Please Help!!!?

curt

I just decorated my sons bedroom with camouflage and painted the walls camo as well. I am at a loss at how to decorate the playroom since he is 7 and I have a baby on the way and I don't know the sex of the baby yet. He likes space, dinosaurs, and legos. Please give me any ideas. We have a 5 bedroom house with one kid and one on the way if that helps.

Answer
I'd decorate the room in primary colors. I'd also use chalkboard paint to make a large chalkboard on one wall, and washable paint on another for a coloring surface.

How to organize my childs toys??

Celeste >

I need help on how to organize my childs toys. At this point in time I am staying with my husbands mother. While he is in the navy. Me and our child are staying in the basement, it is a fully done basement with bathroom and living room ext.. One problem is that we only have one room. So all my kids toys are in the living room and bedroom. I don't what to go out and buy a organizer, b/c we are moving soon! So dones any more have any ideas?? Please help me I am so sick of having all these toys every were.

Answer
Get a few clear storage boxes (or decorative boxes, your choice) and sort the toys into types. I have done this with my kids toys and they only have one type of toy (cars, Lego's, dinosaurs, lepster games, etc.) out at a time. It keeps everything more straightened up and you can keep the same system after you move. Also, if kids only have a few toy choices out at a time their play will be more focused too, I promise!

What ideas are good decor ideas for a teen girls bedroom?

JeSSiCa

I am getting bored with my old bold green room, I am looking for a newer, cheap, and modern look.

Answer
A lot depends on what the girls like. Are they into sports or still in the girly look? It is always a good idea to have a place for makeup and desks for working so can you find a place to work them in? Might even have bunk beds to be able to get more floor space for desk. If you can do 2 desks so each girl has their own area, they can double as computer and homework place and also makeup spot. but each girl needs her own. Maybe even check out dorms and build it more like a college dorm. There they have 2 twin beds and then usually 2 desks, one for each and a closet each. That is about all that goes in a room. A book shelf or even a hutch over the desk is good to put keepsakes and books and supplies. You may be able to pick up desks and huth at a consignment store or a thrift store. I got mine there at the senior center thrift store. You might be able to let them share a printer if the desks are side by side or you have a wireless printer (wireless not in electric but in connection to computer. If girls are going to collee, as they near it you might consider a laptop for each. Some families like to keep the computer in a family area rather than bedrooms though because of the stuff on the internet and they can monitor them.

As to colors, you can keep walls neutral and decoraete using posters or prints. No more princess stuff for teens, but do include fluffy pillows for the beds. If there is space, separate rooms is nice for teir friends to visit.

You can even do a diagonal line across two opposing walls and paint one side one color and one use the diagonal lines to divide the colors and the colors extend for their side only. Then soften it with curtains that pick up both colors and also using posters or framed prints on the walls to break it up. Can do the same with neutral walls. There are also stencils you can put around the top of a room. I did some roses and purple star flwoers with green leaves and it was like an arbor almost and the kids called the room the rose room or the princess room as they felt like princesses in there. But walls were white. I had spreads with big red peonies that almost looked like roses and it had purple star flowers and green leaves so the roses which were very full, looked almost like the spreads and I used red and purple and green in the room. The carpet was even white and I used wool oriental rugs by the bed and a stained glass lamp shade with roses and a Grecian girl brass base. Had to call it the rose room when any of the fewer boys ame to stay. Or let the girls stay there and the boys could stay on sofa or in the big blue big chairwith ottoman. Unfortunaately we have downsized now and don't have all the space we did then as we went to a small cottage and a mobile home. But you might find a stencil the girls like and put it on the walls, either in random patterns or as a border at the top or even dropped down a bit as mine was. I did the stencils around and then did just the roses and no star flowers about every 3rd one above it as it needed soemthing else. I hope I have photos someplace. I haven't caught up with photos since they went into storage.

Good luck in finding something lovely and feminine and yet very practical for the girls.

Is there a Website that offers Bedding and other Bedroom decor in a Classical Music Theme?

Tyler H

I desperatly need a new look for my bedroom and I am a Classical Musician. So I was wondering is there anything out there to help me?

Answer
Choose deep serene colors for the wall, such as smoky gray or burgundy then add music wall art in silver or gold tones, respectively, to add contrast.

Change things up for classical music aficionados with framed classical musical scores, busts of Mozart or Beethoven set on floor pedestals and cast resin grilles above doorways and windows that recreate the look of elegant plastered reliefs. Paint them in a hue that is similar to the wall color in order to make it look as though an artisan has created them on site.

