedroom decor in a Classical Music Theme?

kids bedroom decor
on Boy Room Ideas for a Nice Room Boy Room Ideas for a Nice Room Home ...
kids bedroom decor image

Tyler H

I desperatly need a new look for my bedroom and I am a Classical Musician. So I was wondering is there anything out there to help me?

Answer
Choose deep serene colors for the wall, such as smoky gray or burgundy then add music wall art in silver or gold tones, respectively, to add contrast.

Change things up for classical music aficionados with framed classical musical scores, busts of Mozart or Beethoven set on floor pedestals and cast resin grilles above doorways and windows that recreate the look of elegant plastered reliefs. Paint them in a hue that is similar to the wall color in order to make it look as though an artisan has created them on site.

All kinds of musical themed home decor here:

http://www.themusicstand.com/Music-Home-Decor-s/1.htm

As for bedding, there is more geared toward kids for this theme. If you prefer a more adult look, I'd suggest going with plain bedding that coordinates with the walls, and add music inspired pillows. If you add a lot of other musical decor to the room, the bedding might just be overkill. The site I've provided above will have nice classical looking music note inspired pillows that would look nice added to a solid color bedding set. You might also want to consider purchasing their musical throw and adding it to the bottom of the bed for a pop of design there as well.

Mixing species of hardwood floor?

Spoof

Does it harm resale value of a house if you more than one species of wood for the hardwood floors? I am thinking of doing the kids bedrooms in a different wood than the hallway. The change would happen at the doorway. My house is not any particular style...3/2 single-story SFR. I'm not planning on moving for at least 10 years, so I'm thinking of doing what I like, not what necessarily appeals to a buyer tomorrow.

Thanks!

Answer
As long as it's installed properly, mix away. With the availability of laminate flooring, more people are installing their own floors. They pick one species to match the decor of one room, another for a different room. Hardwoods are following a similar trend. Another popular option is running a row or two of a contrasting wood as an accent, or installing an inlay of a different species. Do what makes you happy. Good luck.

Where can I find vintage Hollywood movie posters?

Becca W.

I am currently re-decorating my bedroom and I choose the vintage Hollywood theme because I love old movies. I am looking for vintage movie posters, so far I was only able to find three at the stores (Casablanca, Breakfast at Tiffany's and Mairlynn Monroe in that white dresss). Does anybody know of any good websites where I can find some Hollywood movie posters? I would also like to point out that I am on a budget : ) Also, does anyone have any tips for decor that would enhance my theme?

Answer
As mentioned before, allposters.com has thousands upon thousands of movie posters (and posters of other types). You can pick up frames almost anywhere, but IKEA has nice beechwood frames that can be painted.

My suggestion as to decorating is to pick a style and choose both posters and accessories that suit that style. For example, if you like Art Deco, you could get posters from movies like Metropolis, Wings, and the 1931 Frankenstein. (Posters from more recent movies like Bonnie & Clyde and the Agatha Christie mysteries work well here too.) If you wanted to go 50s retro, you could get posters from movies like Breakfast at Tiffany's, Sunset Boulevard, and Ben-Hur.

For decorating, you could paint using historical paint colours for those eras. Sherwin Williams has a historical palette, as does Dulux in the UK. Paint is cheap, especially if you do it yourself, and can really make a big difference.

Once you choose a specific era, it'll also be easier to find furniture and accessories that match. 50s accessories show up a lot in garage sales in post-war neighbourhoods - many seniors who were 20 in the 50s are moving into seniors' residences and cleaning out their homes.

What's the best way to get 50's decor for a child's bedroom?

Faith Rein

I'm building a house and I really like the 50's retro. Unfortunately, I don't know much about 50's retro decorating. I like it because I went to CandyTown USA a few weeks back, and I liked the sod fountain time era. I asked them what time era it was and they said 50's. Can I have help with decor?

Answer
I absolutely love 1950s home decor.

Your best bet will be going to the library and looking for books on that decor theme. Also searching the internet for retro, vintage and 1950s decor. There are a lot of pictures online that will inspire you.

