Sims 2 Expansions & Stuff Packs?

I'm just getting into the Sims 2 on PC. That being said, I know that Expansions and Stuff packs are seperate. They don't go in any particular order and only require the base Sims 2 to run. However, in your experience, do certain stuff packs "compliment" expansion packs better than others?
I'm planning on expanding my Sims 2 game experience by buying one expansion followed by one stuff pack (and then another "set" once I start getting bored with what I'm playing). I'm doing it like that to make the experience last long.

From what I can tell, the only expansion and stuff pack that looks like it may go well together is the University and Teen Style. Are there any other pairings that you would recommend? I intend to go in the order of release for expansions (starting with University and working forward to most recent). Just leave your suggestions of which stuff pack works best with expansions (I have nightlife & celebration as a double deluxe).

Answer
I wouldn't say that any of the stuff packs compliment the Expansion packs directly. They are really more about how do you want to enhance your game the most.

Do you love the building of homes and community lots the best? Then Ikea stuff or Kitchen and Bath interior would be the best for you.

Do you love having parties and weddings? Then get Celebration stuff to get more items to make your parties great!

Do you love family interactions and playing with kids the best? Then get Family fun stuff to make your little girl a princess or a mermaid! (It's just a costume not a real mermaid!)

Is making outfits and dressing up your sims you favorite part? Then Glamour life or H&M stuff is probably for you.

Do you love the holidays the best and want your sims to get visits from Santa? Then get the Happy Holidays stuff.

Do you love the teen years and want to be able to express your teens personality in their bedroom and clothes? Get Teen Style stuff.

creating family with story?

I love playing the sims 3 game but I am starting to get bored with my familes
Can someone help me create a new 1???
Does anyone have a good idea for a family that I could create and play?
Something that would be fun to play! Give me the family members names, ages, and personality's. Also please give me a good background story on the family.

Answer
There are so many different types of families you can create!!

Here are some ideas, I have played these families before and they were all very fun:

- Rich: use the motherlode cheat, or get your sims a very good job, and buy them a large home with all sorts of extravagant items. Allow them to live a life of luxury.

-Poor: although it doesn't sound fun, this was a good challenge! Move your family into a smaller home, and only buy the basic items (bed, bathroom, kitchen, etc.) Make sure all adults and teens have jobs, so the family can afford basic needs. As you continue working, you will slowly be able to allow your sims to have more... stuff, for lack of a better word.

-Eco friendly: I love playing this type of family. However this will only work if you have ambitions. Assuming you do, you can play this. Don't buy your family a dryer for the washing machine, instead give them an outdoor clothes line. Don't take baths, take showers. Buy a solar panel. Do NOT give them a car, give them bikes. Also, walking gives them a positive moodlet. Carpooling to work is also good for their moods. Never allow them to drive to work themselves. Taxis are also bad for their moods. Buy them a recycling bin. Give their house a modern look, with lots of windows and sleek furnishings.

-Traveling family: If you have World Adventures, this can be a fun family to play. Take the family on lots of trips. Make them do different activities, and explore. Take them on lots of trips to each of the possible vacation destinations- France, Egypt, and China.

-Family oriented: This is one of my favourites to play. A family with lots of kids can be difficult, but it's so fun! Usually, I start out by making a young couple and one toddler. Then I move them into an average home (3 bedrooms approximately). Then I wait until their lifetime happiness is high enough that I can buy the fertility treatment. After that, I usually have a set of twins or triplets, leaving you with 3 or 4 kids (the maximum is 6.) You can also play it up a little- have large age gaps between your kids, or small ones. You can make your home kid friendly- lots of fun bedrooms for the kids, a playroom, and lots of activities for them to do while at home. Supply them with bikes so they can go to friends houses, the park, or the pool. Provide them with a fun backyard- a pool, play equipment, a sprinkler, trampoline, and much more! Something I like to do when I have kids is make them share a room. I just find it so cute :) One thing to watch for with these families is money. Most people can afford 1 or 2 kids, but 6 kids is going to cost a lot of money. Make sure you have a good job before having many kids, so you can afford to pay for their bedroom furniture, toys, outdoor activities, and everything else too. Another thing I sometimes do with these families is have one of the parents as a stay at home mom or dad, so you have someone taking care of the children, and someone making the money to provide for everyone!

There are WAY more families you could make, but these are just some fun ones I like :)
Plus, I didn't really want to have to write a description for any other ones lol.
Hope you like my ideas!
Have fun! :)

I want a modern room and I am thinking about a lime green accent wall, and the rest white, white trim, hardwood flooring, and hot pink and bright blue to accent. What do you think?

Answer
You might want to have a little green tint (barely visible) in the same tone as the lime in the white paint for the walls to pull it together. Keep the trim bright white and maybe an icy blue tint in the ceiling. I'm not sure about the blue AND pink - I would go with either blue OR Hot Pink. It will have a crisper look if there isn't too many different main/accent colors. What about a tropical theme? It sounds as though you like color. With the tropical theme, you can have a few main colors and lots of little punches of many colors. That would work best with your lime and blue, but I would go more with a brighter pale shade of blue with this.

what do you think about decorating a bedroom in black and white?