All kinds of musical themed home decor here:

http://www.themusicstand.com/Music-Home-Decor-s/1.htm

As for bedding, there is more geared toward kids for this theme. If you prefer a more adult look, I'd suggest going with plain bedding that coordinates with the walls, and add music inspired pillows. If you add a lot of other musical decor to the room, the bedding might just be overkill. The site I've provided above will have nice classical looking music note inspired pillows that would look nice added to a solid color bedding set. You might also want to consider purchasing their musical throw and adding it to the bottom of the bed for a pop of design there as well.

Help! I need room ideas!?

Bob

So I just bought a quite large home and I'm not sure to do with all the rooms. I already have a living room, a kitchen, three bedrooms, a guest bedroom, an office, a library, three bathrooms, a dining room. A hall, a conservatory, a sun room, a music room, a ballroom, a drawing room, a computer room, an art room, and a game room. Also I have a basement, garage, and an attic of course. My only problem is I still have about 20 rooms left. My house feels empty and I'm not sure what else to do. Any and all suggestions are appreciated. Best answer goes to the person with the most reasonable rooms. ( by reasonable I mean purposeful)

Answer
1. Kitchen - Go simple. If you have a color in mind then paint it on the cabinets rather than walls.
2. Living room - My living room is collectique. This is where you want to piece together odds and ends and make it work. So keep the color palate in this room neutral and natural. Dark greens, browns, tans, whites, etc. Bookshelves on both ends of a fireplace would look nice.
3. Dining room - This room needs to be the most simplified. Since not much time is spent here, This is where you need to cut back on your budget. Apply the more expensive items elsewhere. A nice table, tablecloth, centerpiece and a few photos on the wall will suffice. Make sure the color or theme scheme is the same as the kitchen so there is a nice flow.
4.Hall - Don't clutter this area. Instead of putting several small photos up, try a HUGE mirror instead or oversized photos or artwork.
5. Conservatory/Sunroom - Maybe a bench and some tropical plants. But you could start gardening and use these rooms as a greenhouse, it will work just fine. Visit http://www.seedsandshovels.com for more info
6.Music room - Do you have instruments? If not you could invest in a piano for looks or learn how to play it.You could do a Victorian kind of theme here. Antique looking photos, antique piano, etc. If you are willing to take on a project then I would suggest you do so in this room!
7.Ballroom - Hmmmm....I would just leave this room alone for now. I don't know what purpose you might have in mind for this one. I will get back to it.
8.Drawing room - You definately might want to put your sewing or cricut machines in here on some simple desks or tables. Any projects you are taking on...use this room to create your mess. I wouldn't bother to really decorate it. This is an adult play room...lol
9.Computer room - Some simple desks, try glass tables or desks for an open feel. Sometimes computer rooms are small and you feel sufficated.
10.Art room - I wonder if this room is beside the drawing room? I would knock down the wall and make it one room. I would treat it the same as the drawing room.
11.Game room - Big screen TV, Xbox, anything game related. Keep it all together in huge entertainment center. Also I saw someone who did this....Take 2 couches and put one right behind the other. But the one in the back needs to be raised up on a platform. Build one or maybe find one online? That way people sitting on the second couch will be able to see the TV, just like being in a movie theatre!
12.Basement - This could be the ultimate man cave. Since you have the cars in the garage, I would covert this to a workshop if you could. Or if it is insulated then I would do a bar theme. Have a bar and stools, a TV and a mini fridge...or leave it alone for now.
13.Garage - I wouldn't bother putting up any decor. However, if you found any cute nik naks that don't fit in the house then I would decorate the garage with them.
14.Attic - Who goes in here?
15.Bedroom 1 - Black and white - this is the most simple theme. Decorate in only black and white. You would be amazed at all the cool things you can find. Again Hobby Lobby is your best friend! Add some red for a pop of color.
16.Bedroom 2 -Green, tan, brown - Keep it natural and relaxing. Only use colors found in nature. A small rock garden on a table would be cute.
17.Bedroom 3 - Sky blue, white and orange - I have a comforter with these colors. I have used pictures of birds on the walls and also there is alot of decor called "bird on a wire" google it and you will see. Or you can use some birdcage decor you will find at Kirkland's or Hobby Lobby.
18.Office - Just like the computer room you want to keep this area simple so you don't get crowded. If you must use more than 1 desk then put them back to back, so you are working with your co-worker (lol..) face to face only separated by a computer screen if you catch my drift. Bookshelves would be nice but keep to a minimium. Use a few large photos rather than several smaller ones. Less is more and remember not to choose big and bulky furniture. You know how it is when you go to a professional office and you wonder why everything is so large in such a small room. Do that opposite of that!
19.Library - A cozy couch and maybe a recliner. A few large decor pieces. Again you could do the Victorian theme, since this is an area that your guests probably won't be spending much time in. This is your relaxing area. I would put up wall to wall bookshelves and a nice, large rug with the furniture sitting ontop in the middle. An oversize floor vase would look great!
20.All bathrooms - I would use the bedroom themes so it can flow nicely. If it's a guest bathroom then I would do something simple and neutral rather to appeal to both genders.

