Websites if possible plz !

Answer
You could paint one wall, preferably the wall behind your bed a medium shade of purple, and hang up vinyl records on the wall. If your room is pretty small, try not to paint your walls dark colors, it makes your room seem smaller!

Or you can use some of these decals on your wall:
http://www.decaljunky.com/cart/c-66-dance.aspx
They're all dancing ones

Now, to get more of a "fashion" feel to your room, you can try adding mannequins! You can find a lot on ebay! Try Putting clothes on a rack and not in a closet, it adds more of a fashion vibe. A couch. Although it's kind of expensive if it will last a long time and its worth it.

Mirrors make a nice addition since it reflects light, and makes the room look bigger.
Cloose favorite colors and shapes. Colors should reflect your moods and personality. Different colors of shaped objects in the decor like clocks, picture frames, chairs, floral arrangements, help accent every room to the max.

I like rummage sales to pick out different objects that look interesting and make a conversation piece.

Old books stacked are sophisicated, old dishes used for candle holders or jewelry holders are very stylish.

I look for objects that I might be able to hang my jewelry on for part of my decor, hold a hat, hold a throw blanket for those chilly fall days, baskets for holding makeup, brushes, etc.

clear shoe holders hang on the back of your door for all of those quick to get items used every day. school items, hair items, makeup, under garmets, cleaners for facials, hair, or just bathing, perfumes, ....anything you can imagine!

Use flat plastic containers to put under the bed for extra blankets, or extra decorations to trade out sometimes to make the room look a bit different without spending over budget. However you decide, it has to be YOU! Have fun sweetie!

Now for the wall colors:

Purple and green are the opposite colors so its perfect combo. Add a hint of pink, blue or both to add that variety. Use the white and or silver as your accent colors. I would suggest to paint an accent wall. Have your two walls dedicated as your black & white movie style pictures. Use basic black frames for them. You can usually buy the frames for cheap if you stick with the plastic black ones. This will also draw the attention to the pic not the frame. You might want to use one horizontal stripe on two sides of the room to make it longer. Vertical to make it taller. Use a solid purple color comforter with plaid, square or flowery styled pillows

Best place for comforters for the color scheme you want are Walmart & Target. Black & white pics is target. For lamps and maybe some shelving, Bed Bath & Beyond.

Of course trying to figure out your room with out looking at it, Im only guessing here but if your walls are small by your entry door, add two long mirrors. If the window is opposite from your door, natural light will bounce from them and make the room appear larger. Also the mirrors can be written on with dry erase board markers could be used for msg's, reminders or important dates.
For your windows, drapes can be soft and sheer. One idea you can do is find sheer material to drape across and over the window. Another way is to find an inexpensive shower curtain, preferably sheer. maybe a white one, cut 4" of ribbon (fun and colorful maybe even feathery) tie around the holes of the shower curtain (leaving enough room for it to slide back and forth on the curtain rod.) glue on flowers or sequences. You will have your very own unique curtain.

Hope I helped,

themed kids rooms?

jes

my son is afraid to sleep in his room
his doctor suggested that we redecorate it
paint it and all that
im looking for different "themes"
or just painting ideas
id like to see some pictures of things that wouldnt be too hard or expensive....not a lot of money or a lot of talent
so if you know any good sites for ideas and pictures thatd be great thanks

Answer
I was on a budget when I did my son's room too! I went to walmart to buy primer and paint. Their paint is cheaper, but I've never had it crack or chip, and it's been up for years. After I painted, I went to Dollar Tree. In their handy-man section as I call it, they have all sorts of room decor stickers. They stay up no matter the temperature, and if he rips one off the wall, it won't ruin the paint and will go right back onto the wall. They're great! At my local Dollar Tree they have Winnie the Pooh, Barbie, Cinderella and other Disney princesses, Spiderman, Finding Nemo, etc. If they don't have something you'd like, then go to a different Dollar Tree. Walmart also has these stickers, they just aren't a dollar.

What are good decorating ideas for a teen girls bedroom?

Q. Ok, so I might be moving, and I would have my own room finally (after sharing a room with my sister for 13 years, I am 13) so this bedroom is like my dream bedroom that I always wanted. It has a window seat with storage underneath it, I have always wanted one and it has a double closet. (not a walk in closet but with a coat rack and a shelf on top) I think this room is like what I always have wanted. but what are some good colors and decorations? I like to be very neat (and im 13 *gasp*)

ideas anyone? thanks(:

Answer
I think you should takes your interests and make a room out of that.
For example, if you like ballet, make your bedroom look like a dance studio. Or if you like nature, make it look like a jungle or a garden. Be creative and choose a fun theme. If you aren't really into one certain thing, then pick a few colors that look really good together and make a room like that. Just have fun doing it, and make it say you!