Another tip, rent some 1950s sitcoms like Father Knows Best, I love Lucy, Dick Van Dyke, The Donna Reed Show, The Adventures of Ozzie and Harriet, Make Room for Daddy, etc.

Any of these will have the decor you are going for and may show a girls bedroom now and again.

Good luck!

Q. I have a 8, 3 and 3 month old in the same bedroom. I want to move but the 3 bedroom apt are full and we can't afford a house right now.

Answer
A decorating theme is a great way to begin decorating a room for a child. If you're like most parents, you've probably spent lots of time thinking about decorating your new child's room even before he joined your family. While bunnies are cute and teddy bears are darling, you might want something different for the bedroom or playroom.

There are lots of great themes for boys' rooms. A special theme will provide both the focus and the inspiration for a special one-of-a-kind room and can be adapted as your child grows. Time to get started!

Bug's Life
From bees and ants to frogs and reptiles, creatures of nature often capture a child's attention. Browse theme ideas at Posh Tots including a Bug Off Table and Chair Set, Bug bed linens, and or frog lamp.

Favorite Animals
What boy wouldn't love a room focusing on his favorite pet? Whether it's a dog or cat, bird or snake, using this theme will make your son (and his pet) feel particularly at home. Be sure to put up lots of pictures with your son and his best friend around the room and make sure you have stuffed animals scattered everywhere.

Playhouse / Playtown
This theme will provide a wonderful scheme for decorating your son's room and provide lots of wonderful playtime possibilities as well. A whimsical or the cute playtown chest can be your starting point. Or, do a border in kids designs or paint a mural of a street scene on one or more walls. Name the storefronts for family members ("Katie's Groceries", "Ted's Puppet Theatre", "Todd's Bike Shop", "Anne's Pet Heaven", "Sara's Video Den", or Dennis' Book Nook").

Safari
For a safari look, find wonderful, colorful animal wallpaper borders and fabrics at any wallpaper store. Paint the walls blue, tan, ivory, or any of the colors in your wallpaper border. Make pillows and valances from coordinating leopard-print fabrics, and find some stuffed lions and tigers for the corner. Mount a butterfly net, binoculars, or straw hat on the walls. Use colorful matboard and frame some of your child's artwork to display. Maybe he'll draw some lions!

Rustic Cabin
Most every child loves spending time at camp or in the mountains. And what parent doesn't have happy childhood memories of hiking, boating, fishing, or just enjoying the outdoors. Birdhouses, bears, moose, and fish might show up in wallpaper borders, in fabrics, bedding, and accessories. For a rustic room you might also choose comfy plaid patterns, flannel fabrics, and log or pine beds. Accessories might use forest themes of animals, mountain scenes, or natural materials such as pine cones, leaves, and sticks. Take another cue from camp and use a sturdy trunk to store toys. With a room this nice, who needs a vacation?

Rain Forest
Choose a colorful jungle border, or try a jungle area rug. Soft fabric snakes and colorful stuffed birds or butterfly cutouts can add to the decor. Make pillows of animal or jungle prints and use themed accessories. Grrr!

Race Cars
With car racing, you think black and white checkered flags, and a finish line. Find an area rug with a car track design. A car bed might be fun, or decorate the walls with a car wall appliques. Add some framed calendar photos or posters of race cars, and put up narrow shelving to display car collections. Zoom!

Outer Space
Take a trip to the stars using a space theme. An Apollo bed set, outerspace border, or star-studded rocking chair might be just the items that inspires your child to reach for the stars. Paint reflective planets or stars on the ceiling in arrangements of the constellations.

Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines
If Dad is in the service, you might let your boy feel patriotic with a room painted in camouflage and outfitted with tanks and desert colors.

Sports
From soccer to baseball to football, sports is a theme that spans the generations. To use a baseball theme for example, use a headboard made from bats, hang curtains from bats used as curtain rods, make a baseball lamp, or hang shelving to display gloves, pennants, and trophies. Paint the room in the colors of your son's favorite team. Sports themed rugs, furniture, and beds are another possibility. Create similar looks for other sports, and you'll have a room that is a big "hit" with sports fans. Play ball!