Lexi

I saw this article about decorating a bedroom in black and white. I'm thinking about doing it but am not sure. This is the article: http://www.roomdecoratingideas.net/black-and-white-bedroom-decorating-ideas.php

What do you think?
<a href=http://www.roomdecoratingideas.net/black-and-white-bedroom-decorating-ideas.php>Black and white decorating ideas</a>

Answer
I agree with Isis. Black-and-white bedrooms can look gorgeous and sophisticated, especially if you bring in another accent colour like fuscia pink or rich purple, plum, or teal. This would also look great with a classic, subtle animal print maybe on the bedding or curtains, if you're that sort of girl! A chandelier or some other time of opulent lighting, a gorgeous, fluffy rug and your room will look spectacular! Have fun!

I've been wanting to jazz up my bedroom for ages now but I never have any money to go buy things that cost way more then they're worth. So if you have any DIY ideas or know of any DIY blogs please comment. I love making things and doing a bit of crafts. *side note* I love the gypsy style. If it has bright colours, bells or ribbons I'm all over it.

Answer
if i were u,i would splash paint all over my wall but sadly, that could be dangerous as there is no guarantee that it will turn out well.

what you COULD do is get ordinary paint, normal furniture and paint it all colourful. try out red, white and pink roses like this:
http://img3.etsystatic.com/014/0/6313612/il_340x270.411078891_qnv1.jpg
or you could try this:

hope you're a good artist... :)

it would do well to paint your room a bright pink and add some brown to reduce the girly-girl effect and it's time you bought some junk jewellery to display in your room.

all the best!!!! hope u have fun...

I would like to decorate my bedroom in orange and gold decor. But, I am having trouble finding bedding. I've search many stores (Target, Bed,Bath & Beyond, etc.). Please help!

Answer
You could use the orange side of this and have a tailor sow on some gold ribbon:

Also look through this collection:

What color paint and curtains go with a brown and orange bedspread?

AllieP

I have an Anthology Spice bedspread from Linens N Things. I am trying to figure out how decorate the rest of my bedroom. I don't want to go the all brown route, but I want to keep things pretty romantic and calming.

Answer
I've found a picture of the bedspread:

http://www.outblush.com/women/home/bed-bath/anthology-spice-comforter-set/

..and in the room they've kept the walls white and complemented the orange with olive green which does look very calm and romantic, and gives the room an exotic, spicy touch.

Here's some more inspiration if you like that idea:

Or you could try blue. Blue and Orange lie opposite each other on the colour wheel, so they complement each other very well:

Or maybe you could use cream and different shades of yellow and orange for a warm scheme:

ASk them what colors they like in each room and what is there favorite toy or animal what hey are into and you can get there old clothes and make pillows, add a favor it shirt or outfit sewn on the bed spread pain their furniture. Sheets make great curtains and can cover and old chair, top of a toy box. with 2 sided tape you can take that cute animal or character cut it out of the okd sheet or pajama add it to the wall. 2 sided tapethey have fabric glue or tape for material. Some old wooden toys can be screwed to a board and made a jama hanger or coat.

Where do people with super simple rooms and furniture keep their knickknacks?

012victory

I honestly want a super simple room. You know, just a bed... a bookshelf.... a dresser... a night table...
That would be pretty much it.
But where do people put their office supplies? I've seen many rooms as I went house tours. A LOT, if not all, had NO DESKS. Even if you're not a student, where do you keep those little things? A scissor, paperclips? erasers? Pencils? Coins? An exercise ball?
You know;.. those little things. I have a BUNCH of wallets, phone cases, some face masks, my dog's chew toy, random shopping bags.
What I'm talking about is... you know like in the movies, those rich houses in new york. Maybe like a huge open studio room. I love how it's all pretty much simple. But where do they keep their knickknacks!
I have so much crap....
I want to keep my room simple and clean but I need this huge dresser drawer thing to put all my crap in...

Answer
People who have collected several items do not have to display them all at once.
Think up on the wall storage for part of your collections.
Hang the shopping bags up in the closet if they are being used.If not, you cam frame them, one at a tome and use them to decorate your walls.

Q. I have a king sized bed with a mahogany headboard. I'm not great on decor so I really don't know what to do. Any help would be great. And what about bed spreads and curtains? Any suggestions on color schemes for those?

Answer
Your room is so neutral you can do about anything. It's the black dress thing anything goes with black and you can dress it up or down. So you need to find your style.

Mahogany is very traditional let me throw a few ideas at you and see what works. Sometimes the wisest thing to do is get a solid ivory set and then add accents in throws, vases and pillows that you can alter at will.

This has masculine old english undertones with a bit of a modern lean http://www1.macys.com/catalog/product/index.ognc?ID=478180&CategoryID=7502

This is very traditional and the Burgundy is a great undertone on the mahogany http://www1.macys.com/catalog/product/index.ognc?ID=411086&CategoryID=7502

This is soft and traditional and the green would go nicely in the room earth tones are very soothing bamboo shades and cream terracotta bowls and vases http://www1.macys.com/catalog/product/index.ognc?ID=464604&CategoryID=7502&LinkType=

This is sexier and more feminine the sea blue/green is spa like http://www1.macys.com/catalog/product/index.ognc?ID=326263&CategoryID=7502&LinkType= Bronze and copper tones as accents with sea glass will play it up nice.