(Here are some cool color combinations:)

*Aqua, Purple and Light Pink
*Lime Green, Bright Blue and Electric Orange
*Red, Black and White
*Pink, Pale Green and White
etc.

Teenage girl bedroom decorating ideas? ?

Q. My room looks like a 7 year old girls room and i need help with decorating ideas. I am 16 years old and i am preppy and love fashion. My room currently has off white walls with a pinky/purply accent wall. I have medium colour brown furniture and purple top curtains.

I want a new bed blanket and pillows and i want to make a color scheme that would go with pinky/purply wall and purple curtain tops. I CANT paint my room.

links would be great.
ALSO i live in canada, so if you can give me stores that are located in canada.

Answer
There are three themes that come to mind for me with pinky/purple colors: SW US and in particular New Mexico; sunsets over water; indigienous Guatamala, Bolivia, and Peru.

Your room sounds like it is already set up with a girly tone. You can update that feel with blue denim, blue jeans, and crochet/tatting style lace.

I think that plaids are on their way back in a stronger way. Maybe you can find some plaids (or stripes) that will take in some of the colors you have as light accents/slpash accents but lead the color scheme towards a blue or green. Plaids lend themselves more towards a preppy look.

Is there a way to change the curtains? used? something made? something made from used, re-purposed fabric? It sounds like the pinky/purply wall could be worked with on its own but, that the purple curtains re-affirm the wall color as being a pink and purple, little girl, theme.

Am I rich? My friends all say that I am :$?

Julia

I don't mean to brag, I just want an honest answer.
- I live in a 5400sqf house that overlooks a river valley and forest. It has 5 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms, and all bedrooms have walk-in closets. My bedroom furniture is from Restoration Hardware. The kitchen is pretty big with an 11' island, 2 sinks, and appliances all from GE monogram (4' wide fridge and stove, dishwasher, wine fridge, microwave). I have two fireplaces, one large 2-storey stone one in the family room, and another in the master bedroom. I also have a home gym, home theatre, library and a bar in the basement.
- the furniture is all from really nice and expensive stores
- I have 2 cats and 2 dogs
- the backyard has an outdoor kitchen, dining area, pool, vegetable garden, hot tub, outdoor stone fireplace, and cabana.
- both of my brothers play rep hockey, and I figure skate ($12000/year)
- I have $1100 figure skates and I get new ones every two years.
- I shop mainly at aritzia, fcuk, a&f, and scotch and soda.
- us three and my mom all have Canada Goose jackets
- my brother and I both have iPhone 4s, and my other brother has a blackberry.
- we all go to public school because our parents think it gives you a better education than private school.
- my dad has an iphone and an iPad, and we kids all have iPod touches. My mom has a blackberry.
- we go on vacations 2-3 times a year. In the summer usually to someone else's cottage or out west, during Christmas break we usually go skiing and visit family, and during march break we either go skiing, to Europe, or to the Carribean. We always stay in the nicest hotels and resorts.
- we often go to hockey games, baseball games, and concerts throughout the year
- we have three cars: a Lexus suv, a Lexus convertible, and a Honda pilot. My dad also has a Harley.
- my dad is a member of a really fancy yacht club.

Sorry, it does sound a little like I'm bragging, but all I'm looking for is an honest answer.

Answer
I would say upper middle class. Some of the things you have are stuff I have even though my family is in debt.

I have an iPhone 4S, I go on probably 3 or so vacations a year (although not at places like europe...), I have a 6 bedroom house, i used to go to private school...

but you also have stuff my family would NEVER afford. I vote upper middle class but it also depends on like your parents income (which is probably a good amount)

A matter of ethics, I think?

Nekai - RI

I have asked this in 'Parenting' but foudn this category afterwards.
Definitely a matter of ethics.

I'm not too sure where to ask this, I figured most parents would have an answer for this, though.

Here's the situation: my son's best friend (18 now) has been living with us for over a year. We're in Canada and Social Services has refused to help him because of an abuse allegation that has happened within his family, which has him being unable to receive financial support from the Gov if he is living in a home with any child under the age of 16. It's a huge battle in itself, already and we are still fighting it. When this boy came to live with us, my son was 15 (now going on 17). Even tho he is the one who was abused, Social Services feels he may be at risk to offend ... messed up. Completely. He's a good kid; still in school and working a job this summer now.

Recently his mother was forced to disclose that he no longer lives with her and is not collecting any money - I made sure she was cut off from everything possible when it came to support for a child as she was milking (and still does) the Gov for all she can. She is on a disability along with welfare - she is completely, mentally insane and unable to care for any of her three children. So with this change, the boy is being awarded some money that would have normally gone to his mother for him, but she always kept it. She figures, since she gave him the money in advance, that once this cheque comes that he should repay her. My opinion is that the money that she figures he owes her, SHOULD come to me. She has not given us ONE penny for supporting him. Ever. I buy shoes, school supplies, food, clothing, etc. She buys nothing.

I feel that I have been more than patient. This boy can have some of the money, but the majority should go to us is what my honest opinion is.
Chetco,

Agreed. Both boys get an allowance for chores, ie the dogs feeding, cleaning, horses, mowing the lawn, etc. They are not without and I've never had them feel they were, either.
Dividing and making one understand that keeping a portion of themoney is not profitable to me but 'helping' in his stay, is a difficult one. I have taken him shopping a few times to show him the cost of 'life' and had him do bills with me, as well. I would hope he'd understand :)
Thinking;
I appreciate the time you took to point out both sides of the situation.
The mother, is in fact, a heavy marijuana user - this is a small town and much is known about everyone. Her and her live-in are both collecting monies from the Gov but do not disclose that they live together. There is much more to the financial situation than I can even explain. She is not 'well off' by any means, but nor is she suffering. I have had her cut off from welfare recently as she was lying about other income and the man staying with her, and having her son in the home. Oh my, I could go on and on. But this money she does NOT need.
You have helped me see it from both sides. I do feel that my decision to have her son not repay is the right one. She is at no loss without that money.

Answer
I'd be straight up with the kid. He's old enough to understand that there are costs that arise simply because he lives with you. Extra food, electricity, laundry, wear and tear on the home etc...

I was a foster kid through my teenage years (and on and off prior to then). My foster parents had to buy a larger home so that I would have a bedroom, furniture, more wood to heat the basement (where my bedroom was) a bigger car, extra gas to pick me up from athletic events, money to participate in school activities etc.. Do I begrudge them the bits of money they "made" by having me there? HELL NO! Their expenses for me far outweighed the money they received - yes, they ended up with a bigger house and a newer car but *I* ended up being the beneficiary.

And years later my habit is much the same as theirs... we have a communal family style - yeah, it's counter to what the usual is in the US but it works for us... and helps everyone in the family.

What Would Be A Cool Bedroom Theme For An 12 Year Old Boy?

Adam G

Answer
When decorating a teen boy's bedroom the decor you decide upon will depend on the teen in question. But there are a number of different ideas that you can explore and these bedroom decorating ideas for a teenage boys space will hopefully produce a room that they will enjoy.

Color

It is a good idea to paint the walls of your teen's room in deep or vibrant colours (such as purple or blue) and then use lighter coloured furniture which will provide accent to the walls.

Wall Art and Shelving

Normally the wall art you should be looking for to decorate a teen boy's room is murals with a sports theme or motor sport theme. Look at very modern shelving in order to display any trophies that they may have on them.

Bedding
When choosing the bedding for your teen boys bedroom is to go with the flow and use that which links in to the overall theme of the room.

For example if you teens room is based on a surf theme then you could paint the walls in an ocean blue colour and then cover them with surf and surfer murals. There are plenty of places where you can purchase bedding that will perfectly match the theme that they have.

Or why not go for a solid colour theme to the room and use other colours in small amounts which will enhance the overall design of the room.

Study Area

When decorating your teen's bedroom include an area for them to study. Each teen will have a different way in which they study and there are many types of different tables available which will suit your particular teens study needs.

Lastly but by no means least, when you are looking at bedroom decorating ideas for teenage boys then you should wherever possible involve them in the whole process. You should allow them to have a say as to what colours, theme and designs they want included in the decorating as well as what kind of furniture they would like to have.

I hope this was of some help!
Good Luck, ;-)

Suggestions On Re-Designing My Room?

Danny

I'm 15 years old and my room is where me and all my friends kick it, and lately it just seems too.... simple. I need suggestions on maybe what to add, where to move my stuff, what to get rid of, anything. I need to definitely keep the couch, and all the TV stuff. the desk can be taken out because i am getting a laptop next week but the TV used as a monitor has my Xbox usually hooked up to it, and I'm considering using it as a monitor for my new laptop so me and my friends can watch movies online on a larger screen. Anyway, i can put up posters, put in bean bags, whatever. Just as long as it looks really chill, and its fun to kick it. Also, I can't paint it any different colors. links to pics of my room below.

Answer
redesigning is easy if you know what you want for yourself, it seems you already know what you want to keep and what things you want to throw out, i would say that you keep the desk as the laptop cannot be left on bed or a chair or couch all day long, you will need to keep it someplace straight and clean away from mess, also you can keep your books and other things such as xbox on the desk and it will also help to keep the room clean

you can get bean bag chairs, they are really cool and are a big hit these days, you can get them in any matching colors you like, you can also get some nice posters of your favorite starts or even get to hang a guitar in your room if you own one or like to play with one, get some nice light shades to make sure the lighting is perfect in room when you study or watch tv with friends,

keep some nice cabinets or shleves in the room to keep the excesive baggage in, dont leave the mess lying around as it will spoil the bedroom look and make it look dragging istead of cool

I need to set off a flea bomb in 3 bedrooms 2 which are kid bedrooms. Any tips or suggestions?

Courtney

I only have carpet in my 3 bedrooms other floors are tile and laminate. Can I shut the doors to these bedrooms while bombing them? Does that make the rest of my house safe from cleaning? Do I need to remove curtains in the bedrooms-that I don't really want to wash? Do I need to remove play toys? Should I tape the closet doors? What about the mattress? I've never done this before and I really don't want to put my kids in harms way but either my daughter is allergic to the cat or she's allergic to fleas. Yes. I have found a few fleas but I know there could be more so I want to take every step to getting rid of what I don't see. The cat is now outside and stays there. Tips or suggestions are greatly appreciated!

Answer
Just follow the directions on the pack. Plan for an outing for about 4 hours, have the kids outside, set the bombs, close the doors and leave the house.

When you come home open all doors and windows then bring the kids in.

De flea the cat first

teen bedroom decorating?

Jackie

I am looking for any ideas on completely re-decorating my bedroom. No budget, I'm a girl into art and sport and fashion and like almost all colours. Any links are appreciated or just raw ideas :D

Also, I am looking for a new double bed. I am in need of links to stores online where I can look at a selection of beds and purchase one that can then be shipped to Sydney, Australia. The one store I have found success has been pottery barn but they won't sip heavy items to Australia. Please help me! :)
I have come up with some of my own ideas, but before I do anything I was looking for some input that's all...

Answer
Well, first of all, you should try websites like pbteen.com and ikea.com, they have great decor, bedspreads, curtains, rugs, etc. In cool patterns. Also Delias.com has really cool room stuff even though it's more of a clothing store.
After you've taken a look at those, you have to start thinking about color schemes. What color is your bedroom currently? Are you willing to repaint it? If you are, great, that means you can pick any colors. You can have up to three colors. Once you've figured out a color scheme, you can move to the fun stuff...
Now it's time to pick furniture! First, figure out what you're keeping in your bedroom and find out what you need to purchase. Just yesterday i purchased a queen bed from ATGstores.com. Their bedroom selection is wonderful! And if you like their page on facebook you'll get $20 off any item over $200! Other stores that are great are walmart.com, and target.com.
When you're finished surfing the internet, and have favorited the items you like, you can go back and purchase them if it's okay with your parents! Good luck! Hope i helped!

Bedroom decor online? list some stores please?

Q. i want to redo my room, and buy some new stuff for it online, any sites you recommend? please list some. i will be choosing best answer. <3

Answer
West Elm
Ikea

Bedroom Themes?

Q. I want to re-do my bedroom with some stylish new themes and can't really think of any. I want it to be a theme that you can find alot of cool stuff for thats not too expensive.
I was kinda thinking something with movies posters?? cuz i love alot of different movies but im really open to anything!

Answer
As our family has recently moved, I am decorating my new room in an ocean theme. We had taken a trip to California last fall and I fell in love with the ocean (even more so than I had every other time I had been out there.) We drove up the PCH (Pacific Coastal Highway), through Malibu and many other breathtaking places. When we reached our destination, my fondest memories are just of us sitting on the beach watching the waves crash onto shore. That is what I am going to attempt to recreate in my room, but I am still looking for ideas from others who have done this. Most other rooms I've seen have either underwater ocean themes (mostly kids rooms), or they do an ocean themed room with just solid wall colors. I want to create an ocean-like experience on at least one wall. You can usually pick up ocean-like nicknacks at garage sales or thrift stores.
My advice: Pick out a favorite place, whether it's an ocean or in the heart of New York City, and if you have large enough walls, there are usually wall-murals you can buy. (I had one in my old room.) That way when you enter your room, you feel as if you are in your favorite place.

Beach Theme Decorating?

Agent 007

I always get depressed around wintertime. So, Ive started to redecorate my bedroom like one you would find in a beach house. Specifically, these are the rooms I'm trying to imitate, on opposite sides of the same vacation beach house:

http://i1188.photobucket.com/albums/z415/obxbeachgoer/blueroom.jpg The master BR, looking out over the beach. Decorations were minimal because the main focal point is the beach outside the window, which I obviously do not have in my home.

http://i1188.photobucket.com/albums/z415/obxbeachgoer/bluestreetside.jpg Another blue room facing the street. Again, minimal decorations, no candles/fragrances, and lots of air conditioning.

How can I get the look of these rooms without any major renovations/ furniture changes?

Answer
You need to stick to a beach theme color palette. Think of sea glass. http://quovadisblog.com/2009/01/13/sea-glass/

Use these colors coupled with a sand tone on the floor and windows. Add elements like bamboo or straw shades. Soft sea glass in a large hurricane vase with a star fish. Make a sand castle from plaster of paris and put sand on it. http://www.myweddingfavors.com/castle-centerpiece.html

For fabric on the windows and for a decorative pillow and throw think Burlap it adds a wonderful tactile feeling to the room and keeps with the natural coloring. The material is very important http://thelennoxx.files.wordpress.com/2009/07/potterybarn.jpg

Frames painted in your secondary color with over sized mats in your neutral and shadow boxed beach items such as coral, cattail, reeds. https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiwkC4xvaVuQvcWyVn4uvlI0yRLQkNkwAohIV8tBhNaKASN7ihM-yWpW_W07eZ_T3aVBH5I5EUj1f_vlKCbUa4nsx_anjLayPBmGsICor3FF_WKoEBNh6WR1AxQwXDEGeYDGB84hpyWPlU/s400/playroom-kids-wall-art.jpg

The room should "feel" soft and subtle http://lh5.ggpht.com/_t8-Y4w1UKrc/TJ2ZGZjCMgI/AAAAAAAA43I/4Nsezx7KeT4/image_thumb%5B26%5D.png?imgmax=800
And have a touch of vintage shabby to it. http://www.countryliving.com/cm/countryliving/images/bedroom4-de.jpg

Bedroom decor ideas.?

Bronwyn

I am in a small unit and want to redecorate my bedroom. The walls are white and I have wood panel floors. So far I have a white bedspread with a Raspberry throw across the end of the bed and raspberry and white patterned pillows. I think the whole room needs more but I am not sure what to do to add a bit more interest to the room. What colour bed skirt do you think I should have as I am thinking a Raspberry colour may be too overwhelming. Also would introducing touches of lime green be too radical? What sort of rug should I have as well and what type of furniture? (White or woodgrain?). Your suggestions would be much appreciated :)

Answer
oooh i love your ideas so far, im currently in the middle of redecorating my bedroom so im in decor mode (and getting excited for christmas decorating isn't helping either!), any whom depending on what "raspberry" is to you (more red, or more dark/bright pink?) i think accent colors that would work best are; medium bright blue, lime green, or even dark purple. depending on your age and your taste i think you would be happier with purple or blue in the long run (they are a little more mature and will age better) also, for furniture i think that wood grain is the better choice because it comes in many different colors, styles and you can always re stain old furniture to suit a new style. white is more juvenile and it harder to keep clean. for a rug i would go with your accent color, maybe shag..... just a few ideas, hope you like them!

Bedroom decor?

Any ideas on how to decorate this on a TIGHT budget? I'm open to all suggestions on colors, themes, etc.:) Details appreciated.
My bedroom : hardwood floors, no furniture yet. Off white walls (can paint), White doors and trim. Two tall, narrow windows. About 7 or 8 feet tall, start about two feet off floor and about 4 inches from ceiling. Pretty small. We have a queen size bed and after that there is probably enough room for say, a dresser and desk and then a bit left to walk through. Not much space at all. Just looking for some fresh, creative ideas from people instead of websites:)

Well how about visiting your local budget store (like Walmart or Target if in the US) and look for side wicker tables. They are usually cheaper. I would go with White.
Then pick a fresh clean color for your walls. Like spa blue or light lemon yellow.
Get a white down comforter and white sheets. You can find these for cheap at budget stores.
Find a throw blanket in the color of your walls and fold at the edge of bed for a splash of color. Get white curtains. Find a lamp that goes well with the walls and also a canvas painting to hang right above the bed. (Target has some very cute canvas paintings for all color themes -some under $20).
It depends on what YOU like obviously. But on a tight budget- you can do a crisp clean Summer Spa room for very little money. Set a couple colored candles on a dresser and just give your room an airy feel.
I would skip any kind of carpet or rug altogether. Hardwood floors are the BEST.
As for bed. Just get a bed frame (especially if you hang a painting above the bed) and mattress. To give the bed more feel - add loads of pillows instead.