Wild Colors
Go wild by starting with a lively area rug designed in fun colors for a child. Take your cue from the rug for colors and designs for the rest of the room. Use color everywhere! Paint every surface of a bookcase a different color, and do the same with headboard slats, drawer fronts, and chair legs. This is a great way to help your little one learn his colors! Find a fabric to compliment the rug and use it to tie the room together with window valances or floor pillows.

Movie or Cartoon Characters
There's something for everyone in this theme! Whether your son has been captivated by Mickey Mouse, Alladin, Lion King, Toy Story, or Scooby Doo -- you'll probably be able to find bedding, lamps, and other decorative items that use these themes. Towels for the bathroom and toys will be easy to add.

Pirates
The story of Peter Pan can inspire creative parents to design a wonderful room. Boys intrigued by the notion of pirates will love a room using blue ocean themes, ship masts, portholes, netting, treasure boxes, and secret play hideaways.

Knights and Castles
Artistic parents can faux paint castle walls, murals, and blue skies for a truly memorable room. Use the theme of "A Sword in the Stone" or "Camelot" for inspiration. Find another take on this theme offered by for Mercy's Sake in their Galahad collection.

Trains, Planes, and Automobiles
There are lots of colorful choices in bedding, fabrics, and wallpaper that feature transportation themes. Make a train track border around the room, hang airplanes from the ceiling, or go wild with a car-shaped bed.

Cowboy Kids
This is a fun theme where you can let your imagination run wild. Think bandana valances, chaps wall hangings, tin stars, horses, rope borders, and more. The baby dude designs offered by for Mercy's Sake offer some fun possibilities. Or check out OliveKids.com Camp Wilderness or the Wild West theme designs from PoshTots.com for more creative examples of this theme and products to add to your decor.

Dinosaurs
From cute and stylized to realistic and ferocious -- dinosaurs themes are still popular. If you suspect this is a passing phase for your little one, then opt for solid color bedding and walls, using theme elements in borders, sheets, valances, and posters.

Q. my mom has said i can re decorate my room as long as i buy all the paint etc but to be honest i havent got a clue, if i was left to do it on my own i would probably just go and buy some paint, and wack it all on the wall. but it cant be as easy as that can it :s so can anyone tell me like what different things i'd need to buy and how to go about painting my room?

Answer
Don't worry! It really CAN be that easy if you're decorating a small kid's room! However, if you're doing a big makeover on a teens room, especially a girl's, it can require a bit more planning!

First off, get a theme or colour scheme. For example, you could decorate your room in a shabby-chic style or maybe a more glamorous movie-star theme! It's up to You! If you don't want a theme then just get a colour scheme. Say, bright candy-apple green and lollipop pink! This can look AMAZING! This is a website with lots of different themes. Just click on the themes in the top left-hand corner for inspiration!

http://themeroomideas.com/Victorian/Vintage-style-decorating-ideas.html

http://themeroomideas.com/Marie-Antoinette-style/bedroom-decor.html

Move around your furniture if you think it will look better with, say, the bed under the window and your desk near the door. Now buy your bedding, paint, and curtains, as these can really change a room! Buy bedding that either matches your paint or is in a coordinating colour. Look at these websites or Google around for ideas and pictures!

http://www.roomdecoratingideas.net/black-and-white-bedroom-decorating-ideas.php

You colud paint all your walls, just one accent wall behind the bed, (This is what I did in my room! :D ) or you could do stripes or wallpaper! It's up to you!

Once you've got your basics, do the really fun part. Shopping! Bring a friend if you like and go to lots of different shops. Try to look out for...
Beanbags,
Floor cushions,
Mirrors,
Wall Art,
Cute Furniture like trunks that you can store stuff in!
Lamps,
A cool headboard,
An area or accent rug (This is quite important!)
And stuff like that.

Display medals & trophies you've won, framed school papers, photos and general treasures to personalise your room. Have fun and enjoy it and don't forget Fairy Lights!

Any mx racing fatheads?

Si

I recently painted my room and I am a racer myself so I decided I wanted a motocross fathead but the only problem is fathead.com only has one that is of Travis Pastrana which isn't bad at all. I would just like to see some more selections. Is there anything that has dirtbike/racing wall stickers? It doesn't have to be fathead brand but something that is durable, high quality picture, and will come off the wall. Thanks for your time!

