Someone Please Answer. It's Driving me crazy!?

the usual

So, i had this dream a couple of months ago and I suppose it's safe to say that i'm obsessed with it. I think about it all the time. It practically invades my thoughts. So here it is.
It started out with me in this garage. I was looking for a baseball (i don't play baseball so i don't know.) The walls of the garage were wooden, but it was painted red. There was shelves of tools, and tools hanging up on hooks. There was a built-in bench made of wood that was painted red as well. The garage was connected to the house. There was a brown station wagon parked in garage. Even though they weren't in the dream, i knew that these people lived there. There was the wife, who had blonde hair and the husband who was a bit heavy set, and was bald on top. The blonde-haired wife had glasses. (May I mind you, i don't have any idea who these people are in real life.) I felt like I knew this house. I knew every aspect of it. I felt like I was in a different time period, as if it was the late 80s. I found the baseball and since the garage door was open, I darted out into their drive way. I was in this neighborhood that seemed very familiar. As if I lived there myself. There were houses lining the streets, and garbage cans in the road. Basketball nets, etc. But nobody was around. Nobody in sight. I heard birds chirping, but that's it. Suddenly, I blink my eyes and I'm inside the house whose garage, I was just in. I was in their son's bedroom. The bedroom had the walls were painted blue. His shades were down. The closet door was wooden-brown, along with his bedroom furniture. The border of the room was brown wood too. I felt like I knew this kid, and his bedroom. The kid was a year older than me so that'd make him 15. He had blonde hair, and he was actually rather good looking. His bedsheets were plaid, and he had a twin mattress. He had a small RCA tv on his dresser that had "Different Strokes" on. And we were sitting on his bed talking about how we both like that show. I remember him having this poster on his wall, that said "Flotsam and Jetsam" which I have no idea what the hell "Flotsam and Jetsam" is. It seemed to be some sort of band, that I don't know. For some reason that song, "Bennie and The Jets" was playing in the background, as if it was coming from downstairs. His door was shut. Then suddenly, he stands up and walks by the door and goes "You can't be here! This isn't yours! Get out! You can't do anything here! Please go!" and he starts panicking. So, me I'm just sitting on his bed and I'm like "What?!" and then I realize that I have no idea where I am and I start to worry. He shrugs and then he comes over to me and like I'm sitting at the edge of his bed. He acts like he's about to kiss me so I lean back. He starts smiling and says something like "this is really bad. i dont even know why your here. this is crazy" and the dream ends. I feel like I know this kid. It's annoying the hell out of me. He has dark brown eyes, and a small birthmark on his arm. Everything is so detailed. Everything. And for some strange reason I feel like the house/neighborhood I'm dreaming about is somewhere in Nassau County, Long Island where my aunt lives? I know, I know. I sound crazy. But I know for a fact that this dream takes place in the late 80's, and I know for a fact that this person is an adult right now. I don't know why I keep thinking about this. Considering this dream happened in March, and It's now August and I'm only 14 and this is really scaring me. I really think about it all the time. I don't know my feelings about this person. As if i love them or something. I don't know. Its strange. Someone tell me what this means.

Answer
I don't know if it helps you, but the terms "flotsam and jetsam" refer to ships' goods which are lost at sea. It's also used figuratively in non-nautical contexts to means odds and ends, bits and pieces. Flotsam has to do with things lost at sea because of the sea. Jetsam has to do with things lost at sea because the crew purposely disposed of them.

This may give you some insight into the dream. Perhaps these are odds and ends of your subconscious mind floating to the top.

Additionally, the song "Bennie and the Jets" came out in the early 1970's. There is a line in the song that talks about fighting with parents. Your random conflict with the boy, followed by the kiss and make up idea may have to do with your relationship with your parents. Perhaps you have conflicts with them in which you are puzzled by their reactions.

The show Different Strokes also deals with changing and strange familial relationships. Therefore, I would really interpret this dream as it relates to your own personal family and your relationship with them.

Dreams, even when they mean something specific, speak to that specific thing through symbols. I wouldn't get hung up on who this specific boy is and who his specific parents are, but rather of who or what they are symbolic.

What does this dream mean!?

Put your bed in the middle of a wall then put your bureau next to or across from it then put your desk across or next to doesn't matter.... it would look better if your desk was across
then you want some cushions in a corner or something

What theme should my bedroom decor be?

Clair

I have tan walls and bought a cream bedspread that's really fluffy and has some pin tucking on it. I have hardwood floors and wood furniture.

Some themes I've been considering are

beachy, light blue accent color, a big picture of a beach

oriental, cherry blossom curtains, deep red accent collr, a picture of a pagoda

cozy, olive green curtains & accent color, picture of cedar trees or something similar

french, fluffy table lamps, light pink accent color, picture of Eiffel tower

I think it'd be really cute if I had a big cream shag rug on my floor and those little lanterns that hang from your ceiling..

any ideas?

Answer
The beach theme would be nice. You do not have to be so literal in your decorating.A picture of the beach is not necessary.Accents would work better.
A rattan headboard is a nice idea :http://p2.la-img.com/196/20669/7082821_1_l.jpg

Where's a place where I can find cute teen bedroom decor for a cheap price?

Genevieve

I'm looking for basically everything: bedding, beds, desks, chairs, dressers, accessories, ect. I LOVE all the furniture from PB Teen, but it's all so expensive. I think I might try ebay or amazon or some site like that. Do you know any other good sites?

Answer
I love IKEA for kids bedrooms, but being the time of year that it is and that you are looking for a room for a teen, I would check out Target. With kids going back to school and going to college I've noticed some great deals on bedding sets, with cooresponding organization items. I have bought things on Walmart.com for my sons room as well, I just purchased a nice headboard, dresser and side table from Walmart.com and had it shipped site to store and it cost me around $259 total with tax. They had a matching desk, but I didn't get it because we have an office in our house.

What are some good websites that sell cool kids bedroom sets?

Q. I'm buying a new house and I have three kids that I want to decorate their rooms with some cool furniture that they can have fun with and it will last them.

Does your kids bedroom have a theme?

SmEllY!

My daughters bedroom at the moment is kinda jungle themed with a very faint green colour on the walls (was like that when we moved in) and I just put removable jungle animals everywhere and there is a big bright 3D canvas elephants wall hanging and a green stripey rug on the floor. We are moving house and next year want to have another baby, we are hoping the new baby is a boy in which case he can have the jungle theme and my daughter can have something else. The problem is that I already have her toddler bed and it has the little mermaid on it, I HATE ARIEL!! I can't stand it but Im not throwing it away, we havent even used it yet, I was thinking maybe an under the sea theme for her? She likes fish and she loves nemo, but would her room look stupid with nemo and various other fishy things and then a stupid Ariel right in the middle? Sorry I really hate ariel.

Answer
aww ariel was always my fav. >.<' but anyway i think as long as you went with fish that were cartoonish looking it would be perfectly fine. why not try to use all the disney underwater charaters? or try to just use all the disney princesses and not use an underwater theme?

i dunno about the bed but couldnt you strip it or repaint it? sand her off? though that depends on how deep shes carved in. or if nothing else put something over ariel? a big sticker/picture that was blown up or something? anyway best of luck ^_^ im sure you'll figure it out.

Pretty under-the-sea bedroom for a little girl?

Lilianna

My little sister is turning 4 in 1 month, and the ONLY thing she wants for her birthday is for her room to be re-decorated. My mom has 2 infants and 3 preschool-aged kids, and me (I'm 13), so she really can't find the time to re-decorate my sister's room so she asked me if I could "help her", which means do it for her. LOL.

Ok, so my sister has made it clear that she ONLY wants an under-the-sea room, ever since she saw raven's rotating shell bed in that's so raven. The problem is, I'm really bad at decorating stuff (you should see my room *rolls eyes*) so I have no idea what to do. She doesn't want mermaids because she hates Ariel (long story) and I think sharks would scare her.

Ok well sorry to bother you on Easter but if I keep putting this off it'll be too late and... well... let's just say that when my sister's b-day comes along things won't be pretty.

Princess themed bedroom(NOT for a little girl)?

Sarah

I'm a teen girl (16) and I'm kinda starting a princess theme in my room. And I don't want to end up looking like a six year olds room. What I mainly need help with is well... Okay I have a wall with a big mirror then I have a wal decor quote right above it that says "yes, you are the fairest of them all" have two glass squared shelves on either side of the mirror. I have yet to put anything inside yet because I can think or find something princess or fairy tale like to put in it that doesn't make it seem like a child's room. So what should i put in them to carry on my theme ? Thank you very much !

Answer
Be careful not to get too carried away with the theme, as with things that say 'princess' literally, that's where it gets little girlish. Instead, concentrate on how a fairytale princess room would look. Purple is a color of royalty, think dark purple bedding in a lush fabric like velour or a very soft microfiber, satiny drapes in dark purple, a large bejeweled mirror, a collection of small decorative mirrors all grouped together closely, crystal lamps and a crystal chandelier in place of your ceiling light, lots of satiny and velour/microfiber throw pillows on your bed in pink, a lacey 'canopy' over your bed, (it doesn't need to be a canopy bed, you can hng it like a swag from your ceiling, draping down the sides), a pink or ivory slipper chair, feather boa draped over something, and lots of sparkle. If purple isn't your favorite color,a wine color or burgandy would look royal as well. As for your square boxes, think bejeweled, a tiara, large diamond-like necklace, or other sparkly accessories. And what princess doesn't have a bejeweled jewelry box in her princess room? Add a lush area rug for your tootsies and your set. Pier 1 is a great place to find a lot of these things. Or get to a craft store and bejewel what you already have. Sounds wonderful.

Vintage Girl Bedroom?

bruyre

I am looking for a bedding that is vintage and artsy like this:
http://weheartit.com/entry/5320645
or this:
http://weheartit.com/entry/5310812

but I can't find any like them. Sites or links would be great. also if you know how I could go about setting up my room like this:
http://weheartit.com/entry/3477172
like where to get the sheets over the bed and the string of lanterns that size. Also any other design tip you would think look good in the room. Thanks!

Answer
Try Anthropology's home store (though it does tend to be a little expensive)
http://www.anthropologie.com/anthro/catalog/category.jsp?navAction=jump&navCount=0&id=HOME
if you want something a little less expensive, try Urban Outfitters apartment section
http://www.urbanoutfitters.com/urban/catalog/category.jsp?popId=&navAction=poppushpush&isSortBy=true&navCount=27&pushId=APARTMENT&id=A_DECORATE

Both of these places have bedding, decor, and furniture that achieves that bohemian/indie/vintage look you are going for.
follow this link for the lanterns:
http://www.japanesestyle.com/catalog/partywedding/bulk-paper-lanterns
regarding the canopy style thing-- just take 2 or 3 pieces of light (not heavy) fabric of your choice that each piece should be twice the length of your bed. you can either put thumbtacks over the 4 corners of your bed on your ceiling or nail in the fabric in whatever drape-ish fashion you like.
regarding the decor: hit the second hand shops and vintage stores, they will have cool but cheap artsy papers and art that you can hang on your walls. Also, find some photography that you like and pin it all over your walls (magazine clippings will do)
also, find a pretty tapestry (they sell them at urban outfitters or vintage stores) that you like and hang it on the wall, use it as rug, or a blanket.
last but not least: dont be matchy matchy! vintage bohemian style is all about different colors and patterns coming together to create one artsy and pretty room. dont be afraid to take risks!

Any bedroom decor ideas?

Steph

I am trying to decide on a style for my bedroom. I have a husband so it can't be too girlie for his sake (no Shabby chic). I have narrowed it down to a few: French Country, Caribbean/Tropical or Japanese. What do you guys think? Any ideas are welcome.

Answer
I would pick Country French for a few reasons. One, no matter what direction you pick later your CF pieces will most likely work.

Two, this classic and warm style is easy to put together on a budget and is equally appealing to men and women. There are so excellent catalogs to look at for CF--try Ballards, Provence and even Target has Toile accessories to complete your picture.

The other advantage is slightly "distressed" pieces from unlikely sources can easily work, so the style is a budget friendly one.

Japanese is trendy but could be over soon. Also, unless you love to live minimally that style is super hard to maintain as clean uncluttered lines are at the heart of it.

Tropical is a little too weekend at Disney after a while, although short term it could be fun.

CF will be a long term look you can add to down the road, mix up, change up and live with. Good luck with your project--and don't forget to ask your husband's opinion once and a while (even if you end up not listening).

my bedroom is plain and boring?

pv2will

im recently single in a new place with roommates all i have in my room is a big flat screen tv a cali king bed and a cheepo night stand i picked up at a 2nd hand store im 28 and looking for any ideas

Answer
What is important to you? This bedroom is your private space, and it should reflect who you are. Men tend to be very minimalist and conservative in their decor, which is fine. But a large picture on one wall can add lots of interest to the room. You can find these at import stores as well as hobby stores. Or, you could make a grouping of smaller pictures with a common theme. This is especially good if you take your own photographs, because the group can be a point of conversation. Keep the photos together though, because this gives them importance.

Sounds like you need furnitureâ a dresser, or chest of drawers at least. It does not matter if the styles do not match. You can make them work together by choosing a common colorâ all light or all dark wood. A common color can also make disparate fabrics work together. An upholstered chair with the same coloring as the bedding and curtains, even if one fabric is a print while the other fabric is solid, plaid or striped. The different pattern will give interest to the room. Basically, design is about giving the eye places to focus on briefly while providing an overall continuity.

Ideas for kids bedroom and building shelves!!!!?

Christen

We live in a beautiful home only the 2 extra bedrooms aren't very big. I need ideas on how to better store stuff so my sons room is more roomy and better organized. I plan on making a huge wall shelf that goes up high on the wall and painting it navy blue and getting red canvas containers and putting up there to hold some stuff and decorating it with the sports theme and a couple stuffed animals. Its gonna be huge. I'm excited about my project but maybe you got better ideas or more ideas on how to make my sons room amazing. Eye appealing and organized. Thanks for all the help I can get.

Answer
A kid's bedroom should feel safe, comfortable and have a touch of whimsy. Important considerations are the child's age and interests. If your child is a book lover, collector of Beanies, dolls or baseball memorabilia, you can honor these interests by creating a special space in her room. With your guidance, your child and you can make a great decorating team.

Step 1

Have a chat with your toddler. Does he have a favorite superhero or cartoon? A favorite color? Your son will always remember your respect for his opinion, so this is an important first step.

Step 2

Paint the room and a few furniture pieces to match the walls, such as a bedside table and a headboard.

Step 3

Decorate your toddler's room with bright colors of your (and his) choosing. Find some "big kid" furnishings. Toddlers are learning to dress themselves, so find a short dresser with big knobs. Paint them in bright colors. This allows toddlers to easily pull out the drawers and experience choices in the way they dress.

Step 4

Place a group of cubbies on the floor or hang them on the wall at a height that's reachable for your toddler. Paint them in bright colors, and label them in big letters for things like crayons, books, Playdoh, etc. Cubbies are a great way for kids to learn groupings of objects and organizing. If they go to daycare, they can put their daily arts and crafts projects away in their cubbies until you hang them up later.

Step 5

Frame their artwork. Choose a group of colorful, inexpensive frames and put your child's best pieces into them. Hang them where your child can admire them while dozing off to sleep.

Step 6

Purchase a large toy box at an unpainted furniture store. Paint it in colors that suit your child's tastes. You and your child can paint it together, or he might want to put handprints in different colors all over the box.

Step 7

Choose bedding in colors that complement the paint on the walls and other furnishings. Clashing colors and too much busy-ness should be avoided. Even kids need an oasis.

Step 8

Lay out a soft rug near his bed, especially if you have hardwood flooring. It's a nice way for little toes to meet a new day.

Step 9

Make a space for their collections. Bookshelves can store more than books--they're also a good way to showcase memorabilia. Hang pictures of superheroes, cartoon characters and sports figures or place them on shelves.

Step 10

Realize the importance of consulting with your grade-schoolers or preteens before you decorate their bedrooms. Many preteens will love taking more responsibility for a project like this. It allows them to express their individuality and even show off some innate design skills. Encourage and support their good choices, and provide the structure where needed.

Step 11

Find a big, soft chair or a bean bag and put it near a window or in a corner. It's place where a child, no matter what age, can dream, read or listen to music.

For storage:

Step 1

Make More Storage Space in the Closet

Adding additional rods for hanging clothes is a way to make more storage space in the closet.
⢠Take the existing clothes rod and re-install it at the height where dresses, pants, house coat, or other long items will hang just so they are off the ground.
⢠Install an additional rod above the first rod so shirts, skirts, suit jackets and shorter items will hang.
⢠Organize the clothes on each rod by color, season, etc.

Step 2

More Shelves Make More Storage Space

Instead of piling items on top of each other on one shelf, add shelves.
⢠Look in the closet, pantry, kitchen, and bathroom to see if more shelves can be added.
⢠Most existing shelves can be moved up or down a notch to provide the space necessary to hold items properly and provide room for additional shelves.
⢠Take all items off the shelves and organize according to height or how much the item is used.
⢠Start with the lowest possible position and put the most used items on the shelf.
⢠Place the second shelf one â two inches above the items on the lowest shelf and place the next items.
This will create more storage space for linens, clothes, food, cleaning items, etc.

Step 3

Storage Space - Canned Good Container

Make More Storage Space â Use Storage Containers

Storage containers can be plastic totes that stack on top of each other or pre-made units for closets, pantries, or other places in the home.
⢠Look around the home to see where items may be stacked and determine what needs to be stored appropriately to make more space.
⢠Look at a local hardware or retail store to find a storage container to properly store those items. Spice racks, canned good units, stackable closet drawers, DVD/CD storage units, under-the-bed containers for off-season clothes are all items that will create more space.
⢠Place items in the storage container and see how organization creates more space.

Step 4

Walls Make Storage Space

Answer
With the advent of disposable furniture from famous brands like Ikea and the like, poor quality seems to be accepted as normal. It is not normal, necessary, or environmentally responsible. A properly made bedroom set should last a lifetime. Go to any antique exhibition and you will see sets that are hundreds of years old. Mission furniture, which originated in Great Britain, is still made to last a lifetime. There is wide verity to choose from at www.barnfurnituremart.com
Authentic Mission style furniture also known as Arts and Crafts furniture is a timeless choice. When it is made using the traditional methods that make it, truly authentic it is a bulletproof choice. You will have something that will last and last. Many stores sell Mission Style furniture that is not made in the traditional way using solid oak. Instead, they use what they call solid wood. That is code for particleboard. Baloney IS meat. The Barn Furniture sells Mission furniture built with the traditional methods in a multitude of price ranges
If you plan on only keeping your furniture for 1 to 5 years and treat your furniture with kid gloves Ikea may be a good choice, however, ask anyone that has had Ikea furniture for a while or attempted to move it. It tends to auto destruct upon moving. Those cam lock type assembly hardware just don't like to be moved. What makes it fairly inexpensive is what makes it poor quality. The whole thing is about freight and warehouse space. This should NOT YOUR PROBLEM. In my humble opinion, virtually all assemble yourself furniture is inferior quality mostly made of particleboard filled with formaldehyde.

Beachside Bedroom Decor?

Tori

I'm redoing my bedroom. I want it to look like a surfer/ beachside bedroom. I have light colored hard wood floors. I'm going to paint my room and get all new accessories.
What color should I paint my room? & what color bedding, rugs, & curtains? Also what accessories should I get? Lamps, signs, ect?

Answer
Colour scheme: go for light blue or sky blue for the walls but you could have one wall in a sand colour or maybe a sunset. Dark blue for bedding and maybe a rug in the same colour.

You could get an indoor palm tree style plant. Instead of curtains you could get bamboo style (or another woody look) blinds, use a see through multicoloured (with light blue, darkblue, sea green, sand) voile curtain over the blinds so you can draw the blinds up in the day and draw the voile curtains closed to give you privacy without blocking any light.

Have a look at these for some inspiration:

I am pregnant but I am adopting a 7 year old girl, a 9 year old boy, 1 year old twin boys and a 2 week baby girl. What is needed in each room.
I have a 15 bedroom home have been happily married for 1 year. We are adopting 4 kids a 7 year old girl, 9 year old boy and 1 year old twin boys plus im pregnant and a 2 week old baby girl. Im in need of help, my family has adopted lots of children, and I love all my adopted family members. My husband is a lawyer and a part time cop. So I have alot on my mind.

Answer
Craigslist is great for a lot of furniture on a budget as for decor I have a toddler and a 9 year old because there tastes change so regularly I pick a color pallet and then add a couple small inexpensive character items from there favorite movie, show...etc. our 9 year old was big into brats and we did her room in hot pink and royal purple added some brats throw pillows, posters, and wall decals. Now she is into Hanna Montana and the only thing we have to change are the little accent items. We started our baby's room off in flowers butterflies bunnies and lady bugs now she loves tinker bell it goes great with all the stuff she already has. just try to keep it generic for the most part Good luck! Hope this helpsâº

**Edit**
For the older kids loft bed are wonderful. They have desk shelves and drawers built in I know at walmart.com they have some pretty cute ones for about 500.

So Im a teenager and im moving to a new house, and the walls are cement, etc. everything is ready we just have to choose a color or colors to paint my room. The bed, desk and the basic furniture are all black (should i change it to white?) And if u have any pictures of rooms please put the link.

Best to paint one wall in your fave color as your accent wall and the remaining walls a bright color. Then add colorful decor. Too many bold colored walls can make a room look child-like. -wish I knew if you were a guy or girl ?

For ex. an aqua room with purple accent wall and black furniture

Can you tell me some ways to organize a kid's room in a pretty way?

Can you tell me some ways to organize a kid's room in a pretty way?

Answer
Creating a jungle theme kids bedroom is an opportunity to use really fun colors and prints. Consider painting the room a fresh green or a bright yellow to provide a warm and exotic backdrop for the rest of the room's elements.

Instead of typical window treatments, think about getting some silk vines and foliage from the craft store and draping them around the windows as you would with a scarf curtain. Then perch stuffed parrots or monkeys nearby to round out the jungle canopy effect.

You can use jungle themed bedding, or simply use bright solids and stripes, and accent the room with throw pillows in animal-print fabrics. There are several sources for wall stickers in a jungle theme to add even more visual interest.

Fairy Tale Princess Themes

Many elements of décor for little girls' rooms lend themselves to dreaming of once upon a time and far, far away. From canopy beds to eyelet and lace and pale pink, you may already have many of the elements in place to make your daughter's room a real Princess's room. To bring the fantasy one or two step closer to reality, rely on some paint techniques and a few choice accessories.

Paint the ceiling a sky blue and sponge paint on some clouds; turn the walls of your girl's room into castle walls with faux painting techniques, and embellish them with stenciled runners of ivy â you can even add some silk ivy from the craft store for additional dimension. Swath tulle or silk flowers where you'd otherwise put a valance and curtains, and be sure to add a stuffed frog prince someplace in the room ⦠just for a bit of whimsy!

How about doing some of your own artwork for the walls? See here and look at the bottom of the page and you will see a quilt similar to yours - but this is quite a nice idea, but if you can't paint - look for some fabric remnants and some blank artists canvases and cut the fabric so it goes around the back of the canvas and just staple at the back - these can look nice in a mixture of fabrics, patterned and plain. Have a look here to give you an idea:

How should I decorate my boys room?

Q. I have a 8, 3 and 3 month old in the same bedroom. I want to move but the 3 bedroom apt are full and we can't afford a house right now.

Answer
A decorating theme is a great way to begin decorating a room for a child. If you're like most parents, you've probably spent lots of time thinking about decorating your new child's room even before he joined your family. While bunnies are cute and teddy bears are darling, you might want something different for the bedroom or playroom.

There are lots of great themes for boys' rooms. A special theme will provide both the focus and the inspiration for a special one-of-a-kind room and can be adapted as your child grows. Time to get started!

Bug's Life
From bees and ants to frogs and reptiles, creatures of nature often capture a child's attention. Browse theme ideas at Posh Tots including a Bug Off Table and Chair Set, Bug bed linens, and or frog lamp.

Favorite Animals
What boy wouldn't love a room focusing on his favorite pet? Whether it's a dog or cat, bird or snake, using this theme will make your son (and his pet) feel particularly at home. Be sure to put up lots of pictures with your son and his best friend around the room and make sure you have stuffed animals scattered everywhere.

Playhouse / Playtown
This theme will provide a wonderful scheme for decorating your son's room and provide lots of wonderful playtime possibilities as well. A whimsical or the cute playtown chest can be your starting point. Or, do a border in kids designs or paint a mural of a street scene on one or more walls. Name the storefronts for family members ("Katie's Groceries", "Ted's Puppet Theatre", "Todd's Bike Shop", "Anne's Pet Heaven", "Sara's Video Den", or Dennis' Book Nook").

Safari
For a safari look, find wonderful, colorful animal wallpaper borders and fabrics at any wallpaper store. Paint the walls blue, tan, ivory, or any of the colors in your wallpaper border. Make pillows and valances from coordinating leopard-print fabrics, and find some stuffed lions and tigers for the corner. Mount a butterfly net, binoculars, or straw hat on the walls. Use colorful matboard and frame some of your child's artwork to display. Maybe he'll draw some lions!

Rustic Cabin
Most every child loves spending time at camp or in the mountains. And what parent doesn't have happy childhood memories of hiking, boating, fishing, or just enjoying the outdoors. Birdhouses, bears, moose, and fish might show up in wallpaper borders, in fabrics, bedding, and accessories. For a rustic room you might also choose comfy plaid patterns, flannel fabrics, and log or pine beds. Accessories might use forest themes of animals, mountain scenes, or natural materials such as pine cones, leaves, and sticks. Take another cue from camp and use a sturdy trunk to store toys. With a room this nice, who needs a vacation?

Rain Forest
Choose a colorful jungle border, or try a jungle area rug. Soft fabric snakes and colorful stuffed birds or butterfly cutouts can add to the decor. Make pillows of animal or jungle prints and use themed accessories. Grrr!

Race Cars
With car racing, you think black and white checkered flags, and a finish line. Find an area rug with a car track design. A car bed might be fun, or decorate the walls with a car wall appliques. Add some framed calendar photos or posters of race cars, and put up narrow shelving to display car collections. Zoom!

Outer Space
Take a trip to the stars using a space theme. An Apollo bed set, outerspace border, or star-studded rocking chair might be just the items that inspires your child to reach for the stars. Paint reflective planets or stars on the ceiling in arrangements of the constellations.

Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines
If Dad is in the service, you might let your boy feel patriotic with a room painted in camouflage and outfitted with tanks and desert colors.

Sports
From soccer to baseball to football, sports is a theme that spans the generations. To use a baseball theme for example, use a headboard made from bats, hang curtains from bats used as curtain rods, make a baseball lamp, or hang shelving to display gloves, pennants, and trophies. Paint the room in the colors of your son's favorite team. Sports themed rugs, furniture, and beds are another possibility. Create similar looks for other sports, and you'll have a room that is a big "hit" with sports fans. Play ball!

Wild Colors
Go wild by starting with a lively area rug designed in fun colors for a child. Take your cue from the rug for colors and designs for the rest of the room. Use color everywhere! Paint every surface of a bookcase a different color, and do the same with headboard slats, drawer fronts, and chair legs. This is a great way to help your little one learn his colors! Find a fabric to compliment the rug and use it to tie the room together with window valances or floor pillows.

Movie or Cartoon Characters
There's something for everyone in this theme! Whether your son has been captivated by Mickey Mouse, Alladin, Lion King, Toy Story, or Scooby Doo -- you'll probably be able to find bedding, lamps, and other decorative items that use these themes. Towels for the bathroom and toys will be easy to add.

Pirates
The story of Peter Pan can inspire creative parents to design a wonderful room. Boys intrigued by the notion of pirates will love a room using blue ocean themes, ship masts, portholes, netting, treasure boxes, and secret play hideaways.

Knights and Castles
Artistic parents can faux paint castle walls, murals, and blue skies for a truly memorable room. Use the theme of "A Sword in the Stone" or "Camelot" for inspiration. Find another take on this theme offered by for Mercy's Sake in their Galahad collection.

Trains, Planes, and Automobiles
There are lots of colorful choices in bedding, fabrics, and wallpaper that feature transportation themes. Make a train track border around the room, hang airplanes from the ceiling, or go wild with a car-shaped bed.

Cowboy Kids
This is a fun theme where you can let your imagination run wild. Think bandana valances, chaps wall hangings, tin stars, horses, rope borders, and more. The baby dude designs offered by for Mercy's Sake offer some fun possibilities. Or check out OliveKids.com Camp Wilderness or the Wild West theme designs from PoshTots.com for more creative examples of this theme and products to add to your decor.

Dinosaurs
From cute and stylized to realistic and ferocious -- dinosaurs themes are still popular. If you suspect this is a passing phase for your little one, then opt for solid color bedding and walls, using theme elements in borders, sheets, valances, and posters.

Need ideas--Redecorating room for 4 yo boy/girl twins!?

treefor3

I'm looking for creative ideas for redecorating my 4 year old boy/girl twins' bedroom. They've outgrown their toddler beds and the babyish nursery decor. We're planning to get them bunk beds and I'd like to update the room. My boy is all "boy"--trucks and cars and the like--and my girl is all "girl"--pink and princesses and ponies. They do share a common love of animals, so I was thinking of doing some sort of animal theme. Any suggestions?

Any Ideas for a James Bond or Spy themed Room?

Q. I want to make my Bedroom Spy/James Bond themed but I have absolutely no Ideas. Can Anyone help?

Answer
You totally need gadgets. Maybe a mural with the spiral thing at the beginning of James Bond. You can also click on the links below for some cool ideas about books that are hollow and so forth. You could find a way to hide the bed (the old murphy beds?), Maybe find a way to hook up some red LED lights across the room so it looks like trip wires from movies. You could also make him a little desk that hides or turns into something else, somewhere he can put his spy gear. You can paint the door so it looks liks just part of the rest of the room. A bookdcase that turns into something else. I don't know. Some of the ideas are out there, but it is a good place to start. Maybe do his bedding like a tux that James Bond would wear. Ok..now I am getting out there. Good Luck. Check out the sites.

Hello Kitty Bedroom Ideas!?

Katrina

So far, this is what I have:

My room is currently hot pink (Flex Bon Fuchsia Kiss) and my bedding is the Peace Kitty set from Amazon.com ( http://www.amazon.com/Hello-Kitty-Peace-Full-Comforter/dp/B003ZSH4EO ). I have a full-sized bed with a white headboard and footboard. I also have two white bookcases in my room (one on each side of my door). One is skinny, has three glass shelves, three drawers, a shelf, then a cabinet on bottom which houses all of my cat's stuff (litter, food, toys, etc). The other, which is a lot wider, has a glass shelf, a space for the TV, then a fold out desk with a glass shelf, then three drawers on bottom. My room is very tiny (9' x 10' with my bedroom door in the middle of one 9' wall. I have no closet so I use the hall closet for my clothing and things). I have one window in my room with is directly across the room from the door.

I was thinking about getting one of those TV tables and adding some HK decals to it, and then painting the legs in some bright color. I donât use the fold out desk, except for storage of school things, so I want the TV table so I can use it as a desk while sitting on my bed). I have some under-bed storage containers for things, that I added some HK decals too. I have plain white sheer curtains (which I want to change), a few glass photo frames, and a few misc colored frames, which I plan on painting (spray paint). I don't have enough room to add seating to my room. I have a tall pink floor lamp. I also have two small white wall shelves which some picture frames sit on with some HK figurines. I plan to get two more shelves that match the ones I currently have and put two on each side of my window. Both sides will have pictures and HK figurines on them. I also have a shadow box which has some HK mini figurines in it. I have a coat hook on my door where I hang my bath robe, coat, and my school tote.

I want to put a hamper somewhere in my room. Maybe at the foot of my bed, behind the foot-board?

Anyone else have any ideas?

TIA!
* I got some really rude and nasty answers yesterday. If you seriously have nothing to add, don't. I will report you. *
Jenny - That Zipper-robe is cute, but is way to small for all of my clothes. The hall closet is quite large! It is a walk in closet. Plus, it's already super organized!

Answer
Hey, I know your room is small, but if you re arranged it and had a clear out you'd have a lot more space, so do this first.

Invest in this zipperobe for your clothes:

http://www.amazon.co.uk/s/?ie=UTF8&keywords=hello+kitty+zipperobe&tag=googhydr-21&index=aps&hvadid=9698096154&ref=pd_sl_3yxk4avqor_e

it's expensive but it fits with the theme and has a purpose too.

this tv tray seems good for what you're saying:

what do i need to do and buy to re paint my bedroom?

Q. my mom has said i can re decorate my room as long as i buy all the paint etc but to be honest i havent got a clue, if i was left to do it on my own i would probably just go and buy some paint, and wack it all on the wall. but it cant be as easy as that can it :s so can anyone tell me like what different things i'd need to buy and how to go about painting my room?

Answer
Don't worry! It really CAN be that easy if you're decorating a small kid's room! However, if you're doing a big makeover on a teens room, especially a girl's, it can require a bit more planning!

First off, get a theme or colour scheme. For example, you could decorate your room in a shabby-chic style or maybe a more glamorous movie-star theme! It's up to You! If you don't want a theme then just get a colour scheme. Say, bright candy-apple green and lollipop pink! This can look AMAZING! This is a website with lots of different themes. Just click on the themes in the top left-hand corner for inspiration!

http://themeroomideas.com/Victorian/Vintage-style-decorating-ideas.html

http://themeroomideas.com/Marie-Antoinette-style/bedroom-decor.html

Move around your furniture if you think it will look better with, say, the bed under the window and your desk near the door. Now buy your bedding, paint, and curtains, as these can really change a room! Buy bedding that either matches your paint or is in a coordinating colour. Look at these websites or Google around for ideas and pictures!

http://www.home-designing.com/2008/09/teen-room-ideas

http://www.roomdecoratingideas.net/black-and-white-bedroom-decorating-ideas.php

You colud paint all your walls, just one accent wall behind the bed, (This is what I did in my room! :D ) or you could do stripes or wallpaper! It's up to you!

Once you've got your basics, do the really fun part. Shopping! Bring a friend if you like and go to lots of different shops. Try to look out for...
Beanbags,
Floor cushions,
Mirrors,
Wall Art,
Cute Furniture like trunks that you can store stuff in!
Lamps,
A cool headboard,
An area or accent rug (This is quite important!)
And stuff like that.

Display medals & trophies you've won, framed school papers, photos and general treasures to personalise your room. Have fun and enjoy it and don't forget Fairy Lights!

i have 2 boys aged 3 and 2 and a little girl who is 1, the bedroom was decorated as thomas the tank engine before but kids being kids have ripped the wallpaper down so i want to paint it in colours to suit all 3, i was thinking of doing 2 walls baby pink and 2 walls baby blue but not sure now! any ideas?

Answer
play around with the Sherwin Williams color visualizer to find something that you like. It is the best paint visualizer on the web, imho. I like how their color palette is laid out, I like that you can search by color family & color name, the "painted" rooms look the most realistic, and it suggests coordinating color schemes. You can literally spend hours:
http://www.sherwin.com/visualizer/

I think it would be a good idea to choose a gender neutral color for the whole room, like "trusty tan" (# 6087).

You can also take a photo of your room & upload it to the makeover gallery on this website:
http://www.roomvues.com/
You can get color suggestions & they'll photoshop them onto your room so that you can get an idea of what it will look like.

Wanting to re-decorate my room..Any ideas? Pics!10 points?

So I want to redecorate my room. Here's how it currently looks like.

I'm turning 14 soon. My friends love my room but I hate it. I guess I'm a little bored with it..I need, ya know, change. I want something that represents my personality. Something relaxed but funky.Something unique, but not totally like a out-of-this-world-im-an-alien type thing.

Picture would be awesome (:
Thank yoou!
xoxo
NO alien things. Lol. But that made me laugh.
OHMYGAWD!
The third link (second poster) is ah-dorable. I love it! It's awesome. I love the black with it. :O

Bedroom design/flooring?

TheDude

Hey there,

We're building a house and I'm trying to figure out what flooring I should have in my room. I have a white wooden bed, turquoise and mint green walls, and black and white Victorian style bed sheets and decor. Wood would be too expensive so I'm going for tile, no carpet either. I can't decide what to choose. A friend suggested that I choose black tile..but I think that would be too harsh against the light walls and light furniture. My mother suggested tile that has some grey in it. Basically I'm completely lost and have no idea what would look good.

Thanks for the help

Answer
Mother is right - you don't want black. Not only does it become monolithic, but it also shows up every spec of dust anywhere.

Take a look into bamboo flooring - on sale, it can be reasonably priced and give you the warm look of wood. A nice dark brown would be great with your colors. If you cannot swing that, look at some of the sheet vinyl or even commercial tile colors. That sounds tacky, but if you choose the right color, it can blend nicely with a couple of small area rugs.

If your family is going to stay in the house, that is one thing - but if they could be selling this house in the next five or ten years, they should really consider doing a wooden floor - bamboo at minimum. They don't want one room to make or break a sale, and something as obvious as that could make a difference.

Answer
Red Black and White is a great color scheme for a bedroom. If you would like to add a splash of exotic color to your walls, or if you would like some really awesome black and white abstract prints; there is a man on Maui who has taken some really awesome photos he is offering for sale. These photos can be printed and framed to match your chosen decor. Check out what is being offered and buy early for the holidays.

10 year old boys room makeover...?

Zoe Marie

Can you tell me some awesome room ideas for a 10 year old boys room. My husband and I are thinking about building him a loft bed like the one on the t.v. show Drake and Josh. Any other ideas are very much welcome and appreciated!! Thanks!

Answer
At ten, you could really get into spending some money. So you really want to avoid the whole "theme" thing and go at it as a bedroom. With furniture that can be used as he gets older and be changed up with just bedding and paint.

The loft bedding sounds cool. I immediately thought of the one with the desk set below, and the bed above. It would be great and he wouldn't outgrow it any time soon. Currently it could be used for homework and his art projects, and later could be used for his computer and such.

A cool paint job around the room, like a stripe or something would be cool for him. There are a couple of places that have some great bedding options. Of course Pottery Barn Kids/teens comes to mind. As does the Company Store. Love their selection. Both of those places also have corresponding accesories like rugs, bulletin boards, cushions, curtains, things like that. Needless to say the Company store is cheaper. However, if you fall in love with something at Pottery Barn, buy the must haves now, then check their clearance department on line frequently. You can often find the matching pieces 50 to 75 % off.

Not to be forgotten for cool items in his room is Target. They take a bit to hit the trend, but soon enough will have some cool accessories in the colors that you choose.

With a throw rug, and a padded stool in the color of the curtains for the desk, maybe a bean bag for hanging out.
Pick up the Magnet/Erase board at like Sam's to hang on the wall behind the desk. Tape off the stripe for the paint. And he's got a really cool room that he will love and be able to stay in for many years. The organizational items you can pick up from all the above mentioned places all the way to Lillian Vernon, or Lillian Vernon Kids. He'll continue to grow into it. As he gets older, wait out the college sales until they have marked down the things that didn't sell to nothing, and you are set.

I just know he's going to love having a "big boy" room. And you'll love it not breaking the bank.

Good Luck!!!

Your review on Carlsbad Seapointe Resort in California?

Jennifer S

For those who have been there, whats good and whats bad? how are the rooms?

Answer
This is a wonderful vacation spot!!
Perfect location, helpful staff, across the street from the beach, beach goodies and a wagon available from the activity center, activities for adults and children!!
We had a one bedroom with a full kitchen and a fabulous view.
The location is also marvelous--walking distance to get to the Coaster to get to San Diego, minutes away to get to all kinds of shopping (Costco, outlet mall, restaurants, grocery store, pharmacy, etc...), and freeway close to many attractions--perfect!
The lobby area is also very welcoming with coffee, tea, and fruit for the guests.

BEAUTIFUL VIEW right off Carlsbad Blvd!

I celebrated an early Father's Day / Birthday here last weekend and fell in love with Carlsbad. We had a 1 bedroom, 1 bath condo. it comes with a full kitchen (fridge, stove, dish washer, cookware, silverware and glassware), and a patio facing the ocean. The VIEW from our room was AMAZING! the ocean was mysterious and deep blue, the sun was shiny and warm, the sea breeze was warm and welcoming - everything was so perfect!

The decor of the condo is a little out of date (e.g. pastel wall border stickers & mint color carpet). The bath tub is a little small. Wish there is more than 1 pool table because it is always taken. But these are minor problems and can be fixed easily.

The rate for a 1br / 1ba condo ranges from $239 ~ $359 per night.

I will definitely come back again for special occasions.
I stayed here for a nice get away while staying local. I had a two bedroom with a full kitchen and a little patio that faced the ocean. This is a real nice place. It has a club house, a gym, two pools (one for adults only) and a fun play area for kids that includes a pirate ship and a little water theme area.

It's located right across the 101 from the ocean, so beautiful views! There is no restaurant but since you have a kitchen you can drive across the I-5 to the Costco or down the road to the Ralph's. They also have a basket ball court, tennis courts, pool and ping pong table on the bottom floor.

The only reason this place didn't get a 5 star rating is because my unit was on the back end of the resort which is facing the Coaster train track (a little noisy) and we were situated right next to the club house which is used for weddings on the weekend. And yes, you guessed right, there was a wedding on the Sunday we checked in. It was a little loud.

I also hear that if you are a owner at this timeshare, you can rent the clubhouse for around $100 or $200! That is a steal! The Clubhouse faces the Ocean and the pool area. Nice location for a casual wedding.

So check on their nightly rates if you are coming to the area because this is a pretty good location. I called the front desk to get an idea of rates and I was told the nightly rate can range from $239 a night during spring and upwards of $300 during peak season. But considering this is for a 2bd/2bath, full kitchen, ocean view, that is pretty good. Across from the ocean, minutes from the freeway, one exit from the Carlsbad Outlet Mall and down the 101 from the quaint little town of Carlsbad.
I stayed here in July of 2009 with my two little girls, ages 3 and 6. We had a one bedroom condo, so they slept on the sleeper sofa and I got my own bed. While not luxurious, the accommodations were nice. Perfect for the beach. We had a great view of the ocean from our balcony and a fireplace in the living room. Every morning we would go down to the activity center and pick up a radio flyer wagon, fill it with towels, buckets, and shovels and head off to the beach. My six year old would pull my 3 year old in the wagon across the highway, which sounds scary, but there is a light so it's quite safe. The hotel had events like making snores and a poolside BBQ with live music, at little or no cost. They also offered inexpensive crafts for the kids ($1-$3), and my kids had a great time doing those. I would have come here again this year, but was unable to trade my timeshare, and this year we're at the Grand Pacific Palisades Resort, which is okay, but I prefer the Seapointe.

I sort of regret adopting a puppy?

Ashley

I have overwhelming anxiety and panic attacks after adopting a puppy. I'm not sure I'm the right match for this amazing& adorable 6month old border terrier mix. It's only been 3 1/2 days but I've had this feeling since I got home with him. I live in a one bedroom condo I bartend and work 2 jobs I also have a very small shared yard on the water... In theory I thought this would be fine. I'm an extreme neat freak, now my small condo smells like dog poo and all my furniture/decor has been stored away so that it is not destroyed.my bathroom is no longer my bathroom it's turned into his home/ toilet.dont get me wrong he's not a little devil he's just a puppy I get that. I've just never owned a dog before and feel like I bit off more then I can chew! A big part of me wants to give him back...he deserves a big yard and a family that has the energy that I don't. I feel like I bad person for thinking this way but I can't have panic attacks for the next 10/15 years:-/ I need advise from someone that's been in the same situation b.c I'm losing my mind over it!
It's a no kill shelter. And I'm not a bitch I set out to do this b.c I really wanted a dog. I love animals but obviously didn't realize the work that goes into having one considering I've never had any pets growing up!if the answers aren't ment to help then please keep your nasty comments to yourself. My intentions were and still are good and I only want the best for this puppy but I also have to think of myself. If I'm unhappy he will sense it. I just wanted to know if this is normal if there is some sort of postpartum for ppl that have adopted pets. I'm not looking to be told I'm a shitty person b.c I know I'm not!
He's not having panic attacks... He's happy as a lark. Tons of treats tons of toys I take him out as much as I can he sleeps in my bed even thou I bought two diffrent beds for him. He's an amazing puppy and seems super happy. I'm not an abusive mean person. I'm just not sure we're the right match...

Answer
My apartment used to be immaculate until I rescued a 2 year old american eskimo/bichon frise mix, so I understand your frustration

I'm gonna be blunt. I HATE it when people are selfish and think "aww puppies are so cute I want one" and then get one and realize it's not all cuddles and best dog ever. You get out of a dog what you put into it. If he's not worth it to you then give that puppy back while he's still a puppy and has a great chance of being adopted by someone that will and remember this the next time you agree to take responsibility for a life that completely relies on you.

NOW if you decide to keep him there are ways that you can deal with all of this.

Get a dog pen. FIRST of all. unlike your bathroom, once the dog gets used to the pen it will become his safe place.

Nature's Miracle no marking does work but it's flawed because the dog will just find another place to pee....so keeping that flaw in mind if there's something that you absolutely do not want pee'd on spray it with nature's miracle no marking and it will be spared....as long as you do it every couple days.

Odoban use this instead of febreeze it's what hunters use so animals don't smell them and what hospitals use to remove odors and anti bacterial spray....you can use it as multi purpose to clean too but i'd use it for like wiping down a counter quick not a tough job. You can get it at walmart and home depot and it's cheapier than febreeze and works better.

POOO BAGS!!!!!!! get the actual poo bags and always pick up any poo accidents with poo bags and tie off the bag. I also recommend getting the strong scented trash bags i get the lilac ones by hefty i think i dunno the orange box LOL also a trash can with a well fitting lid will cut back that odor too

Now something absolutely everyone should have in the cleaning supply arsenal "kids n pets" this stuff is like the tide to go of "mother f******* did you seriously just mark my bed/couch?" all you do is pour some on and let it dry...works on EVERYTHING i.e. Red paint off a bed and it's cheap.

Dog body spray...you can get doggy body spray I have a raspberry one, great for inbetween baths

Taking him to the groomers regularly and brushing him inbetween will dramatically reduce shedding issues

get a lint brush that is fabric it's got a plastic handle(usually gray) and a rough fabric (usually red) and they work amazing at removing all fur lint fast from EVERYTHING and last forever...and dirt cheap.

TREATS!!! When training your puppy do not scold or yell you're going to confuse and scare him and make him scared of you and he'll just do what he was going to do when you're not looking. Don't rub his nose in the pee! People think this works but it doesn't and it's cruel...even if it's just a minute later he's forgotten what he's done and doesn't understand other than your being mean to him. What you can do is pick it up with a paper towel while holding your puppy hold it up to him (while being calm) so that he can smell it from a distance and then walk him outside and sit him and the paper towel down on the ground (same for poo..) My dog has alwasy quickly grasped that he needs to go outside he just doesn't realize how to ask...he's just starting to catch on but again I have an older dog they are more challenging.

Have a very specific designated area for him to go potty (especially if you live some place that snows....your not gonna wanna have to join the ice capades to take him out lol). Always take him to go "potty" in his spot BEFORE taking him for a walk

Harness! One that the leash hooks to the front preferably. a) because all that pressure when he pulls on his throat is dangerous b) I can't remember what it's called if it's an endorphin that's released or what but there is something in their throats that when constricted it causes them to literally become stressed out. A stressed out puppy is not a learning puppy.

look up "loose leash training" on youtube

give lots of encouragement and always always praise when he does something you want him to do and don't focus on the "bad dog" so much you want to teach him that good things happen when he does good things and NOTHING happens when he doesn't do the right thing. Eventually he learns "If i walk beside mama i get treats and praise and we walk!!! When I walk away from mama she stops walking til i stop pulling, i stop getting treats and praise" they quickly get it...just like the "ooh if i pee outside i get treats i better save it til we go out again"

It's patience and love commitment and a lifestyle change...if you're willing to do that for him then please if yahoo answers allows people to contact each other please contact me i'll help you all I can I have spent hundreds of hours reading and researching and youtubing lol. There's other cleaning solutions and tricks too I'm totally happy to help anyone who is willing to make the commitment but if you are not then give him away right now!