If you can't decide and need a push in one direction go with the ivory set. http://quiltkrazy.com/product?p=641 And your accents to it and change it for the seasons. Go wil a soft taupe on the wall and you can take this anywhere from purple velvet to pale summer daisys.

Bedroom design ideas for a teenage girl?

BasicBrune

I am moving at the end of the month and I get to do my room over, I love the color purple and would like to paint my walls that color but I need some ideas what could I put on the wall. I'm putting some pictures up of my friends and family and hopefully white Christmas lights. If you have any ideas please let me know! Thanks.

Answer
purple is a great color but you want a bright purple verses a dark purple

I think I would put some paint clip colors on the wall and you could look at different colors in the light and dark...you can get the free color paint strips at lowes or home depot..on of them have the Disney colors which give you the accent colors and that makes it easy

you need a wall color and then I would keep the ceiling and baseboards white to not close in the room

less is best, so it is clean

enlarged photos 8x10 framed in black and using black as an accent color would look sharp mature and perfect in any décor color later

but pets and family and friends all could be a wall

a wall with framed certificates you earned

no poster they make the room look cheap

a bed a night stand and lamp and desk and extra lighting..

around the desk a memo board and calendar...

no dresser they take up to much space and hold junk..hang everything in the closet and use baskets on a shelf..

a fake ficus tree with little lights and a timer work well for always having lights on when you come in at dark

a starburst chain is fun to make and looks cool draped on the tree or around your room

origami balloons over the lights

How to "wallpaper" my room with posters?

Jess

I love the look of magazine pages/posters/photos all collaged on the wall of a room (something like http://homemu.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/10/Bedroom-Girl-Posters.jpg or http://web.cn.edu/cncad/images/collage_wall.jpg). I would use blue tack/adhesive strips except that I have some large posters hanging up now, some using blue tack and others using adhesive strips, and they all fall down after a few days. It's driving me insane. I looked it up and it seems that the way to go is glue, except that my parents won't let me do anything to the walls that is permanent. Is there any strong, non-permanent substitute that will allow me to still layer my posters in creative ways? (ie, not picture frames) I'm considering thumbtacks. Is that a viable option?

Thanks so much in advance!

Answer
i have something like that on my wall. i used paper glue to stick the posters together and then used double sided scotch tape to glue it to the wall

Answer
The Teddy Duncan bed is a white frame platform bed (no headboard) placed on an oversized two stair deck with storage beneath. This low deck would be constructed like any outdoor patio deck, using a height requiring only four steps from ground to elevated deck surface.

What ideas are good decor ideas for a teen girls bedroom?

kids room decor modern
on more traditional childs room, but still incredibly lovely.
kids room decor modern image

JeSSiCa

I am getting bored with my old bold green room, I am looking for a newer, cheap, and modern look.

Answer
A lot depends on what the girls like. Are they into sports or still in the girly look? It is always a good idea to have a place for makeup and desks for working so can you find a place to work them in? Might even have bunk beds to be able to get more floor space for desk. If you can do 2 desks so each girl has their own area, they can double as computer and homework place and also makeup spot. but each girl needs her own. Maybe even check out dorms and build it more like a college dorm. There they have 2 twin beds and then usually 2 desks, one for each and a closet each. That is about all that goes in a room. A book shelf or even a hutch over the desk is good to put keepsakes and books and supplies. You may be able to pick up desks and huth at a consignment store or a thrift store. I got mine there at the senior center thrift store. You might be able to let them share a printer if the desks are side by side or you have a wireless printer (wireless not in electric but in connection to computer. If girls are going to collee, as they near it you might consider a laptop for each. Some families like to keep the computer in a family area rather than bedrooms though because of the stuff on the internet and they can monitor them.

As to colors, you can keep walls neutral and decoraete using posters or prints. No more princess stuff for teens, but do include fluffy pillows for the beds. If there is space, separate rooms is nice for teir friends to visit.

You can even do a diagonal line across two opposing walls and paint one side one color and one use the diagonal lines to divide the colors and the colors extend for their side only. Then soften it with curtains that pick up both colors and also using posters or framed prints on the walls to break it up. Can do the same with neutral walls. There are also stencils you can put around the top of a room. I did some roses and purple star flwoers with green leaves and it was like an arbor almost and the kids called the room the rose room or the princess room as they felt like princesses in there. But walls were white. I had spreads with big red peonies that almost looked like roses and it had purple star flowers and green leaves so the roses which were very full, looked almost like the spreads and I used red and purple and green in the room. The carpet was even white and I used wool oriental rugs by the bed and a stained glass lamp shade with roses and a Grecian girl brass base. Had to call it the rose room when any of the fewer boys ame to stay. Or let the girls stay there and the boys could stay on sofa or in the big blue big chairwith ottoman. Unfortunaately we have downsized now and don't have all the space we did then as we went to a small cottage and a mobile home. But you might find a stencil the girls like and put it on the walls, either in random patterns or as a border at the top or even dropped down a bit as mine was. I did the stencils around and then did just the roses and no star flowers about every 3rd one above it as it needed soemthing else. I hope I have photos someplace. I haven't caught up with photos since they went into storage.

Good luck in finding something lovely and feminine and yet very practical for the girls.

