I need some decorating tips for my beach themed room?

BEACH BABE

I need some help. I love the beach and i want my room to show it. So... I have things like shells, furniture, and rugs. But, i need some ideas for colors (yellow like the sun or blue like the ocean?), and other little nic nacs. If you have ideas, please let me know if you got them from a website or where I can buy them! Thanks SO MUCH!
P.S. The one who gives the most and best ideas gets rewarded with the best answer!

Answer
I think blues and sand colors make the most restful room for a beach theme. Add some whites too with breezy white curtains. White wicker looks beachy to me, so buy an old wicker chair and spray paint it white.
Here are some thing I hope you like:

Do they expect the celibate rule on catholic priests to be indefinite?

Because I don't really see any celibate priests or the myth of perfection through celibacy being mistaken for a "rational" choice anytime soon. At this rate I can bet you the Vatican itself will be "pro-gay" in 50 years, given that the Pope itself is always caucasian, and that by 2062 it will NOT be a harsh social reactionary as we understand one now.

Answer
As long as they stop child abuse... and it is not just boys ... girls get done over also and Nuns also abuse girls in their charge and the children even do it to the children.
I need to agree here ... I have been celibate myself before and I did it for a couple of years straight ... so it is not just an automatic link.
I don't think the churches will last that long but whatever happens ... lets just hope that they respect the kids and the adults and we all just get along.
I love all religions in their deep respect for a belief and their art and their lovely old buildings with such rich and colorful designs and feel that we as humans better forgive.
I forgive the Catlickers for what they did to me as a child and they were the only humans who ever cut my hair when I was a little girl ...so...they never meant to hurt me so deeply.
I hope everybody is not gay or we as the humans can't make kids ... but they still have a choice and it is not my business if they are or what they do in the bedroom.
Lets just hope peace rules???
I was born in 1962 ... so if I make it to 100 ... I will be very lucky indeed.

Where is the best time share vacation to go on in FLORIDA?

TINKMINK

I seriously need a vacation, but I cant afford it. I know you can find good deals through time share tours. Has anyone experienced, a time share vacation in Florida. I do not want to stay in a crappy place. I am looking for at least a 4 star resort, something clean with no weird odors, and the interior needs to be up to date. Please help I am a new mom and I need to get away!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Answer
You may not fully understand how timeshare tours work...

These sales presentations are carefully designed to be extremely successful.. Part of the process often involves reserving your family a room in a comfortable (but small) motel room at a discounted rate.. You don't normally stay at the resort itself! You are then obligated to complete the entire sales presentation and tour of the specific timeshare property (if not completed, you are charged full price for the lodging and any other free gifts you received)..

The sales presentation is artfully crafted to ensure a high closing rate. Even the psychological impact created from the vast difference in quality between the motel room and the timeshare resort is a major sales tool! Even very savvy timesharing families will often find themselves caught up in the excitement and pressure of the sales team, and end up walking away with one of the most expensive "low cost" vacations ever!

Timeshare tours are a great way to learn about one thing- the specific timeshare program you are touring... These should not be considered a way to supplement the cost of a vacation!

You may be better served looking at a few timeshare marketing sites that offer timeshare rentals from people who already own at the resort and are not using their week! You can often find great deals (although you will normally always pay a little more than motel rates for the area) on incredible vacation villas featuring private bedrooms, full kitchens, private spas, gorgeous resort amenities, planned activities for the kids, etc.

www.TimesharesOnly.com is the largest timeshare marketplace in the world and would be a great place to start. You might also visit sites such as www.timeshareforums.com (a social media site for timeshare owners), www.simplytimeshare.com (an internet based timeshare classified site), or possibly myresortnetwork.com (another internet based site).. Make sure you ask if a third-party escrow system is available to protect you throughout the rental.

I'd recommend you avoid sites like eBay or Craigslist. While you can find great deals on both, there seems to be numerous reports of fraud and misleading advertisements from both those venues that can trap people not familiar with the industry.

I hope some of the above has been helpful.. Congrats on the new baby!

Should the bedroom decor match bathroom?

bedroom decor green
on Practical Kids' Bedroom Decorating Ideas

Jodi H

My bathroom is not in my bedroom but was wondering if it should match in any way?
Also was wondering about kitchen and living room?

Answer
I like the bedroom and bath to share one color, at least - such as;
1] lavender walls, smoke blue bedding and drapes in bedroom; and smoke blue walls in bath, with sage green accessories
2] if you can see the kitchen from the living area, also have one common color [ walls, upholstery, art, acceories ].
Otherwise, not necessary.
3] as a general rule, the smaller the home [ apartment, small house ] the more colors in common, the better.

What are some DIY or home decor ideas for pea green paint?

jwdylm21

I have a full can of pea green paint and nothing to do with it. I was going to use it on my walls but after i bought it i realized it wouldn't look very good with what i have in the room, I also don't want to buy a whole new set of furniture but i don't want to waste the paint either. I love doing DIY projects and crafty things but i can't seem to think of a good project to use the paint any ideas?

Answer
You can try to alter the color by adding white or other bases or you can try and work with it like these picture did..