Does anyone have a white bedroom?

yellow themed bedroom image
Q. Right now my room is pink and yellow! Pretty bright.
But I have decided to paint it all entirely white to match my new decor.
I'm doing a Paris, France themed bedroom so the most predominate colors are black, white, and this dark raspberry color which I will be painting my bathroom.
Anyway, those with white bedrooms how do you like it?

Answer
I did the same thing. My room was striped with pink, yellow, green, blue, and orange stripes. I just painted it white. I thought it would be boring, but I accessorized with tons of black and white frames to make it look a little more busy. yeah, I like the idea

I need help coming up with ideas for my new beach themed bedroom.?

Q. Ok, so I'm redecorating my bedroom to be beach themed. I already have the colors - pale green, blue, and yellow - but I'm not sure what else to do with it. I'm going to get a daybed or something like it. Any suggestions for me? I'll listen to anybody, I have a waay open mind. (: Thanks!

Deep Purple and Gold or Deep Red and Gold for Master Bedroom?

bedroom luxury decor

bedroom luxury decor image

Bridget

Needing a lil help for our master bedroom, Im torn as to whether we should go with a deep purple and gold or deep red and gold for bedding, curtains and accents.....our bedroom is already painted a deep chocolate color which I love just needing help on the rest of it to pull it all together!! Our house is decorated/designed in tuscan theme so we have a lot of reds, golds and brown throughout. Any advice is appreciated, thanks!!!

Answer
I can picture a deep red tapestry fabric for your bedspread. Perhaps an upholstery shop would be a good source for the material. The curtains could be also be a tapestry fabric, this time with more gold in with the red. Gold cord edges on the bedspread would add a touch of luxury. If the fabric does not come wide enough for a seamless bedspread, gold cord could also be sewn along the seams.

If you like purple as well, use some of that color for small accessories. Here again, a tapestry or multi-color effect will allow it to blend in well with the rest of the room's décor.

All those deep colors will make for a nice dark sleeping environment. But you'll want to have plenty of light available when you need it. Do you like gold-tone lamps and hanging fixtures with prisms?

What are reasonable prices/price ranges for home furnishings, such as curtains, carpets, etc. in NJ/NY?

Please give some stores that sell home furnishings that match your price ranges.

Interior design help awkward loft room?

I moved into a house 9 months ago and the loft conversion is great but awkward. It has the stairs in the middle of the room very low ceilings on both sides then its high in the middle, it's shape enough to walk around but the stais are in the way. Also there is space at the low part, the kid that used to be there before had a bed there. I need some help, what furniture should I get floor seats? Chairs? Table? Daybed? Desk? How do I arrange it? I truly need a interior designer :(
To wa

Answer
I am not a professional interior designer, but I have designed interiors!

Without seeing your space I am guessing at what the size actually is.

Consider using the low sides for storage. Put in inexpensive cabinets that fit from any big-box store (ie: Lowes, Home Depot, etc. or Ikea). Any space that seems useless - isn't. Think "storage" for everything.
http://www.bing.com/images/search?q=attic+bedroom+storage&go=&qs=n&form=QBIR&pq=attic+bedroom+storage&sc=0-1&sp=-1&sk=#a

A cheaper way might be to building bookshelves and use pretty baskets to hold your various items or clothing in.

Since the stairs are in the middle of the room, maybe turn one half into the bed area and the other half into your study/lounge area.

You can purchase low to the floor chairs to give you head room and turn a coffee table into a desk if it's needed.

Consider keeping your bed close to the floor to make the whole space look roomier. Like the 3rd photo here:
http://www.houzz.com/ideabooks/1789888/list/20-of-the-Coziest-Bedrooms-on-Houzz

Make the bed comfy and put a cozy quilt or blanket on top. Add big pillows for color that can be used for seating when needed. Mount your lamps on the wall to be out of the way. Maybe incorporate at headboard with a shelf at the top, too.

I would consider keeping all your colors light - maybe most white and creams then use pops of color with pillows or miscellaneous items.

Hope this helps a bit and you are inspired. I wish you well!