How can I decorate this room without spending a lot of money?

Jill

In my house, I have this back room where most of the kids hang out. It has a lot of windows and it's a good size room. The only thing is it's kind of boring. I only have girls in my family. So no boyish decorations. I don't want a really bright colored wall but something colorful with bright, modern furniture. How can I decorate this room without spending loads of money?

Answer
Ikea sounds like the best option for you. If you don't have an Ikea in you area you may find Home Goods to be a good and inexpensive place to shop. Of course, nothing beats thrift stores or second hand shops. With some elbow grease and the time to look through the junk to find the good stuff, it could all be worth it in the end.

As for decor, think a sofa, some floor cushions, light airy colors with stark white furniture and pops of bright colored accents.

So Im a teenager and im moving to a new house, and the walls are cement, etc. everything is ready we just have to choose a color or colors to paint my room. The bed, desk and the basic furniture are all black (should i change it to white?) Anyways, i want to paint my room with lots of colors, i want to make it very colorful, like one wall purple, one blue, pink, yellow, gray, etc. I need some ideas on what colors to choose.... And if u have any pictures of rooms please put the link.
Thanks!

Answer
Best to paint one wall in your fave color as your accent wall and the remaining walls a bright color. Then add colorful decor. Too many bold colored walls can make a room look child-like. -wish I knew if you were a guy or girl ?

For ex. an aqua room with purple accent wall and black furniture

Place your bed on the purple accent wall http://www.pampai.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/10/Dazzling-purple-and-turquoise-bedroom-with-white-vinyl-wall-sticker-424x450.jpg

Easy and inexpensive to make one by wrapping fabric to the back of a corkboard and staple in place. http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/10159457/ -cut fabric 2" larger
You can buy 1/2 yard (18x45") of colorful fabric at walmart for $3 in tons of different patterns/designs. for ex. http://www.etsy.com/search?q=joel%20dewberry%20bundle&view_type=gallery&ship_to=ZZ&min=0&max=0

Does anyone know of any cute room ideas?

I am going to be thirteen and I want to change my room. No pink or brown please. My favorite colors are purple and green. I have a lot of pictures so maybe you can find something that has a cork board? Idk really. i'm pretty open to any ideas.

How did you become (financially)independent from your parents? And at what age?

kids bedroom sets cars

kids bedroom sets cars image

Rosemary

I love my parents, but I need a job a car and an apartment to move out ASAP. I'm a college student and I'm wondering which kind of job I can get to be able to sustain myself, and which car options are most inexpensive, and how I can get the cheapest living space.

But I'm wondering how other people did it and at what age so that I can have an idea of what my options are :)

Thanks!

Answer
I was 18. I had worked since 14, and had saved up a ton of money. At 17, I got a job at CVS that paid a little more, and I worked like 30 a hours a week while in school, I graduated a month later. I moved out the week after I was 18, however I was a foster kid, I had no choice really, but was excited for this.

In college, that next fall I got promoted and earned 11/hr while working, I had a 1 bedroom apt for 600 a month. It was tough to find someone to even rent to me as I was so young, but I found someone on the 5th try. I had to work 40 hours a week to keep my health insurance and to be able to afford living on my own, and I had to take atleast 12 credit hours a semester to keep my Pell Grant. It was tough but doable. I didn't hve the cable, the smart phone, I only had rent, electricity, car insurance, cell phone, then food and supplies. I went to school from 8-12ish then work from 2:10:30pm, after that I would study some & go to bed. I worked Mon-Fri so on Sat and Sun were full days to rest, work on long term projects, even party some.

The biggest expenses were at the beginning, it was outrageous, expect to have ATLEAST 5-7 grand saved before you do this. This is the most important part.
When I moved out I spend 1800 on first rent and security
-2000-2500 on all furniture (living room set, mattress, kitchen tsable/chairs, bed, coffee table, lamp, etc etc) 2500 is extremely cheap for this, I got good deals. Do not buy used if there is not a hard surface- bed bugs are terrible
-1000 on household supplies( towels, bedding, silverware, cups, pots, pans, blender, microwave, etc etc)
-500-600 on first grocery trip as you need everything on top of the regular stuff (think things that last long- mustard, ketchup, foil, ceran, sugar, salt, etc, you're starting as a blank slate)

Cheap Insulation for an Apartment wall that not too hard to put up or take down down besides draperies?

marlen4000

I live an apartment and cannot put in permanent insulation. My bedroom is on the right on the side of the street and long driveway where many cars pass by. It's also where people front door is so I get lost of noise. Please help me.

Answer
Several ideas:
Cloth of any type will deaden sound; the fluffier the better. You could tack up some old comforters. You could use carpet padding. You could find a furniture store or warehouse that throws away styrofoam sheets and use that.

I would go with the carpet padding. If you hang it vertically you could staple it up with a minimum of holes, then cover it with cheap flat sheets for better aesthetic appeal. Walmart sells reasonably priced sheets individually packaged, and you can get the carpet padding from a discount carpet dealer.

I would also recommend getting a white noise machine. My husband used one for years when he worked midnight shift. It really helped deaden the neighborhood noises and allowed him to sleep through lawnmowers, kids , barking dogs, etc. He liked the ocean wave setting. Here's an example of a noise machine:

I am planning a Japanese themed bedroom and i need some help. What will i need?