Whew...that's how I would decorate it. Add me as a contact and keep in touch. I want to see updates!

Christmas presents for me?

Katherine

So I'm 16 and I'm a girl. I like Pokemon and dragonball z and WoW and baggy "hippie" clothes and I don't wear makeup to rock music. I have a few things down for Christmas but my dad says I need to add more. So fr I have Pokemon sapphire, iTunes money, the movie 16 candles, a book, and nail polish. What else could I get? I don't want to be greedy?

Answer
Season DVDs to your fav show
Pieces of clothing you chose, and tell him where it can be bought
A necklace, according to your favorite things: (for instance, a pokemon necklace, or a dragonball z necklace...they do have things like these!)
Slippers
Fuzzy socks (a must!)
New headphones
Ear muffs
A scarf
Boots
Gift cards to your favorite stores
A foot massager
If you own a Wii, a Wii points card to buy games on the console (same can be done for Xbox)
Chicken Soup books (they have them for so many different topics!)
A book light, for night time reading or reading in the dark
Board games you like
Games for your PC
PJs
A nice new blanket
Accessories for your gaming systems
A phone cover/accessory
Crafty things and supplies
A magazine, or subscription to one
Body soaps/sprays/lotions/skin care products
Nice shampoo/conditioner/hair products
Other bath products, like a loofa
A CD you want
Organizers for your bathroom or bedroom
Toys or other things for your pet, if you have one
Decor for your room

Merry Christmas, and Happy Thanksgiving of course!

ohkay. So my family is moving into a new house like tommarrow.. and I need some bedroom ideas! I'm 15 year old typical girl. Love lots of colors, but I think I'm gonna keep the walls a cream color?

I had some ideas in mind. tell me what you think. Or any other ideas would be fantastic :)

- first idea:
cream walls, black borders. white Christmas losghts around the top of the walls, and a dream catcher painted above my bed.
I have a king sized bed, ( for now just a plain black comforter. but once I figure out what I want, I'll get a new one.) a white vanity table, and 2 white shelfs I was planning on putting in there. (I have a huge walk in closet and my dresser goes in there) soo? How does this all sound?

Or my second idea!

Maybe like a fairytale room. like a chandelier (I dont know how to spell that!! Obviously. haha) and maybe a silver bed frame. some silver glittery curtains. maybe my walls like a light light pink or white?
or maybe just cream. then have a big canopy. ??
Ideas?

Any other ideas are welcome.

I also have my own bathroom to decorate too! We already had the bathtub/ shower done. it is a light granite tile, then at the top it has almost like a diamond looking tile pattern. then the tub is just plain white. there is a white toilet, white counters, and a silver sink.

The walls are a really hideous green. so I deffinetly need to paint. so what color would be nice? I need to pick out curtains and shower curtains and sinks too. so any ideas?

Thanks I'm advance. (:
Trinity
My room in my old house had hot pink walls, black trim and border, and the ceiling was zebra print. (it was friggen awsome if I do say so myself (: ) and yes. I'm very sad to leave it, but I don't think I should do the same thing in my new room. it's a new house. a new start. a fresh beginning.

and I suck at decorating so please help me out?(:

Answer
Hey,
here are some ideas :

-Make a collage in your room. Like put your favourite pictures together and format it into a nice place. (it adds colour and personality!)
-Add a lamp to make your room look cozy and calm
-Add a white or black, or pink rug to make it look cozy , calm and warm
-Put posters on your wall. Like your favourite singers, actresses/actors.
-Decorate your walls with pictures of yourself with your friends, etc.
-You can have a dresser with a mirror and you can put all your perrfume, lotion, nail polish, etc placed neatly on top to add some colour in your room! :D
-Spray a bit of febreeze or air freshener to make your room smell nicer and cooler! I do that all the time lol. It's calms everything down :)
- On your wall, just add anything that describes you
-Hang some artwork!
-Have a vase and fill it with flowers! :)
-if you gave a stuff animal, place it sitting somewhere, can be in a corner.
-if you want to add more colour, then open your closet door so all your clothes stand out!

good luck and i hope i helped! :)

Ideas for decorating a toddler boy bedroom?

POPPY

I just finished painting the walls in my soon to be 3 year old son's bedroom. The paint is called "Guacamole" . Its a very warm rich green. My trim is dark wood, which I hate (I like white trim but I'm renting). I'm having a tough time decorating because his dresser is white and the toddler bed is a pine color. I'm not willing to paint the dresser and I really prefer to use what we have already. I love the look of pottery barn, but can't really afford to spend the money. Can you help me come up with some affordable ideas to make it look like a cool, & fun big boy bedroom. I'm not into themes because his likes change so often. But one thing that always stays the same is cars, trucks and trains. I could decorate by displaying cars and picture frames with cars&airplanes themes. I"m not sure. Possibilities are endless. I also need an idea for curtain color. I'd like to add a play table and an easel. I'm also making an underbed train table as a surprise. Thank you for reading my post.

Answer
Just a thought. Try downloading a printing pictures of high end cars and exotic planes or trains. Then frame them and put them up in his room. For extra touches add a small collection of Maisto cars in cases for display. By the way many car dealers will give you free booklets and on occassion you can get promo items(i.e. we got a Porsche flag for our sons room). Maybe a few light weight model planes hanging from the ceiling. And if your able put a 6" shelve about 18" from the ceing around the entire room and set up a electric train on it. Put a switch some where on the wall out of his reach for now(he'll enjoy turning it on when he five or so, but not now he may break it to easily). Also for the curtians try a dark green or Dark purple(aka Royal Purple). By the way a extra nice touch is a rug for a kids room has a play scape on it (usually a road and such). I know it sounds like a lot, but it works out nicely. It's what we are doing for our sons room.

Cool ideas for a teen girls bedroom?

AnnMarie

i am redoing my room soon and i need some ideas!! i have picked the color i want to do. i am doing teal/pool colors, and white. :) i need cute ideas for things to set around the room, decor ideas, anything!! thank u!!

Answer
Do realize that in bedroom décor worlds, like spread and accessories, this year's teal, aqua, etc.. ma not match or coordinate with next year's shades or hues. This is all the more important if you are purchasing things on sale, typically slightly older merchandise, and hope to finish up later.

When pre-teen and teen types ask for bedroom décor ideas, I like to suggest that they look around but then save some of their budget for DYI equipment, tools, and supplies. For example, once you've seen some of the magazine holders available for sale it doesn't take too long to see that the shape can be easily cut out of a cereal box with an exacto or utility knife using a metal edged ruler for a straight edge. From there, the box can be covered in anything ranging from brown mailing or printed gift wrap paper, paint, or cloth. In fact, when you look at the décor magazine holders in the $20 or higher range, you will find that many are basically a covered, cardboard box. The cost of the equipment, tools, and supplies for the first constructed holder can often be no more expensive than the cost of one purchased holder from the décor storage department; the cost of additional constructed holders then goes down depending upon the supplies chosen. And, thrift stores like Goodwill are great places for finding low-cost supplies and materials; look through the linens and curtain departments but, even the cloth cut from an old formal often works well for smaller projects.

This said, lace appears to be quite popular in the clothing world and, gaining in the décor world. Spray adhesive, a glue gun, some scissors, and old lace or netting can be used in all sorts of ways. Consider covering your lamp shade, trash can, or book ends with some lace or netting cut from purchased yardage, remnants, or out of something de-constructed from the thrift store. Make gathered ruffles of the same and attach using a glue gun or thread and needle. You can also use the same to make painted designs on items; tack the lace on the item then paint to leave the lace pattern in the underlying color.

If you truly want to save some money, learn how to paint furniture, accessories, and things like picture frames. This will require some tools, equipment, and skill building. A sewing machine is also another investment that can return untold dollars when talking about room décor projects.

Learning some of these types of DYI skills, how to think out of the box, how to duplicate and/or improve on what you've seen on the store shelf or showroom floor, and getting a basic collection of equipment, tools, and supplies can give you a whole life time's worth of savings too.

Im looking for a small chic chair and a very small glass end table
my color palet is black pink and zebra

Answer
Thats my daughters exact decor. I went to Target and they have the cutest mirrored end table for 50 bucks and I got a chic gold painted rod iron chair at a store called DD's deals in California, but it is a lot like Ross and Marshalls if you dont live where I live. Cause I have never heard of DD's till I moved to my area. But if you have a Ross or Marshalls type store in your area, they seem to have a lot of stuff for room decor to choose from. I even got my daughter zebra print satin sheets at a Ross the other day. Hope this helps. I wish I cold post pics.

Ideas on styling my room ?

Q. I'm a teen and I want to re-do my room . I like colors combo but i don't know what color combo ( black/white/lime green, pink/purple/white etc.) I wanted things in it like beads and i wanted a comforter that doesn't look like a kid's comforter . I also wanted to resemble my interests.
I like Dancing
Fashion
Desiging
Shopping

I'll accept all answers
Websites if possible plz !

Answer
You could paint one wall, preferably the wall behind your bed a medium shade of purple, and hang up vinyl records on the wall. If your room is pretty small, try not to paint your walls dark colors, it makes your room seem smaller!

Or you can use some of these decals on your wall:
http://www.decaljunky.com/cart/c-66-dance.aspx
They're all dancing ones

Now, to get more of a "fashion" feel to your room, you can try adding mannequins! You can find a lot on ebay! Try Putting clothes on a rack and not in a closet, it adds more of a fashion vibe. A couch. Although it's kind of expensive if it will last a long time and its worth it.

Mirrors make a nice addition since it reflects light, and makes the room look bigger.
Cloose favorite colors and shapes. Colors should reflect your moods and personality. Different colors of shaped objects in the decor like clocks, picture frames, chairs, floral arrangements, help accent every room to the max.

I like rummage sales to pick out different objects that look interesting and make a conversation piece.

Old books stacked are sophisicated, old dishes used for candle holders or jewelry holders are very stylish.

I look for objects that I might be able to hang my jewelry on for part of my decor, hold a hat, hold a throw blanket for those chilly fall days, baskets for holding makeup, brushes, etc.

clear shoe holders hang on the back of your door for all of those quick to get items used every day. school items, hair items, makeup, under garmets, cleaners for facials, hair, or just bathing, perfumes, ....anything you can imagine!

Use flat plastic containers to put under the bed for extra blankets, or extra decorations to trade out sometimes to make the room look a bit different without spending over budget. However you decide, it has to be YOU! Have fun sweetie!

Now for the wall colors:

Purple and green are the opposite colors so its perfect combo. Add a hint of pink, blue or both to add that variety. Use the white and or silver as your accent colors. I would suggest to paint an accent wall. Have your two walls dedicated as your black & white movie style pictures. Use basic black frames for them. You can usually buy the frames for cheap if you stick with the plastic black ones. This will also draw the attention to the pic not the frame. You might want to use one horizontal stripe on two sides of the room to make it longer. Vertical to make it taller. Use a solid purple color comforter with plaid, square or flowery styled pillows

Best place for comforters for the color scheme you want are Walmart & Target. Black & white pics is target. For lamps and maybe some shelving, Bed Bath & Beyond.

Of course trying to figure out your room with out looking at it, Im only guessing here but if your walls are small by your entry door, add two long mirrors. If the window is opposite from your door, natural light will bounce from them and make the room appear larger. Also the mirrors can be written on with dry erase board markers could be used for msg's, reminders or important dates.
For your windows, drapes can be soft and sheer. One idea you can do is find sheer material to drape across and over the window. Another way is to find an inexpensive shower curtain, preferably sheer. maybe a white one, cut 4" of ribbon (fun and colorful maybe even feathery) tie around the holes of the shower curtain (leaving enough room for it to slide back and forth on the curtain rod.) glue on flowers or sequences. You will have your very own unique curtain.

Hope I helped,
Laura

How do I hang this accordian storage holder in kids room?

Mommy of 2

I just re-decorated our 2 1/2 year olds room. We bought a lot of really cool decor for her room and one of the items is this disney accordian storage holder. I'm not sure exactly how to describe it, but it just has 3 fabric storage bins and I was going to put stuffed animals in them, but it's supposed to drop down from the wall and look like an accordian. It can't be against the wall though. It has a velcro (sp?) loop at the top, but I have no idea what to use to hang this...any ideas? Thanks
My husband said the same thing (it probably goes in the closet) but it's really cute and I wanted to put it in her room, but I'll put it in the closet if that's the best option! =)

Answer
paint. I would suggest painting your room. Maybe go with a solid wall of hot pink, light pink, gray etc. You can buy blue painters tape and make stripes with the opposite colors. You will need less than one can of paint per wall. You can accent your decor with hot pink, teal and black items. You can even paint furniture you already have like desk, bed frame or photo frames. Scout out garage sales for unique items.

Nursery theme for a boy?

AmberK

I have fallen in love with a blue and green slightly modern bedding set and I'm thinking of either going with an ocean with fish, octopus and sea turtles theme or maybe a pond theme with ducks, turtles, frogs and bugs but I also am very fond of a 10pc set with a retro transportation theme with muted reds, greens, blues and touches of yellow which has everything in it and I like the convenience aspect of having all the decor already together. Any ideas or suggestions? I'm trying for a theme that will grow with him into his toddler years. Already have a crib and dresser/changer in a chocolate/espresso type finish

Answer
I think that blue and green are wonderful colors, especially for a baby boy. Surrounding your baby with animals will help him learn about them. For example, if there's a dolphin on the wall, and one day in 1st grade they learn about dolphins, your son can go, whoa, I have one of those in my bedroom!

What are some good comforter themes for a 1 year old and where can I get them?

PureAmbiti

I am in the process of getting an apartment in January and I wanted to get started on the minor things like bedrooms. I want to get myself a comforter set as well as my 1 year old son. It's hard to find cute themes for a full size bed for my son. I'm not trying to spend a lot on them no more than 100.00-115.00. I've looked on eBay and amazon and not much to go from that I actually like. Not sure what he likes character wise or the colors he likes. I was thinking about a cars theme based on the movie but they weren't quite what I had in mind. (I've been in another state since he was 6 months old job hunting, and working where there is better job opportunities trying to save so I could move him where I am). And also does anyone suggestions on what colors goes well with a silver satin sheet set? And where to get some cute comforter sets for a queen size bed.

Teen Bedroom help?

How can I decorate my room like this room:

http://kids.discovery.com/fansites/tradingspaceskids/episode/episode01-ba01.html

(the after picture, gold & red)

Where can I get the furniture, and how can i make the sign 'Make up'?

What kind of paint is need to paint the bed gold?

Any links, tips and help is great!

Thanks.
Where can I get the furniture online (the bed, mirror, lights, stool) and I don't want the movie theatre seats.
I live in Canada, so I need websites that ship to Ontario.

Answer
I would buy some unstained furniture and paint it with gold semi-gloss paint. Go to your local hardware store with the picture and see if you can find a swatch that matches or (even better) get the fabric you want to use for the capony drape and match the paint to that.

For the sign, go to your local craft store. They sell unstained wooden signs and stencils. I would waint the sign with water-based paint and then paint on the "make-up" with white spray paint or white paint with a small roller and a stencil.

How can I put a modern twist on vintage furniture?

Nix

I am moving into my new bedroom soon and it is very (very!) much smaller than my last so at the moment I am stuck with only a few pieces of furniture. I am trying to find a theme, something that will look modern and that I can create with accessories, not by altering the room as I am renting.

I have a vintage desk with a slanted surface that folds out, and an old-style bed with a large curvy headboard. They are both dark brown, and the walls of the room are brick. I can add shelves and have a small inbuilt wardrobe space.

I need tips on how to modern up the place and add a theme that won't make me feel like I'm living in a daggy, old-fashioned kids room.

Any help is much appreciated!

Answer
Paint your furniture in a bright color and use fun fabrics.

Check out the before and after section on www.designsponge.com. They have lots of cool ideas on how to update vintage furniture.

One I really like is drawing a picture of something on the wood, then you paint everything around the picture. You end up with the wood grain picture showing through. Looks really cool.
Get a nice carpet and have cool art on the walls.

What is some good decor for a teen girls room?

diana

my walls are going to be a soft pink. any ideas for prints, furniture, bedding, etc. ?

Answer
Animal prints are pretty popular and colors you could do a lime green, a dark brown, dark purple, but it honestly depends on your personal preference. Like I believe that a light pink and a light purple would be cheesy but if its a dark purple it would look good, but you may be don't think that.

Girl rooms? Help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!?

Kaylee Lyn

Ok so I just moved into a new house. I wanna make my room look good. I sam in 6th grade and I am VERY girly. Any tips like decor, Inspirational pictures, Personal experiences , or even crafts. Thanks

Answer
Paint the walls- I'd go with the following colors in your room. Turquoise for the walls, hot pink, black and white.
Put the bed in the middle of the room Find a bedspread that is black and white with circles or something. Two white end tables. Put a white desk in the corner and use the closet not a dresser.

Accent with hot pink accessories... Hope that gave you a fun Idea. Dont do pink or purple walls cuz your style will change.

Cheap Bedroom Redecorating Help...?

schmegan92

I am 16 years old and I want to redecorate my bedroom but my parents say if i want it redecorating i need to pay for it myself. I dont have a job so money is a bit of an issue.

I want to redecorate my room like retro like the hard rock cafe or tgi friday with like music wallpaper and stuff so does anyone have any ideas on what i can do. My bedroom isnt very big so i was thinking one wall with retro wall paper and the others with some basic colour.

Please can you give me any suggestions.

Thanks

Answer
Sounds like a really fun project. My suggestion would be to look at it like an adventure. You could shop garage sales for old record albums and use the covers to make your own wallpaper, you can also use old magazine covers (Roling Stone, Teen Beat, etc.). Garage sales or second hand stores, thrift stores may also be a treasure trove for pieces such as old barstools and other decorating items. If you have a Hard Rock or TGI Fridays near by you could ask them if they have some things to contribute. Check out Home Depot or Lowes for carpet samples you can sew together to make larger area rugs etc. You can also check the internet for images of rock stars to put in cheap frames for wall decor. Also, check places like eBay for old stuff, you can sometimes find unique things cheap. Check out second hand bookstores or even places like Barnes & Noble for old coffeetable books that have really nice glossy prints of the Beatles, Elvis, etc. Good luck and keep up posted!!

I want something larger but not to cover the whole room and not the size of a bath mat.

Any suggestions on where to look?

room divider for busy bedroom decor?

Bronwyn

I am in a small appartment and my bedroom is in the process of being transformed. My problem is that there is not enough storage space so I have bought a cheap gibboard white wardrobe (3 doors, 2 draws) It is clean and tidy but next to it I have 4 filing cabinet draws which I keep all my art work supplies, tools, craft supplies etc. The whole lot is along one wall my bed is on the opposite wall. I am ok with it being on this paticular wall so I really want to have some sort of room divider to just give a softer apperance to my 'work area'. It must be easily moved as I am in a rental.

Answer
Hi,

I would like to suggest a look at these room dividers, they have beautiful paintings which can soften any surrounding:

Bedroom decor ideas.?

Bronwyn

I am in a small unit and want to redecorate my bedroom. The walls are white and I have wood panel floors. So far I have a white bedspread with a Raspberry throw across the end of the bed and raspberry and white patterned pillows. I think the whole room needs more but I am not sure what to do to add a bit more interest to the room. What colour bed skirt do you think I should have as I am thinking a Raspberry colour may be too overwhelming. Also would introducing touches of lime green be too radical? What sort of rug should I have as well and what type of furniture? (White or woodgrain?). Your suggestions would be much appreciated :)

Answer
oooh i love your ideas so far, im currently in the middle of redecorating my bedroom so im in decor mode (and getting excited for christmas decorating isn't helping either!), any whom depending on what "raspberry" is to you (more red, or more dark/bright pink?) i think accent colors that would work best are; medium bright blue, lime green, or even dark purple. depending on your age and your taste i think you would be happier with purple or blue in the long run (they are a little more mature and will age better) also, for furniture i think that wood grain is the better choice because it comes in many different colors, styles and you can always re stain old furniture to suit a new style. white is more juvenile and it harder to keep clean. for a rug i would go with your accent color, maybe shag..... just a few ideas, hope you like them!

Good ideas/things/colors for a country girl bedroom?

Thatcountr

Please help! Changing up my room. Thanks!!(:

Answer
As for colors, pink and brown, sky blue and black, lilac, or tan colors work wonderfully together :) And you should get rustic looking wall hangings, like this one:
http://shop.hobbylobby.com/products/running-horses-silhouette-wall-decoration-381731/
(I have that one in my room (; )
And (if you have one in your area) go to a tack store or feed store and buy a few horse/pony shoes and hang them around your room, if you want, you can buy certain spray paints that is the color of rust and you can spray them on the horseshoes as well.
And if you have horses that you ride, hang their bridles on the walls.
And get old, vintage signs like these:
http://shop.hobbylobby.com/products/count-your-horse-twice-tin-sign-720797/
http://shop.hobbylobby.com/products/live-well-laugh-often-love-horses-wood-sign-721654/
http://shop.hobbylobby.com/products/john-wayne-tin-sign-718551/
http://shop.hobbylobby.com/products/howdy-wood-wall-plaque-404830/
to hang above your window, bed, mirror, or door.
Also, the Classic Texas star or Barbwire looking decor is defiantly country :) Good luck!/.

I'm redecorating my teenage girl bedroom and I need help?

Janet

I am a teenage girl (13) and I'm moving into a bigger room. (It's like a mini-master bedroom,lol.)
I don't know the size of the bedroom but if it helps it has two windows and four walls.
I'm not buying new furniture except a desk and maybe seating.
I really want to decorate a room I will never outgrow till I move out.
Here are my questions:
1. What colors should I paint on the walls? (that matches everything)
2. What colors should I paint on the furniture? (that matches everything)
3. Are there any cute bedding out there? (preferably an inexpensive bed in a bag or quilt)
4. Are wall stickers recommended? List all of the pros and cons.
5. Are there any cool but cheap posters I could buy?
6. Are there any interesting area/accent rugs?
7. How can I organize my room?
8. Any other creative ways to decorate my room?

To make answering my question easier, I will tell you a little about myself.
I love animals especially dogs, cats, rabbits, and horses.
I am very passionate about writing stories.
I love to read, watch movies and TV shows, do art, and use the computer.
I am not necessarily a girly-girl but not a tomboy. (Though, I have more tomboy in me.)
I hate jewerly, makeup, and nail polish. (Dunno that would help with room makeovers.)
I am not into music, sports, and things like that.
I love my stuffed animals and I love candy =D

Thanks for answering and sorry if this is too long.

The above site is called Polyvore. You can go in and create different rooms and also fashion. You will learn it fairly quickly. I am happy you get a new room. So fun to decorate and make a statement about you.Have plenty of shelves for all the books and stuffed animals. Iwill put some sites on for you.

What is fun about choosing a neutral color is that you can add pops of color in pillows, bedspreads, lamps, through rugs etc.

Using color wheels are fun and you can get ideas here. Start with your neutral and use the wheel to show pops of color

How to redecorate a small bedroom on a budget?

sara

I am a teenage girl and I fully redecorated my room 2 years ago, so I don't want to go all out this time. But I am looking for some small cheap ways to spruce up my bedroom. I am already saving up for a new comforter set. It's $40 and I'm hoping it's the most expensive thing I'll end up buying. So does anybody have any ideas of ways to inexpensively semi-redecorate my bedroom? Keeping in mind that I can't rearrange my furniture because my room is set up so that the only arrangement that works is the way I currently have it.

Answer
Easy and inexpensive to add decor in a contemporary style using white and your accent color, best to pull a color from your bedding or choose an earth tone that coordinates with all colors such as blue-green/turquoise.

Think Marilyn Monroe era. What I want to do is put pictures around my bedroom of famous hollywood actress' e.g. Marilyn Monroe, Audrey Hepburn ect... I'm going to put a chandelier in the middle of my room but other then that I still don't know what colour wallpaper (for one side of the room) or accessories I want in my room.

Teen girl bedroom theme?

Laurel

I wanted to completely redo my bedroom. It has no architectural flare. Just four walls - the average room. My room is rectangular shaped with my window on a long wall and my door on the opposite. My closet is on the shorter lengthen walls. On the wall with my closet and the opposite wall from my closet, I want to paint it a teal/ turquoise color. On the window and door walls, I want just a plain white. With white and black accents. Kind of a Tiffany's look. I'm girly, but no too girly. Black and white picture frames. I have off-white furniture right now. If I am aloud to get new furniture I want

they are expensive so I am not expecting to get that sadly.. Any ideas on accessories or any other opinions on what you think would be better? I want to like it until college at least so it needs to be able to appeal to all teen years...

THANKS(:

Answer
Hello, Laurel, and congratulations on redoing your bedroom. Your selection of colors and styles sounds quite sophisticated and will take you through your college years. You really have done your homework, now letâs get the look for lessâ¦.

The white/ black/ turquoise(teal) sounds fabulous. Are you able to paint your furniture? Painting everything semi-gloss white will unify the furniture and make it seem more like a âcollection.â Next, consider adding a set of cubes or a storage bench with fabric 3 cubes and fabric cubes â in turquoise (of course!) at the end of your bed (see http://www.homedepot.com/Martha-Stewart-Living/h_d1/N-5yc1vZ4tg/R-202040744/h_d2/ProductDisplay?langId=-1&storeId=10051&catalogId=10053 and http://www.homedepot.com/Martha-Stewart-Living/h_d1/N-5yc1vZ4tg/R-202040769/h_d2/ProductDisplay?langId=-1&storeId=10051&catalogId=10053 ). If you arenât able to buy the entire bedroom set, would you be allowed to get the bed spreads and comforter?

For the dressing area, consider two towers and a table top from your local home improvement store. White laminate is the usual surface material and that would coordinate with your color scheme. Add a mirror (white or black frame) and a patterned rug for good measure. Negotiate for the chandeliers! Best wishes and tell me how it turns out!

SSI for child question?

SophiaJaid

I applied for my daughter for SSI back in June 2012 for her legal blindness and autism she was excepted a few days ago and they said she wont get her first actual check till October but she gets her back pay here in September but my question is will she get a back pay amount for September too for a total of 4 months back pay or just June through August? I want to start an order for a new bedroom set for her and a few other things she needs medical wise but i dont want to go over her budget, Thanks!
its not all going for bedroom furniture but some of it is and clothes her glasses and food and stuff she needs

Answer
$674 is the last figure I could find for the monthly benefit.

This is a pretty good site
http://www.raymourflanigan.com/kids-bedroom-sets.aspx?pcnid=4

with sets from $900 to $1400 for a youth bedroom. If you need more than 4 month's benefits for furniture, you need to scale back a little.

I'm looking for this furniture, but cheaper. Really like the styles & colors!?