Advice on buying new car from dealership?

ericwarren

Ok so to start things off I'm 18 years old. I'm in the military. I have a wife and no kids. Someone offered to buy my vehicle but I need to buy a new one before I sell it. I'm wanting to buy a fairly new vehicle from a dealership none specific. It doesn't necessarily have to be 2013. 2012,2011,2010 somewhere around that range. I know my credit is not fantastic. It's a high score but its new credit. So I know I can't get an awesome new Camaro without the monthly payment and insurance being way high. I am into muscle Cars in and trucks. My insurance payment as of right now with a 2013 Ford F-150 Ext Cab v6 Sport edition is 96$ a month.
So what I am asking is with these conditions. What would be a good price range be to look at for a vehicle that is a muscle car or a truck. Examples of vehicles I am into are Camaro,Charger,Challenger,Tundra,Frontier, any super duty Truck.
thanks for any advice

Answer
I am trying to understand what you are wanting information about.
Do you need a new vehicle or do you want one? There's a difference between the two. Are there things more important right now you should be worried about or is this what should be on your mind. When it comes to dealerships they always leave room to negotiate. Don't let them sell you sticker price. If they ever tell you that they will be losing money on a car from dropping a few hundred dollars then they are lying out their ass because they make huge profits.
I would personally go with a truck rather than a muscle car. Mainly because all the newer so called muscle cars are lacking on the muscle unless you get the fully upgraded completely built ones which are outrageous in price, and still only a little bit faster. Now days they are just designed for looks where as trucks are still functional, if not better than ever before and still reliable, domestic cars are lacking more and more in reliability.

Jennifer S

For those who have been there, whats good and whats bad? how are the rooms?

Answer
This is a wonderful vacation spot!!
Perfect location, helpful staff, across the street from the beach, beach goodies and a wagon available from the activity center, activities for adults and children!!
We had a one bedroom with a full kitchen and a fabulous view.
The location is also marvelous--walking distance to get to the Coaster to get to San Diego, minutes away to get to all kinds of shopping (Costco, outlet mall, restaurants, grocery store, pharmacy, etc...), and freeway close to many attractions--perfect!
The lobby area is also very welcoming with coffee, tea, and fruit for the guests.

BEAUTIFUL VIEW right off Carlsbad Blvd!

I celebrated an early Father's Day / Birthday here last weekend and fell in love with Carlsbad. We had a 1 bedroom, 1 bath condo. it comes with a full kitchen (fridge, stove, dish washer, cookware, silverware and glassware), and a patio facing the ocean. The VIEW from our room was AMAZING! the ocean was mysterious and deep blue, the sun was shiny and warm, the sea breeze was warm and welcoming - everything was so perfect!

The decor of the condo is a little out of date (e.g. pastel wall border stickers & mint color carpet). The bath tub is a little small. Wish there is more than 1 pool table because it is always taken. But these are minor problems and can be fixed easily.

The rate for a 1br / 1ba condo ranges from $239 ~ $359 per night.

I will definitely come back again for special occasions.
I stayed here for a nice get away while staying local. I had a two bedroom with a full kitchen and a little patio that faced the ocean. This is a real nice place. It has a club house, a gym, two pools (one for adults only) and a fun play area for kids that includes a pirate ship and a little water theme area.

It's located right across the 101 from the ocean, so beautiful views! There is no restaurant but since you have a kitchen you can drive across the I-5 to the Costco or down the road to the Ralph's. They also have a basket ball court, tennis courts, pool and ping pong table on the bottom floor.

The only reason this place didn't get a 5 star rating is because my unit was on the back end of the resort which is facing the Coaster train track (a little noisy) and we were situated right next to the club house which is used for weddings on the weekend. And yes, you guessed right, there was a wedding on the Sunday we checked in. It was a little loud.

I also hear that if you are a owner at this timeshare, you can rent the clubhouse for around $100 or $200! That is a steal! The Clubhouse faces the Ocean and the pool area. Nice location for a casual wedding.