Saving on heating costs in winter?

kids bedroom sets costco
on Home Furniture Bedroom Furniture Queen Bedroom Sets
kids bedroom sets costco image

irobot

I live in chicago area. preparing for winter, a friend suggested to get 2-3 personal heaters, for example one for the bedroom, one for the kitchen and maybe one more for the living room. he said he does the same at his house. they use these personal heaters for targeted areas as long as they are in a particular room and turn the central heat all the way down to 63-64. of course they have to wear a couple of layers of clothes all the time. his claim is that he saves a ton of money on heating costs at the expense of a little inconvenience of not having a cozy warm house all the time.

do u guys think its a good idea? we dont have kids so i thought maybe it might make sense for just the 2 of us. i really dread those winter days when u r hit with 3-digit gas bills.

Answer
I don't live in a climate as cold as yours but I do much the same thing. I turn the heat on in the morning, turn it off while I'm out, turn it on in the evening and off when I go to bed. Your climate is cold enough for pipes to freeze so you must maintain a certain level of heat at all times so you may not be able to turn the heat off but turning it down to low 60s is a big help. There's a lot to be said for heating specific areas more than others. Those oil-filled radiators are quite safe unattended unless the dog knocks them over, unlike heaters with coils which can set fire to nearby things, assuming your electrical system is up to the extra load of plug-in heaters of any kind. I find the bathroom is where I really like heat, so I often plug in a heater for a bit before shower time. The plug-in heater is never on unless I'm nearby.

An electric blanket can do wonders. Many people sleep better in a cool room, but getting into a cold bed is awful. Turn the electric blanket on for a half hour before you go to bed and you won't notice if the room is cool. Turn it off while you're sleeping. Get a down duvet, they're great in a cold room.

If you do this, get something very warm to wear on your feet. Change socks when you get home. If your feet are cold, you're cold. My latest find in slippers: Ugg-style boots with real wool fleece, cheap at Costco. They're so good I don't even wear socks in them, and your ankles stay warm too. You get used to a cool house, too. When I visit people who have the heat cranked to 70, I swelter. Two layers is no big deal, a turtleneck and a fleece vest will usually do it, and a nice fluffy wool blanket is great for when you're watching TV.

My parents think I don't appreciate them?

snowboardy

My mom read my IM and told me I said I "hate my family so much."
I denied this and read through the IM. I never said it. In fact, I talked about appreciating them and understanding their recent actions. I showed this to my dad and showed how I never said I hated my family. He just said he didn't want to read my IMs and stuff. Before this, however, he confronted me about this, asking what he'd done to make me mad. I said nothing, and he hasn't really.

Lately, my parents have been giving me a lot. For my birthday in May, we're remodeling my room and this is still going on now. They're buying me some furniture, paint and floors. I realize that's a lot of money.
My mom took my sister and I shopping the other day. We like to do school shopping early, so she spent like $200.
Also, we've been looking into cars. I get my license a week after I turn sixteen, and we're not rich. We're middle class, so we've been looking at cheaper cars. I was researching some of the ones we were considering and found that they were the ones that people laugh at and make fun of, and this bothered me a little. This caused my mom to yell, and my dad to demand who was laughing at my options for cars.

Now I feel bad, and they're saying how I don't appreciate them at all. I don't know what to do, because I have been pretty bad lately.
I don't think you guys know that I'm actually working for most of this myself. My parents just set the limits on what I get.
And yeah, they're looking at Chevy stuff...

Answer
Just drop the IM business. Seems that's a non-starter. They don't want to go there.
Try doing some little things. When your mom's busy in the kitchen, just walk up and give her a peck on the cheek. When your dad is headed out the door to work or running an errand, just holler "Bye dad, love you!" Chip in whenever possible. Chop the onions or clean the paint brush, be involved, but do it well. Bad help is worse than no help. Clean the paint brush until it's really clean, ask how small the chop the onions. If you don't know how to chop onions, ask if she'll show you how. Parents love to bestow their knowledge on their kids. Follow their direction then ask "Is this good?". Those kinds of thing will make them feel worth-while, and proud of you.
Some parents try to hide the financial side of life from their kids. I find that odd. You should have some idea of the family budget at your age. Maybe not exact figures, but about what the family income is and what the necessary expenses are, like the mortgage or rent payment, the electricity bill, the cable bill, phone bill, how much a set of tires cost or how much the a/c repairman hits them for when the air conditioner breaks down. These are things we all face and must balance. One day you will too and it's good to know the worth of things and how much work it takes to pay for everything. Rule #1, don't charge it! Debt is your worst enemy. If you know how much a can of paint is and that 2 coats of cheap paint costs more than one coat of better paint, or that the CostCo matress is just as comfortable as the Sealy that's $300 more, you can be a much more responsible person with your parents money, and be better prepaired when it's your own money. That way you can be more involved in the purchasing decisions that effect you. How much are they spending on your new bedroom floor? $4.30 a square foot for a pretty laminate? Go with them to the store. Watch, listen. See what they spend, how they decide. Suppose your mom's leaning toward that $4.30 a sq ft one, but you see one that's on sale for $1.99 a sq ft you'd be just as happy with. Ask them what they think.
About what price range are they looking to spend on your car? $2000? $3000? $5000? Find out, then do some looking on your own for something your friends won't laugh at. Don't tell your parents. Just look through the classified ads, stop at used car lots, search on line for a model that intrests you and learn what you can get for the amount you have to spend. You'll soon be able to spot a "sweet deal" when it crosses your path, then mention it to your folks when you think you've got a lead on "The car". Let dad check it out. He may feel it has too many miles on it for that price. You can learn even more from seeing what he looks at. I'll bet yall can find something that everyone can be happy with, dad's wallet and your pride intact!
They will feel good when you ask their opinions and that you are mature enough to take into consideration what it cost them. And when you do that, they'll know how much you really do appreciate them. They will even appreciate you more right back!