I am a teenage boy looking for some themes for my room to be. I am moving in a couple months. I was wondering what i needed for a Japanese style bedroom. Like what color walls, type of door, flooring, furniture, blinds for my window, any certain light fixture, and decor. I'm going for more of that traditional type but also modern. Thank you!

Answer
Start with some tatami mats for the floor.

As for the walls, the color is not particularly important, but you could add some wall scrolls with traditional style artwork on them. You'll find some here: http://www.jbox.com/category/234

Light fixtures in Japan tend to be very simple. Don't use anything too ornate.

For the doorway, you can use a door curtain if there is no door (many, but not all, Japanese homes have sliding interior doors, but you'll have to work with whatever you've got).

The furniture should be simple and functional. Again, nothing too ornate.
Contrary to popular belief, Japanese people do use beds, just like in the West, so don't worry about having to find a futon.

As for decor, it really depends on your taste. Traditional things like lucky cats are always good.

How do create a decorative divider between 2 rooms without a wall?

Darlene

In a single apt. rm, I want to put up something (inexpensive) to show a division between the bedroom section and the living room. It has a open wood frame about 10 ft long. Something pretty.

Answer
I think your best choice is a folding Soji screen. You can get these in tradidional Japanese design or any modern or classical design. You can actually get them on wheels too.
It's the perfect way to add division, privacy as well as beutiful decor to any room.

here are some examples:

How can I make my room cuter with common household items?

Q. I am trying to get lots of DIY tips and things to decorate my room, but I have no money! I'm a teen girl with a pink and purple bedroom, and a bunk bed, if that helps for decor ideas.

THANKS!

Answer
1. Hang some pictures or photos on your walls in cheap frames. If you group 3 - 8 frames together it can look very nice.

2. A vase of flowers or a small pot plant can add something cute to any room.

3. A new cushion or bed sheets can also make the room look nice.

4. Display your books etc on a nice set of shelves or a book case.

If you have a look on some home decorating web sites for bedroom ideas I am sure you will get some nice ideas to use. Good luck :)

Here are 2 web sites I love looking at:

How do I become more girly girl?

Q. I have been interested in becoming more feminine in appearance since I was a little girl but have had no close female family members to guide me in my pursuit. I'm looking for advice in clothes, makeup, bedroom decor, etc. I have blue eyes, a cool skin undertone, dark brown hair (I dyed it a ash blonde/strawberry blonde color, but my roots are still dark brown) which is in a pixie cut. I have a hard time determining by body type. I do have a bust, but I also carry some weight in my thighs (not my hips), butt, and stomach. I have a defined waist, so I might be an hourglass, but I'm honestly confused. I know that I'm not pear, athletic, tall, or petite. I am short though, at 5' 1 1/2". I have a round face.
I'm really knowledgeable about skincare, but I have an issue with sticking to the routine.
I usually got up 5 minutes before the bus came in the morning last year. Any recommended time frame to get ready for the day? I'm looking for a minimal commitment morning routine (one of the reasons I have a pixie cut, I had no idea what to do with my long hair). I'm also very committed to my academic work and extracurriculars, and I have a small budget. I work during the summers, but it's minimum wage and a 4 hour shift, and it's likely I'll only be working Sundays if at all during the school year.
I've tried eyeliner a few times and I'm not a fan.
I'm in the process of redoing my room and I've just pained it a turquoise color. I looking into getting a new bedspread sheets. I'm particularly attracted to the purple set at VS Pink, but do I need a duvet AND a comforter? Can't I just get a comforter and everything else or will it look weird without a duvet?
I don't hate the color pink, but I much prefer blue and purple, and I'm not really into the girly stereotype behavior in terms of putting chihuahuas in over sized purses or wearing/owning everything pink or saying "like" every other word or acting snobby and rude.
What kind of stores could I get one time splurge clothes every once in a while (note: do not mention A&F or Hollister, I'm boycotting from that company due to the CEO's and some of his employees comments that I find offensive and promoting stupidity, I have nothing against people who wear A&F clothes)? I like wearing skirts and I also would love to start wearing a dress every once in a while for school (something simple, knee length, either a solid color or polka dots). I like the preppy style of dressing, so I would like to wear knee high socks, button-up shirts and blouses. I have a pair of mid-rise black skinny jeans from Levi's and I love them. I know that low-rise jeans do not look flattering on me and are often uncomfortable to wear, and I'm weary of light washed jeans. I would love to wear acid washed jeans (I also like being retro). What other kinds of jeans (boot cut, straight leg? I don't like flares) could I wear? I've always wanted to get a pair of jeans from AE, so is there any from there that I must get? I had a pair of flats last year and I really loved them. I also wore wedges sometimes and I liked that. I got a pair of moccasin loafers on sale from an outlet Bass and I love those. I want to get a utilitarian purse that still looks cute and carries everything I need throughout the day. What kind of stuff would I need to put in there (floss, gum, sanitizer, wallet, travel sized lotions/mists/deodorant, nail file[I also need help with how you do your own manicure], water bottle)? What kind of school supplies could be updated with girly prints? Binders, folders, notebooks, pens, pencil cases, etc.?
I also want to work out more. I have a good body image, but I want to get into the habit of working out sometime before college so I can stay healthy. I'm going to be doing cheer leading, possibly competitive cheer, and definitely track (I'm a thrower). I live in a place where it's cold, rainy, and overcast for most of the year, so jogging isn't always an option. I just signed up for a month of gym membership and I do like the elliptical, and I'm looking forward to weightlifting again.

Answer
Okay girl lets do this head to toe.
1) wax your eyebrows of you have not yet. Eyebrows frame your face and make a HUGE difference.
2) grow out your hair. Guys like girls with long hair, and short haired girls may be associated with lesbians. You can easily find ways to to your hair easily on YouTube. I recommend stilababe09 and macbarbie07
3) speaking of youtubers, start watching beauty gurus to learn beauty and style tips and keep up with trends
4) curl your lashes and wear mascara. I recommend Maybelline Volume Express (Target, $5)
5) easy eyeshadow that looks good on everyone is to just apply a sparkly champagne color on your eyelid.
6) lips. A simple tinted lip balm will work wonders. I recommend Maybelline babylips (target, $3)
7) foundation is not really necessary, concealer and some powder can work
8) wear perfume or body splashes. Bath and body works has cheap, high quality body splashes
9) for clothes, I would recommend H&M, brandy Melville, forever 21, and topshop. Topshop is especially good for what you seem to be wanting
10) unless you are 20 or over, stop wearing ballet flats unless you can REALLY pull them off. I would recommend strappy sandals, Sperry's, Toms, Minnetonka Moccasins, and pretty colored Nike Free Runs
11) whiten your teeth with crest white strips
12) for hip room decor, check out Urban Outfitters or Target
13) develop a style of your own that people can specifically id you by
14) I would recommend getting a down comforter and a duvet to go over it. This way, you always have a good quality comforter and can just change the duvet when u please. It's also easier for cleaning.
15) when decorating your room, choose one thing to be the focal point of the room and pick decorations and color themes accordingly
16) for jean fits, I would recommend boot cut. Avoid straight legged. AE has good jeans, but they stretch throughout the day. Hollister has the best jeans in my opinion.
17) hobo bags are all the rage with girls. In mine, I keep a Vera Bradley wallet, blotting papers, some makeup, lip balm, hand lotion, a Luna bar, a water bottle, gum, a Pinch Provions Minimergency Kit, etc.
18) I give myself an hour in the morning, but then again my hair goes almost to my waist.
19) for working out, try to find a place to run even if it is a treadmill. Running slims you down everywhere while still building muscle.
20) also try to eat healthier
21) it doesn't matter what school supplies you have.

That's all!!!! Hope this helps!!!! Good luck girly!! Oh and also use emojis when you textðððð

You might have fun with removable wall decals. I was surprised at how fun and easy they were to put up and take down. Not that expensive either. Just search online for "removable wall decals" and you'll find MANY to choose from. I am a young adult and am moving into my first apartment in a couple weeks. The color scheme will be strictly black, white, and red. I am a fan of modern looks, while mixing timeless items in as well. I will be living in a studio, so too much furniture will not be necessary.

Does anyone know where I can find inspiration or rooms that look like what I just described? Thanks in advance.

bedroom painting and decorating ideas?!?!?

S

hi, im a 14 year old girl and sometime (relatively) soon im going to completely re-do my bedroom. the last time i was allowed to paint my room i was little and i decided to paint it multicolored. BIG mistake. now im stuck with walls that are painted green-yellow-purple-yellow, and i hate it.

also, my room is small and has a small window which, because the way our house faces, gets hardly any sunlight.

i know i should pick to paint my room a light/bright color because it will reflect light better but i have no idea what color(s) to pick,

and another thing that is making it hard for me to pick a color scheme is that when i was younger my family always gave me photos and canvas art for my room, because im an "art-sy" person. now i have a rainbow of photos and such that i love and want to keep but that i cant quite loop into one color scheme.

i want to keep my room simple so it will appear bigger and less cluttered (all the knickknacks on my dressers don't help with that either) but i cant decide on how to paint it or how to loop all the colors in my room together.

another unhelpful factor, i have a rainbow bedspread. a rainbow, it was given to me a few years ago, i think its from target..... here's a link to a similar one (except the stripes go the other direction)
http://www.google.com/imgres?hl=en&sa=X&tbo=d&biw=1600&bih=748&tbm=isch&tbnid=YmKTnQbUlHdiXM:&imgrefurl=http://kidsthemebedrooms.com/stripes/squares-bedrooms-stripes-decor.html&docid=7Dt-_a-7z-bzmM&imgurl=http://kidsthemebedrooms.com/stripes/rainbow-stripes-decorating-ideas-bgrnd1.jpg&w=173&h=164&ei=R9_cUJSrLOaw2QWGm4GQBw&zoom=1&iact=rc&dur=496&sig=107090310410942366608&page=1&tbnh=131&tbnw=138&start=0&ndsp=36&ved=1t:429,r:9,s:0,i:118&tx=66&ty=69

so how do you think i should paint my walls?
how should i find a color theme within what i already have?
how do i de-clutter my room?

thanks so much for any ideas/methods, any help is much needed and appreciated! also, happy holidays!

Answer
I suggest that you choose a warm color, which will make the room look smaller than a cool color would, but with a tiny window and little light, a cool color will probably be quite depressing. Horizontal lines will make the room seem more spacious. You could paint a stripe, or put up a border, or find a more creative way to introduce horizontal elements. Such as a shorter stripe upon which the pictures are hung, who knows? Horizontal wavy lines? If it doesn't work out, you will have leftover base color that you can use to paint over it later. If you want a very colorful room, yellow would be nice and go with that rainbow bedspread.

But if that's too loud for you, maybe off white and don't be so worried about "matching' everything. I do oil painting as a hobby, and if someone wanted to buy a painting from me and see if it "goes with" their color scheme, I'd tell them don't buy it and go get something at Walmart. Decorate with what you love. You don't have to coordinate everything. It might look funny to have modern art in a room decorated in 18th century style, for sure, but you can mix up color schemes and just do what you want. just group pix in a pleasing manner and enjoy them for what they are - art. Art museums make the walls white so the art is the star, but that's kinda harsh at home.

My husband and I turned his old house into a lake cabin, and the ceilings are only 7 feet high, so what I did there to make the room taller and larger was to have the ceiling white come down onto the walls, paint the walls just a shade lighter than the bulky living room furniture we couldn't afford to replace, so the furniture visually receded into the walls, and rather than create a horizontal line and lower the ceiling, I make the border a bold wavy line, like ocean waves. I just eyeballed it. It is really different, and it WORKED, even though it's sure different. I'd always been "taught" to paint the walls light, but if you have dark furniture, it makes the room seem cluttered and small, so imo, it was better to match the color of the furniture, only lighter so the room wasn't too dark. The house had such limitations!

So for you, it's horizontal lines that you want, the opposite of the big problem that I had. So do some horizontal stripes, or arrange all your pictures in a horizontal stripe, or make sure you don't break up the horizontal lines of your bed or dresser with a tall bookshelf in between, etc. I've seen in picture books that horizontal lines on a throw rug work well, but that'll put you back a couple hundred bucks that you probably don't have.

It has to have purple and green because me and my sibling share the small room and she wants those colors. Please no girly ideas because I am a boy and she isn't girly.

Answer
Purple and green can be used as festive colors in a tropical themed bedroom. You might ask your parents to help you with a DIY tiki room theme. You can make many things yourself. Tropical flowers aren't girly. Think of the patterns on Hawaiian shirts. Think also of dried grassy fibers. Maybe your parents can get you an inexpensive rattan ottoman chairs and grassy rugs. You can add pineapple or surfer style lamps. You can decorate with seashells or anything that makes you think of the ocean. With your parents' permission, maybe you can look on Pinterest for beach bedroom decor ideas. If you can find better prices than world markets for coconut shells and paper umbrellas, that would be great too. You can also use the words such as tropical rainforest, parrots, and tiki to find more ideas. Are you proud of your sandals? Believe it or not some people decorate with a beach sandal theme.

I want to decorate my room any tips?

My room is pink and while its quite cute I really want to spice it up a bit! Please help, also if. Anyone has any cute ways to store or hold earrings and jewellery that would be amazing

Answer
Hi - why don't you add a touch of green - see here for some ideas - all depending what colour your walls and bed linen are at the moment - but you could paint a 'feature' wall i.e. the wall where your bed is in green and then to bring the green in to other things you could buy one or two cushions in the green and perhaps if you have a bedside lamp in your room - you could change the shade to green. Anyway have a look at some of these pictures to give you more ideas:

What do you need for a nursery?

Q. I'm writing a story about two teens (they're eighteen and married) and they have a baby at the end of their first year of college. What's needed for a nursery? And maybe give me some cute theme ideas? By the way, the baby is a girl.

Answer
You would usually have a crib , a changing table , some toys , soft toys , clothes in a wardrobe , crib mobiles , baby books , pictures on the wall .
Here are some theme ideas ( off a website )

â¼ Lady Bug Nursery

A popular baby girl nursery theme today is a lady bug nursery. You might want to begin by purchasing a crib set to use as a pattern to paint and decorate the room.

You can find stencils in lady bug designs, add posters, and even stick on lady bugs to complete the look. Even if you aren't an artist, you can project the image of a lady bug on the wall and paint it. Another great idea is to hire someone to do a mural of lady bugs playing in a garden or buzzing around some flowers .

â¼ Bugs and Bees

Your little darling will love being surrounded by whimsical bugs and bees. With so many bugs to choose from, you should have no problem choosing this theme. Bees, butterflies, caterpillars, and worms are popular choices, and they are easy to recreate on paintings and other wall art as well .

â¼ Celestial Themes

Help your little one fly off to dreamland with a celestial baby girl nursery theme. These themes can include planets, moons, stars, and even constellations. You can copy the pattern onto your ceiling, using pastels, whites, and blues. You should be able to find lamps, picture frames, and wall decorations in this theme as well.

Toile Designs
If you are looking for an elegant way to decorate your baby's nursery, you might want to consider a toile design for her room. Toile patterns may focus on red, white, pink, yellow, green, and even pastel blue colors.

â¼ Patchwork and Plaid

Patchwork or plaid designs make great baby girl nursery themes. It's easy to build off of either one of these patterns, choosing the main color and accent colors from the colors of the patchwork or plaid on a crib set, blanket, or comforter. You should be able to color match the crib set at local paint and hardware stores, such as Home Depot, Lowe's and Sherwin-Williams.

â¼ Frog Baby Girl Nursery Themes

Little girls are just as enamored of frogs as little boys, so don't overlook this great baby girl nursery theme! Choose from designs that only feature frogs to designs with lots of other friendly creatures, such as turtles, lizards, dragonflies, and even snakes.

â¼ Character Themes

Of course, character nursery themes are eternal favorites for parents and children. You can usually find lots of great accessories, and there are so many to choose from, including the following:

Hello Kitty
Precious Moments
Pooh's Portraits

Decorating a nursery for your new baby can be a fun and exciting experience. It will be the first place for your baby to dream, to experience, and to grow. Here are a few things to keep in mind:

Location. Calm surroundings are critical to a newborn's development. Avoid room's that are close to a busy street, where there could be more noise. Will the baby's room be on the same floor as your bedroom ? This makes it more convenient to monitor your baby. However, you can always opt for an audio or video monitor.

Time to decorate! Choosing a particular theme and design for your baby room depends on how much you want to spend, how much space you have, and whether it's a boy or a girl. To be safe, you can always go for gender-neutral colors such as greens, purples, and reds.

Choosing a theme. Now it's time to let your imagination run wild. To get some ideas, visit a few baby stores and check out different styles. They may even have example rooms set up that you can check out. Take a look at the following nursery themes to get a few ideas rolling.

Animals. This motif could include kittens, puppies, farm scenes, or teddy bears. This is a common theme that can easily be found in stores. You could purchase everything from the sheet and comforter set to coordinating wall hangings and wall paper.

Cartoon / TV Characters. The options are numerous here. Winnie the Pooh, Spiderman, Aladdin, Curious George, Bugs Bunny, Snoopy, and Peter Pan are just a few examples.

Noah's Ark. This a popular theme with plenty of designs to choose from. You can accessorize with animal pictures, a nursery lamp, bedding, and even a rocking chair.

Dolphins or other underwater scenes. This theme will add a cool, refreshing feeling to your new baby room. The cool colors will also be comforting for you baby. For decorating, you could use a Finding Nemo theme, sea-related wall hangings, sea shells, a border with waves, or even sea horses.

Crayons. Remember how much fun crayons use to be. Introduce your child to a new and creative world with this theme. You could use accents in the shape of hand prints or stencil of your choice. Place these on the walls, window frames, closet door, or even the lamp shade. Looking for the perfect paint. Crayola has come out with paints with their colors made specifically for the baby's room.

Whichever design you choose, use inexpensive stain-

What color should I paint my bedroom walls?

bedroom decor yellow walls
on Nursery Wall Decor Room Decorating Ideas
bedroom decor yellow walls image

Marie

Currently, they are a bright, vibrant yellow and it's kind of getting on my nerves. It doesn't suit me at all.

My furniture is of the color "light beech" I think, or a little more vibrant... So obviously, that combined with the bright yellow walls is just too much.
My bedding is a beautiful shade of dark, grayish blue. I have purple curtains but I'm wanting to change them to white. I have a dark purple rug, too. Probably won't be changing that anytime soon.

A little about me.. I'm introverted, nostalgic and tend to think too much about everything in life. I love to read and draw. I spend more of my time around animals than around people haha. I guess what I'm trying to say is I'm not the kind of person who should have like hot pink walls or something of that sort. Most of my time at home is spent in my bedroom, so I really want it to be a place I can feel like it's my own, if that makes any sense.

That's basically it. I don't want anything vibrant, or any really strong colors. I don't want anything too girly, either. Something calm, low-key and mature at the same time. I'm 20 but my room currently screams 14.

Any suggestions? Bonus points if you include a picture! :) thank you! I hope this wasn't too confusing or silly!

Answer
This blue would look wonderful http://2.lushome.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/05/blue-wall-paint-bedding-bedroom-decor-ideas.gif It adds a bit of color to the room, but it isn't overwhelming.

If you do go with color another color on the wall, I would definitely go with something in the pastel family.

Gray is also a wonderful option. It is versatile and your bedding will play off of it nicely.

Good luck! :)

I am currently designing my bedroom and need ideas.?

volleyball

I have a very tight budget, so DIY projects are definitely welcome. I have three light yellow walls and one light blue wall. It is a small bedroom-my furniture consists of a king sized bed, a dresser and a bookshelf (both of those are tall rather than wide-they take up less room that way).
I'm looking mainly for ideas of wall art. I don't have a headboard and was thinking of making one myself, but I don't know, since my room is already small it might make it appear smaller.
thanks!

Answer
you can get an 8' sheet of plywood, cover it with quilt batting on one side, stapled to the plywood on the other, and a few yards of a fabric that goes well with your other decor to cover the batting, again stapled to the other side. Lay longways on the floor behind the head of your bed for an instant, cheap headboard.
Another cheap idea for decor is to get a large canvas (oil painting type) and some colors you like, splash across the canvas and let dry. Instant art. Pretty cheap.
Make the most of the room you have with underbed storage bins.