So check on their nightly rates if you are coming to the area because this is a pretty good location. I called the front desk to get an idea of rates and I was told the nightly rate can range from $239 a night during spring and upwards of $300 during peak season. But considering this is for a 2bd/2bath, full kitchen, ocean view, that is pretty good. Across from the ocean, minutes from the freeway, one exit from the Carlsbad Outlet Mall and down the 101 from the quaint little town of Carlsbad.
I stayed here in July of 2009 with my two little girls, ages 3 and 6. We had a one bedroom condo, so they slept on the sleeper sofa and I got my own bed. While not luxurious, the accommodations were nice. Perfect for the beach. We had a great view of the ocean from our balcony and a fireplace in the living room. Every morning we would go down to the activity center and pick up a radio flyer wagon, fill it with towels, buckets, and shovels and head off to the beach. My six year old would pull my 3 year old in the wagon across the highway, which sounds scary, but there is a light so it's quite safe. The hotel had events like making snores and a poolside BBQ with live music, at little or no cost. They also offered inexpensive crafts for the kids ($1-$3), and my kids had a great time doing those. I would have come here again this year, but was unable to trade my timeshare, and this year we're at the Grand Pacific Palisades Resort, which is okay, but I prefer the Seapointe.

Romantic vacation idea for 5th Anniversary?

Leigh

I am trying to come up with ideas for our 5th wedding anniversary next year. We have two small kids but want to leave them home for a few days to have some time alone together. Any recommendations? We live in California but willing to travel pretty much anywhere. Thanks!

Answer
I was going to suggest CALI but since you live there my answer may not be appealing to you. I was going to suggest to you some of the popular dinner cruises that leave from San Diego. SD is a nice place to visit and spend time. If you're not from SAN DIEGO or live there, than you may want to check it out. I know a lot of people attend events in Cali especially from the midwest. It can also fit your budget. All you have to do is type in some keywords you'd like to know about San Diego in Yahoo! search and see what's appealing to you. Some of the yachts have ocean view rooms and they're private as well. I have actually been on a yacht with a whole room and dining room in it. When I say room, I mean bedroom and dining rooms=(smile) lol. I have also seen some sites that a musician can come and play music as well in a Piano Room. That mean that the room is described above but is equipped with a piano so someone on the staff can come and play music. I hope this is helpful. Take Care!!

how quickly did your child out-grow a bedroom theme?

miss Mama

i have 2 boys 3 and 1 years old. My youngest is still in a crib but in about 6 months we will move him into a big boy bed... anyway. i was thinking of doing a toy story theme in there big boy room, but i just wonder how long it will take until they get tired of it? how long did the theme in your childs room last?

Answer
I would say with your older child he will grow out of the toy story theme in a year or two.

I did a sports theme with my son, he stil has the same theme, I have added to it and changed a few things but it has lasted 6 years. He was really into dinasaurs from the ages 2-5 so he did have sports walls and decor but dinosaur bedding. When he moved into a big boy bed he got to pick the bedding.

My daughter is 4..she has "shabby shick" decor but chose dora sheets.

What do you think for a six yr old boy room dinosaurs, space,or Superman?

Q. We redo his bedroom theme every year, since it went to a big boys room from a nursery. First it was sports, then spider man, and now it is spongbob. we go all out new wall border, bed set, lamps, even buy new toys to put on the shelves to match. Well this year everytime we ask he changes. What do you think?

Answer
Wow you have a very luck y little boy!
I would suggest taking him to a store to look at the room decor and toys, maybe he can chose better if he can see/feel/touch all of the excitement.

Q. With interior finishing and decor. Thanks to whoever answers.

Answer
Is your front room stuck in the 80's? Does your house beg for a make over? Here are some tips on to save money and still get the look that you've always wanted.
Steps

1. Choose a style that you like (contemporary/modern, country, french country, victorian, etc)
2. Decide on a wall color to fit the whole look of the room. For victorian, a rosy pink, or an off-white, country can be anywhere from blue and yellow, to pink and white.
3. Select furniture. If your furniture already matches your style, then consider yourself lucky. If your furniture looks un-pleasant, purchase some slip covers, they come in all different styles and patterns.
4. Buy cheap rugs and draperies. You can save a lot of money by purchasing solid color rugs and draperies that are in your colors, and places like Wal-Mart carry them.
5. Find artwork. It isn't as expensive as you may think. You can buy from a retail or craft store, or photocopy images from a book, and frame them.
6. Alter the things you already have. A black lamp may not go with a nautical theme, so what do you do? Paint it, using spray paint or textured paints, found in arts and crafts stores. Clocks, coat racks, vases(using glass paint) shelves, bookends, even baskets and furniture can be transformed by paint.