Any ideas for a vintage chic bedroom?

Q. I'm 14 and moving house soon. When I decorate my room, I want it really different and chic. I like 'vintage' style things, such as urban outfitter themed decor. I don't want a huge amount of pink. I like the idea of blues. I want one wall to be bright and the others plain. I like things clean cut and simple. Does anyone have any interesting colour themes that i could use or just any tips overall?

Answer
WOW.. i'm impressed! U'r 14 & u know what u what. Not too many do. So when u'r talking the "urban outfitter" I'm not quite sure where u'r heading. R u heading for the 50-60's look or what? As far as blues... for the 50-60 look u can go w/ blu/gr or gr/bl almost like turquoise. IF u WANT the pink, then put PINK tones as in pillows/frames/lamps things like that. I did my friend's 2 grls rooms but they wanted something brighter but I used mocha br along w/ pink & pinky/blu... it really came out kewl. The trends back then were 50's more pink/turquoise/black/white/red then moved into the turquoise/orange/browns/lime greens. I would love to help u if u want to e me. How can a bedroom look like an ice cream parlor?

me.

I want suggestions on an Ice Cream Parlor inspired bedroom.

Answer
You need a waffle cone pattern headboard - shaped like a cone with icecream - or just the waffle pattern. or a large vintage ice cream ad board.

Bedding in icecream colors. Lamps/floor mat shaped like ice cream cones. Find an antique ice cream maker for displaying. A cushy chair with ice cream pillows. Find a way to bring ice cream scoops into the decor. Also floats and milk shakes, ice cream sandwhiches....window coverings like bedding.

Look at ice cream parlor images to get more ideas.

Check stores for kids kitchen/food toys that you could incorporate, paint them to take away the plastic look. You could attach them to photo frames and dresser knobs.

what do i need to do and buy to re paint my bedroom?

Q. my mom has said i can re decorate my room as long as i buy all the paint etc but to be honest i havent got a clue, if i was left to do it on my own i would probably just go and buy some paint, and wack it all on the wall. but it cant be as easy as that can it :s so can anyone tell me like what different things i'd need to buy and how to go about painting my room?

Answer
Don't worry! It really CAN be that easy if you're decorating a small kid's room! However, if you're doing a big makeover on a teens room, especially a girl's, it can require a bit more planning!

First off, get a theme or colour scheme. For example, you could decorate your room in a shabby-chic style or maybe a more glamorous movie-star theme! It's up to You! If you don't want a theme then just get a colour scheme. Say, bright candy-apple green and lollipop pink! This can look AMAZING! This is a website with lots of different themes. Just click on the themes in the top left-hand corner for inspiration!

http://themeroomideas.com/Victorian/Vintage-style-decorating-ideas.html

http://themeroomideas.com/Marie-Antoinette-style/bedroom-decor.html

Move around your furniture if you think it will look better with, say, the bed under the window and your desk near the door. Now buy your bedding, paint, and curtains, as these can really change a room! Buy bedding that either matches your paint or is in a coordinating colour. Look at these websites or Google around for ideas and pictures!

http://www.home-designing.com/2008/09/teen-room-ideas

http://www.roomdecoratingideas.net/black-and-white-bedroom-decorating-ideas.php

You colud paint all your walls, just one accent wall behind the bed, (This is what I did in my room! :D ) or you could do stripes or wallpaper! It's up to you!

Once you've got your basics, do the really fun part. Shopping! Bring a friend if you like and go to lots of different shops. Try to look out for...
Beanbags,
Floor cushions,
Mirrors,
Wall Art,
Cute Furniture like trunks that you can store stuff in!
Lamps,
A cool headboard,
An area or accent rug (This is quite important!)
And stuff like that.

Display medals & trophies you've won, framed school papers, photos and general treasures to personalise your room. Have fun and enjoy it and don't forget Fairy Lights!

And stuff like

Bedroom wall color?

Heidi

I aksed this question earlier, but it dissapeared nad I asked it in P&S.

- Not a girly girl
- Not a tom boy either. Somewhere in the middle.
- Considering yellow but not sure.
- Ceilings are slanted.
- White panneling on celilings. Not changing.
- I like calm colors, or something relaxing.
Oh, and I love music. I have a Bob Dylan poster that I cherish. So if that helps, then so be it.
Fave color: green

Answer
play around with the Sherwin Williams color visualizer to find something that you like. It is the best paint visualizer on the web, imho. I like how their color palette is laid out, I like that you can search by color family & color name, the "painted" rooms look the most realistic, and it suggests coordinating color schemes. You can literally spend hours:
http://www.sherwin.com/visualizer/

I think a relaxing gray-green like "contented" (# 6191) would look terrific.

You can also take a photo of your house & upload it to the makeover gallery on this website:
http://www.roomvues.com/
You can get color suggestions & they'll photoshop them onto your room so that you can get an idea of what it will look like.

I need sale furniture that's kid proof. Can anyone help?

Answer
With the advent of disposable furniture from famous brands like Ikea and the like, poor quality seems to be accepted as normal. It is not normal, necessary, or environmentally responsible. A properly made bedroom set should last a lifetime. Go to any antique exhibition and you will see sets that are hundreds of years old. Mission furniture, which originated in Great Britain, is still made to last a lifetime. There is wide verity to choose from at www.barnfurnituremart.com
Authentic Mission style furniture also known as Arts and Crafts furniture is a timeless choice. When it is made using the traditional methods that make it, truly authentic it is a bulletproof choice. You will have something that will last and last. Many stores sell Mission Style furniture that is not made in the traditional way using solid oak. Instead, they use what they call solid wood. That is code for particleboard. Baloney IS meat. The Barn Furniture sells Mission furniture built with the traditional methods in a multitude of price ranges
If you plan on only keeping your furniture for 1 to 5 years and treat your furniture with kid gloves Ikea may be a good choice, however, ask anyone that has had Ikea furniture for a while or attempted to move it. It tends to auto destruct upon moving. Those cam lock type assembly hardware just don't like to be moved. What makes it fairly inexpensive is what makes it poor quality. The whole thing is about freight and warehouse space. This should NOT YOUR PROBLEM. In my humble opinion, virtually all assemble yourself furniture is inferior quality mostly made of particleboard filled with formaldehyde.

Where can i buy a good armoire(for clothes) for my mother's bedroom?

coroncoro4

I want to surprise her with a new armoire but i dont know where to buy a good one, ive been to target but no luck, and ikeas do no exist in Ny. please help, i need to spend no more than $300.00

Answer
Check your local newspaper's classified ads. Sometimes estate sales will list such pieces of furniture, and you can get a really classy armoire this way. Other times, you'll go to the see the furniture and it's very worn-out looking (knicked and scratched or badly in need of sanding and staining), in which you case you keep up your search. It's hit or miss, but you could get lucky!

I got a very nice armoire for $100 this way. It's sturdy and ornately detailed, but it took time to find just what I was looking for. [It is dark-stained oak, to endure my children.] Be patient by realizing that people get rid of things like this all the time, for lack of room, because they are moving or because of a divorce, etc. It's not necessarily because they think it's just junk they want to be rid of. Maybe it belonged to a teen that is now going off to college.

Also, check out some antique and second-hand stores. You never know what you'll find, and sometimes the salespeople will bargain with you over a big item like that.

I realize you are looking for a "new armoire," but consider your budget and what you can get for how much cash you're willing to part with. It's really worth it to look through the classified ads and to visit estate sales (and garage sales) that list furniture, because you can sometimes get a better quality piece of furniture than you might be able to afford otherwise.

Would your mother be any less surprised if you presented her with a really nice armoire that was gently used before? With they money you could save, maybe you could then put something new for her to wear inside of it. That would be thoughtful, too.

Of course, if your mom is superstitious and thus might think the previous owner of the armoire died and that she'll be haunted, then by all means stick with something new.

I think of the newer armoires as rather plain-looking, and not nearly as sturdy as they used to be, unless you're willing to shell out a whole lot of money. But, that's my opinion.

To give you a tangible idea of the difference between what you can get second-hand versus what you can afford that is new, please consider that the armoire I bought for my kids (second-hand, gently used) looked similar to this one (and please see the price of it):

http://www.onewayfurniture.com/bt9004103.html

I've listed several sites (search results for new armoires) below.

I hope this helps.

Desperate for storage or tips to make more room in a tiny space?

kids bedroom furniture for small spaces
on Bedrooms For Kids - create a unique theme bedroom - Themed Bedrooms ...
kids bedroom furniture for small spaces image

Just Me

I have 5 kids in one room........yep 5 in one room! We are trying to change our basement into 2 rooms but for now I need to figure out how to have all their stuff in there and not be all over the floor. I have bought the under the bed storage containers and the closet is stuffed. Any advice you can give would be helpful.

Answer
Go Vertical: Consider tall furniture rather than wide to preserve precious floor space.

Use Your Walls: Add a shelf or rack to display a favorite collection or for hanging hats, ties and scarves.

Stash It in Style: Today's occasional tables offer plenty of storage with drawers, shelves and cubbies plus glass-topped display space for collectibles.

Stack 'em: Stackable and folding chairs are excellent ways to keep a supply of seating for a dinner party, holiday gatherings or drop-in guests.

Sweet Dreams: Sleep better knowing that you've taken advantage of the valuable space under the bedâin style. Use decorative boxes and storage bins to stow out-of-season clothing, wrapping paper, sporting goods or anything else.

Retractable Doors: When shopping for an armoire or entertainment center, look for ones with retractable doors to provide more space when the doors are open.

Try the Kids' Department: Youth furniture is designed to fit into smaller rooms but also accommodates adults just fine. Have a small guest bedroom or a little alcove office? A child's dresser or desk might be the perfect fit.

Rollin', Rollin', Rollin': Many pieces of furniture have wheelsâwhether it is a sofa, a coffee table, a storage shelf, kitchen table or an ottoman. Enjoy extra mobility and function with a wheeled piece of furniture that is fashionable and practical.

Don't Leaf It Out: If a full-size dining room table is just too big for the dining area, ask your retailer about one with removable leaves.

Accent It: A mirror is always a nice accent to any room, but especially a small one. Mirrors add light and depth when space is limited. And the right accessories will highlight one's personal style and enhance the intimacy of a small space.

If you're looking for a cozy, intimate space, you're in luck. By using soft, snuggly upholstered pieces, dark, warm tones, and dramatic lighting, your tiny corner can become a wonderful private space.

Clear Out the Clutter

There's nothing that makes a small space feel cramped more than having too much stuff.

Small Space Design
Work out ways to get collections out of view, organized behind doors, table skirts, or on shelves. With things neatly arranged and out of sight, the space that is in view will feel orderly and open.

Open the Way

With furniture and accessories blocking the view into a room and out to open spaces, a room will look cramped. By moving furniture out and away from walkways, you'll open up the space and make it feel larger. You can also choose short pieces of furniture like an ottoman, an armless, open chair, or a low table, and place large, tall pieces along a wall rather than out in the open space. If you can see the floor, the room will look larger.

Chooser Soft, Light Hues

Whereas dark, warm colors make a space feel cozy and intimate, light, cool colors make a space feel open and airy. For optimum effect, select soft tones of blues and greens.

Use a Monochromatic Color Scheme

Choose colors that are in the same color family and use tone-on-tone woven upholstery fabrics, textured wall finishes, delicate tonal drapery fabrics. Cool colors and delicate warm colors on most surfaces give the room a more open look.

Coordinate Wall and Furniture Colors

Contrasting colors tend to break up a space. Pieces of furniture are less interrupting and tend to blend with the space if they're colored to match the wall color.

Let in the Light

Any room will look larger if it's well-lit, either by natural light or artificial lighting. Get rid of heavy draperies and open up the windows to let the light of the outdoors into the space. Add more lamps or install track lighting or recessed lighting.

What paint colors would be ideal for a serene home office with Scandinavian-modern furniture and aesthetics?

Skylark

My stepmom is in the process of converting two small guest bedrooms into one large home office that is adjacent to a nursery. The room that is connected to the nursery (by a bathroom) is currently painted a medium-hued turquoise called Blue Ground by Farrow & Ball, and will serve sort of like the sitting area of the office. She adores the color, and will most likely keep it. The other room is wallpapered, but they're going to remove the paper and paint. There is still a partial wall up, so even though the space is open, there is a separation between the two rooms. This is why I think it would be nice to have the rooms two different colors that harmonize with one another. She is considering painting three walls a cloud white and having one accent wall with color.

All of the furniture that will go in the room has a Scandinavian-modern aesthetic to it, sort of like the IKEA style but higher quality. Most pieces are either white or blonde wood, and have clean lines. There is a lot of natural light streaming in. She is wanting the space to have a serene vibe to it with colors that are calming but not boring. We're in Southern California, so she's considering incorporating some ocean-inspired decor, like a driftwood coffee table and maybe sea glass colors, but it won't be like a "beach theme."

Do you have any paint color suggestions? Unfortunately, I'm in college several hours away, so I don't have any photos to share of the space.
This is the color of the room that is already painted: http://us.farrow-ball.com/blue-ground/colours/fcp-product/100210

Answer
I think I'd go for a light grey, either true grey or possibly a little on the blue side. It's certainly serene. It looks businesslike. It can go with an ocean theme. Think of the colour of an ocean just after a storm.
It will go with the furniture. A sand colour might be all right too but you'd have to be sure it goes okay with the blond wood. You could accuse grey of being boring, but it makes an excellent background colour and if you put an interesting piece of art or two on a wall, that will liven it up a lot.

I like that turquoise colour a lot too but combining with other colours is a bit tough without having it look like a kid's playroom. Anything red, pink, or coral is out. Yellow might work but it better be a very subdued yellow. Green just won't go. A medium blue might be okay but if it's too pale it will look cheap beside the turquoise and too dark will overwhelm everything else.

Q. I am trying to decorate a room for my 2 year old and new baby, they will be sharing. I am looking for theme ideas that can work for both my toddler and infant and for a couple years.

Mommies, silly question: Gender neutral enough?

Mommy!

My sister is doing a jungle themed room and chose not to find out the sex of her baby. I wanted to buy the baby a "Christmas present" (more like something to check off my sister's list before he/she gets her). I ordered this and it is such a pretty pastel blue, but I am having second thoughts. I know she can always send it back but I think I would use it more so for a boy.

What do you think? Gender neutral enough?
http://www.walmart.com/ip/Little-Bedding-by-NoJo-Jungle-Pals-4-Piece-Crib-Bedding-Set/14939156

Answer
I had a look at the link, that is so nice! I do think it would suit both a boy and a girl. Blue is fine for a girl anyhow (at least I think so for my future girl baby if God so blesses me with one), though I wouldn't let my baby boy wear pink. Pink accent on a blanket for a boy is alright though, and red patterns on clothing are ok too for boys clothing.

CHRISTINE

Ok so I have a 4 year old and an 11 year old step son, my 4 year old is soooooo afraid of sleeping in his room. Tells me that there are ghost that look at him through his window and walk through walls soooo I bought "special ghost paint" and redid his room (an outdoor theme, clouds trees grass, stars ect..) anyways his room is right next to my room upstairs. So even with the "ghost paint' my little one still manages to make it to my bed, now my 11 year old has his bedroom downstairs. Well both boys want to share the upstairs room, because the little one thinks its cool to have a roommate and I guess they can fight the ghost lol. My step sons room will now become the play room. I have a gut feeling that it might not be the best of ideas, since they are 7 years apart. Of course the two boys are sooo excited. What do you think?????

Answer
I think you should move the 4 yo downstairs with the 11yo to make is less appealing for him to come to your room. If they want to share a room and are excited then let them. just explain to them that if they do it they cannot undo it because you do not want to move them back in a few months. It is a big age difference but hey if they want to.. it will help you to move the 4yo DOWN stairs too instead of the 11yo up stairs.

15 year old teen girl birthday party?

Titi

Peace to every one I need I little help with my 15 year old birthday party theme .I was born November 3.um I am not sure what my theme should be please help me thank you peace ^.^

Answer
Sleep Over
A sleep over is the most classic girls-only birthday party possibility. Though it is usually associated with slightly younger girls, with the right venue, a sleep over can be the perfect option for a Sweet 15. A bedroom party is a traditional option. If there is a possibility of camping outside of the house or sleeping in a small office or cabin located on the property, that helps to add privacy and a more "grown up" feel to the party. If the party is held in a guest house or outdoor area, make sure you periodically supervise to ensure safety.

Beauty Party
A beauty party is ideal for 15-year old girls as they are coming into young adulthood. A trip to a spa for a group of girls can be very expensive. Creating an at-home spa or beauty parlor is both more economical and can last as long as you want. Set up counters or tables as accessory tables. Stock them with nail polish, makeup and hair styling tools. Making homemade facial masks is a fun way to get involved with the girls while at the same time allowing them to do something a little more "grown up." Mix together non-alcoholic fruity drinks and pour into cocktail glasses. Put on a favorite chic-flick film during or after the beauty session or put on some music. Small bottles of nail polish, shampoo, soaps, lip gloss and perfume can all be given as party favors.

Dance Party
A dance party is typical of preteens and high schools, especially if the girls are allowed to invite boys to the party. Community centers can be rented as a venue or simply set up the party in your back yard. All that is needed for a dance party is a general area, decorations such as balloons, lanterns or torches and of course music. Set up tables with small snacks and refreshing drinks as well as chairs for people to sit on in between dances. If the focus of the party is specifically on dancing, hiring a DJ to run the music show is the best option for variety, quality equipment and for the wow-factor.

Classy Restaurant
Hosting the party at a classy restaurant is a possible options for parties of around 10 guests or less. A dinner at a restaurant is fitting for a 15-year old girl as it represents the transition from little girl to young lady. Seating more than 10 at the same table in popular restaurants can be difficult, so call ahead by at least a week to make a reservation. You can receive and open gifts at the restaurant or take the party back to your house after dinner.

Beach or Park Party
Classic, casual and fun birthday parties never grow old even after 15 years of them. If you are looking for a simple idea and are looking to have a good time, having a classic beach or park picnic party are always options. Beach and park parties allow for outdoor activities such as swimming, Frisbee, catch, campfires, volleyball and even scavenger hunts. Serving classic hamburgers, hot dogs, sandwiches and ice cream is a universal crowd-pleaser.

Answer
If you're going to the Caribbean take at least 2 swimming suits. It's quite humid there and a suit will not dry overnight. Alternate your suits. Wear comfortable shoes, you walk quite a bit in port and the ship is very long from front to back so you walk a lot there, too. If you think you might need a tylenol/advil,band aid, digestive aids, feminine products, take your own along. They sell them in the gift shop, but they're outrageously priced. Same goes for your favorite candy or snack. You do not need to pack either bath or beach towels. They are supplied fresh daily for you.

Sunscreen is the most important item. The sun in the Caribbean is soooo powerful. Put it on at least 1/2 hour before you go into the sun. It takes that long for it to absorb into the skin and be effective. Many people, including me burn in less time than that.

Bring shorts and tops. Cute sundresses work well. Try to bring bottoms that match with more than one top. This will save space in your suitcase. Also, limit the number of shoes, if you're flying into your embarkation port, they're probably the heaviest items you have. Full sized shampoo, conditioner etc. are also too heavy. Get some travel sized bottles and jars and then fill them with your favorite products. I also took a 14 day cruise and hotel stays on both ends. I didn't finish my 100ml shampoo or conditioner. I had plenty. You may want to pack a hair dryer if your hair is especially long or thick. They do have hair dryers in every room but to my taste, they are really underpowered and take a long time to dry wet hair. I'm guessing that you are from the UK. If so, then you'll need an electrical adaptor so you can convert to US plugs.

PS. I have met so many kind, friendly people from the UK, Canada and around the world on my cruises. This is one of the best parts of cruising

Wishing you fair winds and following seas. (Smooth sailing)

What should I put in my suitcase [for teenage girls]?

Mount Ever

Never been abroad before , going to Germany for 5 days in summer holidays

What should I pack?

Answer
Having been abroad an awful lot i know about the dangers of over packing :P Don't pack an outfit for each day, you honestly won't wear them all. Think about what you wear day to day and how you can adapt that, here's a list,

1. 2 pairs of jeans (as long as they are clean they can be re-worn)
2. 3 t-shirts
3. 1 or 2 hoodies
4. 2 pairs of shoes at most, you will have a third from what you are traveling in.
5. If it could be cold then pack a small jacket (water proof helps in Europe, i live in the UK and it gets really rainy)
6. 5 pairs of socks, 5 pairs of underwear, 3 bras
7. Optional - A skirt or shorts since it will be summer, maybe a bikini if you plan to go to the beach.

Extras -
Don't buy travel sizes, they are a waste of money. If you want travel sized you can get empty bottles to fill with all the products you usually use.

1. Shampoo and conditioner, it helps if you get a 2 in 1 shampoo and conditioner to save space
2. Toothbrush and toothpaste
3. Shower gel or soap (soap saves more room)
4. Shavers/shaving gel or cream, if you use them
5. Deodorant, stick form saves space
6. Makeup, you can get foundations which have SPF so can act as a sun cream (only use if you won't be exposed to much sun), only take basics - Foundation, concealer, power, small eyeshadow pallet, mascara.
7. Sun cream, get a SPF that is according to the country your going to

Extras -

1. Any accessories you may want to wear, again the size is key. Don't bring lots, bring one or two pieces that can be mixed and matched for different outfits.
2. Books
3. Ipod or MP3 player (pack in carry on luggage)
4. Any medication you take.
5. Phone
6. Obviously your passport and tickets, any information you need for when you land, before you take off or when you arrive at your resort

http://www.lunabazaar.com/images/assets/decorating-paper-lanterns.jpg (i know it's not a bedroom....)

You could do so many different styles with this one, you could do animals prints, Zebra print goes with about any color!
You could do the hippie/indian type one with the gold and the bright color, maybe orange since pink isn't your favorite. (Somewhat like in the second picture)
You could do the paper lanterns, They look great! different colors and different level/heights look awesome!
Adding decorations would bring it to another level.

Hope i gave you some idea's :)

How much did it cost for your to furnish your place?

kids bedroom sets discount image

Dora

I'm wondering how much it would cost to furnish a 3 bedroom, 2000 sq. ft home. We're planning to buy all new furniture.

How much did it cost for you, and what furniture stores did you go to? Do you have a lot of hand-me-downs? Please include how many bedrooms you have and/or square footage.

Answer
Furnishing you home can be very expensive. I have a 1200 sq. ft home with 3 bedrooms and 2 baths. Furnishing the living room and the bedroom were the most expensive. These two rooms cost approximately $1500/room to furnish. All our furniture came from Rooms to Go. I waited on sales and discounts before making any big purchases. The kids room and guest room were less expensive to furnish. These rooms were less expensive because we didn't buy room packages and purchased the neccesities, such as just the bed and dresser or nightstand (s). The kids room and guest room cost approximately $800/room. Furnishings for these rooms came from Ikea. The dining room cost approximately $400. The dining room set came from the Room Store. I waited for sales and discounts before making any purchases here too. Most furniture stores have a family and friends day were they give the customer 10 to 20 percent off their products. Use the 10 to 20 percent coupon on a day when there is also a sale. You could save 200 to 500 dollars on furniture. Also, ask for free delivery specials; paying for delivery can get expensive. Note: When buying furniture packages, make sure the price is less than buying the pieces seperate. I found an error in a package price where the package price was more than if I bought the prices seperate. I saved myself an extra $100.

As far as hand me downs, I do not have any. However if you have old living furniture such as sofas, chairs, or loveseats, you can go to a furniture upholstery store or outlet and have you living furniture revamped in the style you want at a cost lower than buying new furniture. Your furniture will be custom.

Cheap Insulation for an Apartment wall that not too hard to put up or take down down besides draperies?

marlen4000

I live an apartment and cannot put in permanent insulation. My bedroom is on the right on the side of the street and long driveway where many cars pass by. It's also where people front door is so I get lost of noise. Please help me.

Answer
Several ideas:
Cloth of any type will deaden sound; the fluffier the better. You could tack up some old comforters. You could use carpet padding. You could find a furniture store or warehouse that throws away styrofoam sheets and use that.

I would go with the carpet padding. If you hang it vertically you could staple it up with a minimum of holes, then cover it with cheap flat sheets for better aesthetic appeal. Walmart sells reasonably priced sheets individually packaged, and you can get the carpet padding from a discount carpet dealer.

I would also recommend getting a white noise machine. My husband used one for years when he worked midnight shift. It really helped deaden the neighborhood noises and allowed him to sleep through lawnmowers, kids , barking dogs, etc. He liked the ocean wave setting. Here's an example of a noise machine:

What type of Birthday Party should I have?

Q. Oscar/Grammy's party~Wizard's party~A school life party~A safari themed party~if you have any more suggestions there welcome~also details for the party's will be great.

Answer
Well, you could:

Traditional Sleepover:
Have your choice of the amount of girls, maybe go out to eat, then rent some good movies, then gossip, maybe do your nails, or facials or something. or sneak out to teepee people, or play flashlight tag in the yard or park!

Cookout-
invite a huge group of people, and like "rent" a park or by a lake or something and have a huge cookout, set up volleyball nets, later play flashlight tag or hide n' seek, eat cake, open gifts, and maybe play some other games and just hang out

Hotel:
Rent a hotel room and have five friends or so stay there with you. way better if it has a pool. i did this one year and i had like 8 friends, we played in the pool, and in the lobby they had a mini arcade and mini golf thing we did,, and a workout room that we had fun in lol, and just hung out. One year my bff did it at a waterpark hotel, not a really expensive one, but it was pretty great. have lots of snack and order pizza!

For the more adventurous

Horses:
Maybe take a few friends and rent some horses and go trail riding! and have a picnic! or pay for a few of your friends and get lessons first! and fun new experience. horses are great. i have 2 of my own

Camping:
Take a few of your friends camping, go boating, or swimming, go exploring, make smores, have fun, even if its in your own backyard!

Where do people with super simple rooms and furniture keep their knickknacks?

I honestly want a super simple room. You know, just a bed... a bookshelf.... a dresser... a night table...
That would be pretty much it.
But where do people put their office supplies? I've seen many rooms as I went house tours. A LOT, if not all, had NO DESKS. Even if you're not a student, where do you keep those little things? A scissor, paperclips? erasers? Pencils? Coins? An exercise ball?
You know;.. those little things. I have a BUNCH of wallets, phone cases, some face masks, my dog's chew toy, random shopping bags.
What I'm talking about is... you know like in the movies, those rich houses in new york. Maybe like a huge open studio room. I love how it's all pretty much simple. But where do they keep their knickknacks!
I have so much crap....
I want to keep my room simple and clean but I need this huge dresser drawer thing to put all my crap in...

Answer
People who have collected several items do not have to display them all at once.
Think up on the wall storage for part of your collections.
Hang the shopping bags up in the closet if they are being used.If not, you cam frame them, one at a tome and use them to decorate your walls.

Las Vegas Hotels for family with 12 and 15 year old girls.?

violettpri

We are going to stop in Las vegas for a couple of nights after visiting California and I'm interested in 3 different hotels and wondering which one is best for my girls ages 12 and 15. The Excalibur, New York New York or The Paris. The Excalibur sounds more "kid friendly" but I like the looks of the Paris. Any advice on the restaurants at each hotel, rooms, pools and activities? Thanks!!

Answer
I have only stayed at Excalibur and Mandalay Bay. But Excalibur is definitely a great kid-friendly hotel. We took our two daughters last year and they were 2 and 6 at the time. My brother went with us and he was 12 and he loved it. There is a great arcade (Midway) downstairs with fun, affordable carnival games that are easy to win. We ended up walking away with a trash bag full of stuffed animals and pillows. The Tournament of Kings dinner show was their favorite. It is $60 per person but it includes a great dinner of game hen, broccoli, potato wedges, a pastry, and unlimited pepsi. They have 4 pools, one is devoted to adults only. Another one has small waterslides and a small waterfall, the water doesn't go deeper than 3 or 4 ft I believe in any of the pools, but its like that in most of Vegas. There is a food court that includes Quiznos, McDonalds, Pizza Hut, Krispy Kreme, and Starbucks. Restaurants- they have an Italian restaurant that is very affordable, a steak house that is a little more expensive, an average buffet with great prices, Dick's Last Resort, and Sherwood Forest Cafe which is a 24-hour Denny's type cafe, I love going there for breakfast.

I don't know much about NY NY but they do have an arcade and the roller coaster, but it is directly across the street from Excalibur so you can visit those attractions without having to stay there. Excalibur is connected to Luxor by indoor walkway which is connected to Mandalay Bay by what some say is the best shopping mall area in Vegas, Mandalay Place. MGM Grand is also across the street and next door to MGM Grand is the Showcase Mall with M&M World and Coca Cola World. Below them is Gameworks, a huge arcade.

Excalibur also has the best value on the strip. The hotel is not a luxury hotel, but it is really a decent hotel. If you upgrade to the Widescreen room ($10-$20 more per night) you wouldn't even know you weren't staying in a luxury hotel. It has beautiful warm decor, a 42" widescreen TV, and marble countertops in the bathroom. Check the best rates here http://smartervegas.com/hotels/excalibur/promotionalcodes.aspx
If you don't see a deal you can use, just keep checking it because they update it often, also sign up for email offers from Excalibur.com.

Hope this helps!

Any unique fairy theme bedroom decorating ideas for 2 little girls?

We are remodeling our girls' room and they are wanting a fairy theme. We already have the walls painted white with an allover sponge effect done in pink, so I'd like to mainly stick to that color and perhaps incorporate a bit of purple too. I'm looking for some creative ways to decorate using this theme. I am very crafty, so I would love to hear some DIY ideas although any other "thrifty" ideas are great too, since we are also remodeling our boys' bedroom as well and are on a strict budget. Thank you!

Answer
If it isn't too expensive, you can paint the crown molding the lavender or purple to add dimension. You can go to the halloween stores online now while the stuff is cheap or to Lillian Vernon and Oriental Trading Company and find the Fairy Wings that come in Costumes and Hang them above their beds or in the corner of the room.

There is this craft I made with my daughter a few years back of these flower fairies: with wooden beads as heads, pipe cleaner as bodies, and silk flowers as dresses. You can probably google it and find it easy enough but they can be hung up with fishing wire. Very cute.

Also think about painting the ceiling with a bunch of fluffy white clouds or hanging a cute chandelier you can get a garage or estate sale.

Oh yeah! I had one of those bed canopies on my daughters bed for years! Totally forgot about that!

Anyone know a website with idea's for decorating a girls bedroom?

Housewife

I asked in a different section but got no answers...

When I google girls bedroom it comes up with all fancy rooms, there is no way we have the money to do them.
Does anyone know any websites where I can look at plain rooms to get ideas?

Answer
We did a mural. It was cheap, it was a blast and it came out great. We didn't go with any particular theme, because they outgrow characters so quickly. What we did was paint the walls lavender, paint a picket fence around the room, then we did online searches for girly things like ballerinas, butterflies, etc. We printed them out full-paper size and cut them out reverse (ie., stencil) and splotched away - by doing so were able to paint some great characters around the room. Best of all it looked professional and artistic. Like we knew what we were doing! For finishing touches we added flowers popping through the picket fence, and put some 3D touches up: We painted a simple kite, but put a real ribbon on it for a tail; we have decorative wrapping paper kind of string on the ballet slippers we painted, etc. I did a lion and it looks SO HARD to do, but it really wasn't. The lion has a "real" bow in her hair for that 3D effect. If you have a FB add me, I have an album you can see, it's all pictures from her room.

We did a similar one for our son. We rag rolled brown, green and green for a cammo look and I did a search for army guys and tanks that I printed out. Those stencils I planned to do just in black around the room, but he likes it the way it is, so I just put those aside for now. When/if he wants to add them, it'll be simple.