Tips

* Toss some pillows and a blanket on your couch, to give your guests a comfortable feeling when they walk through your door.
* Want to paint a design, but dont have the painting gene? Use stencils and stamps instead.
* Choose lighting in harmony with the mood. Bright for modern and dim for classic.
* Use a higher number of weak light sources instead of a lesser number of strong light sources.

Warnings

* Inappropriate mix of lighting, colour and furniture can make a very costly combination look ugly.

Hope it helps.Good Luck!!

Okay, so it is not an emergency, sorry if the head line was too dramatic, I just did not know how to word it and be short, sweet, and to the point. I am in a sort of confused state of mind right now and I am looking for advice or any helpful suggestions.

First let me set the stage on what is going on...

I am almost 25, and just finished college. I have a good paying job and have made arrangements to move out of my parents' home, where I stayed, saving money while attending school and work. I move into my new place in a little over a month from now. This is not the first time I am moving out, I leased an apartment with my sister for a year when I turned 18. I will be moving out on my own this time and am in the middle of planning and making lists of items I need to buy for my new place. It is in this stage that I have found my problem.

All my life, I have slept in the smallest bedroom of the house. The room I have had since 1997 is 9 feet by 9 feet. The room in the apartment I shared with my sister was 8 feet by 8 feet. I own a twin bed, book shelf, desk, night stand, and a head board. All items were hand-me-downs. There is no real theme/style to my room. I like various things and have tidbits of those interest scattered around the room with no real order. It has been described by friends as a mixture of a little girl's, teenage boy's, and granny's room.

While making shopping lists and plans, I realized I have no idea how to decorate a home. I am moving from a 81 square foot room, with few furnishings and even fewer decor possibilities, into a 1500 square foot town house with no real sense of decor. I understand that decorating a home is a life long process that never stops and is not gained overnight, but I would at least would like an idea of what style I would like and dislike.

I know I could always ask my mother for help decorating, as she redecorates a room in the house once a month and it comes out looking magazine worthy, but I would like to do this one my own, with out her controlling were everything goes and how it looks, it is something I need to learn for myself.

How does one find out what styles to decorate with? Where do you find your inspiration and creativity? Is there a way to have it look stylish with out losing functionality? Any ideas, tips or suggestions that can help me? Any websites that can help as well? Anything else you think would be helpful in my situation?

Thank you for your time reading this, I know it was long, and I really appreciate it.
The place I am moving into has 2 bedrooms, 1 1/2 bathrooms, living room, dining room, den, kitchen, front and back patio section, and a garage. The rooms are big and spacious, the master bedroom alone is 15 feet by 14 feet, two and a half times my old room.

I have also looked on pinterest for decorating ideas but I will usually only like one or two things in a picture and none of them go together, or even be considered the same style.
There is also another thing that concerns me, what if once I buy everything and set it up, I hate it? I noticed that I change my mind and switch comforters out almost monthly. I have a purple/white cheetah/stripe print, a blue/gold sun/moon print, solid grey/black print, solid white down comforter, grey/multi color polka dot print, and a quit with rich colors and a black border. Most of my comforters are reversible and I take advantage of that and change it up a lot. I also have sheets in multiple fabrics and shades/prints.

Hi - You learn so many things through the years in school, but you seldom get education on decorating styles for the home. This short guide from About.com will steer you to quizzes and resources to help you determine your specific favorite decorating style.

Whatâs your interior design style? It can be hard to define. If youâre either country casual or city sleek, the difference is extreme and youâre easier to describe. But what about if you are transitional? And what does that even mean? Your interior design style is a hard thing to define, but having an understanding of your likes and dislikes, and knowing how to describe them, is step one to a successful new design plan. The following is a highly unscientific quiz that helps break down the major style elements in a design plan:
